THE RIDERS MAG ----- PAGE 7
Wow! This has been a soggy riding season so far. Record rains and flooding have been sort of the norm and it has been playing Hell with the Thursday Riders Nights that I’ve been trying to get going up at Kosmos Restaurant and Black Gold in Newmarket. There have been some changes in our Riders Mag Crew lately Sco has moved on to look for greener grass and there is a good chance that he will find it as he’s gone into landscaping. We appreciate all he did for us at The Mag wish him well! Squirrel stepped up to temporarily fill the void. Then our little dynamo, Pam (Who was such a help to me a while back when I ended up in the Hospital.) introduced me to a fantastic young lady by the name of Chantel. Her poise, presence and sense of humour impressed me and I hired her to ride with me on the Trike to events this summer. I’m setting up a display case from which she can sell Riders Mag Support items such as pins, patches, stickers, shirts and so on from the back of the Trike. I was yet unaware of all the other talents and skills that she possessed. One Thursday afternoon I started getting texts and e mails from the owner of Kosmos asking me if I knew someone who could fill in as server/bar tender, as the wonderful lady who had been there for our Riders Night preciously was unable to continue due to family issues. I checked around and it turned out that the lovely Chantel was qualified, ready willing and able to fill in. She did such an incredible job Kosmos hired her as our regular Ride Night Hostess. She impressed me further when I found out she could do advertising sales, office work and a whole lot more and she is now proving herself to be a genuine asset and a welcome addition to our Riders Mag family.
THE RIDERS MAG -----PAGE 8
So this marvelous multi-tasking maven will join our merry band consisting of myself, Al, The lovely Miss Kitty, Gypsy (When she is able to make it) and whoever else comes in every Thursday, rain or shine! So far it has been a bit of a bust as Mother Nature hasn’t been treating us too kindly but we have started to get regulars coming out and several groups like The Kings and Queens RC, Patchless MC, Paradice Riders MC, Black Diamond Riders MC, Canadian Cruisers and lots of independents come out and pay us a visit. It is just a matter of time until we get some decent weather and it will all come together. The food is spectacular and the beer is cold. Come on out and join us some time! Black Gold stays open right across the road and has Rid-
ers Night Specials! As it grows, I will add some additional vendors and other things to keep things interesting! We do draws for door prizes etc. and are gathering up swag like these incredible “Life Saver Horn” attachments for Harleys that were sent to us by one of our newest advertisers, as give away items. They look interesting and I’ll give you a more in depth opinion once I get one installed on the Trike and of course, Petoonia, the Petulant, Pretty Purple Pig who is still waiting for me to put her back on the road. Assembling a crew of volunteers can be a bit of a challenge at times! It is not for everyone and not just anyone can fit the bill. There is a lot of trial and error and hit and miss involved and it can be infuriating at times. You just have to sift through in hopes of finding some gems and we have found some real gems and they are our crew of contributors and we truly appreciate their efforts, time, talent and commitment. They cover these events on a volunteer basis and travel on their own time and their own dime and do it out of their love of The Mag and their own desire to contribute. They get satisfaction from doing what they do and seeing their words in print and pictures published and making a difference in the motorcycle community. Many times their writing contributes to the success of an event! Our focus is on the rider not the motorcycle and we cover the events that matter to them. I liken it to putting together a giant puzzle, you think you’ve found the right piece but no matter how you turn it just doesn’t work. Sometimes as you try to fit that piece in it can even mess up part of what you had previously done. That is what can happen with contributors, and employees! I recently ran into a lady who claimed to be a writer/photographer and said she wanted to help out with the Mag. I met with her several times and she sounded genuine and sincere and I said I would give her a shot! I was quite frankly excited to have her come on board. I gave her one assignment one Saturday that she did attend but no column has yet to be turned in as well as a couple of assignments over the following weekend which freed me up to cover other events and get other stuff done
THE RIDERS MAG -----PAGE 10
in the office. These were three good events, The Orangeville Blues fest and Show and Shines at both Lisle Legion on Saturday and Orangeville Legion on the Sunday. They all advertised with us and expected some coverage that I generally would generally do myself and would have enjoyed attending any or all myself. I honestly believed that I had things covered and that our newest contributor was going to attend and do a write up and take pictures of the events. It turns out that I was wrong as while our pseudo writer did go to the Lisle Legion she left before the judging was done and then didn’t even show at Orangeville! To top it off she never even called emailed or texted to give me a heads up! I found out the following Tuesday evening when she finally sent me an email in reply to a phone message I left for her. I would have thought that some courtesy (either professional or common) should have been extended to me in this regard. I don’t have any problem with someone figuring out that they had bitten off more than they could chew or discovered that it wasn’t a good fit and quitting. The fact that I was left unaware of it until well after the fact is insulting! She should return the items that I gave her that would identify her as a Riders Mag Representative as soon as possible and not make me come looking for them! Just drop them at the store and carry on with your life! I apologize to The Lisle Legion and The Orangeville Legion and the Orangeville Bike and Blues Fest and will be in touch and try to put something together for you to announce your winners and thank your sponsors and attendees! Sometimes, some people who show huge potential but in the end, show a tremendous lack of class, or courtesy! Ultimately it is my responsibility to weed them out before they can fuck things up! I failed! I will be more selective in the future! On a positive note, I have added a couple more new
contributors who I have great hopes for. Gregg (Wheelz) Walker and Maxx Kochar. Gregg has been a fixture at many event around the Hamilton/Niagara area for years now. He gets around on his Can Am that has been modified to carry his wheelchair. He is well liked and respected in the motorcycle community and I’m anxious
to see what he can do. Watch for his column “3 Wheeling with Wheelz” Maxx is President of The Predators MC is a long time rider and brings his photographic and writing skills to the table and ensures me that he is up to the task! Bear with us folks and let us know how the puzzle is coming together! Baconfest 2017 promises to be an adventure for me as I’m looking after the Show and Shine portion down in “Hogland”. So come on out July 8th and join in the festivities! There will be a $10.00 entrance fee for the Ride in Show and Shine. There are lots of our new and distinctive trophies that are being sponsored by Midwest Motorcycle Supply from Strathroy. The Rideau Rendezvous in Sensational Smiths Falls is coming together nicely and everyone is really excited
THE RIDERS MAG ----- PAGE 11
about it and July 14 -16 is coming up quickly! Come on out to the First Annual Show and Shine at Oliver’s Ale House in Mississauga on June 25th that I’m helping with. There will be great food, a beer garden, live entertainment, door prizes, trophies and all kinds of fun and frivolity! Thurst T’s Collingwood who is to be the overflow from the Wasaga Beach Rally may well prove to be the main event as he has Ten Bands that include the Amazing Carpet Frogs, Bikini bike washes, fashion shows and a whole lot more booked over four days and I will be there along with Sensational Chantel with a selection of Riders Mag Swag! Ride to Reach 2017 I loaded up the Trike and headed west to Oakville, to Motorcycle Enhancements fine Motorcycle Shop was holding their Annual Ride to Reach Ride and Barbecue. As is fairly common with me, there were a couple of other things that I had to do out that way out and on the way back and I knew that I wouldn’t be able to go on the actual ride but I would be there for the start and part of the after ride party. I rolled in and through the fantastic archway that they
THE RIDERS MAG -----PAGE 12
had built out of black and white balloons which stretched across much of the entrance to the cordoned off parking lot. The event was pretty much underway as there were bikes and vendors lining both sides of the vast parking lot and lots of people milling around. John, Elaine and his crew of volunteers were busy setting things up for what would be a very busy day. John and Motorcycle Enhancements supports so may worthy humanitarian causes and charities and puts huge amount of time into them. That is one of the reasons that I nominated him for an Eddy Award and had the honour of presenting it to him at The Spring Motorcycle Show this past spring. He is trusted and well respected in the motorcycle community and gets tremendous support from riders from all over. That was more than evident from the number of bikers who were filling up the parking lot. There was a pretty diverse group of riders and motorcycles taking part in the ride today. Harleys, Japanese, British, Sport bikes, cruisers, touring models, and so on which pretty much reflects the complexion of Motorcycle Enhancements customer base. It is a shop that defies being pigeon holed! Bad Bob was there as well for a while before he went on to cover BRO’s Annual Fallen Riders memorial run at Queen’s Park that was happening later that day. I wandered through visiting with the many vendors and riders along the way until John called the group together to welcome them and give a briefing on the ride and explain that he wouldn’t be riding today as he’s been so busy getting all of his customers bikes on the road that he hadn’t had time to get his own bike ready. He would follow along in a chase truck in case someone should break down or run into problems along the way. I got pictures of the procession of bikes file out of the lot and head off down the road before wandering off to scratch a couple of things off my “To Do List” and then went back for when the pack returned. Actually they split into several smaller groups of
bikes for safety reasons each with their own road captain. The returns were intermittent which worked out well as the Barbecue Crew was busy constantly but never overwhelmed. They kept cranking out delicious burgers and hotdogs that were complimented by tasty salads and condiments throughout the afternoon. It sure smelled great as the smoke from the barbecues wafted through the venue awakening taste buds of the many attendees who didn’t realize that they wanted second helpings! There were lots of door prizes and silent auction items displayed on large tables beside the barbecue area and drew a lot of attention until it was time for me to move on and get other things done on my way back home. Shop dogs Panda and Rocco proved that they aren’t always on security duty and took time out to romp and play together. Panda showed great interest in the drone that was being directed around the event and she almost got it on more than one occasion! Another great time with some great people for a very worthy cause! Len’s Auto Rewaco Grand Opening It was a beautiful day for a motorcycle event and it would have been a great day for a ride, but I elected to take the truck as I had several stops to make on the way out and the way back! Plus I needed to have access to the phone along the way as I had a lot of contacts to make during the day and my hands free system in the truck is handy in those regards.
I rolled into beautiful Downtown Jarvis (Actually Len’s is Downtown Jarvis!) early but the place was already hopping, the barbecues were going full bore, turning out some great dogs to hungry patrons. There was a large tent that had been set up in between building over rows of picnic tables to provide shade for the many guest who would be arriving throughout the day. Ernie was out front as I walked up with a bundle of Mags in each hand and he got them laid out in a display for me. He was really excited and just having a ball. I don’t think I’ve ever seen him without a huge smile on his face. Even when I’ve watched him unloading or loading those trike at shows on or off of their trailers in the freezing cold in the middle of a snow storm that smile is a constant. I tracked down Len who introduced me to Moose (Aptly named, I’m assuming due to his large stature!) who had
THE RIDERS MAG ----- PAGE 13
come in from head office in Germany for the Grand Opening. Len is an extremely busy man and his operation is multi-faceted, encompassing, Towing, Used Automobiles sales and service, motorcycle sales service, Trike conversions, Detailing of trucks, cars, campers, motorcycles, and a myriad of other things but his pride in this Rewaco Dealership and Distributorship is evident in the broad smile that spreads across his face. As this is a family business his wife Cathy, Son Ernie and the rest of the family all share the workload and the pride that is so obvious in the atmosphere and environment that is evident in all that they do! The friendly, hands on, approach to doing business seems to be infectious or inspirational as the entire crew seems to display immense pride in what they do. It was all hands on deck for this event and I got to talk with many of the crew and they were all beaming. Young Craig who had been fighting a losing battle in trying to keep all the bikes clean from construction dust on my last visit here for a photoshoot seemed far more relaxed and we got to talk. It was a very busy spot, the showroom was constantly full, the sales crew were kept busy answering questions and arranging test rides and the demo bikes were never parked for long. However, they are never too busy to acknowledge a milestone in the life of one of their own and took the time to present a great looking birthday cake to Sandie as she took a break. Happy Birthday Sandie! I met with many of their existing customers who came in from all over Ontario, Quebec and New Brunswick to be here and all

ating huge interest in these fine machines! It was another great day with some great people! The new building looks fantastic! Bacchus MC, Hamilton, Show and Shine 2017 This has long been a favourite event of mine and it draws riders from all over the province and gets the support of many different clubs as well. It is a well-organized event and there are many entrants in the Show and Shine and lots of great looking bikes were on display and vying for one of the many trophies. It was a hot day and there was a run on the supply of
seemed extremely satisfied with their rides. There was a couple from Newfoundland who came in to pick up their newly purchased Rewaco Trike and would be riding it home. People were arriving in and on all kinds of different bikes and other vehicles and there was a constant ebb and flow of people so Len’s is gener-

bottled water at Barbecue Central where they were turning out some awesome burgers throughout the day. They have great neighbours on the street who co-operate fully with the club and keep the street clear of cars for the day. They had been experiencing flooded basements that had their sump pumps working overtime and there was a constant stream of water running down the gutters and pooling at the end of the street. There is always lots of people to talk to at this event and I have a great time and the day flies by quickly for me. The call went out to gather for the awards portion of the day and Ray (Who needs no loudspeaker) called out the winners and thanked all the sponsors and all who attended! The proceeds of the day were being donated to the
local rescue station and as Ray so eloquently stated if you find yourself drowning out there you contributed to your own rescue! Thanks for another fantastic day! See you next year! No I didn’t lose the sheet that you gave me this time Ray! I folded it and put it in my wallet just like you told me! Daybreak Barbecue Although she is no stranger to bikers, Motorcycles and Motorcycle Clubs I brought Sensational Chantel with me, as this event and these people don’t fit into the stereotypical example of what Bikers and Motorcycle Clubs that the police, and the mainstream media suggest that they are! This is one of my must attend events of the year as it is heartwarming and good for my soul! It reaffirms my notion that there are some truly fantastic people in this World, You just have to know where to find them! This is one of three annual events that The Brothers of the Blade, their family friends and supporters do through their own charitable foundation W.I.S.H. (Working in Support of the Handicapped) and this was the seventeenth running of it. The foundation gives support to various group homes throughout the area and provides not just funding for various projects but use their expertise to help tender bids, and oversee the projects protecting them from unscrupulous contractors and getting the best value for the money. I say one of three as they also do their annual Manitoulin Penny Run for years now that is similar to this on the Labour Day, long weekend and now the Muskoka Chapter is doing an event up Bracebridge in support of Community Living. They do these events without fanfare and there are no politicians or public figures appearing for photo-ops! These men and women put a lot of hard work into these events, before, during and
THE RIDERS MAG ----- PAGE 17
after and the only thing they get out of it is a huge sense of pride and personal satisfaction that they brought joy and happiness to a whole lot of people. I have been coming here for quite a while now and covered many of these events. I have noticed huge changes in
many from when they first come here and feel strange and awkward or withdrawn then in subsequent years throw themselves into the event whole heartedly. From the moment they arrive, the fun begins when they explode from the cars, buses and vans that brought them and literally leap into the arms of these Bikers who are ready to greet them with open arms. This is an amazing day full of smiles, fun, and good will! They do motorcycle rides around the property loading long lines of eager passengers on the backs of motorcycles from specially constructed plaorms. Safety is a prime consideration in anything that these folks do on this event. All passengers have to wear helmets and the utmost attention is paid to loading and unloading of all and special consid-

eration is given to those with severe handicaps who are normally confined to wheelchairs. My Trike fits the bill for giving rides to those individuals, as I could accommodate them better and there was no risk of them falling off or getting hurt. In one case the caregiver rode on the box and gave additional support to the passenger keeping his feet from touching hot exhaust pipes and such. Along with the rides there are modified biker games that are a huge hit for all. They can select any number of removable tattoos at the tattoo studio and then enjoy a barbecue that boasts some really great burgers and hotdogs and a huge array of salads, fruit, beverages and icecream. All are given goodie bags courtesy of long-time supporters Ray and his wife Margaret who get donations of all
kinds of items that they stuff into these bags. They also receive a participation medal. A couple of years ago I donated some old stock of Friday the 13th T shirts that we had hanging around in boxes and they went over well. This year I was able to step it up a notch and do up some special T Shirts! The idea for the shirts actually came from a member of the Blades, Wayne Bob, a number of years ago and I would have loved to have done it then but my then budget would not allow it. Again, this year, my heart still said yes but the budget Gods were still singing the same sad old song, but with the help of Gord from Black Gold Knife and Leather and Ray who is a volunteer from the Motorcycle Division of Pace Law who chipped in with funding, I was able to raise a single digit salute to the Budget Gods and we were able to get it done! (Strength comes in numbers and I’ve discovered that you need numbers to overcome the damned Budget Gods!) I sat down with my buddy Dan the vinyl graphics and Silkscreening guru from Alfagraf in Mississauga and design a t shirt that looked like a vest complete with side laces and patches to give away! I think they looked amazing and judging from comments I received they seemed to be a hit with everybody. Birdman and his ever lovely lady, Lace were there with a couple of their birds, a Harper Hawk and a Great Horned Owl and they enthralled the crowd as usual! It was an incredible day and the weather was spectacular throughout the whole event with the clouds and subsequent thunderstorms holding off until just after everybody was leaving or settling into the Clubhouse after clean up for a much needed break and relive the whole event. Swordsmen MC – Celebration of Life Jimmy – King Wil-
liam Clearwater - RIP I got back to the office turned on my computer and found a message from Chris of the Swordsmen MC asking me to call. The Swordsmen wanted to invite me to a Celebration of Life for Billy King William Clearwater who had passed away last December from a variety of ailments that included Diabetes and Cancer among other complications. He fought one Hell of a fight and didn’t go down easy but he eventually lost the battle. His Brothers did up a fitting tribute to the man they loved and respected and will remain in their thoughts and their hearts forever! They gathered to remember and rejoice the times that

they had shared! These guys do things up first class and had a Chef preparing fresh pasta and other great dishes and the aroma carried for blocks! One of his brothers did a minature model of Billy on his Can Am in full leathers and full colours minus the right leg! A real fine tribute to the man that speaks volumes on the respect and love that all of his Brothers have for him!
I couldn’t stay long as we were on deadline and if I was to have any hope in getting this in this issue and avoiding the nagging from the Managing Editor I couldn’t linger! Such is the life and the sacrifices of a Roving Reporter. GBNF - RIP - L&R

One for the road
With the weather getting nicer, and our flooding going down, we’ve gassed up the bikes and have had one heck of a June! First off, the guys from Pace Law, Ray, James, plus our editor Al and myself have hit Smith’s Falls for a couple of meetings. These guys have been busting their asses for the Rideau Rendezvous, and the whole town is on board. People are stoked, plans are in place and this 1st time event is looking to be epic! We’re talking a full weekend of beer tents, camping, biker rodeo, beer tents, games, concerts, a kids zone to keep ‘em busy, and did I mention the beer tents? Being the first of many, I suggest you visit as it’s gonna be big! Now for the rides! Near and dear to my heart is the Heroes Highway Ride. My first time was like being a true virgin (yes, I remember) and seeing all the bikes and all the people, gives you goosebumps and a somewhat euphoric feeling. (Ok, maybe using the analogy of hundreds of bikes and folks in one place being compared to losing your virginity was not my best use of words, but you get the point). The day could not have been better. The sun was shining, the bikes started without a hitch, and oh, did I men-
…..with Lil Red
readers. One I’d like to mention is a guy that Mike and I have met before, Scott. After he reminded me that we’d met before, he mentioned that he reads (and subscribes) to the Mag, and then he and Mike got talking about the Town of Hastings. Mike spent his teen summers there, and Scott spent a lot of his younger years there as well. This was my cue to continue to wander, as I’m a city girl, having grown up in Hamilton, I only visited this county bumpkin area during the summers. I was pretty excited to be taking part this year, as this ride ended in the beautiful city of Port Hope. I will admit that at some of these events, I sometimes miss golden opportunity photos, but this year, photographer and Vet himself, Brad Denoon was taking pics, (and this guy knows a camera). I did enlist the help of some of our army guys who graciously hopped on top of a fire truck to take some crowd pics. Another rider got in a beautiful black and white shot that is one of my favs. Her name is Heather, a.k.a Rae and she was there with her Dad Jim. Memories from folks like Rae are what makes my job just that much better! It’s one thing to be there with your friends, but to experience it with your pops, well what’s
tion, riding with 3200 of my closet friends!!! Yeah, that’s right, last count was about 3200 bikes. It’s always awe-inspiring when you pull up to the driveway and see a parking lot full of bikes. Every make and model you could imagine, there’s no preference, everyone is friends. This year looked larger than the last. We pulled in with a group of friends who had not participated in the ride before. Kate, Rod, Diana and Steve. Oh, and our lovely blond Tam from Ride for Paws was eager and excited and was large and in charge beside the registration booth, handing out our Mags. I wander around at these things, it’s what I do. This gives me the opportunity to meet some
THE RIDERS MAG ----- PAGE 21
not to love. The last time Mike and I did this ride, it was to Oshawa. That year, folks didn’t ride together (and I believe it’s one of the points of the ride, to make a statement while riding together, and pay respect to the men and women that give us our freedom. We were both hoping that this year would be better. After blessings from the Pastor, words of direction and thanks from Lou, we were on our way. It was nice to see that a number of riders this year made it a point to stay together, monopolizing one lane, and creating quite the sight to see. I will admit, seeing folks on the bridges, and the people lined up along Pope
THE RIDERS MAG ---- PAGE 22
Hope city streets, made me tear up a bit. Just a bit. Hey! Back off, I cried like a bitch ok? Pulling in reminded me of an early Dover. The streets from the highway to downtown were lined with people of all ages waving flags and signs, even saluting. Downtown streets were peg to peg bikes, as was the parking lots. As we pulled in, I got a glimpse of this long, curly hair, and who to my surprise was it, but our girl Hugz. This woman is everywhere, kinda like Batman…or Batwoman! Lol moving on. (Now I’m gonna be up thinking of her own bat signal omg L’il Red knock it off!!!) Back to the HHR. The Wall was there on display. I’m referring to the one with the images of soldiers on it that have sacrificed for our county. There were bands, Scottish pipes, Veterans to meet and greet and vendors with shirts, patches and food! Which takes me to my next bit.
As we were eating, our group noticed a biker get up from his table and walk to his bike with a young boy from a different table. They took off and 15 mins later he rode back in with the young boy as his passenger. There was a woman standing to the side, smiling widely, taking pictures (I guessed it was the boy’s Mother) Just then, the rider’s group of buddies (I later found out the boys were the ‘Brothers in Arms’) gathered around the boy and took a beautiful group shot of the boy on the bike, and the guys in the background. Feeling that I was missing something of monumental
importance, I made my way out to ask some questions. However, it was breaking up by the time I reached them, and so I simply let the Mother absorb everything and gave her my info to contact me, and send me the picture as this seemed like something our readers at the Mag would wanna see and know about. It made us all proud to see a “Biker” get up from his group to take this little guy for a ride and by the look of it, make his day. We found it touch-
ing to say the least, without even knowing the story. This is one very good reason why I love this biker community. Moving onto Classy Chassis and their 11th annual BBQ. We’ve been to many, so we were not missing this one! Mind you, we almost did as Mother Nature reared her evil head once again and rained upon us, that judgemental little bitch! But, we got there. And guess who was there?? Our very own Hugz was there with a group from HD-ROC…Wait! Now that I think about it, it’s kinda catchy, like a commercial….’Hugz..EVERYWHERE!’ This girl is everywhere and man does she know people! My head was swirling with names and faces by the end, but I’m so grateful that she took the time to introduce me to some of these folks because after spending a little time with them, they seem like a great group to associate with! This time I had my Riders Mag patches and pins with me, and I was gonna sell some. (BTW, if you see me, ask to see them. I probably have them somewhere around Mike’s bike). One of the gentlemen that Hugz introduced me to was Terry, and he bought 3! While being introduced, Hugz had us all pose for a pic. I really felt like I was among
THE RIDERS MAG ----- PAGE 23
friends, and we just met! After the giggles, I headed on my merry way, looking for Josh, Charlene, or any of the Classy folks walking around. I did catch up with John briefly, and he was thrilled with the turnout. The stunt riders did an outstanding show, the band was entertaining, and Bob from The Roadside Sessions was taking pics for people at a small price, with proceeds going to the Hospital for Sick Children. All in all, it was a great day of meeting people, catching up with others and riding, riding, riding. Mike and I always make time to take part
THE RIDERS MAG ----- PAGE 24
in the Ride for Dad. This year, our ever-dependable editor Al called me and said, ‘Hey, are you getting your ass out to the Ride for Dad tomorrow?’ Dammit, it forgot!!! With all the bike maintenance and repairs going on, I completely lost track of the dates! A couple of our friends (Glenn and Wendy) were at the Ride for Dad, as it was in Port Perry, and they live out that way. With great sunny weather, the turnout was awesome, and the ride was a good three hours which is stellar. Plus, they were making a pit stop at Classy during the run, so who could complain. And this ride gives you so many ways to participate. Snowmobiling, on the water, and on the bikes. Pick your poison and participate. We just got the jet skis in the water so giddy up! Now I know that there are a ton of rides being scheduled this summer, but to schedule a ride close to or on the same date as another ride seems like a death wish. Tam and Derek’s Ride for Paws Poker Run was being held on June 11, and nerves kicked in when another ride, the Ride for Hunger, changed their date to the 11th. How will it affect ridership? To say they were nervous is an understatement. Well the Poker Run did really well. Perhaps kicked ass is a better description. Lots of their shirts sold. This is the smaller of the two (The Ride for Paws ride itself is being held in August). There was a couple right in front of us, reviewing their cards. Mike was watching, and they looked over their cards and was ready to toss them as they felt they had nothing. Mike stopped them, pointed out that they had a flush, and encouraged them to check their cards at the table. Turns out, they WON! Best hand. Damn Mike and his good heart. A good turnout of bikes, plus a great bbq and even bands topped off the afternoon. One of our guys (Derek,
our little celebrity) stopped to help a fellow rider from the Ride for Hunger ride who had dropped her bike. With her one side being scraped and bruised, as well I’m sure her ego, she thankfully was able to walk away rather unscathed. Paramedics took good care of her. Now I gotta give a shout out to this girl, cause she is killing it at getting Mags in your hands at the Campbellford ride-in on Thursdays nights, and just recently, she introduced me to the owner of the Iron Grille, which has a biker ride-in on Wednesday nights in Marmora. With a band and all. Lisa is the name of this little blond firecracker (I sense a trend with me and blondes!) And yes fellas, she’s married! Now for the rundown, mark your calendars! July 2nd is the Brotherhood of Bikers Show and Shine. The fellas do a lot for the community, so I encourage you to get your bike all shined up and show up. NHL tough guy Shawn Antoski will be there! July 14 – 16 is the Rideau Rendezvous! Good gawd if you don’t go to this, then we can’t be friends! Ok, not really, but I will seriously question our friendship parameters! July 15 is the Kawartha Bikers Church Show and Shine. And thank goodness the rule applies that all entries in the show
MUST be ridden to the event, not trailered. Such a peeve of mine and I’m glad they agree! These guys have a great bbq, (we’ve been to a few), always a good band playing, and they add the tattoo competition which is cool to see. July 23rd is Wings and Wheels, being held at the National Air Force Museum in Trenton. Vendors, music, prizes and a silent auction all for a good cause. Now I don’t know about you but I need a serious nap!
As always, if you have an event in the Central or Eastern Ontario, and you’d like this red-headed firecracker to attend, please drop me a line. You can catch me by email at lilred@theridersmag.com, or on FB under L’il Red “The Riders Mag”. If you follow the FB page, there’s contests from time to time. Keep you eyes out as well, as we’re also gonna try our hands at FB videos for L’il Red of The Riders Mag. Please be gentle lol.

On Sunday May 7, 2017 the organizers for Hogs for Hospice, and the 1st Evangelical Lutheran Church held their first annual “blessing of the bikes” in Kingsville Ontario, kicking off “ motorcycle safety/ awareness month”. The blessing began at 11 a.m., and before that, and following the blessing, there was live music, refreshments, and aerward a free BBQ for all those in aendance. There were by my count over 130 bikes in aendance. This season has already started off with way too many fatalities, and it was the hope of all in aendance, that the blessing will make our season a much safer season than last year, we realize that our passion can be dangerous, but, with the addition of distracted drivers, it is becoming ever more dangerous, and we as a community, have to be more prudent with our riding, and assist new riders in their journey Rick

Activism – this is a subject which, over the years has enriched me and enraged me, while simultaneously delivering a side order of nausea. So it is when you are passionate about freedom. My ramblings today, it is hoped, will motive you to commit some small gesture of activism that can add to our collective bottom line. Webster’s dictionary defines activism as: a doctrine or practice that emphasizes direct vigorous action especially in support of, or opposition to, one side of a controversial issue. My personal definition is - an individual, or group, that campaigns for social change. I didn’t start out as an activist. In fact, upon reflection, I would bet my baby finger that it never crossed my mind. Most of us were too busy grinding for cash or trying to get a leg over somethin’ – mostly a bike or a chick, Eh Ollie? In my early teens, I came to the biker life because, like many of my peers, I was a rebel, a misfit that rode a motorcycle. Fueled by working-class anger and Irish pride, my crew was tough and up for anything. My first declared club allegiance was three hand painted letters scrawled on the back of my studded jean jacket. What was my very first memory of personal activism? That’s a stretch because, at the time, I was completely unaware that it was activism. I was merely pissed off that the province was enacting a helmet law for motorcycles. I, accompanied by many others, demonstrated at Queens Park by throwing our helmets onto the steps of the legislature. It had zero effect because our group represented such a small percentage of eligible voters. My next demonstration of activism came about because the law was flawed and didn’t specify where the helmet had to be worn so….. I, along with my brothers, rode that whole summer with helmets strapped to our knees or elbows. Which brings me to Activist Rule # Two – Always look for the loopholes that can further your cause. The law was quickly rewritten to define the melon as the only legal body part to benefit from helmet protection; but imagine what might have evolved if we were organized enough to be considered more than an interesting oddity? Back then bikers were not a common breed – we were like little clans constantly at war with each other while the big issues rolled over us. Today it is very different. Slowly, over the years and after experiencing many examples of roadside injustice, I became aware
THE RIDERS MAG ---- PAGE 28
that bikers - particularly clubbers - were increasingly becoming the focus of discrimination by law enforcement. Because of the extreme level of discrimination, I became an activist …. I also became a roadside politician and an investigative journalist, neither of which were my career choices but were, nonetheless, an important toolset in my quest to make change. Why is activism necessary? Cuz, none of us should, or can, rely on our elected governors, or their lackeys, to protect our rights. Citizens of our lifestyle have long been bombarded by inaccurate and fictitious character assassination in the mainstream media. Ours is a culture which, if you believe the reporting, is second only to the premise that all Italians are members of the mafia. Law Enforcement funds a huge propaganda machine which feeds malicious tidbits to a hungry media ready to pounce on any alleged flaw in our lifestyle. Activism can counteract biased media reports and change public perception - but it requires work and commitment. Activist Rule # One - pick a fight that can be won and go about winning it. How can we win? History has taught us that achieving equality and freedom is a long and tedious process. So, why do we rail against those forces? Wouldn’t it be easier and less stressful to cave? I can only speak to that by stating – Freedom and the right to exist as a distinct society! What is the toolset of an activist? Primo is Unity ….Other actions include: passive but determined resistance, direct dialogue with elected officials, positive public relations, peaceful demonstrations, garnering allies and supporting and utilizing the assets of an organization such as the Ontario Confederation of Motorcycle Clubs and Independents. It is also very important to individually challenge any attempt to discriminate against you simple because you wear a patch and ride. I’m not advocating violent behavior. Violence is a tactic that will hinder and harm our cause. One citizen alone cannot prevail against the machine. Remember . . . PICK A FIGHT THAT CAN BE WON! Challenge, in court, any personal infraction, that resulted in a summons, which you feel was a direct result of a discriminatory action by law enforcement. Avoid any personal conversation about your patch etc. Don’t act belligerent as this can lead to a confrontation which could provide justification to assault you or worse. Be calm, be cool, but determined to not engage in chit – chat. You are obligated to provide your paperwork, answer any questions concerning your papers and blow a breathalyzer if asked. Carry your paperwork on your person – never open your bags or backpack as this allows them to examine the contents. Be very careful of what you do or what you say as you may be bordering on a legal concept entitled - implied consent. Control your helmet – remove it only as a last resort but maintain a hold on it and show the LEO that it has a compliance tag inside. If it’s an illegal lid then you may as well hand it over. Remember, your unjustified intrusion probably has nothing to do with a traffic violation and everything to do with information gathering, which is fodder for the
BEU database. Another form of activism is to publicly demonstrate our resolve via peaceful gatherings. Most of you are aware that every year since 2007, the OCC has organized a Unity Ride to debunk the BEU’s bullshit myth of an impending biker war. The ride, which takes place every June, usually attracts about 100 clubbers. This is an important event which should be attended by all members and friends of the OCC. Not once since its inception has there been any altercation or display of animosity during this event; merely activists banding together against a common foe. No article on biker activism would be complete without referencing the struggles of 1% clubbers. Point of Interest . . . It was 1996 when the OCC was originally founded by mostly 1%’ers. Since the episode in Hollister, activism for 1%’ers became a necessity and an integral part of their everyday life. Members of 1% MC’s were constantly in court fighting any number of bullshit traffic offences – most concocted by the police by bastardizing and bending the definition of the offence – but many charges were the result of trampling on the basic rights of those individuals via illegal search & seizure. All attempts were challenged in court – many were epic battles – most were won. These were the first of our freedom fighters; not by choice because, at the time, they were merely trying to find justice in an extremely inhospitable environment. Over the years, LE has constantly relied on unsavory tactics in an attempt to suffocate or diminish our chosen lifestyle. During the course of my life on two-wheels, I have experienced many occasions to verbally fence with 1% detractors (mostly law enforcement or cop buffs). This is expected when you write a pro-biker monthly column - but what has surprised me is the skewed and misinformed concept (amongst many square-john bikers) concerning 1% motorcycle clubs. Deservingly, those cardboard cutouts have earned many acronyms like RUB’s (Rich Urban Bikers), and my personal favorite, BAMBI’s (Born Again Middle Aged Bikers), etc. Many of their kind have come & gone – it’s usually a five year cycle from motorcycle purchase to motorcycle sell off, or sell out, whichever you prefer. IMHO, they are comparable to dust devils in the desert wind - bashing about in a scenario that is impossible for them to comprehend – causing malicious damage before they finally self-destruct. Real social change comes from personal action – to do nothing merely reinforces our detractors resolve. Activism is the only way to get our message out to the general public. Activism opens dialogue and affords an opportunity to deflate the deluge of propaganda and misinformation about the biker lifestyle. Larry Lilly OCC Treasurer Rooster Rider

It has been busy times for Hogtown since they opened the doors here five years ago, but each July, they take busy to a whole new dimension! “Baconfest”, the brainchild of Mike and Teresa, is the Annual celebration of all things bacon that will once again, take over the Town of Lucan! This year promises to be the best one yet! Since its inception Baconfest has really taken on a life of its own and continues to grow at an alarming pace! What was once just a small event that the Hogtown Crew created to help celebrate the anniversary of their opening, continues to flourish and grow! It is an event that brings excitement to the Town and revenue to the local economy! More people discover this Gem of an event with each passing year and it isn’t just for “Bikers” anymore. The acceptance, rapid growth and popularity of the event soon overwhelmed the capacity of Hogtown’s large property and Mike and Teresa rented the Fairgrounds and Arena to accommodate the crowds and “Hogland” was born! The “Harley Pulls” and Bikini Bike Wash have proven to be a huge hit with attendees and more events and attractions, like the Show and Shine, Vendors area and huge Beer Garden have also been added to the itinerary. But it isn’t all just beer, bacon and fun and games at Hogtown! They take motorcycles and their responsibility to their customers very seriously! Wow, hard to believe the July issue is at deadline! Since last month’s issue the boss & I have gone through almost daily appointments with doctors, dentist and optometrists, along with a few specialist appointments at the hospital. I now know what Critter and Al have been going through lately, poked, prodded and x-rayed to the limit! Although their experiences have been more severe, it’s still a pain in the ass (so to speak) cutting into our riding time!! I wasn’t able to make a ride put on by the ACC to Charlottetown to protest PEI’s negativity of our way of life, but judging by no media coverage and no reports back to me, it seems to have went well. Good news for a change! I also got a call from brother, John Lacroix from NBS Riders saying our “Pee Wee Merritt ” ride ran without a hitch back in Port Colborne, Ont. with a great turn out and a great ride had by all. Everyone should put it on their “bucket list” for next year! I managed to scope out a bike and trailer combo that is indicated of the east coast way of life, why hit a party with a 12 pack when you can bring a whole keg! This ride is owned by Marc Caissie from Moncton… Great planning!

This is one of the craziest times of year for me. My youngest is graduating High School and is off to bigger and better things in two short months, the empty nest syndrome starting to creep in and riding season is just getting into full swing. Lots of events to take in and to top it off I purchased a new little getaway nestled at the foot of the Wentworth Mountains a move that I am just getting unpacked from. The Masstown Market has been the site for a Tuesday Bikers Night for several years. This Jennings family started the market in 1969 as a farm-gate operation and has grown to be a local landmark known for its great selection of quality foods and gifts, its music and fish and chips by the lighthouse and the amazing friendly service. Located West of Truro at Exit #12 just off the Trans-Canada Highway, offers year round service 7 days a week 9 AM-9 PM. On the 13th of June I made it to my first of the year and was pleased to see approximately forty bikes which I thought was pretty good considering the threat of rain and cooler temperatures. It was great to see some of the winter modifications people did on their rides and also saw a few sporting completely new rides. The Market opens up its back parking lot for us and they

have been very supportive understanding the strengths of the biker community and recognizing that being “biker friendly” can add to their bottom line, something that not all business seem to understand and need to be “educated” on.
Another large event last month was the Truro Temp Chapters Bikers Against Child Abuse (B.A.C.A.) 100 Mile Ride. This inaugural ride went off much better then expected seeing almost eighty bikes participate. The event is its major annual fundraiser and a compulsory event for members that goes worldwide rain or shine! The ride began with registration at the ValleyKemptown Firehall in Bible Hill. The ride went down through the very scenic route to Parsboro with stops in Great Village and just outside Glenholme. Copious amounts of warm drinks were had at the stops
and more layers were added to counter the less than warm temps. The beauty of that shore and especially the area near Five Islands Provincial Park made for a spectacular line of bikes winding up and down the hills. If you were at the back
of the pack on the way home you could see riders leaning their bikes sideways into the wind to stay upright from the stiff breeze blowing of the Bay of Fundy. The ride was followed by entertainment by Adam MakBain and a silent auction. The site generously donated by The Engine Room Pub in Truro on the Esplanade. Thanks to all for the generous donations by all the businesses and individuals for the auction items this very successful event has given this amazing organization the funds to help support these wounded warriors and empower them to deal with living in an imperfect world. Many events coming up in Nova Scotia this month the Camp Connect fundraiser/ ride for burn victims goes on July 16th from 10:30-11:30 at the Bible Hill Firehall 69 Pictou Road. The Bordertown Rally in Amherst is July 21st-23rd and on the 22nd The Jokers Wild have a Poker Run starting at Parkside Pub and Grill in Highfield Park, Dartmouth registration from 10-11 AM Summer is here ride safe and if you are in Nova Scotia look me up, pitch a tent in my yard right next to the stocked pond and we can share some lies around my campfire.

Down London Way with Irish
The Lucan, based, independently owned bike shop, celebrated their 5th year in business on May 13 with a massive spring sale.
And what a day it was thanks to the efforts of husband and wife team Mike and Teresa just about everything in the store was marked down – including a large selection of late-model Harleys, parts , service , attire and accessories. All available and in large quantities too! – hell, you could of had Mike for the price of a couple of cold beers and a cigar. I rolled in at 10am on a beautiful spring day and already the place was buzzing. Bikes everywhere, the classic rock band, Roy’s Garage, were warming up, the pro-

fessionally out-fitted food tent, compliments of Smackwater Jacks, featured anything and everything pork. The enticing aroma of fried pork rinds, ribs and pulled pork was irresistible even for those trying to shed a few pounds. I didn’t see a vegan anywhere. Parts, parts and more parts. Hogtown parts mgr, Kyle, did an awesome job showcasing hundreds of items on sale. Everything from seats, tires, new and used exhausts, helmets, gloves and tons of chrome all laid out nicely for easy pickin’s. For a young cat he certainly knows his stuff. The full service shop boasts two licensed techs headed by son Matt. The boys can repair, install, rebuild and upgrade any ride at a fair price, on time and on budget. For a complete list of service go to hogtowncycles.ca or call 519 227 1331 Not to be out done, the front end of the store features a lot of gently used Harleys. You name it and they probably have it. If not they’ll get it for you. Sales guru Paul is the guy you want to talk to about finding that perfect ride. You can’t have sales without great marketing and that’s where Teresa hits it out of the park. From clothing to jewlery to all forms of media she is the go to person at hog town. Customer service rep Trish is always close by and eager to help. And then there’s Mike, well mike is the floater. He can
wrench on a ride, make an honest suggestion for that new part, arrange financing or fix the plumbing. Mike believes in building long-term relationships with customers and it’s evident with all the repeat business walking through the doors the last 5 years. For those of us who experienced arrogant sales people, second rate customer service and shoddy repairs (we know who they are) take a rip to Hogtown where you’ll be treated with respect and dignity, fair prices, great selection and fantastic service. Cheers!!! - Irish I can’t close this story without mentioning Baconfest!!!!!! What is Bacon fest? I’m glad you asked. It’s a one day party on July 8th in Lucan, on – oddly enough the hometown of Hogtown Cycles. This year’s event features Vendor Villages, Live Bands, Beer Gardens(that’s where you’ll find me, Critter and the rest of the Rider’s Mag Crew), Show & Shine, Kid’s Zone, Breakfast Charity Run, Custom Bike Show presented by the Rider’s Mag, Biker Games and Harley Pulls. Oh yeah bacon - lots and lots of bacon – in fact if it’s pork you’ll find it on the menu at the many food vendors located in town. Not coinvinced yet? Go to www.lucanbaconfest.ca for a complete lineup of events. See you there,
“Down but Not Out”
A fire ripped through the unit located next door to PD Restorations on April 18. The family owned business sustained heavy smoke and water damage and as a result lost thousands of dollars in inventory. It also forced a delay in their main business of repairing and re-building motorcycles. Ok so that’s the down part.
The “not out part” of the story goes something like this: Shop owner Phil Dickson, wife Lynda and daughter Krystle were devastated. They were later informed by authorities the fire was deliberately set. Undaunted they began the cleanup. Friends and customers alike pitched in to help. A few days later they were up and running, new inventory is arriving daily and staff is being paid. I spoke with Krystle and she said “by the end of May we’ll be running flat out again.” Not only that, the family decided to expand and leased the unit that was destroyed and doubling their space to 6,500 sq ft. She said the new space will feature a larger showroom because they’re selling more bikes that ever before and a lager selection of inventory. With expansion comes job opportunity – PD is looking to hire another tech. Give Krystle a call @ 519 652 6200 to find out more. Cheers to PD Restorations!! Irish

Places to go and people to see...finally out to visit some of the friendly faces Rode my scooter from Picky Pickering into southern Scarberia to Malicious Cycle and Clothing..there I met the usual Smilin’ Bryan doing it all ...Big things happening since my last visit. He never stops expanding, now has his own brand new T-Shirt printing machine, not the old silk screen method here....it’s hi-tech stuff. Back in the day you’d get one colour, and pay extra for another. This thing can do 30
colours at the same cost ...If your club or whatever needs some work done... get over there...price is right and he can of course supply the shirts at a bargain as well. He took over some more space in the building and I expect will offer other services as well to the motorcycle community... The service department is humming of course this time of year...more first time customers to look after he tells me... clothing section has a lot of cool new Malicious gear and all kinds of support clothing as well. Also he has just obtained a massive amount of Victory clothing (for you Vic Riders get your ass over there this is a one time thing)...He bought it all for a very good number. I saw super leather jackets (ladies and men’s) that would sell for 5-600 bucks going for only 150 $ .... this stuff is top quality ..If you want he can badge over the Victory name with whatever you need. . Also there are baseball caps/ shirts/vests ect ect...Shit we all pay too much for motor-
THE RIDERS MAG ----- PAGE 44
cycle gear so check it out and save a ton. While you are there you can get a new tattoo as right next store to Bryans is EAST END INK ...I imagine that since they are somewhat new you won’t have to wait months for a booking as it’s a busy trade now-a -days.....so gas up your ride you can head over for service go for a new tat and load up on new
clothes the ole stop shoppin’ deal. Speaking of Victory as you know Polaris pulled the plug on the line, which was a surprise to me, just when they were getting some decent traction in the market. We have all read Donny Petersen’s reviews/comparisons and in my humble opinion he was right on the money. The issues many had with Vics were not on the tech side but more the look/resale/lack of dealer network ... On three separate occasions I had my old ass on different models note the pic with my ass on victory down in Cali... Off the get go compared to my stock 88 Twinkie, they had more power.. better brakes...decent handling. Anyhow we all wonder if Polaris will put more effort into the Indian ...so far lets just say I am under-whelmed ...some of them are so ugly they
would make freight train go down a dirt road...(on record I am not knocking anyone’s choice....I learned a long time go there is a butt for EVERY seat) I have owned many HD’s and I probably put one the Willie G Davidson’s’ grandkids thru college with what I have spent over the years... but I do not regret it. I hit Eagle Eye Customs to yak with owner Bob, he has done very well with his shop over in Whitby since he opened several years back. Always a source of advice which comes from years and years of experience. Most of us when we start out think we know it all....I admit I was too stubborn to ask for guidance and wished I had on some of things I did with my rides. Also I checked with him and he does offer service to those that have bought used bikes with after market warranties from a few different companies. And of course store full of shiny stuff for your two wheeled conveyance. These two ouits Malicious and Eagle Eye are big supporters in the motorcycle community...as well as Riders Mag friends go see them and what the can do for you. We have several indies out in Durham...a shout out to Bill and Ron at Motor City Customs I have known them since Ron’s son Jamie was just young kid hanging around the shop...Jamie is now full time on the bench wrenching alongside his dad...and from what I hear he is an ace bike wizard like his old man! Now one day they gotta let the Mag do a feature on them...a lot of history there, whenever I drop by you never know who you will see there ..some old school scooter trash and newbie’s as well.. You will note Critter gives nick-names to many of us...Dangerous Donnie...Lil Red...Sticker Chick ect ect....Well I have named him Righteous Rick for all he does to keep the little mag that grew moving onwards and upwards.. onwards.. The guy was trucking up the and down GTA highways in his rig while running the MAG from a phone and computer time at home...not to mention the 100’s of visits he makes to shops/events/stores/clubhouses/funerals you name it...I cannot for life of me figure out how he does it... Shit I can spend all day trying to make a samich...and still not get r done! ..Anyway from me to you Righteous Rick thanks for what you do... The TV show Gangland Undercover season 2 was off to a rocky start with it only been shown once in Canada...but in the States there are huge numbers wanting to see it again and hoping season 3 will be filmed....Several of our readers of mag are in the show including your humble Durham Scribbler....One of the main actors Thomas Mitchell shows up here and there...saw him at Malicious a few times...most likely will be doing some riding down the road soon..here’s a pic of some of the background guys and actors in season 2 at the bike show. Many of us will hook in Dover shortly for meet...Have to see if Big Ed and Gypsy want to ride down ...here’s some pix of the guys in the show... By the time you read this the Riders Mag Show and Shine at Oliver’s Ale House will have taken place...A shout out to Dave the owner ... Red and White Toronto East has their Show and Shine at Malicious July 8th....bbq/all the cool stuff... So I am running out of time and ideas so I shall drift off...and cya all soon oh yah a shout out to my bride who just had her 60th b day...i told her she’s only 41 (Metric).
THE RIDERS MAG ----- PAGE 45
Last year around this time I mentioned that one of the many positive things that The Riders Mag provides is that we help the various Biker Communities know about businesses that support riders in their area and in return we want riders to respond much in the same way and where possible patronize those biker friendly businesses. One example of a business like that is B.A. Machine Performance Cycle because in the last month several rides have used B.A Machine as departure point for their rides because they wanted to show their appreciation to owners, Peri & Tim Poirier even though on some of those occasions it has meant Peri and Tim coming in on their one day off and opening up the shop just so people could have a look. In a repeat of last year, the Burn Out Boys started their 4th annual BOB Ride at B.A. but this year instead of Peri providing coffee and timbits, The Celtic Brotherhood provided the participants with one of their “free breakfasts” which the TCB used to show their appreciation to B.A. Machine for all they do for the motorcycle community and promoting brain injury awareness and much like last year there were about 160 bikes roughly that took part in
the ride. There were lots of different patches like BACA, Simple Men MC, Outlaws MC and Veterans Canada as well as 6*0*1 and the Dedicated Few RC. The next morning we headed down to Cornwall to take part in the Ride for the Children’s Treatment Center and this is the second year I have been to this ride and multiparticipation event which starts and ends on the St. Lawrence C o l l e g e C a m p u s situated on the river’s edge which has an awesome view of the water and provides lots of shade from the trees. The motorcycle event is hosted by Perry and Geneane Montgomery and the Dedicated Few RC who are familiar sites at rides in Ottawa and even as far up the Ottawa Valley as the Snake River Rodeo hosted by the Simple Men MC and they are also member of SOAR (Society of Ottawa Area Riders) of eastern Ontario as well. There were a lot of very familiar faces and patches as I toured the crowd including several members of BACA including Titan, and some of the seaway area clubs like the Road Snakes RC, the Last Stand RC, the Seaway Independents. Some other familiar faces I encountered were Mr. Irish himself, Barry Horan and Bill Amell, who is the creator of B.A.K (original mobile memorials) which are small urns you can put on your handlebars to bring a bit of the ashes of someone special who has gone on to Valhalla wherever you ride and for me that is Garth, the wonder Doberman my service dog who became beloved in the motorcycle communities we visited and this
THE RIDERS MAG ----- PAGE 46
way he and I are still on the road together. While the ride was out we took time to enjoy the scenery of Hwy 2 along the St. Lawrence river to say hello to the Gillard family who operate one of the most biker-friendly fry and dairy stands anywhere and on the highway. Years ago when we lived down in the Seaway area we used to promote motorcycle cruise-in nights every Thursday which is still going on today and because they are always posting posters for rides and events in the area they have become a regular stopping point for many of those same rides and best of all you can pickup your copy of The Riders Mag there while filling your face. We returned to the end of ride back in Cornwall and while everyone was getting fed they handed out the prizes and I have to tell you that Perry and crew outdid themselves including some time at a paintball games facility for a fairly large size group and I can think of a hundred bikers I know who would have thought they won the lottery for a prize like that. Perry and the Dedicated RC asked me to mention thank you to all who participated and especially to the Simple Men Mc who traveled all the way from the Ottawa Valley, BACA (Ottawa Chapter) and The Celtic Brotherhood and he looks forward to an even larger event next year with maybe a few surprise changes I always ask my readers to support biker-friendly businesses and you can find many of them right here in the Mag because these businesses support your local
motorcycle community and we should do the same and recently I visited a new business started up by a young couple we met at the Ottawa Motorcycle Show a year ago. I would have taken a personal day off but when they told me that they were having a Grand Opening BBQ for their business called DIY Moto Inc that may be the answer to many riders who want to do a bit of work on their bike and could do it themselves if they only had a place to do it and maybe some tools they don’t have well DIY Moto Inc is a sort of rent-a-bay garage that you could do that. What actually got me to attend was that all the funds raised would be donated to the OBIA (Ontario
THE RIDERS MAG ----- PAGE 47
Ontario region and was a regular at any event that the Mag or TCB were part of. Denis passed away a little over a year ago and when I was asked to attend the 5th 2804 Dice Run they informed me they were going to dedicate the run in his honor and it was an emotional time for many who attended. Truth is I figured that after last year it would most likely be my last time attending the run but then a mutual friend of Denis and I, Michel Dupuis contacted me about wanting to continue to advertise the Dice Run in the Mag and I realized I was in for year six . During our discussion the possibility of The Celtic Brotherhood Brain Injury Assoc) how could I possibly say no and to coming out and doing top it off they lured one of Ottawa’s best known Blues one of their Free singers Maria Hawkins to come and entertain the crowd Breakfasts was talked for an hour and Maria is a close friend who once sang at about and by the week’s a surprise birthday party for me and people who attended end the 1st Annual still talk about that night. Anyhow the garage is well set Denis Renaud Memorial Breakfast was born. This ride has grown over the last six years with riders from all over the eastern Ontario / Ottawa area to take part and now riders from the western Quebec and the Montreal area too so it was no surprise attendance this year was over and more important the return ratio of riders to take part in the after-ride events and to eat and socialize was way up too.
up and perhaps those who like to tinker on their own bikes or just add a new accessory should drop by DIY Moto Inc and check it out and you will find their ad by my article. I have been a regular at the 2804 Dice Run in Casselman Ontario since it’s beginning over 6 years ago when one of the founders, Denis Renaud asked me to come out and bring a bundle of The Riders Mag to give to all the participants in the run. He was the kind of guy who made the effort to take part in other group’s events in the eastern
THE RIDERS MAG ----- PAGE 48
The members of TCB who could make it along with the much needed assistance of the lovely Bette, and Marie ‘Flipper’ MacGillis and Stephanie Beriault both members of the Burn Out Boys turned out about 350 breakfasts for the riders and as well fed many of the army cadets and volunteers, I forgot how much a teenager can eat. Much thanks to Michel Dupuis and Claude Brunet for not only getting all the necessary food for the breakfast but for the opportunity they allowed for us to in a meaningful way honor Denis’s memory because I am sure he was looking down from Valhalla and proud as hell at how his event has
grown. Along the wall from us some members of BACA (Bikers Against Child Abuse) were set up and they spent much of the afternoon chatting with the public and explaining just exactly what their mandate is and how they go about trying to provide support for children who are abused and also to give them the strength to move forward. There are always a number of vendors set up around the grounds and for those who don’t feel like going on the ride itself there are also various activities taking place while the ride is out and I should mention that all those who register are given swag bags as a way of saying thank you. It is so seldom that you see
almost any town let alone a city where they openly show real support for young people who may be considering a career in our armed forces and at the least even if they don’t follow it up they are given life skills such as first aid and emergency response that is so lacking in most young people today. Later in the day when the riders returned instead of the usual hamburgers and hot dogs the Dice Run fed everyone with giant slices of pizza supplied by one of the town’s businesses along with french fries and cups of St. Alberts cheese curds
and if we had some gravy I guess it would have been pizza and poutine. By the time we left Casselman we were beat but we also had that feeling of being part of something that was a huge success and looking forward to next year’s Dice Run. I want to remind you all that on July 8th in Ottawa is the 5th Annual Ride for Autism will be held again at the Brown’s Independent Grocer on Main St in Stittsville and this year promises to be the best ever with possibly TCB doing a breakfast and some new games. As usual some great prizes and auction but best of all it is for a very good cause because autism touches nearly every family and support can help make the difference between hardship and hope for those who need us. For those of you who
THE RIDERS MAG ----- PAGE 49
are south of Ottawa please remember the 6*0*1 MC will be having their 2nd Annual Motorcycle Kickstart Classic starting from the Spencerville Hotel in Spencerville and John and the boys will be having a party and games later at a different location. Lastly I want to remind all my readers about the upcoming Rideau Rendezvous Motorcycle Rally taking place in Smiths Falls from July 14th to the 16th and from what I am told it promises to be quite the
THE RIDERS MAG ----- PAGE 50
event with as many as five bands playing over the weekend and a motorcycle ride on Saturday morning for children’s charities and a second one Sunday morning called Ride for Pet Rescues. Hopefully The Celtic Brotherhood will be serving a free breakfast to the riders both days and there will be several demonstrations Saturday of the Busted Bucket Challenge which promotes brain injury awareness. Throughout the weekend there will be demonstrations of the “Bully Be Gone” program which helps children to develop confidence and to deal with situations where they are being bullied. You will find advertisements for the Rideau Rendezvous on other pages in the Mag and if you are a vendor or someone who would like to “Be A Part Of History” as they say, then please be sure and contact these folks about taking part in what I hope becomes an annual event in eastern Ontario region. As always I remind all of you to please support the events and rides that are created and run by riders and clubs because these are the same people that will come to your events and rides! Also if you have an event or a ride or you are a business that deals with either motorcycles or the people who ride them you might want to consider advertising in The Riders Mag or even to become a distributor, If so please contact me by email or phone and as always I want you all to remember that We make our motorcycle communities stronger...by making them better! Who’s afraid to go on a Charity ride? Ride with a purpose! There’s nothing that’s so much fun as going out on a ride with friends and maybe meeting a couple new people. It’s even better when you ride supporting a good cause. Ontario Confederation of Clubs’ member clubs raised over $300,000 in charity funds through rides, show and shines and other events last year alone! Our Bikers’ Church in Hamilton sends a busload of kids to camp every summer with proceeds from our spring swap meet and fall ride and our participants love doing this community service. One problem we’d noticed is that some experienced biker friends avoid public rides because they’ve seen some new riders cause accidents and near misses. We overcame that problem by getting away from that wonderful guided and blocked parade of over 100 bikes. We tried progressive blocking first but that has inherent problems as well. So we now give everyone directions of our destinations with stops and times (and a map if they want it) and everyone is happy. We’ve drawn on many supportive biker friends to be leaders of the smaller groups and this works really well and of course, the BBQ and door prizes at the end make everyone glad they came along. A big shout of thanks to you all! Some of my best friends like Sammy, Joe, Mike, and Kevin have been a tremendous help, jumping in to map out and guide the fall ride, especially when my clutch hand was operated on...not to mention my other advisor, Toronto Mike who also proofreads my articles. Many charity rides support kids and those less fortunate and I know God smiles when He sees us doing this good work together. Jesus said in Matthew 25:40, “Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.” He was talking about taking care of the poor, hungry, sick, or imprisoned in any way, no matter what their age. He went so far as to tell us we had better take good care of our children in Matthew Chapters 18, 19, and Luke chapter 17. So ride with a good purpose and make a difference! Please pray with me now: Our Father, God, I believe in You; help the parts of my unbelief. Please bless us and protect us this summer as we do good deeds of charity for our fellow human beings. May none of our children go hungry or be sick anymore. In Jesus’ name I ask this. Amen. All God’s blessings to you this riding season! These long early days of the riding season, around the longest day of the year are always some of the best. Mix this with some of the best weather we have had in years and you have a recipes for some fantastic riding. Our riding communities are alive with just so many events, it truly is finally here. For me, its home that matters most and that is central Alberta and Drumheller. So many great rides like the OBB spring run, Two wheel Sunday, the 2nd annual Emily’s Memorial Motorcycle ride for Mental Health Awareness, Bailey’s ride Brining Awareness to Children with Arthritis to name but a few. So many great rides, places and people but again this month, my main focus is close to home with the 8th annual Badlands Motorcycle Awareness and Teddy Bear Run sponsored by Whitestar Permaculture. Yea, I know May is motorcycle awareness month but hey, we stretched it out a bit to be able to fit in the giant car show in Three Hills, more on that later. What a better way of starting things with the Extra Foods “Gathering of the bears” charity BBQ. Extra foods has been graciously donating their parking lot for the gathering and start off point and providing a BBQ start off for our visiting riders. They, like so many other business, have served as collection points for those wanting to donate bears or toys but could not ride. So many people have donated and local business not only contributing but taking part in everything it takes to put on events like this. Community minded businesses and people like Linda and Daryl Buchamer of Top Rocker, Richard Pylypiw of Western GM and Chris Lowen of Specialized Desanders Inc to again only name a few. Your input and support are always much appreciated and truly help to make this event a success. Although the pic only shows a few of the bears on a stretcher, over Three hundred bears were donated at the Hospital to be dispersed to all of the Drumheller

and areas Emergency Service crews. With the bears being delivered and in good hands at the hospital, it was out for the ride to Big Valley for some lunch, then onto Three Hills for that cars show. This show has been around since 1981. Although it is not geared for motorcycles, there were allowances for this great cause, “Stop Bully” was there with a bike raffle, was nice to see, looked like a popular booth, I
have my ticket! With hundreds if not a thousand of every kind of crazy cagey configuration imaginable, it’s hard to resist taking it all in. From here it was down to the Carbon Valley Hotel and then onto the final destination, the Dinosaur Hotel in Newcastle Drumheller with Brent and Karen Powel for an amazing evening of great food, and live music. Man, this is the stuff I dream about on the long February nights. With the ride done, food eaten, poker hand tallied and more money donated back (thanks Dave Lee) to the kids. This is when it really sinks in that the gestures and donations we make in lighter times are going to comfort a Child or family in need when any of our emergency services are required, especially involving children. Good job everyone, see you next year. In my endeavor to try to collect and describe what has been happening in our province, an e-mail was answered and new acquaintances were made. One reason for this is to see what’s happening in South East Alberta. Well,
I would like to introduce to you, Momma Mandy with a catch up of what’s been happening in this part of the province. Momma is well connected and as you will see very much active in the South East. Thanks again for sharing momma, looking forward to your updates. Greetings from just outside of Medicine Hat, Ab (Sunshine state of mind). Redcliff, Ab which is the Greenhouse capital of the world. Medicine Hat and Redcliff have a combined population of just over 69,000. We’re located along the South Saskatchewan River with beautiful coulee’s, rolling prairies and the highest amount of daylight hour in all of Canada. As a rider, you know what that equates to, more time to ride. First of all, I’d like to introduce myself, some call me Mandy but most people know me as Momma. I am a mother of 9 children, 5 of my own and 4 of my husband’s, grandmother of 13 and Momma to all. I got bit by the riding bug back when I was about 16 and it has grown into a way of life for me. I’ve ridden on the back of a bike most of my life but in 2005 I decided that I needed my own bike. I started out with a sweet 2005 Dyna Lowrider that I put a lot of kms on until 2016 when I graduated to a Street Glide. If I knew at 16 what I know now I would have been riding my own bike sooner. There’s nothing more powerful than having your own cure to everything. Having a bad day…RIDE, have a hangover...RIDE. I like to call it my wind Therapy. There’s nothing that can’t be cured with a little wind in your hair and bugs in your teeth. I was excited when Dan T contacted me through the S.E.A.R (South Eastern Alberta Riders) email address expressing the need for a little help with covering biker events in our area. I rode to Drumheller to meet with Dan to discuss the possibility of helping him out with his page “Just East of the Rockies”. What can I tell you, the meeting was a success and right up my alley. For many years I have become known as the “Lady who Takes all the Pictures” at all the events around Medicine Hat and area. Trust me I have a few…lol. Eventually a lot of the MG’s were inviting me to their events to take pictures to post on their FB pages. For me this was a stepping stone to sharpen my photography skills and get out to do something I love to do “RIDE” When the oil economy in Medicine Hat slowed in 2016 I found myself unemployed and looking for a new direction. Being a Jack of all trades I decided that I would work for myself doing all the things I loved to do. This would give me ample time to take in all the Bike events that I loved so much, so here I am ready to share all my bike adventures with everyone, Canada Wide. Enough about me, lets get to the stuff that makes our hearts beat and our Blood Flow – Riding Motorcycles. In our small community of 69,000 we had 17 Motorcycle Groups who were represented at the blessing of the bikes here in Redcliff May 7th. This is quite the representation so as you can well imagine Momma’s going to have many events to cover this summer. Since this is my first time writing for this Magazine I’d like to give you a little background on some of the groups that I have the honor of being a part of. Either as a member or as a historian for the group. S.E.A.R (South Eastern Alberta Riders) - in 2006 8 guys rode to Ceylon, a small town in Saskatchewan to attend a Labour day run to raise money for Charity. When they got back to Medicine Hat and recovered from their hangovers
they figured “fuck that was fun, let’s do that here”. That’s when SEAR was started. Their mission was to put on 2 poker runs a year. One called “When Hell Has Thawed” in the spring and the other called “When Hell Freezes” in the fall as well as a Bike Rodeo in June every year, which they named The Dead Hog Boogie. Like all events it took a while to establish, SEAR is in it’s 11th year. We have 18 members (Men and Women) who work at giving back to the community with a special interest in helping provide handicapped children with some of the things that are unattainable by the average person, special wheelchairs or learning tools not covered by government funded programs. and raising awareness that bikers are contributing to society in a positive way. We work at taking the Stereotype out of the word BIKER. Friends of the Kanuckleheads – In 2012 the founding members of this group (The original 4) were in Sturgis at the Knuckle Saloon where Troy decided to enter into a MMA fighting match with the other 3 being his corner men. After winning his first match in short order Troy asked for a second match and won that as well. They then were known as the Canadian Knuckle heads. In short, they changed it up to the Kanuckleheads. They ride. They laugh. They Cocktail and they just fucking wing it. Brothers Without Colors – A group of guys who love to ride. They live for freedom with no political ties, where blood makes you related and loyalty makes you family. These Brothers live by the Biker Code and work hard and play Harder. RIDERS FOR HALO - This group I will mention more in detail at the end of this column. WINTER BIKER BLUES POKER STUMBLE In February of this year “S.E.A.R” came up with the idea that we should bring all 4 MG’s together “S.E.A.R,
THE RIDERS MAG ----- PAGE 57
KANUCKLEHEADS, BROTHERS WITHOUT COLORS and RIDERS FOR HALO” to plan an event. Everyone was experiencing PMS and NO!! it had nothing to do with Bitchy women and more to do with Parked Motorcycle Syndrome. As bikers’ we all experience it during the winter, that is unless you are fortunate to live somewhere you can ride all year round. The need to get together with our brothers and sisters to have a drink (or two) and shoot the shit was on all our minds.
What better way to do that than to organize a poker run, in our case it would be a “Poker Stumble”. Unlike last year where we were riding our bikes in February this year proved to be a little colder. With all 4 MG’s in agreement we decided the location of this Stumble would be in Redcliff as there are 3 bars and 2 of the MG’s having Garages there. We canvased the area for donation for a Silent auc-
THE RIDERS MAG ----- PAGE 58
tion, sold 50/50 tickets and each MG would be responsible for a stop whether it being a bar or their garage. The two MG’s with the garage stops would serve beverages on donation basis. Redcliff being a small town and everything pretty much in walking (stumbling) distance, we had an amazing turnout. Both the “Kanuckleheads” and the “Brothers Without Colors” donated what they had collected for donations. We ended up raising $2,048.75 for HALO (Helicopter Air Li Operation) and 1,900.00 for the Medicine Hat Food Bank. We walked away from the event with a sense of pride, accomplishment and possibly a hangover or two. Was such a success we are planning to make the “WINTER BIKER BLUES POKER STUMBLE” an annual event. March 25th “S.E.A.R”., “Kanuckleheads”, “Brother’s Without Colors” and “Riders for Halo” met at the Kin Coulee Park in Medicine Hat to present HALO with a cheque for the $2,048.75 we had raised at The Poker Stumble in February
KANUCKLEHEADS SPRING BREAK POKER RUN April 22 was the first poker run of the year held by the Friends of the Kanuckleheads. It’s their annual Spring Break Poker Run with 100% of the proceeds given back to the rider. The weather was a bit chilly but that didn’t stop the riders from showing up and enjoying the day. REDCLIFF & AREA SWAP MEET Being some years since Redcliff and Area had a swap meet. “S.E.A.R.” took the undertaking of planning and hosting their first Swap Meet. It was held at the Redcliff Arena April 29th. For it being the first Swap Meet in a few years the response was outstanding. 31 venders were in
attendance, some traveling from Saskatchewan to take part. There were approximately 350 visitors coming through the doors throughout the day. With multiple business donating items for door prices, beer gardens, show n shine and a food vender, everyone left with a smile on their face. “The Kanuckleheads”, “Brothers without Colors”, “Riders for Halo” and “S.E.A.R.” were all in attendance so it was the perfect opportunity to make the presentation to Bob Dimmer a representative from the Medicine Hat Food Bank in the amount of $1,900.00 raised at the February Poker Stumble. The venue for the Swap Meet was donated to “S.E.A.R “at no cost by the Town of Redcliff, so it was decided that “S.E.A.R” would donate
some of the proceeds from the 50/50 and door sales to the Redcliff Youth Center, A non-profit, charitable organization that provides a safe, constructive and substance free environment for youths ages 10 to 17. S.E.A.R HELL THAWS POKER RUN May 13 S.E.A.R. hosted their annual “Hell Thaws Poker Run”. Before everyone headed out on the ride CRASH (Ron
Hildebrandt) President of S.E.A.R. presented Janae Ulrich from the Redcliff Youth Centre with a cheque for $1,500.00 that was raised at the Swap Meet to show our appreciation to the Town of Redcliff for their generosity.
With approximately 60 bikes in attendance the winning poker hand was 3 Aces for $500.00 to Cindy Keeler of Medicine Hat. The 50/50 in the amount of $135.00 was won by the “Brothers Without Colors” who donated it back to S.E.A.R for the next Charity presentation that will be made after the Dead Hog Boogie being Held in Manyberries, AB June 23,24 and 25. This is a 3 day event which usually brings bikers out from all over Canada. This year is the 11th Annual and is expected to be great time. Band, Biker Rodeo & Pig Roast.
BADLANDS HARLEY DAVIDSON HOTRODS & HARLEY’S SHOW N SHINE Ivan Karsten from Badlands Harley-Davidson in Medicine Hat invited me to cover the 9th Annual Hotrods & Har-

known Tuesday Night Bike Night. Starting the first Tuesday in May there’s a show N shine that lets the winner have bragging rights, a bottle of champagne and a $25 bar tab that you can use to bribe your friends to vote for you…lol. Each week the winner gets his or her picture taken with their bike to display in the bar. The last Tuesday in August is when all the winners come back for the Finals. The Irvine Hotel Patio is such a popular place that The Santa Claus Toy Run in September begins there with Lou and the staff hosting a Pancake Breakfast for a donation to all the bikers and non-bikers to enjoy, which Lou incidentally donates to the Toy Run. Lou at the Irvine hotel is a great supporter of the Motorcycle groups in and around Southeastern Alberta, donating in numerous ways.
ley’s Show ‘N’ Shine. Ivan loves to organize this event on a yearly basis with the help of his staff and the members of HOG. This year was no different. The sun was shining the band was awesome and with a number of classic cars and a ton of bikes, it was the place to be.
IRVINE TUESDAY NIGHT BIKE NIGHT AND SHOW N SHINE Every Tuesday Night in Irvine, AB Lou Hashem at the Irvine Hotel hosts a Bike Night and Show N Shine. On a sunny Tuesday night, it wouldn’t be unusual for 100+ bikes and bikers to show up throughout the evening to the Irvine Hotel Patio and enjoy a burger and a beer. Lou went from having an overgrown area in the back of the hotel with a couple of plastic chairs, to an area where you can socialize with fellow bikers enjoying one of Lou’s famous BBQ’s burgers and a beer. Over the years Lou had to put in a Bar and add on to the Patio to accommodate the growing number of patrons who were showing up for the well-

If you’re ever passing through on the Number 1 Highway be sure to stop in and say hi to Lou and Margaret, they’ll welcome you with open arms and cook you up a damn good burger. RIDERS FOR HALO As I had mentioned before I wanted to talk a little more about “Riders for Halo”, June 4th, I had the opportunity to sit down with “Riders for HALO”. This fundraising organization raises funds solely for the HALO (Helicopter Air Lift Operation) program. Since 2007 HALO has a proven track record of supporting and enhancing the local ground ambulance program with the use of a Bell 206L helicopter for scene response and transport from remote or highly inaccessible places such as farm, motor vehicle, oilfield, boating, skiing, horseback riding and ATV accidents, as well as missing person searches. Over half of the missions flown have been life saving. The annual budget for this life saving service is over $935,000.00. In 2013 Blair Carriere (Riders for HALO Founder and President) went to his first STARS Air Ambulance Run organized by Joe Davis, it was an amazing experience and stuck with Blair in a profound way. When he came home he had his mind set that he was going to make this happen in Medicine Hat. That year Joe Davis decided that he wasn’t getting enough help and quit as the run organizer. This
to Blair was more incentive to make it happen here in Southern Alberta and Southern Saskatchewan. After much research, Blair realized the STARS Air Ambulance did not service Southern Alberta and that the service was government funded. More research by Blair found that HALO was the service that covered Southern Alberta and operated solely by public donations. Blair had found his direction. 2014 was the 1st “Riders for HALO Fuel Booster Poker Run” that Blair organized. By himself I might add. That year he Donated $810.00 to HALO. This was great, but Blair realized the potential for an even better result would mean he couldn’t do it by himself. He was more determined than ever, so with help from his family and friends “Riders for HALO” grew and the 2nd Annual run made a donation of $6,610,00. Through dedication and a lot of hard work the 3rd Annual run more than doubled from the 2nd year with a donation of $16,024.00. The 4th annual run will be happening July 22, 2017 with Blair having a goal of at least $20,000.00. Everyone is welcome to attend the event. The Fuel Booster Poker Run is now well on it’s way. With 15 committee members, Blair is making his vision a reality. The Route of the Run changes every Year. Blair wanted something different so they revolve the Run around the “HALO Golden Hour” flying perimeter. The “Rider’s for HALO” work diligently all year to get donations from Medicine Hat and surrounding area businesses for a live/silent auction. They sell poker hands, patches, and do a 50/50 with 100% of the proceeds going to
HALO. I myself have been in 2 motorcycle accidents where HALO attended the scene both times, so this cause is very near and dear to me. We all have had either a family member or loved one need help, regardless of whether they were a rider or not. The “Riders for HALO” are “Riding for LIFE”. Well that has Momma all caught up with events that have happened up till now. As you can see we here in Southeastern Alberta love to hit the Highway with our Brothers and Sisters to try and make a difference in our community by giving back when we can. We have many more opportunities this summer to have a little fun and spread the love. Until next month Stay Safe. Momma Mandy

All eyes were on the radiant bride as her father escorted her down the aisle. They reached the altar and the waiting groom, the bride kissed her father and placed something in his hand. The guests in the front pews responded with ripples of laughter. Even the priest smiled broadly. As her father gave her away in marriage, the bride gave him back his credit card.
telling you, I’m certain she’s poisoning me, what should I do?”The Rabbi then offers, “Tell you what. Let me talk to her, I’ll see what I can find out and I’ll let you know.”A week later the Rabbi calls the man and says, “I spoke to her on the phone for three hours. You want my advice? The man said, “Yes” and the Rabbi replied, “Take the poison.”
Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea.
There was a bit of confusion at the store this morning. When I was ready to pay for my groceries, the cashier said, “Strip down, facing me.”Making a mental note to complain to my congressman about Homeland Security running amok, I did just as she had instructed. When the hysterical shrieking and alarms finally subsided, I found out that she was referring to my credit card. I have been asked to shop elsewhere in the future. They need to make their instructions to us seniors a lile clearer.
Three friends from the local congregation were asked, “When you’re in your casket, and friends and congregation members are mourning over you, what would you like them to say?”Artie said, “I would like them to say I was a wonderful husband, a fine spiritual leader, and a great family man.” Eugene commented, “I would like them to say I was a wonderful teacher and servant of God who made a huge difference in people’s lives..” Al said, “I’d like them to say, ‘Look, he’s moving!’” A man goes to a shrink and says, “Doctor, my wife is unfaithful to me. Every evening, she goes to Larry’s bar and picks up men. In fact, she sleeps with anybody who asks her! I’m going crazy. What do you think I should do?””Relax,” says the Doctor, “take a deep breath and calm down. Now, tell me, exactly where is Larry’s bar?” John was on his deathbed and gasped pitifully, “Give me one last request, dear,” he said.”Of course, John,” his wife said soly.”Six months aer I die,” he said, “I want you to marry Bob.””But I thought you hated Bob,” she said..With his last breath John said, “I do!” A man goes to see the Rabbi. ‘”Rabbi, something terrible is happening and I have to talk to you about it.”The Rabbi asked, “What’s wrong?”The man replied, “My wife is poisoning me.The Rabbi, very surprised by this, asks, “How can that be?”The man then pleads, “I’m
Three dead bodies turn up at the Dublin mortuary all with very big smiles on their faces. The coroner calls the police to tell them what has happened. ‘First body: Pierre Dubois, Frenchman, 60, died of heart failure while making love to his 20-year old mistress. Hence the enormous smile, Inspector’, says the Coroner. ‘Second body: Hamish Campbell, Scotsman, 25, won £50,000 on the loery. Spent it all on whisky. Died of alcohol poisoning, hence the smile.’ The Inspector asked, ‘What about the third body?’ ‘Ah,’ says the coroner, ‘this is the most unusual one. Paddy Murphy, Irish, 30, struck by lightning.’ ‘Why is he smiling then?’ inquires the Inspector. ‘He thought he was having his picture taken’. I’ve learned that pleasing everyone is impossible, but pissing everyone off is a piece of cake. Proof that you can never underestimate the innovativeness of Canadian Farm Boys: At a high school in Saskatchewan, a group of boy students played a prank. They let three goats loose inside the school. But before turning them loose, they painted numbers on the sides of the goats: 1, 2 and 4. School Administrators spent most of the day looking for No. 3. Now that’s funny, I don’t care who you are..... And you thought there was nothing to do in Saskatchewan Toward the end of the Sunday service, the Minister asked, “How many of you have forgiven your enemies? “80% held up their hands. The Minister then repeated his question. All responded this time,
