Weddings are Back
A
nother year of weddings where maybe it didn’t go as planned? Some couples have opted to elope. Some have had smaller celebrations, but as vaccines have become readily available and looser restrictions have been made on large gatherings, the
year of weddings is coming. 2022 is expected to be the biggest wedding year ever, with a 25% increase in numbers. The trends point to couples spending more on their wedding than ever before, even going the destination route, with vacation time being well overdue. Couples want to spend more time with their guests, spending up to seven days at their resort and booking activities, such as golf, spa, and sporting adventures. Couples who hold out on their special day want to party and celebrate in a big way and use the opportunity to expand their budgets on luxuries like rare flowers, specialty vendors, or unique experiences. Over the next year, it is going to be incredibly busy for the entire wedding industry. Many vendors have been hit hard during the pandemic, working limited hours and understaffed. At the same time, they are trying to complete all the events that were postponed from last year and keep up with new business they are currently booking. We are excited to see what 2022 brings. More intimate weddings with curated guest lists. Destination weddings with fun multi-day adventures planned for guests and more specialty vendors such as dueling pianos, live painters, and unique cocktail hour entertainment. Venues and vendors are in high demand, so you should prepare for higher costs. Be flexible and patient with your MICHAEL BUSH PHOTOGRAPHY
vendors. An experienced wedding planner is going to be your best friend; with tons of insider details, they can help guide you along your way. Wherever you choose to say your “I do,” The Southern Social vendors are here for you. Make sure to check out our vendor guide on page 141 for a complete list of the best wedding pros in North Texas.

The first step in the wedding invitation process is to narrow down an overall design aesthetic. This can be done by chatting with your stationer, browsing their gallery, looking at physical samples of their work, and discussing with them the look and theme of your wedding. Once the invitation design comes together to show off your desired look, the details come to play! The details are my favorite part of a design because they are small things that can make a significant impact and are a great way to add a personal touch! Imagine the excitement of getting the mail and seeing a bold envelope color with vintage postage stamps. I know

that gets me pumped for whatever is inside that envelope! You go to open it and come across a gorgeous custom wax seal. Upon opening the envelope, your eye is drawn towards a stunning envelope liner pattern that you discover perfectly matches the invitation suite inside. Maybe all of the pieces are in a pocketfold or held together by a ribbon or bellyband. It’s all of those small details that have come together to make this more than just a simple wedding invitation but a personalized invite to a special event in your life. So, when you are ready to begin working on your invitation design, absolutely take the time to focus on the different cards and the look of each, but don’t forget the small details too!

WAX SEALS Sealing wax comes in all different colors, and the stamps can be made with any design. It can be a gorgeous floral, a custom monogram, or even your wedding date that we use on the seals! The perfect personalized touch, the wax seal, can be used to close your envelope, hold together a ribbon, or just add a bit of color + dimension to your card.
H A N N AH WAY P HOTOGR AP HY
BELLYBANDS Whether it is made of paper or a luxurious ribbon, a band wrapped around the invitation will hold all of the cards together. Paper bands can be solid colors or printed with a pattern or personalized details. ENVELOPES Envelopes don’t need to be boring! Why not use this as a way to stand out and get your guests excited about your upcoming event. Colored envelopes are an easy way to get your invitation to pop in the mail. Postage stamps are a fun way to add a personal touch, whether it be stamps that match your interests and hobbies or a location that has a significant impact in your relationship; there are so many cool postage stamps options out there! Browse through the USPS website or look into vintage stamps to find the perfect addition. The last envelope step is to get a great envelope liner. This piece makes such a difference in the overall look of your invitations! Sometimes a solid color is best, but I am a lover of the bold envelope liner pattern.

ON THE C OV E R
Pazzo d’amore Text by KAT IE WA A RA , ON E FAT D OV E Photographs by CH UA L E E PH OT OGRA PH Y
Alex and Josh’s love story began on a train to Florence, Italy, to shop at San Lorenzo Market. While studying abroad, they were able to cultivate a colorful life-style full of exuberance and wine. As their love blossomed to a new chapter of for-ever, they knew their wedding needed to show their passion for picturesque architecture, vivid colors, and tantalizing catering. Butterflies were an absolute must, as Josh proposed at Citta’ delle Farfalle, known as the City of Butterflies. Flowers were a major factor in planning as they brought a lot of naturalism to their modernized Italianesque venue. Alex wanted everything to be cohesive with the colors. Still, she wanted a lot of asymmetric details of the ceremony arch, reception crown, and various arrangements at each table. Infusing Italian and American culture, guests could indulge in burgers and beers with a watermelon salad during cocktail hour as pasta fulfilled the main course. It was a fun filled evening of romance during the bistro and candlelight.

VENUE The couple chose Il Prato as the background for their stunning outdoor ceremony. By using our ivory cross-back chairs and placing them in a half circle, they were able to cultivate a beautifully intimate setting for their vows. Their reception was hosted underneath the twinkling lights on La Piazza D’Amore, with their head table being the center of attention. Surrounded by infinity fountains, climbing ivy, and a lot of Tuscan charm, these locations were the perfect intimate setting for the party of their dreams.

This editorial’s inspiration was pulled from many different directions. Staying true to an elevated design, I wanted to tastefully incorporate rich colors while also playing off the Lazy S Hacienda’s marfa charm. The design was minimalistic, focusing the attention on the blend of textures, colors, and patterns.

THE INVITATIONS & PAPER GOODS The stationery for this couple was made to play with different textures, as well as hard and soft design elements. We had wood boards for the seating display and leather on the place cards but then used a gorgeous script font to soften the look and create a more romantic feel. We loved the idea of not having to stick to one theme but still finding items that paired well together. We made sure this unexpected pair came through in each of the groupings - the invitation suite had both a cowboy envelope liner and a floral one. The table setting used leather accents paired with a beautiful dusty blue menu. The juxtaposition of the items is what created such an interesting wedding design. Erin, Sincerely, Addison

Mini Sweets, Major Treat How to Create your Own Mini Dessert Bar Text by A D RIE N N E GA RCIA Photographs by A L BA ROS E PH OT OGRA PH Y We know that your big day doesn’t always mean having a big cake. But that begs the question: What dessert will you serve your guests? Your answer: A selection of minis! While the desserts may be small, the design—and most importantly the taste—will both leave a lasting impression.
START WITH THE GOOD STUFF: CHOOSE YOUR DESSERTS! Any excuse to taste a few delicious treats is a good one, right? So have fun with it! This is where you get to express even more of who you are as a couple and pick out your favorites. Like specialty cocktails, you could choose a signature dessert that represents you. Did you ever crack into a crème brûlée together? Visit New Orleans and share beignets? Do you both love cheesecake? All food for thought… When it comes to minis, the more the merrier, but if you’re looking for guidance on how many sweets to choose, three is always a go-to number. That allows some variety for your guests, lets you pick your preferences, and helps with your budget. When you’re considering your choices, a nice gesture for your guests might be to include a gluten-free or nut-free treat for anyone with potential allergies. If you’re working with a caterer, it’s likely that they will provide you with a list of options—but don’t forget, you can ask to customize too. You might have a romantic aesthetic for your wedding and want to include macarons—ask which flavors might be off the menu if you don’t see what you were hoping for. You can also work with outside vendors to create the mini menu your heart desires. If you’re including a pared down cake for you and your groom to follow tradition, think about cupcakes for your guests in your cake’s flavor. If pie is more your taste,

DIVE INTO DECOR: DREAM UP YOUR DISPLAY Not only should your desserts taste delicious, but they should also be a feast for the eyes. This is another opportunity to incorporate details about you as a couple, lean into your decor aesthetic, and add a real wow factor for your guests. An amazing resource to help you decide on how to serve your desserts? Your wedding planner! If you don’t have an exact idea, lean on your planner or event designer to develop some inspiration and work with your venue to see what’s available. If you have a strong theme to your wedding or a venue with a specific aesthetic, that’s a great place to look for inspiration as well. Start with visualizing your space and where you might like to place your desserts and brainstorm from there. As for some immediate thought starters, we have a few ideas for you to consider. For a more modern venue, feature your minis in an architectural way, by setting them on acrylic shelves in varying heights. If your wedding has a European touch, étagère shelving brings together old-world enchantment and functional flow, making it easy for anyone to pick up a treat as they pass by. To indulge in even more indoor grandeur or outdoor whimsy, set up a long table with florals and runners with your mini desserts dispersed throughout to create a grazing display.
S S T X FEATU RE D P RO ||
3 9
FINISH WITH FINESSE: STYLE YOUR SETTING Once you’ve settled on how and where to display your little delights, put on the finishing touches. For a grazing table, work with your florist to choose greenery and flowers along with your wedding planner to pick plating that’ll make it pop. When it comes to additional romance on a table, you can incorporate your wedding colors with a variety of cake stands in different heights and styles. A tiered setting calls attention to the different selections you have and gives it visual depth that’ll add on to that sense of breathtaking style. Your different dessert choices can also play a part in how it all comes together with their different shapes and details—finished in glasses or served as petit four bites on a plate. Creating your own mini dessert bar is an excellent way to flex your creativity and give your guests an extra glimpse into your personality. And when you’ve decided on your all your delectable minis, you get the benefit of feeling accomplished (and satisfied!). Ah, the taste of sweet, sweet celebration.

Whitney and Tyler had initially planned their wedding for 150 of their guests. As the unknowns of the pandemic continued, a smaller event was designed for their close family & friends only. Since floral was something they loved incorporating into their outdoor event, the overall budget was adjusted to include larger pieces that could be repurposed in different parts of their event, which created unique photo vignettes along the way. They couple was able to save per person; specialty items like specialty glassware, customized menu cards, and live streaming services were added. Every event has its unique budget and priorities for the couple, and our team pride ourselves in delivering ways to maximize each. Whitney and Tyler’s intimate dinner was packed full of detail and lush floral, and the celebration was shared with all who were important to them, near and far.

CATTLE BRAND MONOGRAM Julianna and James decided to say “I Do” at the Hotel Drover in downtown Fort Worth, close to the famous Stockyards. The couple loved the idea of aligning with the styling of the hotel and creating a cattle-brand-style wedding monogram. The hotel’s front entrance is unique and iconic, so the couple elected to create a custom sketch of the venue to grace the envelope liner, and details insert. To soften the feel of the suite, Julianna and James decided on letterpress print and hand-deckled edges. A vellum band, silk ribbon, and copper wax seal bound the pieces together to package the suite. To top of the suite, the couple hand-selected vintage postage stamps that coordinated with P h otog ra p h e r & S tylist J U L IA N A M A RY

Valle de Ruega Spanish Intimate Wedding Text & Photographs by
AL B A R OSE PHOTOGR APH Y
The groom, Kallum’s parents immigrated from Spain and settled down in San Antonio. The weather and landscape reminded them of the beautiful countryside of Valle de Ruega, Santander located in the North of Spain. They found that San Antonio, Texas reminded them of their country in some ways because of the culture, architecture & history. It’s also because of this the family decided to open a restaurant that specializes in the cuisine of the region of Valle de Ruega. Kallum spent the majority of his growing up in between San Antonio and in Spain. When Kallum moved to Dallas, Texas to pursue his career in architecture degree he met and fell in love with Adelaide who was studying journalism. They both decided to find a location full of rich history and could envelop a few of his Spanish roots. The Spanish Mission was the perfect location to host their al fresco intimate ceremony and reception. Keeping in mind the beautiful textures and surroundings of the mission, Adelaide thought it would be a fantastic idea to incorporate modern touches and plenty of colors. Which can be seen in the use of chairs and of course the vibrant flowers. She wanted to be able to envelop a sense of regalness which is also why she added the perfect headpiece and cathedral veil to feel and look like a “Spanish Queen”.

FLORAL The inspiration for this design was based on the old Spanish architecture and the history the venue offers. We picked this location because it reminds the groom of his beautiful country. Based on the groom’s roots, we decided to have native Spanish beverages, food, and desserts, so guests can indulge not only in the food but also with a beautiful site. I decided on a monochromatic color palette using different shades of red. The venue has so much patina that I wanted to bring a few modern accents in the design as well. The mix of the old with the new is one of my favorite things to do and I love to see how beautiful everything comes together. Using modern chairs along with modern touches in the stationery, and the style and color of the blooms allowed us to bring the groom’s family heritage touches and the modern accents the bride loves as well. - Alex, Vella Nest Floral
PHOTOGRAPHY The mission was such a beautiful location, filled with wonder, history, and texture. The location was picked by the couple as a tribute to the groom’s heritage. This couple brought in so much of their own Spanish history and incorporated that into their wedding day. The vibrancy of the florals and overall design paired with the location made everything come to life. As a photographer, it’s always easy to be inspired by beauty and history. This intimate wedding had that and so much more. - Rosy, Alba Rose Photography

essica and Zach describe their wedding as elegant and romantic. Being that The Olana is French inspired, and the mother of the bride being born and raised in the south of France, naturally, The Olana was the perfect fit for their Parisian style wedding.
Unfortunately, due to Covid, the couple had to make the tough decision to postpone their wedding to keep everyone safe. There were many hoops to jump through, and it was a very stressful time, thankfully almost all her vendors were able to accommodate the new date of May 27, 2021. Because Jessica is a hairstylist and has done wedding hair for over 15 years, she knew exactly who she wanted to use. Jessica used to work for her florist in college, so it was extra special to have her create her dream design. Using all white flowers with gold accents, romantic candelabras, white trees, and lots of floating candles, and being that the venue is so beautiful on its own, it made it very easy to decorate without having to overdo it. The white acrylic dance floor pulls the entire room together with a custom gold monogram in the center, and it created a beautiful focal point. We had custom gold monogrammed napkins which looked perfect in the center of the plates and a string trio was a must have as it really set the tone of beauty and class to our wedding. Jessica had them play in her bridal suite before the ceremony and cocktail hour and it was a special moment for her and her bridesmaids.

“W
hen planning our wedding, the most important item on our list was that it needed to be convenient and that it needed to be fun. A one stop shop venue was what we were looking for and what we got with Hotel
Drover.” Says Michelle. A good band and open bar were their two other “must-have” items. Lucky for them, the other details fell into place without too much trouble. The Drover and the setting in the Stockyards set the theme for their wedding. They played into the “dressed up rustic” feel of the hotel. Michelle wore her Lucchese boots under her dress, and glow in the dark cowboy hats were given out later in the reception. Michelle didn’t put too much thought into the colors or style aside from the different hues of dusty blues in the bridesmaid dresses and pops of blues in the florals and cakes. They mainly had spring whites and greens. They lucked out with a perfect Texas spring day and beautiful weather. They had the ceremony on the turf lawn, followed by cocktail hour in the garden by the pool, and held the reception in the barn and the transitioned lawn. After the reception, the couple continued to celebrate with family and friends at the hotel. “Even though most guests were from the surrounding areas, many opted for a weekend stay at the newly opened Hotel Drover, so it felt like we got the best of both worlds with an in-town destination wedding. We’d do the whole weekend over again and again if we could!” Says Michelle.

hile first planning their wedding, Michellann had her heart set on her style being boho glam, using neutral colors, dried flowers, and lots of pampas. The venue they originally picked matched that vision, but when the pandemic hit, they decided
to postpone their big day and get married through the courts in August of 2020. Due to the postponement, their original venue choice was no longer available for the new wedding date. Fortunately, they came across the French Farmhouse. Although the venue was not yet complete, Michelle, the owner, walked the couple through the entire property describing her vision & they instantly fell in love. Her vision of a romantic French Chateau vibe completely changed Michellann’s idea of style. When working with Morgan, her wedding planner, and Elise, her florist, she asked if they would hate her for completely changing everything, but of course, they were amazing and on board! The couple’s vision was ethereal and romantic but also timeless and classical. When it came to florals, she told Elise that she wanted vibrant colors that included a variety of pinks and roses. They filled the space with votive candles to light the venue at night. “Morgan & Elise worked so well together and truly made my wedding a dream come true. Hannah Hix, my photographer, ultimately captured our night beautifully with her talented editorial style.” – Michellann

ndee and Stephanie’s wedding was a mix of modern elegance and a luxury beach getaway. They loved the idea of their entire wedding day being outside in the cool Tulum beach breeze. The theme was
centered around roses as their last name is Rosales, which translates to rose bush in Spanish. So, an array of roses was a big focus throughout the day. The color scheme was a combination of whites, rose gold, and hints of peach, which matched beautifully with the ocean, palm trees, and beach sands. Overall, they wanted to host a wedding day that would be fun, unforgettable, and one of a kind. BEAUTY I had the pleasure of working with Andee at Mac cosmetics. We loved playing in makeup daily and coming up with new looks! Andee was newly dating Steph, and I knew these two were meant for each other. Andee called me in a major panic about five days before the wedding date. She asked if I could come to Tulum, Mexico, that weekend and do her makeup for the wedding! I frantically made several phone calls and booked a flight that evening. Being there to witness the love these two have for each other and all the support they had was truly life-changing. It was an honor to be a part of this gorgeous wedding, and I am forever grateful for the amazing opportunity. - Lydia Luxe Beauty

fter meeting at the age of five in their kindergarten class, Chad and Avery became close friends throughout middle and high school, dated throughout their time at the University of Texas, and strengthened their relationship in the nearly three years they spent long-distance after graduating. Finally back together, they dreamed of planning a big celebration in their hometown of Dallas. Over
the course of the pandemic, as they planned (and un-planned and re-planned) their wedding, they decided the “theme” of their wedding would be simple: celebrating lifelong friendships and the people who supported them all these years. So, they decided to work with vendors who felt like family and friends, too. Avery found her dream dress at a north Dallas bridal salon owned by two of the couple’s beloved high school teachers, and the guys’ getup all came from a tuxedo shop owned by the family of one of the ushers in the wedding. They said their vows in the same church where Avery’s parents and grandparents had been married -- after a beautiful rehearsal dinner the night before at the venue where Chad’s parents had held their own wedding reception. As a news reporter, it was important to Avery to pick a photographer with an eye for capturing real, unfiltered and honest moments (enter Grant Daniels Photography) and to pick a venue with history (the iconic Adolphus Hotel in Downtown Dallas). Choosing a videographer was easy—before Bess Ophelia Films had ever been launched, back in high school, Avery had told Bess she would be filming her wedding. Their incredible florist and planner filled the ballroom with their chosen colors: blue, white and gold. However, the people who know Chad and Avery well knew the night wouldn’t have been complete without a full dance floor and a live band. Their recommendation to other couples? Pick vendors who are or who become lifelong friends. Oh, and crowd-surf at the reception. You won’t regret it.

VIDEOGRAPHY I went to high school with Avery and Chad; they are the ultimate high school sweethearts, so seeing their names appear in my inbox was a freaking dream come true. These are two of the most heartfelt, joyful, and genuine people I’ve ever met, and telling their story has been one of the high points of my career. I can’t watch this video without getting choked up because it’s so evident that everyone in their lives cares so deeply for them. They pour into others ceaselessly and selflessly, bringing happiness wherever they go, and their wedding was such a beautiful reflection of that. Avery and Chad, filming your wedding was a gift, and I love you both so dang much. - Bess Ophelia Films

hen Eliza and Tyler sat down to plan their big day, Eliza never pictured a ball gown dress or extravagant crystal chandeliers. She wanted their wedding to feel like them and compliment their everyday style. Eliza
struggled to find the perfect venue to suit their boho, garden, eclectic vibe they were going for until they found the Garden Room. “The space didn’t force me to choose from cookie cutter themes but allowed me to be creative.” Says Eliza. She wanted the flowers to feel like an extension of the existing greenery and the table decor to feel just perfectly mismatched. “We were lucky to find incredible vendors across NWA that had the perfect rentals to bring my vision to life, and it truly felt like something out of a magazine.”

ollowing a romantic marriage proposal at the Gaylord Texan Resort in Grapevine, Texas, Israel and India set their hearts on an elegant wedding fit for royalty. In the beginning stages of planning, the couple considered a destination wedding to say their “I do’s; However, they realized they wanted all their family and friends in attendance and chose to say their nuptials at Hillside Estates.
“We both come from big families. He comes from a family of six, and I come from a family of seven. We are very loved and well known within our own social circles. We wanted to make sure to share this spiritual and sacred moment with people who have invested in us throughout the years.” India explains. The couple met in December 2017 at a meet and greet event and have been inseparable ever since. Through the dating phase, they noticed they had so many things in common. Both were raised within Christian homes, work in the accounting field, and were born in May. They made sure that these similarities were incorporated into the details of their wedding. The wedding was nothing short of elegance. The couple’s birthstone color, emerald green, was the primary color of choice. Ivory, gold, and champagne served as perfect accent colors to bring the theme together. The venue was adorned with luxurious floral arrangements from the Chapel to the reception hall. India and Israel had a spirit-filled ceremony as prayers and consecrations went forth to cover them on their journey of marriage. The reception was filled with laughter, love, dancing, and happy tears while tributes and speeches were given. Some guests went away saying this was the wedding of the century.

he minute we walked into D’Vine Grace, we knew that it was our dream venue. Even without decor, it had an elegance and grace about it that felt special plus met what our vision was for the wedding-
something bright, classic, and timeless.” Says Maxine. The couple wanted a picturesque venue with endless photo opportunities and space for their guests to mingle. With their wedding in July, they hung greenery throughout the venue and chose a dusty blue and light yellow to match the vibrancy of summer colors yet still keep things airy and bright. They included many details and souvenirs for their guests, such as a boba truck, temporary tattoos, and a photobooth to make it a unique and memorable day for all their guests that came to celebrate with them. Their wedding was initially postponed due to their initial venue going bankrupt and the pandemic putting everything to a halt. It had allowed Maxine and Tristan to replan their wedding, which is how they came across D’Vine Grace. “We truly felt like it was meant to be the place we celebrated our wedding and are still on cloud nine over what a perfect day it was for us!”

VENUE When Tristan and Maxine first came to D’Vine Grace, they had already been through a lot with their wedding planning adventure. After their first venue closed and their original date was booked seemingly everywhere, they had to make the difficult decision to postpone even further - into July 2021. Watching them light up at every turn throughout the tour was magical, and we were thrilled that the wedding planning spark was reignited once their date was booked at DGV. Seeing everything come together on this long-awaited day was such a privilege, and the vineyards, lush greenery, and stunning ballroom were the perfect backdrops to a truly perfect day. -Kayley, D’Vine Grace Vineyard

s a wedding planner myself, designing the perfect wedding was challenging given the exposure to the industry. Our wedding design consisted of classic touches embracing romance and tying in important pieces of our story together. One
of the most memorable parts of our wedding day design was incorporating a London telephone booth for our seating chart. This design element was made to celebrate our engagement in London.

INVITATIONS Morgan and Nik’s stationery design centered around a simple, delicate greenery wreath monogram. Their monogram was used throughout the wedding starting with the invitation, including pieces such as the thank you’s and even gracing details such as the cake and lounge pieces. The couple wanted a romantic feel, so they chose a cotton paper with hand-deckled edges, packaged the suite in vellum and closed it with a wax seal. For their wedding day pieces, they used blush silk ribbon with their thank you’s and place cards. - Hazelwood Paper Co

BAR SERVICE It was a beautiful day for Morgan and Nick’s big day, and we were honored to be chosen to be a part of it by serving drinks for them and their guests. The couple provided their own alcohol, and we offered a mixer package along with mixers for their signature cocktail. The package includes garnishes, cups, napkins, ice, straws, and coolers. Their signature cocktail, one of their favorite drinks- mojito’s, turned out lovely and were enjoyed by the guests during cocktail hour and the rest of the night. oing into wedding planning her wedding, Jaclyn had only a vague idea of what she wanted her wedding to look like. Moody but modern with white, black, and metallic accents. She also knew she wanted everyone on
the dance floor all night, so disco balls were a must! Artisan Rose organized the scattered ideas of Jaclyn’s design. The couple was wowed with Justine and her disco ball installations and raised centerpieces with mini disco balls. Adding texture with dried flowers, like pampas grass and palm leaves, brought a modern earthy vibe to balance out the shimmering metallics. The industrial but glamorous setting of The Ostreum was the perfect backdrop for this vision to come to life.
“I wanted the freedom to stray from tradition to ensure the night felt like us, so we added a lot of personal touches. We wrote our own vows, both of us including quotes from our favorite movies, TV shows, and songs. Additionally, I’m a huge Taylor Swift fan, so instead of table numbers, each table was named after a different song of hers, with our table, of course, being named Lover. It was the perfect night!” – Jaclyn

THE VENUE Jaclyn & Kyle first visited The Ostreum while the venue was still technically under renovations and before any weddings had taken place. She wanted a venue close to Downtown Fort Worth that felt vintage and charming but still moody and glamorous. They loved the speakeasy vibes of the venue, and all the attention to detail, starting from the knobs on the door and the wallpaper in the foyer to the amazing styling in the bridal suite and groom’s room; and even the bits and baubles in the restrooms! They could see their guests loving these details as much as they did. The distressed white brick and dark wood beams made such a striking statement in our open space that she didn’t feel that over-the-top decor was needed to make the space beautiful. Her colors were black, white, and metallics and the glamorous but industrial setting of The Ostreum was perfect for her color scheme. She incorporated disco balls in the decor, and they worked beautifully with the aesthetics of the venue.

CUSTOM GOWNS When designing the gowns for both mothers, bows and pink were the cohesive element. Annie’s mother wore a custom silk gown with a delicate bow tying at the back of her neck. Over thirty hand-made organza flowers adorned her gown. Alex’s mother wore an elegant custom gown in a bold bubblegum pink. Hand cut silk organza flowers enhanced the organza drape at the bodice, which flowed into an over the shoulder bow. To incorporate these aspects into the bridesmaid dresses, tulle was draped onto the bodice and flowed into bows. The ties were embellished with the same delicate flowers on Annie’s veil.

hen Kaley and Andrew got engaged, neither of them had strong feelings about the style of wedding they wanted. Their first goal was finding a venue and determining the style based on that. “The White
Sparrow is such a great venue because you can do anything you want style-wise, and it will look beautiful because the venue has been so artfully designed.” Says, Kaley. If she had to describe their theme, she would call it refined Texas summer. Neither Andrew nor Kaley are drawn to glam over-the-top or a traditional style, but they wanted to maintain a level of elegance to the day. Since they were planning a summer wedding, Andrew opted to wear a navy suit instead of the traditional black tuxedo. From there, the rest seemed to come together effortlessly. Shades of pink, orange, yellow, and even a little purple paid homage to Texas wildflowers while also adding a pop of color to the white-washed interior of The White Sparrow. Both Andrew and Kaley graduated from UT Austin; they incorporated some orange into the color scheme, a subtle nod to their Alma Mater. When designing their wedding day, the most important thing was making sure the decisions felt true to them as a couple.

PHOTOGRAPHY Amy + Adam’s nuptials was an event that was long awaited. They’ve been planning for a year and a half. Like many other couples, their wedding was affected by Covid, and they had to reschedule. That didn’t differ the couple from putting a lot of thoughtful details for their wedding day, though. If anything, it added more value and sentimental meanings to them both. Amy wore her mother’s pearl necklace as her something borrowed, and their cake topper, as their something old, was from Adam’s grandmother. The inspiration for their rustic yet elegant wedding was French Country, and it was executed beautifully. - Chua Lee Photography

azy S Hacienda was the first and only venue we visited, and we knew right away that there was something special here!” Says bride Phoebe. They also knew that they wanted Megan to be their photographer
from the start. “Not only is she incredibly talented in what she does, but she was so patient and understanding throughout the entire process.” Phoebe and Mackenzie had a spring wedding, and they wanted to achieve a more light and airy look, so they went with blush ranunculus and a fog blue color for her bridesmaid dresses. Their invitation suite reflected a similar color palette. The couple chose to do navy Talavera tiles for the name placements and guest gifts as a tribute to the theme of the venue but also a sweet way of adding personal touches for each of their honored guests. Phoebe and Mackenzie served tacos catered by Del Norte Catering, “Seriously, the BEST tacos we’ve had, and they are a local family-owned business!” In keeping with the theme, they also had a margarita machine, as it really wouldn’t be a Tex-Mex wedding without margs, right?

n determining our wedding style, the most important thing was our venue. While I knew I wanted to have a more formal dinner than dining alfresco would have permitted, I also wanted to get married in a natural
setting.” Says Amanda. They considered their guest’s convenience by having the ceremony and reception in one location not too far from downtown, and Amanda kept Chris’ non-negotiable terms on food quality. Amanda was thrilled when they found Marie-Gabrielle with its expansive lush garden and beautiful indoor dining space. From there, the other elements were about complimenting rather than competing with the beauty of the space. They kept the color scheme simple with a lot of whites, light pinks, and hints of blue to nod to the season, Spring. Other design elements mixed modern gold such as our place cards, wedding arch, and cake topper with rustic items such as our guest book table, champagne seating chart (Cheers!), and bar, along with pops of wow such as the light up letters and tete-a-tete. In the end, thanks to their wonderful vendor team, it was a beautiful day that perfectly blended their styles and personalities as they celebrated with friends and family.

or Christina and Lance, their love of Sunday Brunch, Texas Sunsets, and their family and friends were what helped draw their inspiration for their wedding. Christina and Lance kept their wedding intentionally intimate with only their three children in their
wedding and 54 guests, creating the feeling of intimate elegance throughout the event. The weekend started with a welcome reception at the couple’s home, in true Texas Chic style. Guests were greeted with signature cocktails by the pool with a beautiful spread of smoked tenderloin and turkey along with some Texas favorites like mini fried peach pies and mini-Dr. Pepper Floats for dessert. The evening was the perfect start to the weekend with the entertainment by country music singer Christopher Wright. Sunday, at 12:00 in the afternoon, the couple hosted their wedding at the Westin Stonebriar in Frisco, Texas, with an outdoor ceremony and tented reception. Guests were greeted with hand passed champagne or signature specialty coffees as they arrived. The chinoiseriethemed décor was a showstopper with shades of blue and white with mixed metal elements incorporated throughout the tent. The florals for the wedding were stunning, with a mix of white cherry blossom trees and roses, tulips, and hydrangeas. Guests danced the afternoon away to the incredible Man-hattan Band and enjoyed a beautifully plated brunch starting with personalized charcuterie boards and ending with petite fours, macaroons, and, of course, wedding cake! Guests departed with their special gift of a Veuve Cliquot Candle, the bride’s favorite champagne. This event was high on style with personalized elements throughout, which created a weekend to remember for the couple and their guests!

eanna and Justin were married in the spring at The Ostreum, the old Macaroni Factory, remodeled in an art deco and industrial style. The couple wanted to stay with that theme of the venue, so they chose the
‘20s using decorations and art deco pieces to make everything come together. Leanna wanted warm colors for their accents, rust and blush, and warm fabrics like velvet. She wanted their wedding to feel like an intimate, hazy, candlelit dream, and with the help of their amazing vendors, they accomplished that so. “It was the best start to our lives together, and we’re so blessed to have been surrounded with friends and family to celebrate our marriage under God.” Says Leanna.

he look of the wedding began with beer. Specifically, hops. The bride loved the idea of a hop-infused celebration that was laid-back but still elegant. Without getting too thematic, we knew beer would be a key player. I studied hops and how
beer is made and took inspiration from there. Their monogram featured line-drawn hops, and in addition to gracing the stationery, it was also etched into beer glasses given to guests as they arrived at the reception. Since hops grow on trellises, we built a metal structure covered with the plant and other greenery, and affixed bottle openers also customized with the monogram that doubled as favors and escort cards (thanks to a die-cut hops card with guests’ names and table numbers). Hops, in artistic variations and actuality, were layered throughout the wedding without being overdone. To brighten and soften up the industrial look of the venue, we worked with a color palette of blues, burgundies, and purples, using hints of black and wood tones to keep it modern. Julie loves orchids, so we made sure to include those in her bouquet and the reception centerpieces. The ceremony was a celebration of color and a focal point of the day. It took place amidst an organic installation of vibrant flowers that gave guests their first taste of how the location would be transformed. At the reception, the raw space was dressed with greenery, and an indoor beer garden was created—its mix of low and high cocktail tables served as an area for guests to grab a pint and mingle.” - Shannon Rose Events

INVITATIONS & MONOGRAM Their invitation suite featured a modern, minimal design, black letterpress, and blind embossed beer hop tied around the suite with a leather cord. The guests found their seats with a hanging escort display featuring beer openers with engraved monograms, which also served as their wedding favor, and diecut beer hop-shaped escort cards. The couple also used the monogram on beer glasses, a cutting board their guests signed as their guest book, and cocktail napkins. The signage for the event was black with white lettering, and the menu featured delicate place cards tied with leather cord and beer hops peeking out of the corner, keeping the design cohesive from start to finish. -Kristin, Hazelwood Paper Co.

arah & Keaton wanted a wedding that not only fit their style, but that felt personal. They chose natural Texas elements and florals to fit the rustic-chic style the couple has, along with shades of blush, mauve, and
sage green as the color palette. The modern and rustic barn, Swallows Eve, in Fredericksburg was a perfect backdrop for their romantic style.

he theme for Raquel and Timothy’s wedding was timeless romance and centered around timeless traditions and pieces. They used colors of ivory, gold, and pops of cerulean and dusty blue. The floral arrangements
combined soft white and green colors for the perfect nostalgic classic wedding presentation. The band, alongside the venue, set the perfect ambiance as Frank Sinatra’s classics played throughout the night. Raquel and Timothy are both are fond of Disney’s classic “happily ever afters,” the couple brought in slight elegant hints of Disney throughout the night, Tim’s cuff links, UP grape soda button, and their cake topper.

atherine and Trevor wanted their wedding day to be full of firsts and an overall unforgettable experience. Surrounded by their friends and family enjoying each other’s company, they aimed to create lasting memories. “I would define our
wedding as a classic romance rooted in tradition with white florals, greenery, and hints of blue.” Says Katherine. They wanted the atmosphere not too casual but not too formal. In addition, they wanted their guests to feel comfortable and enjoy a day full of happiness and love. “From the ceremony to the reception to ending the night with a sparkler send-off, the entire day felt timeless and was an experience we will cherish forever.”

We would not have such an incredible event without the hard work and talents of our pros. I want to say thank you and give credit to all the amazing vendors that have made this event possible. First off, to the amazing Stephanie Evans, with Wedding Event Design, she did a phenomenal job planning and designing this event for us, and I cannot thank her enough. She really took a load off my plate, and never once did I freak out about something; she took care of it all! It’s so great to work with a good planner! Thank
