Peeling Back the Sticker Shock written by | ADRIENNE WHITE p h o t o s b y | K A LY N S H A E P H O T O G R A P H Y

As a new bride-to-be, I was so thrilled to start planning my wedding. After a bit of research, I thought I had a handle on where to find a picturesque venue and how to set my budget. I was ready to dive into the details. But with little knowledge of the wedding industry, I faced what every bright-eyed Future Mrs. faces—sticker shock. My chest fluttering, I'd try to keep my face calm as vendors would list their prices along with minimum fees I didn't see coming. "Act naturally, don't panic," I'd think to myself, knowing my expressions are quite easy to read. As I quickly made calculations in my head, adding up the total number, I'd start to feel very overwhelmed. And I'm not alone. After talking to experts Elizabeth Novoa and Alexa Mason, the dynamic mother-daughter duo behind Alexa Elizabeth Designs, a full-service event design, planning, and styling company, I learned that sticker shock is all too common. They shared that many women like me think they have an idea of what a venue, catering, or florals might cost and find their jaw dropping when a vendor quotes a very different price. Looking back I wish someone had told me what to be prepared for and where to budget my money. So in order to save you from some of the sticker shock and stress I experienced, Novoa and Mason helped me create three different budget breakdowns. Here is your quick guide to planning your best day ever with $20,000, $30,000, or $40,000 for 100 to 130 guests. Pro Tip: Budget an extra $350 to $1000 or more for catering, florals, and rentals to cover delivery, set up, servers, and other service fees.

$20,000

$30,000

$40,000

VENUE $4,000 - $5,000

VENUE $6,500 - $7,500

VENUE $9,000 - $11,000

CATERING $3,000 - $4,000

CATERING $4,500 - $5,500

CATERING $5,500 - $6,500

FLORAL $2,000 - $3,000

FLORAL $3,300 - $4,300

FLORAL $5,500 - $6,500

RENTALS $1,000 - $2,000

RENTALS $2,000 - $3,000

RENTALS $3,000 - $4,000

PHOTOGRAPHY $2,000 - $3,000

PHOTOGRAPHY $3,000 - $4,000

PHOTOGRAPHY $4,000 - $5,000

|| # T H E S O U T H E R N S O C I A L T X

Now that you’ve seen the numbers, Novoa and Mason have five top pieces of advice for you as you start planning: 1. “Your day should be a reflection of you. We’ve seen too many brides get caught up in trying to please everyone else, but your guests will connect more if they can see the thought you put into it. When you look back on this day 10 years later, you will want to say, “That day was US!” 2. “Know what you value most! This is a general guide, but all of these numbers can shift. If you are on $20,000 budget, and you’ve always dreamed of lush florals at your wedding, you can spend more on that category and save on rentals or catering.” 3. “Don’t be afraid to tell vendors your budget. Brides worry they will be taken advantage of, but if a vendor is asking about numbers, it’s usually for the opposite reason. Unless you come in below their minimum, they can offer a variety of options like different materials at varying price points to create the look you want within your price range.” 4. “Carefully read all of your contracts to understand what’s included. For example, is setup included or are you purely paying for delivery? Are war ming boxes included in your catering quote, or are those separate? Things like this may seem small, but they are critical to your day running smoothly. Which brings us to our fifth tip…” 5. “When possible, hire a wedding planner. They can help you find the best vendors, prioritize what matters most to you, keep you on budget, look over contracts, and of course, be there on the day of. They make sure everything runs smoothly, so you can sit back and enjoy your day.” Bride to bride, here’s how I have navigated some of my own stress. Whatever you think something might cost, double it. This has helped me set better expectations and be pleasantly surprised if a quote comes in lower than I thought. That said, ask about minimum fees. Venues have them, caterers have them, any of your vendors could require a minimum that bumps up your cost. Before you visit a venue in person, know that a $4,000 ceremony and reception site you found online might turn into a $16,000 location with a catering minimum. Last but not least, find out about delivery and setup costs. Your vendors might offer pickup and return options that will help you save. And at the end of the day, don’t forget to have fun! Here’s to happy stress-free planning, my fellow brides!

Planner UP: DFW’S MUST HAVE WEDDING PLANNERS

01. ALEXA KAY EVENTS

02. ALEXA ELIZABETH DESIGNS

03. EVENTS BY JADE

04. J. SCOTT EVENTS

I’m Alexa and I have a passion for details, creating magical experiences and seamless event execution. In addition to the proactive planning, I’m always willing to roll up my sleeves, and do whatever it takes to ensure that my couples are stressfree and excited for their special day. I’m also especially good at tapping into my creative side and designing the perfect elements to match my client’s vision.

Hey there! We are Alexa and Elizabeth: a mother-daughter (best friend) team obsessed with creating beautiful spaces. We got our start putting looks together for friends and family, then we styled a wedding and couldn’t get enough. We dove in head-first and have been loving every second of it since.

I graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree in Psychology and a minor in Business. My degree taught me about building relationships and the importance of staying organized in all life’s moments. After all, the magic is in the details.

I have always been a planner since the time I was a little girl – from religiously setting out every last piece of my outfit down to the socks I would wear the next morning. Previously to being a wedding planner, I was an event planner for a hospital, several non-profit organizations, and also ended up in a marketing managers position for a company in Dallas. There was a relentless passion I could not switch off and that drove me to get busy on becoming my own boss for good.

Planning a wedding is a lot like getting ready for a jury trial: Both are large, extremely important projects full of differing personalities, service providers, many important deadlines and they can cost a lot of money! You have one shot at making something perfect!!!! The logistical approach is similar but people LOVE getting married and HATE being involved In a trial! After years of planning “destination trials,” the move to weddings has been a wonderfully fulfilling change.

With a few hiccups along the way with my boy/girl set of twins arriving at 30 weeks to the day early, this was a time that allowed me to dive into my business. My sweet babies were in the NICU for 70days where there were certain times you could visit and lots of time you could not. It was an outlet for me to finally do what I was most passionate about and those babies were fueling every bit of my drive to make it as a successful wedding planner.

The weddings we plan and coordinate are as unique as our couples - no two are alike and we don’t want them to be. We love incorporating special details from our couples individually and creating something new and exciting. Through the process, clients become like family and we strive to produce the type of wedding we would for a daughter, son, brother or sister.

When I’m not planning weddings, I’m probably either playing with my two energetic Aussie pups or playing soccer with my husband! I enjoy spending time outside and try to every chance I get!

We work hard to make each space we style uniquely gorgeous. Details are SO important to us – we believe it’s the details that take you from event to experience. One of our favorite parts of what we do is connecting with our clients. We aim to make a difference in their lives by creating an experience they’ll never forget. Jesus has brought our family through a lot and we are so thankful for His faithfulness. It is our hope that the love and beauty He has shown us shines in all we create.

Jaime Webber is the forerunner of all designs & owner of The Floral Bar. With 20+ years of growth & wisdom, learning from some of the best in the business from coast to coast, creating with color and texture comes natural. The heart and soul behind The Floral Bar is rooted in community. A need for a custom, independent designer was a “must have” for the DFW community of Roanoke/Southlake. With experience comes knowledge, and teaching other creatives was a foundational concept in bringing The Floral Bar to life. Monthly gatherings called “Craft Nights” started with just a few close friends (and a side of wine) creating arrangements but quickly she realized where one or more are gathered, something beautiful happens.

5 REASONS WHY YOU WANT YOUR VENDORS DOING STYLED SHOOTS!

1

You get to see the latest and greatest ideas. When vendors design a styled photo shoot they are typically using it as a way to showcase something new, something unique or something exciting. Once an idea hits Pinterest you know it’s going to be copied a million times. If you want something different, something that none of your guests have seen yet, then look for vendors that are using styled shoots as a way to show off the newest wedding trends.

2

Your vendors get to do what they do best ... create! Most wedding vendors got into the wedding industry because they were artists who wanted to be creative. Styled shoots give them the chance to do just that. When they aren’t creating for someone else’s vision, they are free to use their imagination and try things that brides might not think of on their own.

3

See how vendors work together. If you want a ‘done for you’ wedding team then look no further than the team that designed that perfect styled shoot you see in the pages of this magazine. Hiring a vendor team that works well together will ensure that your vision comes to life perfectly.

4

Helps vendors prepare for the unexpected. Nothing ever seems to go as planned, but you don’t want your vendors to figure that out on your wedding day. Styled shoots are like a trial run for your big day. It allows vendors to work out the kinks in their latest creations before offering it as on option for your big day. Think of styled shoots like a ‘wedding day’ trial run for your vendor team.

5

Styled but still real. A lot of work goes into planning a styled shoot, but that doesn’t mean everything is perfect. Many styled shoot models are real couples that need to be told what to do and how to pose. There are weather issues to deal with or location factors to consider. So while the vision and details might have been styled, the finished product is most definitely a real representation of what the vendors are capable of. While styled shoots are a great way for vendors to show off their skills, you also want to make sure that any vendor your hire for your wedding day has a good mix of styled and real wedding images in their portfolio. Don’t be afraid to ask if the images they show you are from a real wedding or a styled shoot.

”This styled shoot was inspired by the South Texas town of Marfa. I love how the town mixes modern art with the rawness of the southwest desert and wanted to show brides that you can bring all the beauty of a desert sunset to the big city for your special day. To bring the vision to life we use natural florals in the bouquets and centerpieces, raw materials in the lounge area, custom drinks and perfectly styled invitations. The textures in the stunning bridal gown reflects the dessert sand while the sleek reception jumpsuit allows you to dance the night away under the stars. It all came together perfectly against the backdrop of the stunning Texican Court venue.”

“This styled shoot includes the most feminine of touches. As some would say “it’s all in the details”, and we feel this shoot is filled to the brim with them. Shades of blue, subtle grey hues and hints of ivory portray a playful and beguiling theme that grabs the attention of any hopeless romantic. The colors might make you think “something blue”, but these textures and florals proclaim

something classic.” - Abbie, The Southern Social

“With a team full of creative vendors with big ideas, we knew we had to go all out on this editorial shoot. Our big vision was to create something that strayed away from tradition. We want brides to see how beautiful it can be to break some traditions in their design concepts to create a look as unique as them. By picking bright yellows, oranges, and pinks, we were able to showcase that bright colors don’t have to be an accent. They should be the statement piece. We believe that brides often get scared to use too much color, but we wanted to show them it can be done in a fun and beautiful way. Color is our friend,

“The theme for this styled shoot was inspired by historic downtown Fort and intimate feel of the Ashton Hotel. The rich tones of fall were perfect to showcase the intimacy of the wine cellar. Wedding Stone’s design was absolutely perfect with the high rise table scape, the variety of floral textures and moody tones of the floral arrangements, tied in beautifully with the candlelit design, including a cappuccino palette with a hint of marsala. Michael & Rhi Photography were a perfect fit for the dark, moody and romantic setting of the Ashton Hotel.” - Wedding Stone

“When I started designing this romantic styled shoot, I had in mind an elegant and feminine setting. I chose elements that reflect not only my airy floral design style but also my love for old world accents with soft edges. I wasn’t afraid of mixing the modern style of the ghost acrylic chairs with the vintage French mirrors, and old mix matched vintage candle holders and the European inspired scalps plates. I also used a velvet table linen and I added a few layers of linen table runners. Mixing all these elements together made the setting more intimate and cozier. I added a dessert bar with a small 2-tier

“Modern and slightly edgy while still romantic and boldly whimsical: that was our vision for this shoot. We wanted to design something that was slightly off-beat every step of the way but stayed true to the romantic nature of a wedding. We mixed light and bright pinks, peaches, oranges, and golds with unexpected materials like velvet, gauze, and rattan to give the table an eclectic feel. A stunning organic floral install hung playfully above the table and balanced beautifully with the single stems in bud vases peeking out from in between an array of mixed candle holders. Our bride was striking in the Elora by Madi Lane, an off-the-shoulder gown that echoed all of the other free-spirited elements. Her hair was styled in a perfectly tousled half-up bun with braids and her makeup was fresh and youthful with soft orangey-pinks. Watercolor pink hand-torn stationary was adorned with gold calligraphy and pink wax seals. The cake was wrapped in delicate pink ruffles and white edible leaves climbed whimsically up one side. Light and airy photography perfectly captured the dreamy tone of this shoot. Every element was intricately curated

Society of Wedding Professional is a Dallas/Fort Worth based nonprofit association that is locally operated and looks forward to giving back to our community. The mission of SWP is to be a cultivated association that supports and fosters professionalism through networking for the welfare and betterment of the wedding and overall event industry. The Wedding Wish was established by the 2018 SWP Board of Directors. The mission of The Wedding Wish is for SWP to come together as one team for the sole purpose of granting a couple in need the dream wedding that can not obtain through unforeseen and uncontrolled circumstances. Our first Wedding Wish took place on January 20, 2019 with our beautiful couple, Nikitia & Fred!

In 2010 my husband & I said 'I do' on the beaches of Key West, Florida surrounded by our closest family and friends. Our photographer was there to capture the special event, and after our wedding we received a CD of all our digital images. We printed off a handful to frame in our home, then tucked the CD safely away in a drawer with the intention of creating an album "someday". Almost 10 years, 3 moves and 2 kids later...that CD of images is nowhere to be found. No album was made, and all that remains of our wedding day memories is a handful of images. I believe that your images are works of art that deserve to live in print where they can be admired, appreciated and enjoyed, instead of forgotten in a computer file. My goal as your wedding photographer is to provide you with tangible reminders of your special day with wall art & albums that will become family heirlooms for your children and grandchildren. Blau, The Ostreum is the sister (not twin) of BRIK Venue in Fort Worth. The name Ostreum is the latin term for “oyster”. Chosen for the decadence associated with oysters and the idea that beauty is held within an unassuming exterior, the name fits the venue. The speakeasy concept comes into play here as well. The venue itself was previously a warehouse portion of the O.B. Macaroni Factory established in the early 1900s. The original red cedar columns and rafters remain in the venue, as well as the exposed brick walls. The overall romantic, art deco style plays throughout the updated space.

It is the year 2020 and the look for men has changed for the better. This season we predict something more individual, full of personality and gusto. Keep your eyes peeled for less form fitting cuts, prints and colors, and for goodness sakes no more three piece ensembles… those waistcoats are ever so tired. Still not sure what to look for? Our team at The Southern Social took the liberty of gathering some phenomenal examples from Dallas’ own Don Morphy for your reference and enjoyment.

DFW BARTENDING

// ASK THE PROS

What is your favorite drink to make?

CHAM PAG NE COCKTAIL

Rachel

The Champagne Cocktail is a simply named, sophisticated beverage that’s evolved over time. For the most simplest of cocktails is to just place a sugar cube in a chilled champagne flute, lash it with 2 or 3 dashes of bitters, fill the glass with brut champagne, and squeeze a lemon twist on top.

O LD FA S H IO N The Old Fashion is timeless. This simple classic drink made with rye or bourbon, a sugar cube, Angostura bitters, a thick cube of ice, and an orange twist delivers every time. Our opinion — the most popular cocktail in the world.

Savannah TH E COSMOPOLITA N

Made iconic by TV’s “Sex and the City,” the Cosmo mixes vodka, triple sec, cranberry juice, and lime juice. It’s a legendary cocktail with a big history and still resonates with the world today. (Incidentally, Carrie Bradshaw has reportedly moved on to Stella Artois.)

Jason

Charlie TO M CO LLIN S The original Tom Collins recipe calls for gin, lemon, and soda water; essentially, it’s a spritzy lemonade for grownups. This classic cocktail holds steady as one of our favorites.

Every wedding needs a point person. A venue coordinator cannot control or ask anything of a wedding party, so this is where your wedding planner is able to act as a mediator. He or she ensures clear communication between the coordinator, the wedding party and the vendors. The reverse is also true, a planner cannot ask favors or give instructions to the venue staff without the help and mediation of the coordinator. The morning of an event, a planner will often conduct a “huddle” or a game plan meeting with all the vendors and coordinators involved. During this time, it is crucial that the planner and coordinator discuss the dinner service window for the reception. This must happen in a controlled and timely manner, according to the BEO (banquet event order) provided by the coordinator, in cohesion with the OOE (order of events) provided by the planner. Seating charts and dietary restrictions are a must have for the coordinator to seat and feed guests successfully. You may also decide to plan for childcare. Childcare is a modern-day event service that can and should be provided at any large events. Your planner can source these services for you as well as provide seating and dietary needs. As for vendors, your venue will provide a list of their preferred partners, but your planner will hand select them, according to your needs and customization. Scheduling deliveries and loading of vendor services and items for the event should also be taken into consideration–the planner and coordinator will have to communicate in order to not create a backed-up loading station. With all this in mind, let us reiterate once more–brides, you need a wedding planner AND a venue coordinator. We strongly suggest that you create margin for both positions in your budget, and if there just isn’t any room in between those purse strings, then allow us to offer you a more economical solution: A dayof coordinator or wedding direction services, which start two months out from the big day. “With wedding direction your planner will supply you and your vendors with a cliff notes version of your wedding and assist in organizing and styling according to those notes and timeline,” says Jackson. These are wonderful options to consider when the wallet does not allow for extras. Your venue coordinator will remedy your event to the best of their ability; however, they cannot always control outside factors. In those cases your planner or day-of coordinator needs to jump in for the win. Babe Ruth once said, “The way a team plays as a whole determines its success. You may have the greatest bunch of individual stars in the world, but if they don’t play together, then the club won’t be worth a dime.” Some things just don’t function well without the collaboration of another moving part. So, brides, hire both positions, and don’t poke the vendor.

Mary Wintermote is the owner and lead planner for Mary Kate & Co. She has many years of experience in the legal field as a paralegal and has witnessed first-hand the difficulties encountered when a proper name change has not been made.

• You must go to the Social Security Administration office to request a name change. • You will need to bring: certified copy of the marriage license; proof of identity. (driver’s license, passport)

THE MARRIAGE LICENSE This document gets the ball rolling. • Texas marriage licenses are issued through the County Clerk’s office.

Jon Boyd, JD, is a partner with the Cotten Schmidt, LLP law firm’s Fort Worth office. He has been a successful Domestic Relations/Family Law attorney in the DallasFort Worth area for over forty years. Jon has focused his practice on family law litigation and has tried hundreds of contested final trials (including many jury trials), temporary hearings, enforcement hearings, modifications and motions.

• The license can be obtained no earlier than 90 days before the wedding but at least 72 hours before the wedding. • License costs vary county by county so check the county clerk’s office or website. Most counties require cash payments. • Each party will need proof of identity. • The executed license must be filed with the clerk’s office within 30 days of the wedding.

• The new card should arrive within two to three weeks. • The offices in Dallas and Fort Worth can be very crowded especially at the beginning of the month. Satellite offices are never as crowded.

TEXAS DRIVER’S LICENSE

Once you have your new Social Security card in hand, the process to change your name on your passport can begin.

• Complete the “APPLICATION FOR RENEWAL/REPLACEMENT/CHANGE OF A TEXAS DRIVER LICENSE OR IDENTIFICATION CARD” online.

THE EASY WAY From all the information above, it seems like changing your name on all these documents can be a daunting task. If you don’t want to go at it alone, there are companies who take a lot of the work off your shoulders. Newly Named (www.newlynamed.com), Hitch Switch (www.hitchswitch. com), Name Change Kit (www.namechangekit.com) and others have handy packages available to take the majority of the work out of it. You only have to Google “name change after marriage” and several options appear in the search result.

love love love to design something different. We typically get in the routine of things in the industry

of what the current trends are; especially with floral. I wanted to use the gold Harlow stands that so many bride’s love with a unique and modern twist. twist . We built the florals flowing through the gold stands to make a stunning ceremony structure adding in luxury garden rose blooms with touches of mauve and dusty rose. The tablescape was garnished with traditional Japanese arrangements called Ikebana with a mix of florals from the bridal bouquet and ceremony piece. We were gushing over this shoot. We hope that this can be an inspiration to new bride’s looking to be unique on their wedding day!

First Look with Dad One of the sweetest moments to capture as a wedding photographer are first looks. And while I love doing couple’s first looks, I have a special place in my heart for first looks with dad! This is something I always encourage my brides to do. When I was married, my wedding photographer didn’t suggest that I do a first look with my father, and I wish I had! Often, the father of the bride is the first to see the bride before she walks down the aisle. So why not capture this perfect moment! First looks with dad and the father-daughter dance always makes me tear up!

1

It allows you to have more photos with your loved ones. While the couple is often stressed, so are the parents! By taking the time to do a first look with dad, you are able to ease their nerves, before the walk down the aisle. Our parents often hold so many of their emotions in! But allowing you two to have that special moment can help them share their emotions. It allows both of you to cry, and just enjoy each other, before the busyness of the wedding day. After my father passed away 3 years ago, I realized I didn’t have many pictures of us. I wish I had a first look with him, so I could keep these memories forever!

2

Embrace new chapters. Capturing the first look with dad is such a special moment. We get to see dad with his “little girl” for the last time before being wed. It represents the end of an era, and it’s a sweet way to close it and embrace the new stage. It may even be the first time it really hits dad that his little girl is all grown up! Many of my clients tell me the first look with their dad was their favorite moment of the whole wedding day.

3

It lets you do a first look - if you don’t want to do a couples first look. If you love the idea of doing a first look, but you still want some tradition, you can always have the father-daughter first look be the alternative! While it can add time to your timeline to take both first looks with you and your father, as well as you and your groom, some couples choose to not do a first look before the wedding. You can still experience that magic of the first look, with your father or anyone special to you!

4

A first look with dad lets you include them on your wedding day. While most brides have their mom, sisters, or bridesmaids with them for the entire planning process, and even getting ready, it is important to not forget dad! By setting time aside, you are giving dad a special moment, that is just for you two. It lets you involve your father in a unique way, that he will love. Your parents are so proud of you! And I encourage my couples to really incorporate ways to include them throughout their wedding day.

Grazing tables can be a fun addition to your wedding and are especially suited for hosting guests during cocktail hour. We love using larger tables, anything to get your guests talking. They can be customized to compliment your decor and color scheme, season of the year, or personal preference. Tables may be sweet, savory, or both, and we always love when you include interesting elements like rambutans and passion fruit, or cranberry goat cheese and fresh pear preserves. hen the opportunity arose for my husband and I to have our own studio/event space, we jumped at the chance. We had been dreaming of an opportunity like this for years. Being in the wedding industry for 5+ years as photographers allowed us to see what we thought would make a perfect space. Creating a space full of light, huge windows, and clean lines appealed to us. We found a small building situated on 10 acres in Waxahachie. With gusto we began the remodeling process. We describe our space as clean

stemandlight

and minimalistic with the opportunity to create anything the imagination can dream up. Creatives and brides alike will find a blank canvas in which to add any elements with ease. It’s an ideal space for intimate weddings with a budget friendly price tag. Because of the large acreage, couple can choose to marry in the back field, patio area, or anywhere they wish within our property. Our front door is welcoming, and our color palette is timeless. We incorporate plants where we can and have plans to expand our landscaping. We feel like we are just getting started and hope you will check us out!

MAGGIE RECALLS HER FAVORITE PARTS OF HER WEDDING DAY: Choosing my favorite moment of our wedding day is so hard. I was so excited all day long, the whole thing is really my favorite moment. I will never forget sharing letters Brett and I had written during our first look, or the look on his face when he turned around and we got to see each other for the first time. Dancing with my dad and then sneaking a fun family dance into the end was also something so special and fun that made our day unique. My very favorite moment though, was probably having a private last dance with Brett at the end of the reception before we exited. I was so joyful and in love that I burst into tears. Seeing everyone waving 12th Man towels and Texas Tech tortillas as we left the reception was so much fun. Brett and I are so lucky to be surrounded by so much love as we start this new journey of marriage.

My favorite part about Brett and Maggie’s wedding day was seeing how incredibly happy they were. Even though they have been together for 7 years, I had never seen them as happy as they were that day. - TAMMY, MOTHER OF THE BRIDE

I loved watching Brett’s face when he looked at his high school sweetheart turned long distance girlfriend finally turned fiancé walk down the aisle to be his wife. His smile was wider than the church and his eyes full of pure pride and joy. I also loved pinning the boutonnières on most of the guys in the groom’s cottage.

The love and support in the

room for Brett and his future was overwhelming and war med my heart. - TERI, MOTHER OF THE GROOM

BRETT RECALLS HIS FAVORITE PARTS OF HIS WEDDING DAY: PHOTOS BY COURTNEY BOSWORTH PHOTOGRAPHY

Watching Maggie walk down the aisle during the ceremony was so surreal because it meant we were finally getting married. She was so beautiful. Walking into the reception and seeing all of our friends and family ready to celebrate with us made me so excited. But my very favorite part was dancing with Maggie for the first time as husband and wife.

SAVANNAH RECALLS HER FAVORITE PARTS OF HER WEDDING DAY: My favorite moment was the few minutes Blake and I had alone after the ceremony and before the big reception. After not having seen him all day, it was so nice to sit and soak everything that had just happened in together. During this time we tried all of the yummy food of the night and rehearsed our first dance that we had worked so hard on!

BLAKE RECALLS HIS FAVORITE PARTS OF HIS WEDDING DAY: My favorite moment was when we entered the reception for the first time together as Mr. & Mrs. Poston. Seeing the black and white dance floor, neon “The Poston’s” sign hanging above the band, and all our friends and family cheering was a moment I will never forget!

“Preston and I met when we were both living and working in Melbourne, Australia. After dating for two years, he proposed to me at the world famous Twelve Apostles cliffs with our dog Remy in tow. It was picture perfect! After a move home to the States, we wanted nothing less for our wedding, including having Remy present. Our coordinator caught the vision and made sure the details came together flawlessly. From the scenic venue to the gorgeous floral arrangements and the stellar band that kept us dancing all night long, it was pure magic! Surrounded by family and friends (including the four-legged type), it was the perfect start to our married life.” - Jenna

“Will and I had been together for nearly 8 years before we promised forever to one another at the altar. We fell in love at 15 and carried that love through all of these years. On a beautiful sunny day in Texas, the chapel doors of the Milestone Mansion opened, and I was greeted with the sweetest face at the end of the aisle smiling back at me. The room radiated with love from everyone there to witness the day that Will and I had been waiting our whole lives for. It was a dream come true.” - Christina

“God held our hands throughout the planning and the wedding day and it was nothing short of a fairy tale. We had an amazing night complete with a duet plated dinner, Middle Eastern DJ, two musicians, a 5-layer upside down cake, fresh flowers, mini dessert bar, a beautiful exit with sparklers and a horse drawn carriage. While the wedding was beyond perfect, it was the beginning of something much more important. “My wedding day described in one word was magical. We were surrounded by so much love and laughter and it truly made the day go by so fast. I wanted my wedding day to feel super simple but yet elegant and classy and that’s why I picked the The Pearl at Sabine Creek. It has a modern colonial country club vibe. Unlike most brides on their big day, I decided I wanted to showcase our wedding party’s unique individual styles and make sure that they were comfortable. I let them choose whatever dress/ suit they wanted to be in it just had to match the color I gave them. It was incredible to see my vision come to life with the man of my dreams.” - Bresha

“We honored the blending of two cultures and families throughout a daylong celebration. The morning gathering included a grand entrance on a palki, followed by a traditional Hindu ceremony in front of agni, the fire. After a delectable Indian lunch and a short reprieve, John’s father included his personal touch in the performance of the Christian wedding. The day culminated in copious amounts of food and dancing with all of our family and friends. Truly unforgettable!” - Ananya
