Ever had one of those really busy days at work when all you want to do during your lunch hour is curl up and go to sleep? Well, if you happen to be in Dubai then you just might be in luck thanks to a recently installed temporary Nap Bar. That’s right! A bar that you can nap inofficially. The idea is the brainchild of Smarin, a Francebased furniture studio. They’re well known for their nap spaces and this time they’ve come up with a totally dream idea. The Nap Bar is

equipped with everything you’d expect to find in a place dedicated entirely to snoozing. Soft dune-shaped lounge-chairs, special nap pillows, access to herbal tea and essential oils and even the sound of lullabies to ease you into slumber. It’s the perfect place to unwind during an otherwise hectic day. But if you want to experience it for yourself then you better hurry, because the installation ends on March 31st. You snooze, you lose.

Naked Guinea Pig Poses With His Favorite Food

"A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way." John C. Maxwell

If guinea pigs dream, and they probably do (what else is there to do in a cage all day?), then chances are that they dream of what's happening in these photographs. But for Ludwik, it isn't a dream. No. Ludwik doesn't need dreams, because his life is awesome enough already. His name may share a similarity with Beethoven's, but Ludwik isn't interested

in music. This guinea pig's real passion is for food! And modelling. But especially modelling with food. And as you can see from these pictures, he's quite the natural in front of the camera. We can only hope that he gets to eat all the food he models with. Although, being a naked model, he probably needs to watch his figure...

Fuel prices in UAE increase for April Special 95 goes from Dh1.36 per litre in March to Dh1.51, diesel to be sold at Dh1.56 per litre Abu Dhabi: The Ministry of Energy announced new fuel prices for the month of April. Motorists will have to pay more at the petrol stations when compared to March as fuel prices have been increased.

Hi, this is Leah and she's 4 weeks old and will soon be up for adoption. Her foster mum says she's incredibly playful and loves her hugs and cuddles. She is great with other cats and loves attention. If you are interested in adopting this adorable, stunning girl please email me at sahar_afifi@yahoo.com

The new fuel prices per litre are Super 98 Dh1.62 up from Dh1.47 in March, Special 95 Dh1.51 up from Dh1.36, E Plus-91-Dh1.44, increased from Dh1.29. Diesel will be sold at Dh1.56 per litre, up from Dh1.40 per liter in March. The fuel prices, which are linked to global oil prices, have been recovering for the past two months as oil producing countries gear up for the crucial Doha meeting on April 17, which is aimed at reaching an agreement between Opec (Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries) and non-Opec members to freeze production at January levels. The United Arab Emirates and a number of other oil exporting countries have confirmed their participation at the meeting.

The meeting was necessitated due to record drop in oil prices from more than $110 per barrel in June 2014 to less than $30 per barrel in January this year. Oil prices have recovered since then. The global benchmark, brent was trading at slightly more than $40 per barrel on Monday. Source: Al Jazeera

WASTE COOKING OIL TO BIOFUEL A SUCCESS STORY ON ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION Novel project by Global English School ECO CLUB

Little did teachers Lorijane and Jasiya of Global English School know that their idea of collecting waste cooking oil from the homes of students for conversion to useful biofuel, would be such a hit. The project led by the GES Eco Club, in conjunction with the SSI (Sustainable School Initiative) of Abu Dhabi Environmental Agency, had twin objectives: to prevent the clogging of drains due to disposal of waste cooking oil and to help recycle and convert this waste cooking oil to biofuel. The GES Eco club liaised with a Dubai based company, Neutral Fuels, focusing on creating biodiesel from waste cooking oil after convincing the local Municipal administration to provide receptacles for an eco-friendly project best implemented through the student community. The members of the Eco club campaigned in the school and conducted surveys for this cause. Parents were also taken into confidence and On 22nd February, the first receptacle was placed in the school campus and parents were asked to send waste cooking oil from their homes. The result was amazing!! More than 150 liters of waste cooking oil were collected within a week, which would have otherwise gone into the drains. The first batch has been sent to Dubai for

conversion to biofuel. The Municipal authorities have since supplied a dozen receptacles, thanks to the continued effort of the members of the Eco Club. The club members are extending their campaign to the community by visiting houses and educating the residents. Students were also made aware of the persistent environmental issues including pollution and various methods to resolve them, like efficient waste management.

Needless to say, this project was a grand success, and definitely an achievement for the Eco Club of Global English School. “The project has been submitted to the SSI (Sustainable School Initiative) of the Abu Dhabi Environmental Agency, which is considering it for an award in the external project category” said the Vice Principal, Mrs. Humera Sherief, who has been instrumental in coordinating with the Dubai based company and Municipal authorities. Municipality hands over houses and plots to Emiratis 1,463 houses and 2,432 plots to be distributed to eligible Emiratis Abu Dhabi: An atmosphere of heady anticipation was apparent and the halls of the Municipality of Abu Dhabi City were filled with hundreds of joyous Emiratis. They had gathered in the capital to receive keys to their new homes and deeds to their new plots. The distribution of the houses and the plots across the emirate of Abu Dhabi was announced last week by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, in line with the directives of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan. In the capital, 1,463 houses and 2,432 plots will be handed over to Emirati beneficiaries. The houses and plots are located across the capital’s suburbs, including Khalifa City and Al Wathba. According to a representative at the Abu Dhabi Housing Authority at the Ministry of Presidential Affairs, beneficiaries are selected based on their level of need for new housing. Factors that are considered include

family size, whether the parents are divorced, whether any parent is deceased and whether earning members have special needs. In order to facilitate efficient distribution of houses and plots, counters have been specifically designated at the municipality. Recipients said that the process of receiving the deeds and getting water and electricity connections for their new homes took less than half an hour. The first day of distribution saw nearly 60 per cent of beneficiaries leave with their ownership documents and keys. They were also informed about the contact details for maintenance and waste management companies, and given the house blueprints and documents for the connected water and electricity lines. The municipality will continue to distribute the Abu Dhabi city housing units over the next few days.

In keeping with the presidential decree, 236 houses and 1,713 plots in Al Ain, and another 349 houses and 350 plots, will also be distributed soon. A focus on providing Emirati families with stable and suitable housing has seen the leadership distribute nearly 4,800 villas in the capital’s Al Falah area since 2012. Source: Gulf News

ENVIRONMENT

THE PROPHET OF PROFIT

BIG BUSINESS IS WAKING UP TO THE OPPORTUNITIES OF A CLEAN ECONOMY. WE MAY BE ENTERING AN ERA WHEN AN INDUSTRIAL BOOM BENEFITS THE ENVIRONMENT.

W

arren Buffet is known as The Sage of Omaha. A perennial presence atop the Forbes Billionaire’s list, he remains a modest man, living in a large but not untypical suburban house in Omaha, driving second-hand cars that have been hail-damaged then repaired. His office has a staff of but twenty-four and no computer. He spends his days reading and thinking and playing bridge on the internet-though not in his office. He has an aversion to debt and he doesn’t go in for Silicon Valley food fads like Schmilk. In fact, he lives on junk food. You’d think a man of such responsibilities would be harassed and harried, given to bouts of Stalinesque paranoia and control-freakery. But no. Warren simply invests in well-run companies and lets the management get on with running them well while he searches for his next good idea. In short, Warren defies convention. He simply doesn’t think as other businessmen do-even when it comes to climate change. As an American industrialist, you’d expect him to see it as a threat. Executives at ExxonMobil certainly did, privately funding 12

The Source

the science that confirmed the phenomenon then working in public to deny it. As a political conservative, you’d think he’d label the whole thing a good ole liberal hoax. American politics, in general, is riddled with climate deniers. One hundred and eighty-two members of the current Congress refuse to accept that it’s happening. But where the mediocre see a scam, The Sage sees opportunity. Warren views risk to business from climate change the same way he views risk from technological change-something to be planned for. ‘Inaction now is foolhardy,’ he says. ‘Call this Noah’s Law. If an ark may be essential for survival, begin building it today, no matter how cloudless the skies appear.’ He may own a railroad that ships coal, but he’s also one of the biggest suppliers of renewable energy in the US. His company, Berkshire Hathaway Energy, has made commitments to the development of renewables in support of the deal at COP21. Buffet says the pledges make sense both environmentally and economically. And the numbers back him up. Mark Jacobson, professor of engineering at Stanford, concluded that a fossil fuel-reliant US will need 2,310 GW of energy by 2050. Alternatively, a 100 percent renewable

By AJ_Gray

energy-reliant US would need but 1,296 GW. In the transition to renewables, the country would curb global warming, create jobs, reduce air pollution and save $8,000 per person per year in terms of electricity, health and climate. It would mean a boatload of economic, social and environmental change for the better. Other businessmen are getting the message. Michael Bloomberg and Bill Gates want a slice of the pie, and financial institutions such as JP Morgan, Bank of America, Citigroup, Morgan Stanley and Wells Fargo & Co are getting in on the ground floor, cutting back investments in coal. Over the pond, UK Energy, the UK’s biggest energy lobbying group representing the six largest utilities, wants a piece of the action too. They’ve begun campaigning for lowcarbon alternatives. CEO Lawrence Slade says, ‘No one wants to be running the next Nokia.’ The time has arrived for an industrial revolution which makes as good business sense as it does environmental and social sense. Hell, if the Prophet of Profit says to build an ark, then build it. With the flood already at some people’s doors, now’s not the time for conventional thinking.

FAMILY

WHAT NOT TO DO WHEN YOUR CHILDREN ARE SICK:

A CAUTION LIST FOR OVERWHELMED PARENTS I’m not a doctor as I am sure most of you are aware. I am, however, an experienced nurse of sorts, as my husband and I recently spent two weeks taking care of children that tested positive for Influenza B. How scary does that sound? So, in laymen’s terms, they had the flu…kind of. It was the type of “flu” that lasts for 5-9 days and a high fever was only the beginning of the crisis. It started with our youngest and moved up the group properly and seemingly stronger each round. So yes, I’m no doctor but I’ve been to war with the beast and am happy to report that my children are back at school and we are back at work.

I

believe that it is my duty to share some of the wisdom that I’ve gained over the past two weeks just incase you have the unfortunate luck of meeting this beast as well.

What to do when your child is sick with flu like symptoms: 1. Don't panic when your child (not including infants) has a fever between 101-103 degrees Fahrenheit (38.4 to 39.5 degrees Celsius). Their body is fighting an infection but their chances of winning are super high.

2. Do panic when it crawls up to 104 degrees Fehrenheit (40 degrees Celius). This warrants a doctor’s visit for sure. 3. Don't be upset with a parent at your child’s school or nursery (I can’t be the only parent that has those thoughts, right?). Parents send their children sick to school all the time, both knowingly and unknowingly. Our children are going to get sick sometimes and there is nothing that we can do. 4. Do not ignore doctor’s orders; unless, of course, you are an actual doctor with a better plan.

14

The Source

5. Don't forget to use antiseptic and hide toys that are major germ carriers if you have multiple little ones. You know these toys; they are toys that look as though everyone has tasted and seen that they were good. 6. Don't scream when you find blood on bed sheets, pillows, floors, and clothes. This virus happens to be a major culprit of nosebleeds. I wish I had known that prior to rolling over to my toddler and finding blood smeared across his face and on my sheets. The trail of dry blood from his room to mine freaked me out. 7. Don't fool yourself into thinking that everyone won’t get sick. More than likely, everyone in your house will get sick (so if it’s a bother, don’t worry about hiding those toys after all). 8. Don't try to be a superwoman or superman. Your life will change for 5-9 days. You may not be able to go to work and your nights may be brutal. Try to rest when you can to resist or better fight the virus. Luckily for us, flu and cold season is coming to a close. Yet, should you happen along a bug as brutal as Influenza B, I pray that your family has a swift recovery.

THAT HAPPEN WHEN YOU QUIT

SOCIAL MEDIA

By: Azalea Zimra

5 THINGS

I wanted to do it for myself. The only reason I deactivated my various social media accounts was to find peace. I was sick of the drama my life had become, frustrated with the friends who wouldn’t leave me alone with their silly problems and embarrassed I was still cyber-stalking my ex. So I deactivated my Facebook and Twitter accounts.

1

People Thought I Was Suicidal At 9AM, I started getting text messages from friends, asking why my accounts were deactivated; was I okay, was I alive? I have never been active on social media, rarely ever posting anything, yet within a few hours, everyone knew I’d disappeared. I thought I could quietly slip out without anyone noticing. I was wrong. The Ex Thought I Was Being a Dramatic Attention Monger To add to the drama, I received angry text messages from the ex. I was accused of seeking attention and acting like a child. Why and how was it that a simple act of deactivating my social media accounts becomes a determinant of my emotional state? Have our lives becomes so reliant on social media that when one chooses to leave it, a wave of reactions hit? Why is one’s presence on social media so important to who he or she is in reality?

I Could Finally Get Work Done Notwithstanding the chaos I created, I refused to back down. I desperately needed a time-out and what initially began as a plan for me to find inner peace and escape from the chaos in my life, soon became the reason I could finally get work done. There was no more mindless scrolling of Facebook and Twitter in class when I was supposed to get my assignment done. I no longer had a reason to procrastinate. For the first time in years, I did not have to rush to meet deadlines. I Focused On the People I Was With I was no longer interested in refreshing my newsfeed. I was no longer interested in being checked in. I was no longer interested in taking pictures or having pictures taken. I finally could have real conversations. I was able to enjoy my surroundings and the company of the people I was with.

4

5

I Appreciated Life and Found Peace Facebook has always been an excuse to look busy while standing alone in public, waiting for a friend. Instead, I began people-watching and noticing my surroundings. I noticed that lone flower blooming in the depth of winter. Mornings no longer began with an update of the lives of people I no longer care about. Instead, I could wake up and concentrate on my tasks for the day. I could now enjoy meals instead of mindlessly gobbling while scrolling through Facebook and Twitter. More importantly, I found the peace I had been looking for. I had more time for myself. I had more time to read books, listen to and discover new music. As I began to have more time alone, I began to love myself more. Does it matter if I ever go back to Facebook and Twitter?

HANNAH'S HUB

MAKE YOUR BUSINESS

SUMMER SAVVY! by: Hannah Hall

Being a sun-lover and having experienced many washout summers in England, the approaching hotter months here in the UAE do not fill me with concern. Instead, I embrace the heat and focus on preparing my home with enough kit to entertain the children and keep my business ticking over the holidays.

Y

ou see, some seasonal businesses heat up during the summer, but others will see a major slow-down as customers leave for well deserved vacations.

This downtime, however, isn’t a bad thing. Savvy business owners know they can use this time to streamline office processes, develop skills, enhance marketing and just about anything else that will drive a business forward for the year ahead. To give my business a boost before things slow down for the summer, here are the 5 key areas that I will be focusing on. Why don’t you try them too? 1. Stay social! Customers won’t vanish completely, so stay connected. Leverage the power of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn and use social media as a virtual, summer shop-front. Use a content calendar to plan posts and an app such as Hootsuite to schedule and monitor views, likes and shares. A copy of the social media content planner I use, is

22

The Source

free for you to download here www. mypaforaday/downloads. 2. Form an alliance. Team up with a business that will compliment your own, then cross promote your services. For example: if you are a yoga practitioner, align with a nutritionist; if you are a caterer, seek partnerships with venues that are new to the area. It may take some testing to find the perfect fit, but this strategy is excellent for expanding your business network. 3. Ask for feedback. You should be asking your customers to review your services all year round. If you haven’t already done so, reconnect with past customers and gather their testimonials now! Use their reviews on blogs, websites, social media posts and in newsletters. You could even ask customers to submit pictures from their experience with your business, or a video to promote a case study. 4. Refer and reward. Happy customers will spread the word about your business to their professional, personal

and social networks, and should be rewarded for helping to increase your customer base. Create a simple, summer referral program, that will reward customers who recommend you with a free product or discount. 5. Create a super-niche. Find a niche market for whom your products and services could be of huge value. For example, a bakery could consider marketing specifically to a gluten free audience. Diversifying your product or service is the oldest strategy in business history and focusing on a niche market will help you stand out from the crowd. Being creative in the ways you reach out to customers will help you succeed in the long run. Marketing doesn't have to be hard or expensive and the simplest ideas can be the most effective. Here’s to wishing you success with your business growth during the forthcoming summer months! As always feel free to reach out to me with any questions at hannahhall@mypaforaday.com.

TIPS AND TOES TOP MODEL After a month-long search for the next Tips and Toes Top Model and thousands of entries submitted via email, Facebook and Instagram, the three lucky winners were finally revealed during the glamorous Tips and Toes event, which was held on 15th February, at Toro Toro, in the Grosvenor House Hotel.

L

aunched to celebrate beauty from all walks of life, Tips and Toes’ Next Top Model campaign encouraged women over the age of 18 to ‘enter as they are’ and take part in this national campaign. All customers had to do was snap a picture of themselves and share it with them on their social media platforms or by email. Little did the national chain of nail salons and personal care expect it to raise the kind of awareness that it did and be as successful as it turned out, with over 3000 entries out of which the three winners were selected: Nadya Alawiny, Mais Mohammed and Fatima Alsalihiy.

Unlike traditional beauty competitions and campaigns, Tips and Toes set out to discover and highlight the different types of beauties that walk into their stores on a daily basis, a fact that played a large part in the campaign being shared across the different social media platforms and by countless independent bloggers. Apart from receiving AED 10,000 worth of free services, each, from Tips & Toes, the three lucky winners will also play the coveted role of brand ambassadors while taking part in some of Tips and Toes’ photo shoots, interviews and features; after all, the three winners were selected from the countless women who walk into Tips and Toes on a regular basis so they already know the brand quite well.

NOW LET’S MEET THE LADIES: Nadya Alawiny (Age: 24) Nationality: Emirati / Chinese

Nadya is a recent graduate from the Middlesex University in Dubai with a Bachelor in Psychology. Aside from being an avid fashion and beauty follower and enthusiast by trade, Nadya is currently working on a technology project start up with Abu Dhabi University. A fan of sports, animals and charities, one of Nadya’s greatest achievements has been winning Miss Chinese cosmos beauty pageant for the ‘Middle East’ title in 2009, at the tender age of 18. Today, Nadya has gone on to enter and win the Tips and Toes #TNTModelME campaign and is one of the three faces of the Spring / Summer Campaign.

Mais Mohammed (Age: 28) Nationality: Canadian

Mais Mohammed, was born and raised in the UAE, with roots from Iraq. Mais graduated from the American University in Dubai with a degree in Interior Design. However, her real passion has always been TV presenting and after cutting her teeth in everything from film dubbing to radio presenting, Mais now presents live segments of Desert Force on MBC Action and through her own youtube channel that focuses on her main hobbies; fitness and adventures, primarily focused on maintaining a happy lifestyle.

Fatima Alsalihiy (Age: 26) Nationality: Canadian Fatima was born and raised with her identical twin sister in Ottawa, Canada (with parents originally from Iraq). 6 months ago, after having completed her Master’s degree and receiving her teaching certificate, she moved to the UAE where she now teaches in an all-boys public school. She is also involved with all sorts of activities outside of work, such as sports teams and dance classes as well as being passionate about fashion and makeup.

After discovering Tips and Toes in 2011, I was blown away by their gelish manicure; I love it and have been a huge fan ever since. It's always a positive and amazing place with a warm welcoming staff and I am proud to be representing Tips and Toes as one of the faces of the next campaign Super excited! I discovered tips and toes when it first opened and have been a devoted fan ever since. Being the face of and representing the brand is truly an honor and I am so grateful and delighted to be a part of such a beautiful campaign.

I discovered Tips and Toes a few years ago with my younger sister while visiting the UAE. I love the Hamam Maghrabi - it is so relaxing! LATE STONE AGE LIFE REVEALED BY NEW EXCAVATIONS ON MARAWAH ISLAND NEW ARCHAEOLOGICAL EXCAVATIONS ON MARAWAH ISLAND HAVE UNCOVERED THE EARLIEST KNOWN INHABITANTS OF THE EMIRATE OF ABU DHABI PROVIDING A UNIQUE INSIGHT INTO LIFE DURING THE LATE STONE AGE IN ABU DHABI'S WESTERN REGION.

A

programme of archaeological surveys carried out by Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi) since 2012 has identified more than 20 major sites on the island, ranging in date from the Late Stone Age period (around 7,500 years ago) to the recent historical period, with two Late Stone Age villages discovered at the western end of Marawah Island, comprising a series of occupation mounds. More than two hundred flint arrowheads were collected from the surface of the sites, known as MR1 and MR11, whilst further excavations at MR11 have revealed a very interesting stone building rich in finds. Mohammed Amer Al Neyadi, Director of the Historic Environment department at TCA Abu Dhabi, said: “We now have a clear idea of the plan and form of a 7,500 year old house, which is one of the earliest known examples of stone built architecture in the Gulf region. “One of the most important finds was the discovery of a human skeleton. This partial skeleton was inserted into one of the already semi-collapsed rooms of the house, indicating that the structure had originally been used as a house for the living, and then later as a ‘house for the dead’. This burial, found within the central room, was placed in a crouched position on its side with its head oriented towards the east. This form of burial is typical of other known Late Stone Age burials, such as those known from Jebel Buhais in Sharjah emirate, replicas of which can be seen in the Sharjah Archaeology Museum,” added Al Neyadi. Marawah Island is located around 100km to the west of Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates and is home to important marine and coastal ecosystems. Dr Mark Beech, Head of Coastal Heritage and Palaeontology at TCA Abu Dhabi, and director of the archaeological project on Marawah Island, said: "The latest phase of our work on Marawah Island has concentrated on the investigation of the earliest known settlements in Abu Dhabi, namely the Late Stone Age settlements at MR1 and MR11. “ Other finds discovered within the house include beautiful shell and stone beads, as well as a number of interesting stone tools. A large flint spear was found, which may have been used for hunting dugongs or turtles. Dhabi, was responsible for the initial discovery and excavation of the skeleton. Other notable sites discovered on Marawah Island by the TCA Abu Dhabi archaeological team include a large complex of cooking hearths dating to the Bronze and Iron Age periods (between 5,000 - 3,000 years ago), some early Islamic period lime kilns, and various sites associated with the historical period (during the past 250 years) when pearling and fishing were the main economic activities. These include a dry-stone walled mosque in Liffa village, a series of middens in Marawah village, an Islamic cemetery and old wooden courtyard house, boathouse and mosque in Gubba village, as well as a nearby traditional water catchment system and wells. "We still have a large area to excavate at both the Late Stone age villages of MR1 and MR11," added Dr Mark Beech. "Our recent work has revealed a very interesting tri-partite form of house. This is extremely well built and is made from the local limestone collected from the surrounding area. The walls of the structure are extremely thick, being between 60-70cm wide. This indicates that the structure was created by corbelled walls, which helped to create an elongated dome appearance for the house. Following the construction of the central chamber in an approximately north-south orientation, two additional chambers or rooms were then added to the east and west side of it." Finds from the TCA Abu Dhabi excavation also reveal that the inhabitants of the Stone Age settlement maintained domestic animals there, with fragments of sheep or goat bones being identified. Some hunting was carried out for gazelle. For the most part, however, the inhabitants exploited the rich marine resources available around Marawah Island. The Marawah Marine Protected Area was established by Emiri decree no.18 of 2001, which made it one of the largest marine protected areas designated within the Gulf region, and in 2007, the site, its associated islands and coastline were declared as the Marawah Marine Biosphere Reserve (MMBR) by the Man and Biosphere Programme of UNESCO. The habitats within the MMBR are considered to be of national and regional importance, and include seagrasses, mangrove, coral reefs, coastal sabkhas, rocky seashores, sandy seashores and rocky ridges. The area is also of global importance as a shelter and feeding ground for dugongs.

The Exact Moment Ben Affleck Realized ‘Batman v Superman’ Sucks He hasn’t felt this low since “Gigli.” When it comes to bad action movies, we’ve all Ben there and done that. But “Batman v Superman“ was supposed to be different. It had a great cast, and it had all the hype. Like, c’mon. This movie was supposed to kick off the beginnings of “The Justice League” franchise. Then reviews came out, and they weren’t good. In an interview with Yahoo, the cast was asked for their opinion on the reviews, and Ben Affleck’s blank response is genuinely just the saddest thing. And if that wasn’t enough, someone set it to Simon & Garfunkel’s “The Sound of Silence.” After seeing the movie, all we can say about Affleck’s reaction is, “We agree.”

Pulkit Samrat To Go Lean!

There was a lot of hard work that went into Pulkit Samrat's impressive muscular physique in his last film, Sanam Re. He will maintain the same look for his upcoming movie as well. However, we have learnt that, for a third film - the sequel to Fukrey (2013) - the actor will lose a lot of his muscle to get a leaner body. A source says, "Pulkit is all set to shed the muscle weight he had gained for his previous films. His new look will be closer to the leaner avatar he had in Fukrey. Currently, he weighs around 71kg, and will lose nearly 10kg now." The insider adds that the actor will be seen playing a college student in the film, and he has already started planning his fitness routine for the same. "He is very excited about the movie. In fact, Pulkit, and the entire cast of the film, have kept in touch all this while; they also catch up frequently," says the source. Pulkit confirms the development, saying, "I will start working towards getting a leaner look soon. There will be a lot of changes in my diet and my workout regimen. But, till my second movie releases, I will have to maintain my current physique, because my character requires me to look bulked up." 30

Hugh Jackman Rescues Swimmer And Son From Dangerous Surf

SYDNEY (Reuters) - Australian actor Hugh Jackman turned reallife action hero at Sydney’s Bondi Beach on Saturday, when he helped his son and another man to safety from strong currents in the surf. Jackman is shown linking hands with a man and pulling him from a fast-flowing channel on to a sandbar, where the water is shallow, in television footage broadcast by the Nine Network. The network said Jackman later helped his own son, Oscar, 15, from the same current. Peter Adam, who told Nine he was the man Jackman helped, said he wasn’t rescued by the film star. “He wasn’t rescuing me, I was assisting him to get his daughter up to the sandbar. He then grabbed my hand to get us up,” Adam said. The actor is also shown beckoning other swimmers to shore, away from a rip current flowing out to sea. Jackman was at the beach with his family, Sydney’s Sunday Telegraph newspaper reported. Witness Lynzey Murphy told the paper that surf conditions changed quickly, but that Jackman stayed calm. “When we got in the water 20 minutes earlier it was fine. Then the water just came up suddenly,” she said. “Hugh just pulled them calmly on to the sandbar. He then said: ‘All right, we are going to walk towards the flags.’” A lifeguard told the paper that the beach was later closed because of dangerous surf.

Apple TV Scores March Madness App Exclusive: Split-Screen Games

Windows and Mac

A new beta is headed to the PlayStation 4, and it’s bringing a batch of new features with it. The beta kicks off tomorrow, Sony writes in the PlayStation Blog, and will allow those in the program to try out the latest version of the PS4 firmware, version 3.50, code-named Musashi. A major theme of the update seems to be how you can use the PS4 to interact with your friends, and that includes not interacting with them at all. The new firmware offers the ability to see when your friends get online, but it also brings the option to appear offline, should you want to play solo for a while.

When the new NCAA March Madness Live app goes live Thursday, it will be available on more platforms than ever before. But only Apple TV users will get a coveted feature: the ability to watch two games at once. Given the sheer volume of simultaneously played games during the tournament, which kicks off March 15, split-screen has been a longawaited feature. While one game plays, Apple TV owners with pay-TV subscriptions can pull up a choice of other games and watch them side

by side on TV. There’s even the capability of switching off on the audio feed. “We believe Apple TV is the perfect platform to experiment with this and bring the two together in a shared environment,” said Lisa Estrin, senior UX lead, NCAA Digital, at a Los Angeles showcase for Apple TV apps hosted by Apple earlier this week. “We look forward to more collaboration in the future.” The NCAA created the app together with TV partners Turner Sports and CBS Sports. In addition to Apple TV, the app

will be available via Amazon Fire tablets, Amazon Fire TV, iPhone, iPad, Android handset, Android tablet, Windows handset, Windows desktop, Apple Watch, Roku players and Roku TV models. Since launching four months ago, the new Apple TV has built up its arsenal of apps to 3,600. The device has also continued to refine its functionality, including the extension of its universal search feature to Disney and Fox-owned networks, as well as PBS.

A BALKAN ROAD TRIP Budva, Montenegro It's all about sun, sand and James Bond in the Montenegrin resort town of Petrovac, which was used as a filming location for Casino Royale. Situated within the district of Budva, Petrovac is dotted with spas, such as Monte Casa Spa and Wellness which offers a range of pamper packages and even has a Turkish hammam. If you want to try island life, rent a fishing boat from the harbour. And if you want to dance the night away, take a taxi up to Top Hill, the open-air club where Montenegrins go to party. Tito's Cave, Drvar, Bosnia After the Nazis invaded Yugoslavia in the Second World War, the town of Drvar became the headquarters of the partisans' resistance movement. Controversial dictator Tito set up his headquarters-cum-hideout just outside the town, and from this cave withstood German air raids with the help of Allied forces. At the end of the uphill path 34

MY WORLD

to the cave's entrance, you're rewarded with a great view across Drvar – and the cave itself is a popular spot for leaving a geocache. Drvar's local rakiya, a plum brandy popular throughout the Balkans, can be enjoyed once you get back down. Church of St Blaise, Vodnjan, Croatia Where can you see a particle of Jesus's cross or the undecayed tongue of St Mary of Egypt? St Blaise in the Istrian village of Vodnjan is your best bet. It is home to the desiccated remains of six saints and 380 other relics, all enclosed in glass cabinets. Why the bodies of the saints have remained intact is a mystery – legend has it that they have special powers – but the church's exquisite baroque façade is arguably just as magical. Buzet, Croatia The architecture in medieval Buzet, in the Istrian peninsula, is a reminder of the days

the Venetian empire ruled this town, and there are some super views overlooking the Mirna River, but most folk come for the truffles. Visit in September and you'll be able to join in Subotina Po Starinski, a traditional fair celebrating the Virgin Mary's birthday at which the truffle takes centre stage – the locals cook up the world's biggest truffle omelette and wash it down with biska, mistletoe-flavoured brandy. Njegusi Village, Montenegro Njeguši, a mountain village in southern Montenegro, lays claims to the heart of Montenegrin cuisine. It's known for its prsut (air-dried ham), lepinja (flat bread) and njeguski sir (cheese) which can be bought sliced in a jar of olive oil, making it the kind of cheese you can keep in your car. For an authentic meal, try the Nevjesta Jadrana restaurant. Vrulja Cove, Croatia Want a beach all to yourself? Head to Brela, on the island of Vrulja. Its white pebble beach, fringed with figs and olives, stretches for six kilometres – and the coastline is full of coves that make it perfect for privacy. Vrulja Cove, the area's most beautiful spot, is a gem that is quite literally, hidden – it's actually far easier to get to it by boat than by land.

Syri Kalter, Albania Syri Kalter means Blue Eye in Albanian, and when you reach this amazing water spring you'll see why. A geological phenomenon, the 50m-deep spring is a deep blue at its centre, with a lighter blue ring surrounding it, resembling a pupil and its iris. Throw a stone into its centre, and it will pop back up after a little while. It's a bit cold for swimming (an average of 10C in the water), but you can always hire a pedalo for a closer look. And the Demi restaurant nearby offers a delicious al fresco seafood lunch overlooking the sea. Rozafa Castle, Shkodra, Albania If you like horror stories, you'll love Rozafa Castle. Legend has it that the three brothers who built this castle were told to sacrifice one of their wives, and the chosen wife was bricked into an alcove, which still remains. It sits on the edge of Lake Shkoder, the largest lake in the Balkans, and the city of Shkodra is worth a visit for its Malazeze cuisine alone: flavoursome dishes from the mountain regions, consisting of grilled meat and fish.

Karadjordje's tomb is found in St George's Church, along with the magnificent mausoleum of the Serbian royal family (he may have been a revolutionary, but he still founded his own royal line).
