We understand and agree completely. Our philosophy of early childhood education alongside our native English speaking staff, provides the right foundation to build active minds, healthy bodies and happy hearts. That’s the reason parents trust us with their children's early education!

Breast cancer is the second most common kind of cancer in women and millions of women are affected by breast cancer each year. Local produce or imports must be approved by UAE authorities before sale

Dubai: Food products made or sold in the UAE that claim to be organic without federal certification will be seized, officials said on Sunday. Local produce claiming to be organic must be certified by the federal Emirates Authority for Standards and Metrology (Esma). At the retail level, the certified produce must carry the Esma organic sticker, said Yousuf Al Marzouqi, Head of International Conformity Affairs Section, Esma.

Imports, meanwhile, must meet Ministry of Environment and Water rules. Only imports on a ministryapproved list of foreign organic certification bodies will be allowed into the UAE, said Abdullah Al Mansouri, Head of Plant Health Section at the ministry.. Broadly speaking, those bodies are mainly pan-European and pan-American certification groups that verify that the product is organic in the country of origin, he added...

Drive to collect 20 tonnes of clothes for Yemen Campaign encourages Dubai residents to donate clothes for people in need in Yemen

Dubai: A month-long campaign has been launched in the UAE to collect clothes for people in the war-affected areas of Yemen, organisers said on Sunday. Launched on October 21 by Oasis Mall in collaboration with Emirates Red Crescent (ERC), ‘Clothes for Compassion’ is collecting clothes until November 21. Sanjay Kapoor, general manager, Oasis Mall, told Gulf News that the drive, now in its third year, aims to collect and deliver more donations than has been collected in the last two years of the initiative. “As part of this year’s drive, we’re hoping to see greater participation from the local communities, with an aim to curtail the hardships in Yemen. We’re positively hoping to surpass last year’s collection of 18 tonnes by 20 per cent,” Kapoor said. Last year, the campaign collected clothes for Syrian refugees in Jordan. This year, the ‘Clothes for Compassion’ donation drive kick-started with Babyshop donating 5,000 pieces of children’s garments worth Dh250,000 towards the cause. Ruban Shanmugarajah, general manager of Babyshop, highlighted the brand’s full support to the ‘Clothes for Compassion’ initiative and this year’s “worthy cause”. “Children are often caught in the middle of wars, and we wanted to reach out and support the cause in the best way 10

Donors can make their contributions at the mall’s collection points, before they are delivered to the ERC for final distribution to Yemeni people in need.

The drive also aims to support UAE Red Crescent’s ‘Yemen We Care’ campaign, which will manage the delivery and distribution process. The ERC’s humanitarian campaign aimed to help more than 10 million people affected by the unfolding crisis in Yemen, and is still accepting and delivering donations.

Mohammad Abdullah Al Haj Al Zarouni, manager of the Dubai branch of ERC, pointed out the charity’s collaboration with Oasis Mall for the third consecutive year continues to support various initiatives across the world where relief operations, shelter, financial support, medical and educational support are required. “This time it’s to support the people of

Dryer, Dryer… Once upon a whim, I tossed a burning match into the clothes dryer. Nothing much happened. When I reached inside to retrieve the spent stick, a wisp of chemically stinky smoke coiled out. But that was it. On the whole, it was a non-event.

L

OR SO I THOUGHT. ater that morn, my mother summoned her delinquent horde. She loomed above us like a judge, one hand on hip, the other clutching a plastic lattice-thingy all drooping and blackened from exposure to heat Exhibit A, the filter from

her dryer. She wished to know whodunnit. Each of us shook our heads, I thought with equal innocence. But soon all eyes converged upon me. Perhaps the shaking of my head had been less convincing than the trembling of my knees, or perhaps it was the stench of conscience steaming from my body and the expression of imminent puking upon my marble-white face. Initially, Mum just wanted me to realize it had been dangerous and therefore dumb. But then I pushed the big red button. It wasn’t me, I said. It wasn’t, it wasn’t, it wasn’t, it wasn’t. A cataclysm materialized on the heels of those five boldfaced lies. As the truth erupted around me, I collapsed into a quivering rubble of tears. And so, just as confrontation with the evidence exposed my guilt, confrontation with clarity exposes the theme of this article. When you’re wrong, you’re wrong. Best simply to own up and get on with life. Back in 1953, confronted with evidence that its product was killing people, the tobacco industry hired a public relations firm. As you would. More than forty years on, the heads of big tobacco were still propagating the illusion that the science was inconclusive. Did smoking cause cancer? Well, would come the answer, we just don’t know… The PR strategy was to manufacture doubt. It worked so well that other questionable industries began dipping into the same bag of tricks and deploying the deceptions to similarly successful effect: asbestos, fire retardants and - you guessed it - fossil fuels.

One tried and tested dodge works just like the Three-card Monte. In this classic con, a dealer enlists apparently independent people called shills to convince a mark to bet. The shills appear to win, so the mark believes they can too. The appearance of legitimacy is key. In terms of fossil fuels, it means that we encounter “expert” representatives of think tanks and “citizen groups” saying things like, “The scientific evidence does not support the notion that humans are causing a global warming crisis” or “There’s no scientific basis for alarm” or, irony of ironies, “Climate scientists have a political agenda and they’re using science to drive that agenda.” The claim to expertise drives the deception. Doubt is the product. The goal is to delay action. Is there any doubt among scientists? Well, no. An examination of every paper published between 1992 and 2002 which included “global climate change” as a keyword phrase revealed that all ninehundred and twenty-eight agreed that global warming is a consequence of human activity. Not one disagreed. That’s zilch. Diddly. And that was thirteen years ago. The captains of carbon are wrong and they know it. They’re using shills to project the appearance of legitimacy while conning as much as they can from the marks. They lack the maturity to own up. For us, the question is what to do about it. Well, as magician Jamy Swiss points out, “a trick revealed is never concealed,” so find out how the illusion works and confront them. Watch Merchants of Doubt: takepart.com/doubt.

By: Sally

urban woman

My name is Sally. I’m a dietitian. And I hand out candy to trick-or-treaters. In the past, I’ve doled out bags of pretzels, small tubs of Play-Doh, and sheets of stickers too (and see nothing wrong with going that route). But mostly, we hand out candy - usually chocolate. To know me is to know that I can get riled up about junk food. Especially when it’s on the sidelines of kids’ sports every weekend. I’m that mom calling the summer camp director to ask about switching from Powerade to water. I’m the lady stopping at the front desk of the rec center to chat about the junk in the vending machine Yet when it comes to trick-or-treating, I’m cool with candy. Why? Because I think it’s okay to celebrate some occasions with food. But I also know that trick-or-treating can spiral into candy craziness, so here’s how I make it work in our house:

1 3

I wait until the very last minute to buy candy. Ideally, I’m at the store at 3pm on the day of trick-or-treating. Once upon a time, I made the tragic error of buying Halloween candy in advance, which of course meant we ate it, bought more, ate that, and bought more.

I play the Switch Witch. After my kids return home to dump and sort their stash, they reserve a pile of their favorites. The rest (the stuff they don’t like or don’t like very much) goes into a bowl on the dining room table. While they’re sleeping, the Switch Witch arrives to take the candy and replace it with a toy or game. This is optional at my house. My kids aren’t forced to turn over their candy, and last year they kept a pretty sizeable amount. I like that this fun tradition teaches them to value what they like best–but not waste time on the stuff they don’t, simply because it’s there. In our culture of omni-present junk, that’s a useful skill.

14

The Source

2 4

I give my kids free reign. We eat dinner before trick-or-treating, then all bets are off. They can eat as much as they want, which often comes with its own handy life lesson: If you eat too many sweets, sometimes your belly hurts and you feel gross.

I put them in charge of their stash. In our house, we have a one-treat-a-day policy which works most of the time. You can have your treat whenever you want: after school, after dinner, even WITH dinner. My two boys’ Halloween candy is kept in separate bags in a cupboard they can access. We decide together what a reasonable portion is (usually a fun-size bar or two small pieces of candy) and they serve themselves. They don’t obsess. There’s no sneaking of candy; well, sometimes I sneak a piece and get caught when one of them finds the wrapper in my office garbage can. So that’s how it’s done in our house because this seems to work well (for now at least!). You may do things differently, and that’s okay. But if you sneak your kids’ candy, do a better job than me of hiding the evidence.

TOP 10 SIGNS YOU ARE TOO OLD TO BE TRICK OR TREATING: 10. You get winded from knocking on the door. 9. You have to have a kid chew the candy for you. 8. You ask for high fiber candy only. 7. When someone drops a candy bar in your bag, you lose your balance and fall over. 6. People say, "Great Keith Richard's mask!" and you're not wearing a mask. 5. When the door opens you yell, "Trick or ..." and can't remember the rest. 4. By the end of the night, you have a bag full of restraining orders. 3. You have to carefully choose a costume that won't dislodge your hairpiece. 2. You're the only Power Ranger in the neighborhood with a walker. 1. You avoid going to houses where your ex-wives/ex-husbands live.

Rocky

The Cab Driver

One Halloween a trick-or-treater came to my door dressed as "Rocky" in boxing gloves and satin shorts. Soon after I gave him some goodies, he returned for more. "Aren't you the same 'Rocky' who left my doorstep several minutes ago?" I asked. "Yes," he replied, "but now I'm the sequel. I'll be back three more times tonight too."

A cabbie picks up a nun. She gets into the cab, and the cab driver won't stop staring at her. She asks him why is he staring and he replies, "I have a question to ask you but I don't want to offend you."She answers, 'My dear son, you cannot offend me. When you're as old as I am and have been a nun a long as I have, you get a chance to see and hear just about everything. I'm sure that there's nothing you could say or ask that I would find offensive."

Wolfman The Wolf Man comes home one day from a long day at the office. "How was work, dear?" his wife asks. "Listen! I don't want to talk about work!" he shouts. "Okay. Would you like to sit down and eat a nice home cooked meal?" she asks nicely. "Listen!" he shouts again. "I'm not hungry! I don't wanna eat! Alright! Is that alright with you? Can I come home from work and just do my own thing without you forcing food down my throat? Huh?" At this moment, the wolf man started growling, and throwing things around the apartment in a mad rage. Looking out the window, his wife sees a full moon and says to herself, "Well, I guess it's that time of the month."

16

The Source

"Well, I've always had a fantasy to have a nun kiss me." She responds, "Well, let's see what we can do about that: #1, you have to be single and #2 you must be Catholic." The cab driver is very excited and says, "Yes, I am single and I'm Catholic too!" The nun says "OK, pull into the next alley." He does and the nun fulfills his fantasy. But when they get back on the road, the cab driver starts crying. "My dear child, said the nun, why are you crying?" "Forgive me sister, but I have sinned. I lied, I must confess, I'm married and I'm Jewish." The nun says, "That's OK, my name is Kevin and I'm on my way to a Halloween party."

The catwoman of abu dhabi A SUPER HERO WITH A "PURR-POSE" By Farid Nouisser

cover story

When a friend of mine told me about an extraordinary woman on a mission to solve the UAE’s stray cat problem, I was more than intrigued; especially when I heard how many of the little furry friends are currently sharing her spacious villa in Abu Dhabi. I was asked not to disclose the actual number to protect the innocent! Let’s just say that upon my arrival at Dr. Susan Aylott’s home, I was greeted by an elegant, enthusiastic - to say the least - and well spoken woman and her feline entourage of every shape and colour. There were cats in the yard, cats in the garage, cats in every corner of the immaculate house and shortly after being escorted to a comfy chair in the lounge, there was an adorable and most affectionate character named Dale, getting settled in on my lap!

D

r. Susan Aylott hails from London, England, where she practiced as an Ear Nose Throat (ENT) specialist. She completed a PHD in the UAE in hopes of pursuing research related work but instead, a sightseeing trip to LuLu Island, just off of the Abu Dhabi shore 3 years ago, steered our good doctor in a completely unexpected direction. One that has, is and will continue to make a difference to the many four legged destitute creatures in desperate need of the efforts of this compassionate woman. On LuLu Island she discovered a couple of frail obviously abandoned - cats on the beach and followed them inland to discover another 30 odd similarly ill fated creatures suffering from broken limbs, severe dehydration and starvation, disease and mutilation, including injuries such as protruding fish hooks from their emaciated legs and jaws. She immediately sprang into action using her own resources and the help of a few kind volunteers to save the cats of LuLu Island. For the past three years Susan has made incredible progress appealing to related Abu Dhabi government entities, the private sector and a host of volunteers, all of which have come together to help execute her successful plan of healing, sterilizing and nourishing the animals throughout the city of Abu Dhabi and the surrounding area. The idea is to implement a T. N. R. program, where the animals are trapped, undergo health checks, neutered and then returned to an

environment where clean water and feeding stations are available to sustain them. Six months ago Dr. Aylott founded Animal Welfare Abu Dhabi (A.W.A.D.) and since then, this one woman dynamo has managed to solicit the services of over 500 volunteers to assist in the maintenance of 120 strategically located feeding stations throughout the city. The volunteers are provided with T.N.R. training and follow a well orchestrated protocol in relation to their particular stations. Each branded station is replenished with food and clean water regularly. The presence of the many stations also enhances the success of the T.N.R. program, as the authorities providing the sterilization services can now easily locate the various city-wide colonies. Susan Aylott has been relentless in her battle to save and ultimately eradicate the unnecessary suffering of stray cats in this country. Each day her efforts continue to successfully recruit individual citizens and corporations of all sizes, whose sponsorships are greatly appreciated along the crusade. She recently - much to the delight of our city and its cat population – met with Animal Welfare Al Ain to discuss a collaboration that would bring the T.N.R. program to The Garden City, and volunteers have already been recruited to get things started! And so came to an end an absolutely purr-fect evening in the company of a woman who I had, in the space of a couple of pleasant hours, come to admire and respect immensely. I now found myself having to say good bye and prepare for the drive back to Al Ain. In this world of self serving inconsiderate people, it is often difficult to find someone whose goal in life revolves around giving of themselves for the benefit of those around them. In the case of Dr. Susan Aylott, I can sympathize with her desire to help our four legged unconditionally loving friends, as I believe all too often, too many humans are the recipients of more love than they deserve. As I was gently removing my furry orange buddy, Dale, from my lap, Susan remarked that he seemed to have grown very fond of me and it might be a great idea to take him home. Unfortunately, my spoiled little feline princess in Al Ain would not likely approve and I respectfully declined the very generous offer. But for anyone who would like to give one of Susan’s adorable family members a forever home or volunteer, you can contact A.W.A.D. via email at animalwelfareead@aol.com or visit the Animal-Welfare-Abu-Dhabi Facebook page.

Babyshop Ushers in the

Holiday Season with an Exquisite

Autumn/ Winter Collection

Babyshop recently announced the launch of its Autumn/ Winter Clothing Collection. The new collection entwines kids’ chic style with warmth and comfort. The collection brings to life the popular winter themes, which are represented with classic shapes, floral prints and ruffles for girls. The same can be seen in the boys collection with the combination of formal and casual, creating the perfect everyday look. “Gone are the days when parents’ would pick out their children’s clothes. We are now in a time when each child has an individual preference of style, and prefer to select their own clothes. At Babyshop, we have kept that key factor in mind, and are offering various styles, colors, and fabrics, whilst keeping the warmth and comfort of the children in mind,” commented Elizabeth Mac Hale, Head Buyer, Babyshop. “What’s most exciting about the winter collection is that it introduces different prints such as vibrant exotic blooms on dark jersey, and brings about an autumnal theme with leaves, sticks, pine cones, etc. in addition to popular animal prints to perfectly fit the theme.

CONFESSIONS

OF A DOULA

I

Looking back now, I can almost-sort-of-kinda-not-really laugh about it. My husband still hasn't forgotten about it, and it was such a raw moment that really captured the intensity of my journey through new motherhood. threw a shoe at my 6 month old. My husband was holding him and I think I may have almost wanted to hit them.

I know I wanted something to happen. I was thinking that if I threw that shoe hard enough maybe it would crack the layer of suffocation I was feeling around me. Maybe it would give me some air, or maybe I'd get in trouble and someone would say "Okay, she's clearly had enough. Let's give her a week off from this motherhood thing." I don't remember what it was exactly, but I was overwhelmed. I was tired and stressed and the days and weeks and months of constant caring for a baby on almost no sleep were starting to really get to me. My son never napped for more than exactly 30 minutes at a time and my husband was working his regular job, leaving 5 nights a week to play music. He was living his life exactly as it had always been, while it seemed like I was rotting into a corner of our couch. I missed my old life -- the one I had before the baby. I worked late hours, spent the days hanging out with my husband or friends, had dinner parties and went anywhere I felt like going, whenever I felt like (that last one still makes me jealous of my old, naive self). The reality of motherhood had me feeling pretty disenchanted. I vented to my mother about how everyone had been lying to me. "How could you all act like this is fun? Why in the world would any of you mothers have let me go down this path?!" I remember one day I posted on Facebook "Motherhood is the worst

The Source

job I've ever had." I felt deceived. I felt like I wasn't enjoying every moment. I felt like my journey wasn't beautiful and easy and it wasn't just me and my baby sitting around blissfully staring into each other's eyes. Instead it was me, staring at the clock wondering when bedtime would come. Most days seemed to tick by and I felt like a slave to this tiny, demanding creature. Feeding, diapers, timing naps, entertaining someone with the attention span of a fruit fly... It felt pretty tedious most days. So, I can relate. I see it in the eyes of so many new moms: that hazy, glazed over, tired, touched-outlook. I feel you, ladies. I have totally been there! I think most people assume because I'm a doula I must be some Mary Poppins/Pollyanna type singing songs about the joys of children... Trust me -- my mission is to normalize the insanity of being a new parent because we all have bad days! Cheerios on the floor so we can catch a 15 minute nap, Netflix on for too long, the swing that was on for three hours that morning so you could drink your coffee hot. That's what we call Survival 101. It's when survival turns into sadness or depression that we need to take a closer look and make sure that everyone is coming out of the glazed and tired place eventually. We need to make sure that we talk to each other, and connect, find our motherhood tribe and make sure that we get help if we need it. Because throwing a shoe at your baby never fixes anything. Trust me.

As the number of refugee and migrant arrivals to Greece hits half a million, The UNHCR warns of continued chaos unless reception in Greece is strengthened and relocation expedited. n Greece, the number of sea arrivals this year has now passed the half-million mark with the arrival yesterday on the Aegean islands of nearly 8,000 people, bringing the total to some 502,500. The total number of arrivals so far in Europe via the Mediterranean is now over 643,000. The spike in arrivals in Greece is sharply increasing reception pressures on the islands. Many of the refugees and migrants are desperate to quickly move onwards, fearing that borders ahead of them will close. As of this morning, there were more than 27,500 people on the islands – either awaiting registration or onward transport to the mainland. Additional police had to be called in on Sunday and yesterday to control the chaotic situation. It is of utmost importance here, as in other parts of Europe, that reception conditions be adequate to the task. Without this essential element, the relocation programme agreed by Europe in September is in serious peril and may fail. After the chaotic and miserable scenes over the past few days, borders along the Balkan routes have reopened. On the Serbian border with Croatia, some 3000 people were left waiting amid uncertainty in the rain from Sunday until late Monday afternoon without shelter, and with minimal assistance on hand. UNHCR staff and staff of our partner organizations provided what support they could at such short notice including food, water, and blankets. But many people, including the elderly, pregnant women and several physically handicapped people, were soaked through and instances of hypothermia were reported. There was similar misery on the Croatia-Slovenia border. And while conditions are still difficult in some places and there is a backlog, movement has resumed, with 4,300 people arriving in Austria from Slovenia yesterday. Meanwhile, in Austria and Germany, tens of thousands of refugees and migrants are sleeping in tents and temporary shelters because of accommodation shortages. In the Aegean, we are saddened by the recent wave of deaths at sea among people crossing from Turkey into Greece. 19 people have died in the past 9 days in five separate incidents, almost half of these over the weekend. Infants and children were among those who have perished. Refugees we spoke to over the weekend told us that smugglers are offering discounts rates for crossings in bad weather and packing more people onto boats.

making a difference At least 123 people have died or gone missing in Greek territorial waters so far this year (in all, at least 3,135 have perished in the Mediterranean to date in 2015). We are concerned at the potential for this number to rise further as people try to beat the onset of winter and fears of new border-closures. UNHCR urges that search and rescue operations be further strengthened in this area to reduce risks. To address the current situation in Europe, various measures of stabilization are needed in countries of first asylum and

all countries of secondary movements to reduce irregular secondary movements. These measures include strong support to countries hosting the vast majority of Syrian, Iraqi and Afghan refugees, an information campaign informing of the dangers of the sea journey, and the development of legal pathways to seek protection in Europe. In countries of secondary movement in Europe, significant efforts must be made to develop a robust reception and registration capacity in order for the relocation programme to work.

AL AIN, CITY OF BEAUTY

T

he events, attractions and family-friendly activities of the emirate’s heritage heartland of Al Ain will be the focus of an intense marketing and promotional campaign by Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi) and is set to position Al Ain as the ‘City of Beauty’.

Running through until December, the campaign underlines TCA Abu Dhabi’s goals to highlight the diversity of experiences across the emirate, and establish Al Ain as a global tourist destination. The campaign aims to emphasise the distinctive aspects and breathtaking nature of the Oasis City’s spectacular mountains, soothing greenery and 7,000-year-old heritage destinations. The archaeological sites and ancient civilisations of Al Ain are UNESCO inscribed world heritage site and of incredible value as a regional tourism differentiator. Many hotels and entertainment centres are undertaking marketing and promotional offers to encourage visitors from all over the UAE to visit Al Ain highlighting the opportunity to experience the city’s ancient heritage and experience the authentic Emirati way of life. Al Ain welcomed 345,669 visitors in 2014 generating AED351,095,497 (US $95.5million) in direct hotel revenue. For the first eight months of 2015, Al Ain’s 17 hotels and hotel apartments attracted 244,371 guests generating 491,781 guest nights, an increase of 9% and 8% respectively, while accommodation occupancy has grown by 5% to 67% over the comparative period in 2014, according to figures released by TCA Abu Dhabi.

The Al Ain Air Championship also makes a welcome return to the skies above the oasis city between 17-19 December. Many other cultural and heritage events will be held underlining the reputation of Al Ain as a tourist destination for the whole family including the events of the inaugural Abu Dhabi Aviation and Aerospace Week (ADAAW), UAE National Day celebrations, World Heritage Forum, and international and local concert and musical evenings performances under Abu Dhabi Classics and Bait al Oud Season. The campaign is supported by an extensive programme of online, print and outdoor advertising.

BEGIN VACATIONING BEFORE DEPARTING

BY BOOKING WITH A TRAVEL AGENT! Booking a trip can often be an extremely stressful and grueling undertaking. You can spend hours online searching for deals on flights and hotels, bouncing from one website to another in pursuit of the perfect price. This kind of process is often headache-inducing: approximately 20 percent of more than 2,000 travelers worldwide said it took them more than five hours to search and book travel online, according to a recent survey by the I.B.M. Institute for Business Value.

T

o avoid the hassle, many consumers are turning to travel agents. We sat down with Mohammed Abdullah Al Fahim at Safar Travel for some insight on the benefits of using a good agent.

Faced with countless choices for flights, hotels, car rental, and tours, some consumers are dumping the DIY approach. “There are simply too many travel products in the market today for individuals to decipher on their own, so having a guide to help you cut through all the different options available is a must!" "There's a difference between price and value," adds Mr. Al Fahim. The more travelers realize this, the higher the likelihood of engaging the services of a travel agent. Here are just a few reasons to consider booking your next vacation with a travel agent: Save time - An agent can save you time by vetting thousands of flight and hotel options to find the right fare at the lowest rate. "There's just a glut of information, and you need someone to make sense of it all," says Mohammed. “We have countless satisfied and loyal clients that used to spend hours surfing the internet before discovering how much easier, faster and more pleasant vacation planning became with the help of our qualified agents.” Save money -“Some people shy away from using a travel agent because they think they'll be charged extra for the agent's services. Some agents charge additional fees but most make their commission through the travel suppliers. Any good travel agency knows it's not about making the sale; it's about creating happy clients. Happy clients become fans of your company, come back to you every year and recommend your company to others. We rejoice when we can save our clients money with a great deal. We make our recommendations based on the specific needs and requests of our clients. We don't base our recommendations on industry sales incentives or bonus gifts. If we know of a better room or experience that will enhance our client's vacation, we'll suggest it but that's all. No pushing involved, we just do right by our clients.” Travel Agents Match Online Prices - “We do our best to find you the best deals available. If you do find a cheaper price online, let us know. 9 times out of 10 we can match or beat that price if you tell us about it. If we cannot beat it, we'll tell you why it's probably a scam and not a deal. You benefit by getting the best price and our great service.” Travel Agents Protect You - “Most DIY vacation planners don't realize that medical insurance usually

does not cover your family while on vacation out of area or especially overseas. A good travel agent will make sure you have the proper peace of mind with the right travel insurance to keep your family safe and protected.” Travel Agents Offer Affordable Payment Plans “Online booking websites normally require payment in full at the time you confirm your reservations. This means you could be paying huge credit card interest fees that will add to the total cost of your vacation in the long run. Many times, when you book with a travel agent you will only be required to pay a small deposit to confirm your family's vacation reservations. Final payment for your trip will usually be required 45 to 60 days prior to your departure. In many cases, a travel agent can set up a monthly vacation layaway program that could save you hundreds on credit card interest.” Travel Agents Work As Your Troubleshooter - “No matter how much you prepare, sometimes unexpected "stuff" happens while on vacation. When you book with a travel agent, they are with you every step of the way. If you run into any issues, your travel agent can make calls and usually fix the situation so you don't have to waste valuable vacation time problem solving. In the rare instance that you need to make a travel insurance claim or need to follow up on a complaint after you return home, your travel agent advocate continues to work on behalf of your family. We make sure any problems are solved to your satisfaction. For all your travel needs call

To do that, open Settings. Then right-click any icon you see there; once again, from the shortcut menu, choose “Pin to Start.” For what it’s worth, you can even add the Recycle Bin’s tile to your Start menu, too.

Tesla Software Update Adds Autopilot

Tesla Motors will release a software update tonight that activates an autonomous driving mode for newer-model vehicles. Tesla's 7.0 update will bring self-driving capabilities to the Model S and the company's brand-new Model X SUV (above), but Elon Musk today warned that this is still very much a beta product. As functionality improves, drivers should keep their hands on the wheel just in case. Autopilot does not, for example, currently take into account stop signs and red lights, but it can handle lane changes and driving down the highway.

Vacation Spots Around The World That Will Absolutely Give You

Nightmares

Anybody can take a vacation to somewhere exotic and peaceful. Anyone can travel to a white sandy beach and spend their days sipping on blended cocktails, watching the waves crash onto the beach, and soaking up a serious heap of UV rays. But doesn't that sound kind of meh - especially when you could be exploring one of these absolutely terrifying vacation destinations? Why spend your money and time on relaxation when you could be shrieking in terror at the sight of ghosts and broken doll heads, am I right?

T

here are several destinations around the world that are so damned scary, you'd think they were created as sets of horror films and then abandoned. But these spots were not made for movies. They certainly have the ability to inspire a horror flick or two, and haunt your dreams for weeks, but they were created by regular humans many years ago, usually following a tragic event or resulting in tragedy and then left standing. So, if you're looking for an unforgettable adventure that will leave you emotionally scarred and mentally baffled, check out these poop-your-pants terrifying vacation destinations. You will most definitely regret it.

1. Leap Castle, Ireland

Known as one of the most haunted buildings in the world, Leap Castle has not only had several tragic and bloody events occur within its walls, but it was also built on top of a torture pit. OH, and one of their resident spirits is called, The Elemental. *Cue chills and Goosebumps!

2. Ilha de Queimada Grande, aka Snake Island

So, you thought the island on LOST was scary with its Smoke Monster and constantly evolving magical powers? Well here's an island where you would never want to find yourself getting washed ashore. Why? Because it's filled with more than 4,000 snakes within its 110 acres. It's also the only home of the golden lancehead, a deadly species of viper whose venom is so potent, it can "melt human flesh," according to The Huffington Post.

3. Jacob's Well, Texas

A natural spring about 100-feet deep, Jacob's Well is a section of the nearby underground cave system and is incredibly dangerous. Eight divers have died while trying to explore the well's underwater depths. So, you have at least a few water ghosts to look forward to.

4. The Catacombs, Paris

The Catacombs is basically an underground boneyard with themed sections for different sections of the body. Meaning, there's a ribcage hallway, a separate section just for skulls, etc. It's certainly cool, but so, so creeptastic and weird.

my world

5. Centralia, Pennsylvania

Here's a fun little ghost town that'll haunt your dreams for all eternity. It used to be a mining town, but then an underground landfill caught on fire and didn't slow down once it reached the coal in the mines. Since the coal was dispersed beneath the entire town, the fire spread everywhere and created dangerous gas emissions and sinkholes all over the place. It's condemned and the underground fire is expected to burn for the next 100 years, at least.

6. Aokigahara Forest, Japan

Near the base of Mount Fuji in Japan, there's a haunted forest called the Sea of Trees. It's haunted because of the history of suicides that have taken place there. Apparently, it's a popular place for people to hang themselves from nooses tied to tree branches, and more than 70 people died there in one year alone. Also, because it's such a vast forest, police don't always locate the bodies, leaving hikers and visitors to discover them during a leisurely stroll.

7. Poveglia Island, Italy

The Romans just couldn't deal with plague victims - they didn't know what to do with them or how to dispose of their bodies once they died. Their solution was to send the thousands of surviving sufferers to Poveglia Island, off the coast of Venice, where they all died together. Then, a few centuries later, they did it again when the Bubonic plague hit. THEN in 1922, someone had the great idea to build a mental hospital on the island. The island remains uninhabited because, duh.

8. Hoia Baciu Forest, Romania

Any forest has the potential to turn into a creepy and terrifying setting for crime and bloodshed, but this one in Romania has the rep of being the most haunted forest in the world. It's known as the Bermuda Triangle of Romaniawith many reported ghost sightings, UFO sightings, and other unexplained events. And if you think you can enter with your phone and use it to call for help if needed, think again. It's very common for visitors' electronic devices to malfunction upon entering the forest.
