Reaching out to you EVERYONE CAN BE A (ROLE)MODEL.
Photo Challenge New website
That's the second month Alton Paas is on the cover of the Buccaneer's Herald and with good reason. Alton is a benchmark for me. He sets a tone of determination and accomplishment and that is enough to admire him, his team and their accomplishments with Fundashon Alton Paas. Alton has been a great inspiration for me as I was starting my own thing, not knowing if it would be a business or foundation, I know I would be in service of him in some way or another. When the ideas for the organic cotton shirts came, it was obvious that he would be a great (role)model. Leonid Antonia did his thing with a camera capturing that infectious smile that just makes your day. With all that being said, I would almost forget that this newsletter is to celebrate that the organic cotton t-shirts are out and that with Alton Paas and Leonid Antonia our marketing campaign has started. Keep reading because this is just the beginning of what I always aimed to do with The Recycled Pirate.

Stay Weird Photo Challenge Stay Weird! Normal is so overrated. With the organic t-shirts in I can finally start on my long term "social programming" project. You can consider it a public coaching session for all to see and experience. What is the challenge? Take a photo of you or your friends with a Stay Weird! sticker, postcard or t-shirt. Tell me something that other people might consider weird about you, that you consider normal and message me on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter or LinkedIn. I will feature you on The Recycled Pirate's socials and together we get to show the world that we are all normal in our unique way. Follow The Recycled Pirate on Instagram and the updates from around the world. Support the movement by buying our merchandise or join our Patreon. Photography by Tirza Garmes T-shirts printed by:
This is not the time for bruised egos or touchy personas. We all need to double down now. We all need to check our emotions at the door. And we all need to step up our game. A pandemic doesn't play by books or rules. It doesn't care about your emotions or mine. All that matters is how you choose to deal with the next problem, next person and the next day. Tomorrow is coming, whether you are ready or not. So you might as well be conscious about it.

A new website The challenges of online retail from Curaçao If you have a vision, the only thing you have to do is see it to life. In the case of my website it came to life with the help of Erica Obersi of Pro Bono Sites. My website needs to offer my services which are coaching and speaking engagements which are fairly easy to do, but when you want an online shop for merchandise it becomes a lot more challenging. Importing products to Curaçao to then export them again makes prices go up and profits go down. It's also not a very sustainable business case, and that's exactly why this website was so important.

The Recycled Pirate | Life Awareness & Innovations, is about being aware of what we do, how we do it and it has to bring some kind of innovation otherwise it wouldn't be true to me. Merchandise is nothing new, but the way I'm launching it has plenty of old school fashion with a future destination. Everything is chosen as ethical as possible to serve a purpose. Quality to the client, an educational purpose with the content, and ethical business practice to set an example. The challenge is how can I remain ethical and have a good price quality ratio and also be sustainable? I am asking a lot of myself and my suppliers, I realize that very well. But if we want to change the business, you need to be in the business so you can demand change. As a consumer and a business owner I have power to do so, and I want my clients to do so as well. So I created to different merchandise streams, the online version where things will be printed and shipped on demand. I will have less control over the shipping methods, but I can communicate with the producers to choose more sustainable methods. The other merchandise stream is imported to Curaçao and sold in stores here and I have more control on the end product. These two streams are important to keep cost low and to understand the production process better as we improve for the future with a powerful message.
