A

performance of Handel’s Messiah is being organised by Marjon Gilbert (443 4921) to be a joyous uplifting experience for Christmas.

So the Wanaka Community Choir was formed and rehearsals started in October, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6-7:30, at St.Andrews Presbyterian Church, Tenby St, Wanaka.

New singers are still welcome to join, including those who may never have sung before. Tenors can expect a very friendly welcome. Extra support is available from a website (www.WanakaMessiah. blogspot.com) and a computer CD that

helps people practice their parts at home.

About one third of the Messiah will be performed, mainly the Christmas music and ending with the Hallelujah chorus.

The performance will be on Sunday 11th December, 6:30pm at St.Andrews, with conductor John Buchanan, accompanist Cheryl Taylor and soloists from the choir. The event is being supported by Wanaka Combined Churches and the Upper Clutha Community Arts Council.

There will be a gold coin collection at the performance to be given to the Salvation Army as a Christmas gift for Christchurch.

Hello Wanaka it's been awhile since I've written a crime line and unfortunately there is still crime going on and things to report.

Riverbank Rd and Halliday Rd have had dogs attacking sheep. Dogs need to be kept under control at all times. A property near the airport had a lamb killed and half eaten by a dog. This is not looking good people. This could be costly as the lambs are getting up there in price now-adays.

Theft from the Wanaka New World supermarket bike rack, a distinctive specialised jump bike and also a green and purple ladies mountain bike were taken from Pembroke Park. Be nice to have them back thanks.

We have had reports that a number of high school aged kids are skate boarding at Wanaka Primary School and creating a large amount of noise and hanging off pot plants in the school yard. The primary school is private property and you need permission to enter the grounds.

A crash on the Anderson Road round-about on Wednesday; Giving way is a problem here.

NOTE: If I'm going to turn right, then as I enter the round-about I will have my right indicator on to show everyone what I'm going to do. When I get to the exit, where I want to leave the round-about, I then indicate left, so everyone knows I'm now leaving the round-about.

The confusion at round-abouts is when you enter it with your left indicator going and then turn right then left and then what!! Easy, do as I described above and we all live happily every after. (Until they change the rules again) Theft of a ladder from Mt Iron Heights, any ideas?

Wilful damage again; Totara Terrace sees a party and damage caused from people leaving. You know the house, it's got young loud noisy people living there, get a grip and calm down.

A young man was arrested for his part in an historical wilful damage, from two weeks ago, where a number of windows were smashed in Ardmore Street. Other offenders are still outstanding.

There was an assault outside the bakery on Ardmore Street on Saturday night. Investigations are in progress.

The temporary speed limits around town are confusing some people. These are actually "work areas" for people and they need to be safe. When they are not there the road is not actually capable of having traffic travel at normal speeds, SLOW DOWN. Many thanks everyone and have a great November.
