sheltering the children from unnecessary soul tarnishing and irreparable damage. Ok, so I’m exaggerating a bit but the point is we tend to over react to situations that should be handled in a much calmer fashion to prevent unavoidable circumstances from culminating in cardiac arrest! I won’t get into the week long lecture, courtesy of my better half that ensued but rather focus on the outcome. It was simple – learn to smile often and harness the power of this incredibly healing human gesture. A smile can and will make all the difference in the world. One smile has the power to relieve stress, calm you down, and make you attractive, not to mention, the joy it brings to those around you. Stress is hazardous to your health and failure to minimize its destructive nature will shorten the time you will have to enjoy the things in life that matter. Being positive is one of the best things you can teach by example so remember this every morning while getting dressed to face another day in an often hostile world – “a smile is the most attractive thing anyone can ever wear.” Remember to smile; it doesn’t hurt!

uite a while ago I wrote a little blurb about my personal quest for impeccability and today, I can safely say that I have failed miserably at reaching this goal of perfection. And I did try but the problem was, for the most part, being cursed with the attention span of a grasshopper and thus unable to focus on the target for more than a few minutes at a time – sound familiar to anyone out there?

Wacky World Couple Adopts A Stray Cat And Finds He’s Not Like The Other Cats

When Sara Nozaki and Grant Olson adopted their stray cat Wilbur, they had no idea that they actually got a tiny person trapped in a cat’s body. The couple soon discovered that Wilbur sits just like a human! “Grant was casually browsing the New York City subreddit, where he found a post with
Wilbur’s picture saying, ‘does this cat belong to anyone?’,” Nozaki told LoveMeow. “Grant half jokingly commented, ‘hey, if you can’t find his owner, I might be willing to take him’.” Two days later he did. “His torso is either too long or his legs are too short, so he always sits in odd positions.”

Study shows Zika might cause
Guillain-Barré Syndrome
Researchers say evidence links Zika virus to spike in cases of severe neurological disorder characterised by paralysis. A new study has given first evidence that the Zika virus may be the cause for a spike in cases of a severe neurological disorder called the Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS). The study , published by the medical journal Lancet, showed 42 patients developed symptoms of GBS, which causes the immune system to attack parts of the nervous system. The neurological symptoms include acute motor axonal neuropathy, which is characterised by severe paralysis. It also caused respiratory problems in about one-third of the patients who needed medical assistance to breathe properly, the report said. However, none of the patient-subjects died. "This is the first study providing evidence for Zika virus infection causing Guillain-Barré syndrome. Because Zika virus is spreading rapidly across the Americas, at risk countries need to prepare for adequate intensive care beds capacity to manage patients with Guillain-Barré syndrome," the study said. The World Health Organization (WHO) described Zika, which is spread by mosquitoes, as a public health emergency of global concern in February. Source: Al Jazeera

ENVIRONMENT
WINDS OF CHANGE
by: James Mitchell Aitken
The US cops a lot of flack for the sorry state of the world’s climate, but the Chinese ain’t far behind in terms of responsibility. One of them is embracing a cleaner future, and it may not be the one you think.
B
efore coming to the UAE I did four years teaching in the Taiwanese incarnation of the Gulag, afterschool torture-chambers known as Anchinbans. In these sorry excuses for educational institutions, rows of little kids churn out reams of homework like prisoners breaking rocks and suffer, like inmates, a debilitating drain upon their spirits. It was quit or suicide, so I chose to move on. The kids don’t have that option, and the statistics reflect that. If the learning environment was toxic, the living environment wasn’t much better. Often, I commented on the beauty of the tobacco sunsets, the nightly fire-orange and pink extravaganzas which played a decisive part in a number of successful romantic encounters. ‘It’s the smog,’ I was told. That made sense. On the way in from the airport I’d noticed the wilting freewayside vegetation, which I’d put down to the abominable heat. But two years later I realised that ever since I’d been suffering a sore throat. Once, I turned side-on in the mirror to find my shoulders hunched and wondered if, perhaps, I was wilting too . . ..

Taiwanese people die from air poisoning. Taipei has the highest population density of any city but Dakha, and the industrial miracle of the last fifty years hasn’t happened simply by churning out dumplings and bubble tea in the Great Mall of Dubai. No, heavy industry and the people live cheekto-jowl, lips-to-smokestack. Leave a bowl of cereal out long enough and poisonous particles will settle on it like sugar crystals. But the poisons ain’t all native. Each year, in a certain season, winds pick up Mongolian dust and distribute it across China. As the winds push south and east, they gather industrial sputum billowing up from the flammable-clothing and plastictoy factories below and dump it up the Taiwanese nose. The Taiwanese can’t take it anymore and, not surprisingly, neither can the Chinese. Beijing experienced its first ever red alert for air quality last December. A red alert doesn’t just mean the air is hazardous. It’s far worse than that. Nor does the issuance of the first red alert mean the air had been that bad for the first time. Rather, it was merely the first time the government had
been prepared to admit it. Implicit with the red alert was the recognition that the time had come to do something. They’re already at it. The Chinese lead the world in installation of wind energy, adding 29 GW of wind capacity in 2015 after installing 21 GW the year before. The figure accounts for forty-six percent of all wind power installed globally. The next best country is the US, which installed 8.6 GW—a long way behind and, sadly, receding. Thanks to the Supreme Court, the twenty-seven states opposed to the Clean Power Plan are celebrating their freedom to poison their air as successfully as Beijing has its, just as that economic rival is heading full tilt in the opposite direction. Of course, for the Chinese it ain’t necessarily about doing right. It used to be said that wherever you find an opportunity to make money, you’ll find an American. But nowadays that Yank will be queuing up behind a couple of Chinese. It’s about moolah. Lots of it. Enormous, hierarchy-altering piles of it. The winds of change are blowing in more directions than one.
LASHING OUT IN STYLE AT THE
EYELASH EXTENSION CENTER I like to think of myself as a natural appeal type of woman when it comes to beauty, so when I was asked to review the Eyelash Extension Center at Bawadi Mall, I was somewhat hesitant. I suppose my first thoughts were that I would inevitably be turned into a life support system for gargantuan lashes functioning as wipers for the inside lens faces of my sun glasses. This was certainly not the case and to be honest, the experience was so completely satisfying that It will be difficult to go back to the sparse, wispy curtain fringes that once adorned the windows of my world.
H
aving said this, let’s get right to the experience. You’ve no doubt heard the expression “jack of all trades and master at nothing”. I am by no means condemning other very capable salons but I would like to highlight a very interesting philosophy adopted by The Eye Lash Extension Center that virtually separates this facility from the rest – they do eyelashes and nothing else and are proud to be passionate about the one and only service they perform at a master level. Whether you’re looking for beautiful lashes for a special occasion, or as a regular beauty routine for life, the highly skilled professionals at the center will customize a perfect and unique look for each individual client. Perfect lashes are always achieved and with routine touchups, every 2 to 3 weeks, amazing eyelashes can be maintained indefinitely! the treatment and process. Thessa, after a thorough consultation, worked on my lashes and having discovered my hesitation to venture into an extreme transformation, suggested natural length lashes with a much fuller appeal. Lying on a comfy bed with pillow supported knees was already relaxing enough but the ladies took things a few notches higher by spoiling me with an idyllic arm and foot massage that had me slipping in and out of peaceful catnaps during the approximate 1.5 hour procedure. Before my departure, I was instructed to avoid touching, rubbing or wetting the lashes for the first couple of days to allow the adhesive to dry properly. As is the case with natural lashes, the odd lash fall was to be expected and maintenance could be achieved via a gentle brushing with an eye wand both mornings and evenings. The Eyelash extension Center, uses only the finest quality products guaranteeing to provide clients, not only, with longer, thicker and more luscious looking extensions but, more importantly, with healthier and stronger natural eyelashes. With a membership system that allows admission to any of their 4 conveniently located branches, you are guaranteed easy and quick access to specialized stylists, in order to maintain the health of your natural lashes and the beauty of your extensions. SOME 80,000 REFUGEES ARRIVE IN
EUROPE IN FIRST SIX WEEKS OF 2016 Despite rough seas and harsh winter weather, more than 80,000 refugees and migrants arrived in Europe by boat during the first six weeks of 2016, more than in the first four months of 2015. In addition more than 400 people had lost their lives trying to cross the Mediterranean. However, despite the dangers over 2,000 people a day continue to risk their lives and the lives of their children attempting to reach Europe. Comparable figures for 2015 show such numbers only began arriving in July. "The majority of those arriving in January 2016, nearly 58 per cent, were women and children; one in three people arriving to Greece were children as compared to just 1 in 10 in September 2015," UNHCR's Chief spokesperson Melissa Fleming told a press briefing in Geneva. Fleming added that over 91 per cent of those arriving in Greece come from the world's top ten refugee producing countries, including Syria, Afghanistan and Iraq. "Winter weather and rough seas have not deterred those desperate enough to make the journey, resulting in near daily shipwrecks," she added. When surveyed upon arrival, most of them cite they had to leave their homeland due to conflict. More than 56 per cent of January arrivals to Greece were from Syria. However, UNHCR stressed that solutions to Europe's situation were not only eminently possible, but had already been agreed by States and now 18

urgently needed to be implemented. Stabilization is essential and something for which there is also strong public demand. "Within the context of the necessary reduction of dangerous sea arrivals, safe access to seek asylum, including through resettlement and humanitarian admission, is a fundamental human right that must be protected and respected," Fleming added. She said that regular pathways to Europe and elsewhere were important for allowing refugees to reach safety without putting their lives in the hands of smugglers and making dangerous sea crossings. "Avenues, such as enhanced resettlement and humanitarian admission, family reunification, private sponsorship, and humanitarian and refugee student/work visas, should be established to ensure that movements are manageable, controlled and coordinated for countries receiving these refugees," Fleming added. Vincent Cochetel, UNHCR's Director Bureau for Europe, added that faced with this situation, UNHCR hoped that EU Member States would implement at a faster pace all EU-wide measures agreed upon in 2015, including the implementation of hotspots and the relocation process for 160,000 people already in Greece and Italy and the EU-Turkey Joint-Action Plan. "If Europe wants to avoid the mess of 2015, it must take action. There is no plan B," he also told

MAKING A DIFFERENCE
the briefing. UNHCR also called for more to be done to reinforce reception capacities at the points of entry to Europe, to allow for the humane and effective accommodation, assistance, registration and security screening of people arriving every day. This is needed to identify those requiring protection, those who should be relocated to other countries within the EU, and those who do not qualify for refugee protection and for whom effective and dignified return mechanisms have to be put in place. Regrettably, the first six weeks of 2016 have also seen multiple developments in Europe suggesting that some countries are prioritizing keeping refugees and migrants out over finding realistic solutions. Since the start of 2016 border control measures have been tightened in many European States. Despite repeated calls by UNHCR to expand legal pathways to allow refugees and asylum seekers to access asylum, many European Member States are in fact reducing the legal avenues available. On the legal front, restrictive measures on family reunification were imposed in January in Denmark, with refugees now only able to apply for their family to join them after three years, instead of one. "Other countries are contemplating similar or even more restrictive legislation at a time when European countries need to improve the legal and secure ways to access family reunion and thus combat smuggling," Fleming added. Recent successive announcements of national measures aimed at trying to appear more unattractive than the neighbouring country only underlines the dire need for an effective comprehensive European response, the problems cannot simply be shifted from one country to another. A race to the bottom helps no-one. UNHCR recognizes the challenges some European countries are facing due to significant arrivals of asylum seekers, refugees and migrants. Clearly States have a sovereign right to manage their borders; however, this must be done in accordance with national, EU and international law. The possible damaging impact of individual measures and practices on the rights and lives of refugees has to be considered. Increasing acts of violence and prejudice have jeopardized the safety and well-being of refugees and asylum seekers across Europe. Fuelled by xenophobia and propaganda campaigns based on fear, refugee families, homes and places of worship are being targeted with hate crimes varying from physical attacks, vandalism, arson, and even more sinister incidents such as one where a mosque had blood thrown on its walls and a pig's head left at its door. Some countries may instate policies to seize money and valuables from some asylum seekers with the purported aim of reducing costs of social assistance. Such measures carry enormous costs of their own, and have the effect of pandering to fear and discrimination. Quick and thorough support mechanisms will be crucial for integrating people in countries receiving the highest number of refugees, including Germany and Sweden, to help dispel the fear and xenophobia and reinstate the common European principles of dignity, solidarity and human rights that the European Union was founded upon.

CAMBRIDGE MEDICAL AND REHABILITATION CENTER WHERE COMPASSION & HOPE RESIDE
The miracle of life is without a doubt the greatest gift bestowed on humans and when this precious and often fragile possession is threatened due to illness or tragic accidents, hope is the one ingredient vital to our survival and the emotional stability of our loved ones.
L
ast week I visited The Cambridge Medical and Rehabilitation Center (CMRC) to meet with Dr. Mohammed Saad, a gentle, reassuring professional and above all, source of hope. Dr. Saad, the Medical Director, Ventilation & Weaning Unit Consultant Anesthesia and Intensive care, is an authority on a unique medical service introduced recently in the UAE and eager to create the necessary awareness for a methodology that is life changing for residents of Cambridge and their families. The Transitional Vent Weaning (TVU) Program is an innovative, new clinical program, the first of its kind in the UAE, developed specifically to provide real hope to patients who are dependent on mechanical ventilation as a result of an injury or critical illness. Hospital intensive care units are designed to provide care for acutely ill patients. However, after they have become stable following the necessary clinical interventions, they do best within environments and care centers specifically designed for longer term care. The goal at Cambridge Medical and Rehabilitation Center is to reunite
22
The Source
residents with their families back in their homes and communities, once again enjoying a meaningful quality of life. Cambridge provides hope to its residents who otherwise languish, day after day, in intensive care beds lacking the consistent, daily rehabilitation needed to become, over time, independent of the mechanical ventilator. Cambridge provides a clinical program admitting residents into their Transitional Vent Weaning Unit (TVU) who are deemed medically stable but require protracted and customized medical care specifically designed to slowly wean patients off mechanical ventilation. An individualized, bespoke, weaning protocol is designed by Consultant Intensivists who work in collaboration with physiatrists (Physician Medicine and Rehabilitation physicians) and a multidisciplinary team to develop appropriate therapies (Physical Therapy/ Occupational Therapy / Speech and Language Pathologist / Respiratory Therapy) necessary to facilitate improved strength, conditioning and alertness for the residents. Cambridge provides 24/7 expert, in-house physician coverage combined with skilled and experienced ICU
nurses and Respiratory Therapists working together to design and implement the individualized care plans with the expressed goal of permanently eliminating the need for mechanical ventilation. In addition, we have on staff consultant neonatologists and pediatricians who help care for pediatric residents. Ideal Candidates for Transitional Vent Weaning Unit: With an estimated 90% of acute trauma victims potentially benefiting from TVU at some stage, Cambridge focuses on patients with a reasonable probability of being successfully weaned from mechanical ventilation in approximately 12 months with a goal of returning them to healthy and productive lives within their communities. The Value Proposition Cambridge provides an immediate and critically needed “relief valve for intensive care beds throughout the region by admitting otherwise clinically stable patients dependent on mechanical ventilation. In fact, more than 50% of their patients are discharged to home in less than 150 days! Residents and families are at the center of clinical care and included in the
multidisciplinary team meetings, whereby clinical experts provide real time updates related to the progress of the resident. Similarly, the input of residents and families is valued and incorporated into desired and expected clinical outcomes of individualized weaning protocols. Facility and Amenities As the most trusted facilities in the area, Cambridge Medical and Rehabilitation Center is beautifully appointed and replete with all the comforts of home yet fully equipped with the latest in state-of-the-art healthcare technologies. The staff at the cozy facilities takes pride in caring for its residents and providing them with a warm, friendly environment. The focus is on restoring residents to their maximum level of functioning so they can return home and enjoy independent living. Some of the amenities our residents enjoy include: Wi-Fi, Flat panel TVs, Cable and phone service, full service dining accommodating to therapeutic diets and individual preferences, varied recreational and social programs, lovely outdoor grounds and patio as well as holiday events. Visiting hospitals teeming with pain and the unfortunate is not necessarily one of my favourite past times but after an inspiring visit with Dr. Mohammed Saad and a tour of a residence that has all the makings of a home, I felt an overwhelming sense of calm knowing that a team of outstanding experts in their respective fields is on hand 24/7 to deliver hope to situations that might otherwise seem hopeless and above all, make a difference in the lives of the people who depend on their skill. Hope and Compassion truly reside at Cambridge Medical and Rehabilitation Center. 23

EVERY CHILD IS A “MIRACLE” AT LITTLE REGENT NURSERY With so many nurseries competing in Al Ain, it is refreshing to welcome a stunning new facility that takes your child’s early years education very seriously and boasts an ethos that aims to raise the bar in the community.
C
onveniently located in Asharej, a stone’s throw away from the American School is Little Regent Nursery, a MOSA approved facility that in a few short months, has managed to capture the attention and trust of a growing number of parents in the city. We caught up with Merlyn Titten, the Director, to find out more about their commended facility. Little Regent, a sister concern of Edgewater Middle East and leading Educational group, follows the highly acclaimed Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum (EYFS) based upon the belief that every child is an individual deserving the best possible start in life. As a mother of two children, Merlyn is quick to share that the love, attention and care extended to each and every one of the school’s children, matches the expectations she would have for her own kids; “nothing short of this will do!” She continues with one of her favourite quotes from Bill Gates that perfectly describes the establishment’s philosophy; “The first 5 years have so much to do with how the next 80 will turn out.” Little Regent Nursery celebrates unity in diversity with 12 nationalities and happily invites children from 6 months to 4 years of

age into their loving family, nurturing each member with the essentials necessary to kickstart the next 80 years in the best way possible. Among other things, these essentials include the 7 EYFS defined areas of learning, comprised of 3 prime areas: 1. Communication & Language 2. Physical Development 3. Personal, Social & Emotional Development And 4 Specific Areas: 1. Literacy 2. Mathematics 3. Understanding the World 4. Expressive Arts & Design Merlyn attributes a great deal of the nursery’s success to their biggest strength; a carefully selected staff of multinational English speakers that bring not only expertise but a great deal of love to the table. “We empower and motivate our staff knowing that a happy staff = happy kids!” Each child is provided with a ‘key worker’ whose primary function is to establish an environment of ‘trust’. Without first having established this, it is impossible to move forward with a child’s healthy
development.” At Little Regent Nursery, children are given age specific nurturing with a huge focus on active and creative play. In today’s high tech gadget inspired world, where many hours at home are spent glued to electronic devices, the importance of a “switched off electronically and switched on reality” world cannot be stressed enough! Parents are always in the know when it comes to their kid’s activities and progress via age group specific daily diaries. Little Regent Nursery is a super clean CCTV equipped facility that boasts an outstanding daily program of events and apart from the curriculum, co- curricular activities such as ballet, gymnastics and even field trips are added to complement their rich learning experience. And for added peace of mind, there is a loving and highly qualified nurse always on duty in a HAAD registered clinic as well as a doctor on call. Before concluding my visit, Merlyn reminds me that every child is a “miracle” and it is this wisdom that fuels the everyday success story of Little Regent Nursery! STUFF FOR MEN
EVERYONE LOVES AN
UNDERDOG! by: Philip Miller
As an avid football fan, I have been following the exploits of Leicester City in the English Premier League this year with great interest. Every Sunday, I have been confidently predicting their demise when discussing the point with some friends from Brighton College at our regular football fix meetings. The sceptical side of my psyche cannot comprehend how a team who was bottom of the league at this point last year has overtaken the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City, all of whom have finances that should make them untouchable. Following Leicester’s dismantlement of Manchester City last weekend, I’m beginning to wonder if you can really believe in fairytale endings after all. But if this dream were to come true for Leicester City, where would it rank in the all-time greatest sporting upsets? Here are a handful of other notable, yet unlikely, triumphs:
1
Wildcard Ivanisevic takes Wimbledon Goran Ivanisevic lost three grandslam finals in the 90s and it appeared his chance was gone. Ivanisevic wasn’t even ranked highly enough to qualify automatically for Wimbledon in 2001 but went on to become the first wildcard entry to ever win the illustrious competition.
2
Botham's Ashes Many, if not most, spectators seats were left abandoned on day 4 as England were 6/1 during their follow-on in the 1981 Ashes series.
26
The Source
Fortunately for England, Sir Ian Botham arrived at the crease and crushed 149 runs from only 219 balls. This, combined with some mesmerising bowling from Bob Willis, (8/43) meant England won the game by just 18 runs and eventually won the series 3-1.
3
Denmark win Euro 92 Denmark didn't even qualify for Euro 92, the European football championship. The players were with their families on their planned summer holidays when the manager called 10 days before the competition. Yugoslavia had withdrawn due to political unrest at home and Denmark had been invited to attend instead. Denmark, with no time to prepare, nowhere to train and not even any hotels booked to stay in, arrived at the competition as the ultimate underdogs. Incredibly, they went on to win the tournament by beating the mighty Germany in the final 1-0.
So, if Leicester are to hold on, then where would this rank in terms of all-time unlikely triumphs? What makes this scenario unique, in my opinion, is that it is not just a one-off match or short competition; it is the fact that they would have competed over the course of 9 months and 38 gruelling matches. The only comparative in the modern era would be Blackburn Rovers’ Premier League title in 1995, but this was before financial clout became so influential in the Premier League. Whatever happens, I would like to thank Leicester City for allowing me to believe that dreams can, and still do, come true. In the words of their enigmatic manager, Claudio Ranieri, this week “we want to dream - nobody wake us up, please.” Phil Miller is Director of Sport at Brighton College Al Ain. Originally from Lancashire in the UK, he studied Sports Science at Loughborough University and played football semi-professionally before moving into teaching. Phil is married to Nia, who also teaches at Brighton College Al Ain.

exceptional sportsman spirit, remarkable for such a young demographic. ‘7th Heaven’ Cast Reunites for Jessica Biel's Restaurant Opening
Jennifer Garner
Fans of ‘90s TV rejoice! The cast of 7th Heaven reunited on Friday for actress Jessica Biel’s restaurant opening. Beverley Mitchell, who starred as Lucy Camden in the show, took to Instagram later on to share a pic of the moment. “So much fun supporting our girl @JessicaBiel on the launch of her amazing new restaurant @aufudge!,” Mitchell, 35, captioned the group photo. “Love these people like family! #nothinglikefamily #7thheavenforever #aufudge #familyfriendly.” Also present in the photo are TV siblings Barry Watson (Matt Camden), Mackenzie Rosman (Ruthie Camden), and TV mom
Catherine Hicks (Annie Camden), along with Biel, who played Mary Camden in the series – her first major acting gig – that ran from 1996 to 2007. Mitchell and Biel, 33, had a smaller reunion in August of last year when they both attended Biel’s brother travel accessories launch. Around the same time, Mitchell shared a throwback photo of the show, celebrating its 19th anniversary. “19 years ago #7thHeaven premiered and my life changed forever in the most amazing way,” she captioned the photo. “Thank you to all those who love and supported us through the years.”
Breaks Silence On Split From Ben Affleck
If you care about the ongoings of Hollywood and celebrities at all, then you probably shed a tear or felt a little heartache over the news that Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck split after 10 years of marriage. The couple was plagued by breakup rumors for months before they actually announced their separation in June of last year, and were hit with even more gossip as rumors of Affleck's reported dalliance with their children's nanny began to swirl. Now, Garner is breaking her silence on their split for the first time in an unflinchingly personal interview with Vanity Fair, and there are a few things she wants to make clear.

Kesha’s Face Is
The 43-year-old actor attended the Independent Spirit Awards on Saturday night after the news broke. He was one of the last people to arrive and walked the red carpet alone without giving any interviews. Elba went on to win in the Best Supporting Actor category at the awards for his role in Beasts of No Nation. NEWS: Kate McKinnon and Kumail Nanjiani Host 2016 Film Independent Spirit Awards 30

as Idris Elba Steals the Show At the Screen Actors Guild Awards in January, Elba took his 15-year-old daughter, Isan, along as his date. Isan is the actor’s daughter with ex-wife, Dormowa Sherman. Elba and Garth started dating in 2013, and in 2014 the couple welcomed a son together, Winston Elba.
‘Swollen From Tears’ as Singer Thanks Fans for Support Kesha has been crying so much that her face is puffy … but in a good way. The “Tik Tok” singer took to Instagram on Tuesday to thank fans for their support as she slogs through a lawsuit against her producer Dr. Luke. She went on to say that she is “beyond words in gratitude” for the support she’s received, adding that the encouragement “has left my face swollen from tears.”
TECH TALK
Android Apps for 2016
Comics Free Are you tired of schlepping all the way to the comic book store? Heck, is there even a comic book store in your town anymore? Comics, the excellent app from digital comics groundbreakers Comixology, is both storefront and long box. You can browse the seemingly endless lists of titles, and then buy new books with a tap. It's wonderfully easy! Depending on the state of your wallet, it may even be a bit too easy.
Siri Coming to the Mac Later This Year
Siri is on the iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, and Apple TV, and now it may finally be headed to the Mac. 9to5Mac reports that Apple is adding Siri into the next version of OS X, which should arrive later this year. Apple reportedly plans to add a Siri button in the Mac’s menu bar, beside the clock and Spotlight icon, which you’ll be able to press to activate it. It may also have an alwayslistening feature, as the iPhone does, when connected to power. When you activate Siri, its responses will reportedly be displayed on a corner of the desktop in a semi-transparent black window, which should look a lot like Siri’s interface on mobile. You can see a mockup at 9to5Mac. If Siri is to arrive in the next version of OS
X, we should get a first look at it in June, during Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference. A public beta may then launch over the summer, with a full launch coming sometime around October, assuming Apple follows its typical release patterns 9to5Mac reports that some details of Siri on OS X could still change, but it says that Apple has been working on the feature’s presentation since as early as 2012 — the year after Siri launched on the iPhone 4S. Though its arrival on the desktop may feel like a long time coming, it wasn’t until last year that Apple began bringing Siri to platforms outside of iOS.
Voice Control for the Apple TV Is About to Get Much More Useful
PicsArt Photo Studio Free When you think of mobile image editing, you probably think of a certain Facebookowned property modeled after old timey cameras. I'm talking about Instagram, in case you couldn't tell. But where Instagram ends, PicsArt Photo Studio begins, bringing not just filters but many more powerful tools. And if you're already a fan of Insta, you can share your PicsArt creations there to the envy of all your followers.
The fourth-generation Apple TV is generally great, but it does have a few issues, one of which is entering text with the included remote. Apple quickly added the ability to use the Apple Remote app to make entering text easier, but with Siri built in, it always seemed like the voice control should be more robust. Soon, users will be able to do a whole lot more with only their voices, thanks to the
inclusion of voice dictation. The feature was introduced in the latest beta version of tvOS, Macrumors reports. Dictation isn’t just useful for searching, but can also be used for entering user names and passwords, which should bring a sigh of relief to anyone who has struggled to enter a long password using the remote. MY WORLD
ZAMBIA
by: Enestle Zimba
WHAT AN AMAZING COUNTRY! When you travel abroad, especially far away from home you want to have peace of mind. The same applies if you're on an African safari. If your desire is to meet friendly, warm people then travel to Africa's peace haven, Zambia. In Zambia you'll find that which you most desire, the warm African welcome.
34
The Source
Peace, stability and friendliness describe Zambia. It is a country incredibly endowed with natural resources and the heritage of a natural safari country. Just imagine these amazing sites:
1 2
The Victoria Falls, one of the world's most spectacular waterfalls, is considered the world's largest curtain of falling water. It measures 1701 metres wide and plunges down to 111 metres. The torrent of water plunging over a steep cliff creates a deafening roar and sends up billows of spray that can be seen 30km (19 mi) away. Thus the local people have called it Mosioa-Tunya, meaning "the smoke that thunders." The wild untamed Zambezi River. From its source at Kalene Hills to its mouth at the Indian Ocean the Zambezi measures a whopping 3,540 kilometres. And 2,572km is in Zambia.
The Zambezi River passes through changing sceneries. The wild exciting Barote Flood Plain, the site of the colourful Kuomboka ceremony by the Lozi people; the violent torrent at the Victoria Falls and the 122m deep Batoka Gorge cut by the river and the serene Lake Kariba behind the hydroelectric dam. And this lake has a great history. Finally the wide Lower Zambezi surrounded by wild game.
3 4 5
Add to your travel itinerary the Nchanga Open Pit, one of the largest open cast mines in the world and the largest in Africa. Operations started in 1957 and today it measures 4,700m long, 2,400m wide and bottoms up at 335m. Zambia's major economic activity still remains copper mining. Visit the 19 national parks and 34 game management areas. All these constitute 30 percent of the 752614sq km of Zambia. The management areas buffer the game parks and the parks are strategically located throughout the country.
The unbelievable yet fascinating wildlife in pristine wilderness. The Zambian national parks are considered to have the largest concentration of game in the world. The variety of animal species is wide with over 202 mammals that include the Big Five: lion, giraffe, leopard, rhino and elephant. Annually there is a wildebeest migration in the Liuwa Park. Take a look and see the endemic red and black lechwe antelopes in the Kafue Flats at Lochinvar, as well as the Busanga and Bangweulu Plains. Birding is popular in all game parks but Lochinvar is Zambia's prime birds sanctuary. Meet the crested cranes, saddle-bill storks, egrets, wood ibis, vultures and the rare shoebill stork.
6
Travel to Livingstone town near the majestic, awe-inspiring Victoria Falls now accepted as the southern African Adventure Centre. Here you can choose any adventure of your choice:White water river-rafting, bungi jumping, river boarding, skiing, fishing, abseiling, 4x4 off high way driving, elephant back safari, river safari, micro-light and helicopter flights over the Victoria Falls. Livingstone is a town of three museums; one is Zambia's prime museum, another is a railway museum and then there is the Victoria Falls field museum. Take a detour and visit a tribal village. Choose your accommodation from the many theme-designed hotels and lodges on the banks of the Zambezi.
7
The Zambian weather is mild and pleasant despite the country being in the tropics. The high altitude at between 1200m and 1500m above sea level ensures that. There are three distinct seasons; the cool and dry season between April and August, the dry and warm between September and November and the warmer and wet season between December and March. However, the most popular time to visit is during the cool and dry winter season between April and August. These are warm crisp days and cool nights! Zambia is beckoning you! The pristine wilderness, the African sunsets , the changing landscapes and natural habitat and the warm Zambian welcome of its friendly people. All these make your travel to Zambia a pleasant destination in African travel. It's a safari visit you'll treasure forever.
...And you'll never forget to exclaim" what, indeed, an amazing country!" The Source
