Fall is here...kind of. The weather around here is Fall(ish) in the morning and Summber by the afternoon. I will continue to keep it cooler in my house and wear my fall comfy clothes while sipping on tea and coffee and watching all the Gilmore Girls on Netflix. If you follow me on social media you have seen our mostrecent family news, WE ARE HAVING ANOTHER BABY! Baby number 2 is due around the time our first was born, so I will have appropriate sized clothing for the cooler weather and most importantly...not be super pregnant in the Texas heat. I am super excited to indulge in all the fall things: pumpkins, soups, cozy clothing, and warm beverages. I hope you enjoy our different look of fall. Balck and white is always in style and we thought it would be fun to incorporate it with this season instead of heading to our normal warm colors. This issue was so fun to create. Enjoy it with a nice cup of coffee or a Pumpkin Spice Latte, if that is your style. Thanks for letting the Sunshine in.

Oliva Lane is an up-and-coming country singer/songwriter living in Nashville, Tennessee. We had the opportunity to chat with her, and she is the BEST! Olivia is full of energy, spunk, and kindness. Her music is beautiful and inspiring. It was seriously the most fun chatting with MIss Olivia. I felt like we could have been best friends by the end of it. We really think you will enjoy her music as much as we do! (And not just because she has a song about Sunshine). Olivia is spreading light and positivity when we need it the most, encouraging her fans to get involed in making their own sunshine through the #sunshinemovement.

How long have you been a musician? Since I was 6. My mom was a country singer. She took me to vocal, acting, and guitar lessons. I have been professionally pursuing music for the last 6 years.
How did you get started? I have always been an artistic kid. I can remember the moment I fell in love with entertaining and music. It was my irst community musical, "Grease." I was singing the "Brusha Brusha" song and the audience laughed and smiled. I loved the feeling of making people happy. It was my first taste of entertaining and I knew it was what I wanted to do.
How would you describe your music to someone who has never heard it before? I grew up listening to so many genres of music. I was raised with 90's pop and 90's country but I also listened to The Eagles and Michael Jackson, so I think my music is a melting pot of all my favorite artists and hopefully is something of my own. I also love to dance and move onstage so my music for sure makes me move and groove!
How has your music evolved since you first started? Man, in so many ways! The last 2 years on the road have been such an amazing journey. I put out an acoustic mix called "Heart Unlocked." I have gone through an exponential learning curve as a songwriter and being on the road. Fans have helped me along the way by telling me how my music makes them feel and how they can relate. I love talking to my fans. I feel like my new EP is a representaion of where I wants to be. It is like “I have arrived.
What is your usual songwriting process? So dynamic! It's different every day. I'm inspired all the time, but honestly alone time is the biggest thing for me. I have to have time to be alone with my thoughts, so for instance I usually get a lot of ideas running because I zone out. Makes running a little difficult when I'm always stopping to jot down ideas! It's really so different everyday!
Do you prefer recording or playing live? Playing live. Hands down. I'm a total extrovert and love what I do because I get to interact with people all over. I did not realize that the studio would be so stressful for me, but it is. I am blessed to have co-producers that know me and my music and are so knowledgable. They are a huge help.
Who are your musical/non-musical influences? I love big, bold, fierce, witty women like Barbra Streisand, Carol Burnett and Dolly Parton. Also women who have taken their music and made a brand. I hope to become an awesome business woman someday.
What life experiences have influenced your music the most? I grew up very blessed with a wonderful family and all the love and support I could imagine having. I write a lot from my experiences growing up and entering the real world. I also love other people's stories because my life is just one experience. There are so many people out there living so many interesting lives. I love hearing people's stories, where they come from, where they've been.

What are your dreams and goals in life and in music?
What is the most challenging thing you have faced as a musician?
I have so many! A lot big female voices of country music i.e. Dolly and Reba have grown an empire. They started in music and grew into acting, comedy, theme parks, clothing lines... just being a total business woman. Even women like Barbra Streisand (She is my spirit animal). Women who are fierce and business women with fabulous art. It is my goal to be like them [in my own way].
Paying your dues. To me it is like I am on the baby act of a bunch of builds. Being an extrovert, I get my energy from people. When there are only two people in the crowd it is hard to have that energy, but I have to bring it every time. People writing you off like, "not going to care about her until we need to care about her." But it fuels me and makes me want to try harder. Inspiring.

What is the best advice you have ever been given? Be yourself, cause everyone else it taken. It is such a simple thing, but as a singer there are people in your ears buzzing you to do this and that because it is working. As an artist I was so lost at first. I risk being totally foolish because the times I have done that, some of my greatest songs have been written.
What advice would you give to those seeking to get their start in music? Be present to win! and be yourself. Totally know who you are, or be comfortable in going on the journey of finding who you are. Oh and always be kind.
How do you spend your time off? I love the outdoors. I love to go running, and I just bought a kayak. I grew up spending summers in colorado. We always went hiking and skiing, so I developed a love for the outdoors. Also, I am attempting to learn how to cook.
If you could listen to one album for the rest of your life what would it be and why? Eagles Greatest Hits. I listen to it every single day anyway. I love the songwriting, and I am always gaining a new perspective every time I listen to it. I have learned a lot from them.

Instructions: For the ‘Vanilla’ Sugar Cookie 1. In a medium bowl, whisk together 1 ½ cups all purpose flour, 1 teaspoon baking powder, ½ teaspoon baking soda, ¼ teaspoon salt, and 1 teaspoon cream of tartar. 2. In a large bowl, using a hand mixer (or stand mixer), whip ½ cup (1 stick) of unsalted butter on medium-low speed for 1-2 minutes until creamy. 3. Add in ¾ cup granulated sugar and whip on medium speed until very light and fluffy. Scrape down the sides and bottom of the bowl as needed. 4. Next, mix in 1 egg and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract just until they are all combined. 5. Add the flour mixture to the butter/sugar mixture (mixing on low speed) in 3 additions. Depending on the strength of your mixer, you may need to add the last bit in my hand as the dough will be thick. Do not overmix. Chill the dough for a few minutes while you get together the chocolate dough. Recipe From: Coffee & Sprinkles (www.coffeeandsprinklesbakes.com) Sugar cookie recipe slightly adapted from Sally's Baking Addiction (http:// sallysbakingaddiction.com/2013/04/26/soft-bakedfunfetti-sugar-cookies/) *Chocolate Sugar Cookie recipe slightly adapted from Mel's Kitchen Cafe (http:// www.melskitchencafe.com/chewy-chocolate-sugarcookies/)
30 Sunshine Issue No. 15
Yield: ~3 dozen cookies (plus so
ome chocolate dough left over)
For the Chocolate Sugar Cookie 1. In a small bowl, melt 14 tablespoons (1 stick + 6 tablespoons) of the butter and let cool. The butter should not be hot, but room temperature when you’re ready to use it. 2. In a medium bowl, whisk together 1 ½ cups + 2 Tablespoons all purpose flour, ¾ cup cocoa powder, ½ teaspoon baking soda, ¼ teaspoon baking powder, and ½ teaspoon salt. 3. Pour the cooled butter into a large bowl and add 1 ¾ cups dark brown sugar and 1 tablespoon vanilla and whisk until smooth. Next, whisk in 1 egg + 1 egg yolk until smooth. 4. Sprinkle the flour mixture over the butter/ sugar mixture and stir just until combined. 5. Line two baking pans with parchment paper. 6. Take 1 Tablespoon of the ‘vanilla’ sugar cookie and 1 Tablespoon of the chocolate sugar cookie mixture and roll into a ball. Once you have all the cookies on the parchment paper, chill the dough for at least 2 hours to prevent spreading in the oven. 7. When ready to bake, preheat the oven to 350. Bake the cookies for 8-10 minutes. No more than 10 minutes! The cookies should appear slightly undone. The ‘vanilla’ sugar cookie should be very slightly browned. Immediately place a few white chocolate chips on the ‘vanilla’ sugar cookie side and semi-sweet chocolate chips on the chocolate sugar cookie side. Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 2-3 minutes and then move to a wire rack to cool completely.

LIVE LOVE GAMEDAY
Sydney Durso, Owner of Live Love Gameday
I was one of “America’s Sweethearts” for 7 wonderful seasons. I auditioned in 2008 at Texas Stadium, a few days after my 18th birthday. I had no idea what I was getting into! I made the team a few months later and officially moved to Dallas. I am so thankful for every opportunity I had with the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders. I was able to cheer at Texas Stadium and Cowboys Stadium (which was later changed to AT&T Stadium). I traveled around the world performing for our U.S. troops every Christmas, doing USO tours in South Korea, Japan, Kuwait, Bahrain, Guam, Hawaii and other countries. I visited children’s hospitals and nursing homes throughout the year. I cheered at all of our home games from 2008-2015, which was the best experience. Each game day felt like my first. The crowd was going wild, my nerves were going wild, my excitement was going wild! After 7 seasons, the field was truly my home.
34 Sunshine Issue No. 15
Anytime the DCC needed me, I was excited and ready to represent. It is important in an organization like the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders to really give it your all and live in the moment…soak every minute and memory in and be present for everything. My last season (2014-2015) cheering, it was my turn as “group leader” to give my group a gift on game day (we rotate it each game, there are usually 8-10 in each group). I wanted to design something different and memorable. I kept repeating in my head, “Well, we are always with each other on the field. This stadium and this field are our home away from home. Perfect! Home is where the field is!” I came up with something that is sporty yet feminine and that conveys the message of how much I love football. I created a few of these tanks for my group, however when the other girls saw them, my order list began to grow. From there, alumni cheerleaders wanted them and girls from other NFL teams. In January of 2015, Live Love Gameday was born! I created an Instagram account and began reaching out to other NFL cheerleading teams and
NBA as well. I never once said who I was or what team I cheered for. I was just “Live Love Gameday.” I wanted people to fall in love with my designs and company. I even had friends writing me asking if I could contact LLG for them and get them a shirt. No one knew that I was the owner, and it was a pretty cool feeling! It wasn’t until May 2015, after I retired with the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, that I came out and announced that I was the owner of Live Love Gameday. I’ll never forget that moment! Since then, LLG has grown beyond what I ever imagined and I couldn’t be happier!
I love creating new tees and tanks for sports fans everywhere to wear on game day to show their love for their team(s). I now have football, baseball, softball, soccer, basketball, hockey, hunting, fishing, men’s tees and more. Home Is Where the Field Is™ is officially trademarked, and LLG recently became licensed collegiately beginning with Texas Tech, UNT and Rice University. I will continue to work hard and be creative in my designs, and I look forward to what is next for Live Love Gameday!
What is the most challenging part of your work? The biggest challenge for Live Love Gameday is staying on top of new designs and styles. Home Is Where the Field Is™ will always be our original design and our staple. I release it on a new tank or tee or long-sleeve every few months to keep our website fresh and updated. On top of that, I like to release fun and witty game day sayings that are unique for sports fans everywhere. I always get emails about different sports/hobbies. I remember when I was about to release: “I vow to always love you, even during hunting season.” I thought, “Will this sell? Do enough people love hunting that they would wear this tee?” Yes! That tee ended up being one of Live Love Gameday’s top-sellers, and it has recently been released for 2016 on a new super cute and comfy tee along with fishing season.
Do you have a storefront? Live Love Gameday is online only. You can shop 24-hours a day at www.livelovegameday.com! Recently, I opened up our website to wholesalers. We currently have boutiques selling LLG in Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Ohio, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas and more. Our wholesale database is growing quickly each day, and we love that customers across the U.S. are able to purchase Live Love Gameday at their favorite local boutiques instead of only on our website. If you know a boutique in your area that would be a great LLG partner, have them email us at hello@livelovegameday.com!
We also recently added international shipping to our website, which is extremely exciting! We have shipped to a variety of countries. One that stands out in my mind was a professional cheerleading team in Germany that ordered shirts for all of the girls and sent us photos of them wearing our “Home Is Where the Court Is” tees in the snow before a basketball game! I look forward to more adventures and opportunities with Live Love Gameday!
What keeps you inspired? My latest tee is "I just want to hold hands and watch baseball with you!" This design is also available for football. When I was designing this tee, my fiancé laughed and said, "Ummm, isn't that a little too girlie. I mean...hold hands and watch football? I don't think so!" I love releasing tees and tanks for sports-lovers with a little extra emphasis on the "love"–simple sayings that capture our customers' passion for the game but at the same time have a playful, romantic and sometimes silly side to them!
How do you spend your days off? Oh goodness, I am not sure if I have had any days off recently! However, I enjoy what I do so much that it is not work to me. It is exhausting, but fun and truly enjoyable. If I do get time off, I like to travel. Whether it is a short drive to Austin, Texas for the weekend or a quick flight to my fiance's hometown in Mississippi, I love getting away to relax and refresh.
37
What is your favorite part of tailgating? I cheered for the Dallas Cowboys for 7 seasons (2008-2015), and immediately after that I performed one season with the Dallas Mavericks Dancers (2016), so I honestly have never tailgated before. I hear a lot of great things about it! This year, I will have to give it a try before a Dallas Cowboys game, and I will let you know what my favorite part is.
What is your idea of the perfect halloween costume? So, I was never great at dressing up for Halloween, haha. I guess I am not "scary" enough for the holiday. My favorite costume to date is when I dressed up as a unicorn and my fiance wore a shirt I handpainted that said "I believe" on it.
What is your favorite part about fall? Fall is my favorite season. I am actually getting married to the man of my dreams this fall, November 11, 2016. Of course, I love fall because of football season, but my favorite part of fall is just how "cozy" everything is...the crisp air, colorful leaves, pumpkins, roasting marshmallows, chunky sweaters, fuzzy boots, football games and delicious hot coffee. I also love Thanksgiving! As a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader, the Thanksgiving Day game was always my absolute favorite! Everyone is happy and thankful and stuffed with turkey. We perform with an incredible artist and give back to the Salvation Army. The entire day is just wonderful and definitely one of my favorite things about fall.

hic tee shirts with our editor in chief Leann Daniel 41
Things you will need: 1. Shirts 2. Iron-on letters 3. iron 4. Piece of linen cloth
" I made our shirts for a big, fun announcement! Yes, we are adding another tiny to the family. "
First, Cut out the letters you need and arrange them on your shirt. You may need more than one pack of letters, depending on the amount of letters needed for you word or phrase.
Then, Iron on your letters. You will need to put the cloth over the letters so the plastic does not stick to the iron. It is easiest to follow the directions that come with the letters. A super easy and cute project!
This sister duo is changing the game of cute, quality athletic wear. Tired of the unattainable price tags of name brand athletic wear, they decided to create their own! Senita Athletics was launched in December of 2015 with the goal to provide durable, fashionable, and functional products at a fraction of the price of their competitors. We love everything they have to offer especially the pockets! Because everything is better with pockets. Made by wives, mothers, sisters, and athletes for wives, mothers, sisters, and athletes.
Describe your business. Senita Athletics is a high quality women's athletic wear company. We pride ourselves in the quality and affordability of our gear.
How did you get started? After having our first children we left our jobs to be home with the kids and pursue the dream of being entrepreneurs. We have been teammates our whole lives from high school soccer to track and field at a Division I university. In total we have owned dozens of running shorts, sports bras, tank tops, tights, and jackets. After we had our boys, we were determined to get back in shape. We stopped in a few fitness apparel stores to grab new items, but couldn't accept the prices being offered to us. We knew there had to be an alternative. After months of research and development, we have found manufacturers that can make our designs with the highest quality fabrics that we can now share with other athletes, moms, and active women at affordable prices.
What's behind your name? Senita is the name of a cactus that is native to Arizona. It blooms beautiful flowers in the spring. We wanted a name that would represent strength and grit but also beauty. Senita (a cactus) seemed like the perfect fit.
Why athletic apparel? We saw a problem and wanted to fix it! We were sick of having two options. 1Buy cheap athletic wear that wouldn't last longer than a year. 2- Spend over $100 on leggings that we were going to SWEAT in! We wanted an alternative... That, and we enjoy exercising, so we practically live in our gym clothes.
Anything new to look forward to this fall? We have an incredible Fall line coming out that we are very excited about. It will include some designs we've never done before and of course pockets on a lot of the items for convenience and functionality.
47
What are some of your most popular items?
What is the most challenging part of your work?
The Black Fierce Capris and Sarah Sports Bras fly off the shelves.
Balance. We could work on our business ALL day. We always want to take Senita to the next level, but we also know that being a wife, mother, and good friend is what's most important at the end of the day. Figuring out that balance is a struggle we deal with all time.
The pockets are genius and creatively incorporated. How was this idea formed? When we design new products we try to solve problems that may exist. We almost always have our phones on us when we run. Sticking our phone in the front of our sports bra, or wearing a bulky arm band has always been a dilemma. Several of our items feature pockets, and our customers love that.
What do you love about your work? We love so many things about what we're involved in. I think the top two would be: being able to stay home with our kids, and working together as sisters to create products that people love. We also love inspiring other women to live healthy, active lives. We hear from our customers all the time that their new Senita outfit inspired them to exercise, or that they ran a personal best in a 5k wearing Senita. We love that!
Describe your office. Do you have a storefront? We do not have a store front. We certainly dream about it but for now it's not very practical. Our offices are inside our homes (or wherever we take our laptops)!
What keeps you inspired? We have incredible parents that have always encouraged us to follow our dreams. We also really look up to some of the bigger athletic wear companies and appreciate their ingenuity and creativity especially Under Armour. Our customers also inspire us - they have given us so many ideas that we have implemented. However, I think as sisters and best friends we inspire each other the most because we have always wanted to see each other succeed (despite being crazy competitive).
Follow @senita on instagram
those pocekts though.
48 Sunshine Issue No. 15
What is your biggest accomplishment (your biggest pinch me moment)? I saw a complete stranger in Costco wearing Senita. That was surreal. Another cool accomplishment has been working with Type 1 Diabetics who have found our products perfect for holding their insulin pumps. Our younger brother has Type 1, so we understand the struggles they face.
How do you spend your days off? On the days we do take off, which are pretty rare, we usually end up playing with our kids in the pool, working on projects around the house with our husbands, or most recently, we both traveled together with our kids to Utah to visit family. So much of our work can be done on our phones, but it is nice to occasionally unplug.
What is the best piece of advice you've ever been given? We have a great mentor that has encouraged us to personalize the brand and share more about our lives and our story. It's uncomfortable for us, but we believe it brings meaning to the brand that people appreciate.
What is your favorite thing about fall? Pumpkin dessert! Oh, and cooler days here in AZ.

A mother/daughter power team from Australia is bringing ease and simplicity to children's clothing. They have created a line for kids who are not afraid to stand out of a crowd. Using a monochrome palette, unique prints and soft stretchy fabrics, Paxton and Co is bring style and a unique look to your kids. Paxton and Co. is not even a year old yet! We cannot wait to see where their small business takes them.
How did you decide on the monochromatic palette (we love it)?
Describe your business.
Why children's clothes?
Paxton and Co is an Australian family business that designs and creates trendy and easy to wear children’s clothing. Our inspiration and design for our clothing comes from the three most important little people in our lives, Eli, Avalyn and Hudson.
Both my mum and myself are very much black and white dressers, its simple yet easy to wear! It also allows you to mix and match other colors with our clothes easily. I also like the idea of being able to go out to eat and if Hudson spills his food on a black tee, we can still walk out of the restaurant looking as trendy and clean as he did when we first arrived! I had just had my first child and I could never find anything that I really liked and speaking to other Mums found there was a need for this style of cloths for children.
How did you get started? Paxton and Co is a mother/daughter team, the idea of starting our small business came from my business partner, my mum Shirley, who was sick and tired of walking around the shops with me trying to find simple yet trendy clothes for my son Hudson. One day my mum came over to my house and said "I think we should give this idea a 100% chance and go to China!" Within a week we were on a plane.
What's behind the name? Paxton was a name I had picked out for my boy Hudson but never used.
Our Editor's little rocking his Paxton and Co. tank..
60Sunshine Issue No. 15
What do you love about your work? The beautiful emails we receive from our costumers. It warms our heart to think these people have taken a few minutes out of their busy day to write and tell us how they loved the items they received. We always get a little nervous when we release a new item, hoping people love it as much as we do.
What is the most challenging part of your work? Everything is made overseas, sometimes communication isn't always understood on both ends. We have waited for our production to be made and sent to us, only to open it and it all be incorrectly made. It defiantly is challenging not to be able to hop in the car and drive down to check on your production but its something we work hard on and know its part of running a business.
62 Sunshine Issue No. 15
Describe your workspace. We only sell online, so everything is stored at my mum’s house. She has the empty nest so we are quickly filling the empty rooms up with stock!
What keeps you inspired? We love seeing all the outfits that are put together by the mums that tag us on Instagram. Seeing our small business being supported by these amazing costumers, we are very grateful! I also see so many outfit ideas using a tee or our skinny leg jeans and I will often go and buy the other items for Hudson.
What is your biggest accomplishment so far? Our first sale! It probably doesn't sound that exciting but it was the best feeling when that fist sale was made. We had worked so hard on creating these ideas... personally selecting the fabrics and then having them made. For someone to want to buy our items on the first night we had opened our online store, we couldn't believe it!
63
How do you spend your days off? With our family having bbq’s, fishing, bike riding or going to the beach.
What is the best piece of advice you've ever been given? Don't compare yourself or your business to anyone else. Be confident in your designs and your products and listen to your customers feedback.
What is your favorite thing about fall? We live in Australia, in the city of Brisbane. Our weather is very sunny and tropical all year around so we don't really get to experience the Fall season. However I love the cooler weather when you get to experience the misty mornings, everything looks so magical, especially if you’re around the country side.
What is your idea of the perfect halloween costume? The Nightmare Before Christmas Jack Skellington, black and white all the way! A man after our own hearts!
