We have all seen the devastation caused by the cyclone in the North Island. The work to re-build communities and homes is an ongoing process and continued support to those families affected is vital.

Here is a great way you can show your support and have a fantastic night. Grab up to 8 of your smartest friends to join a team and come to Edgewater Hotel on Sunday, 16 April from 5.00pm for a night of trivia hosted by the Wanaka Lions Club. Entry will be $30 pp. The night will consist of quiz rounds, drinks, light snacks and a raffle or two.

Creating Your Cash ow

That is the message from Presbyterian Support Otago Family Works Wanakabased Financial Mentor, Nicole Huddleston. Mrs Huddleston is providing sessions to help individuals and families set up a ‘cash ow’ to help them get on top of their personal nances and begin to create a positive future for themselves.

Mrs Huddleston says, “It is intended that a session will be 2-3 hours and will include putting in place a basic cash ow structure

from a budget and I’ll provide advice on how to manage it.”

“Some preparatory work will be required prior to the session and the long-term outcome should see a positive change in their nancial position.”

What a treat to have two Professors at the Royal College of Music in London entertain us!

Natalia launched her solo career at the age of seven with the Novosibirsk Philharmonic. A few years later she was invited to study at the Yehudi Menuhin School, hailed by Menuhin as ‘one of the most brilliant of our younger violinists’. After completing her studies at the Royal College and the Royal Academy of Music, she won several prestigious international

competitions including the Sir Michael Hill Violin Competition in which the world’s nest young violinists compete.

Yuri became the BBC Radio Two Young Musician of the Year in 1993 and performs worldwide. He is the founder and Artistic Director of the Russian Virtuosi of Europe, with some of the nest young Russian musicians based in Western Europe.

Wao Aotearoa launches a Community Food Survey

In a move to make the Queenstown Lakes a more food resilient community, Wao Aotearoa and the QLDC have launched an online survey to assess the strengths and weaknesses in our local food systems. The results from this survey will contribute to the creation of a district-wide Local Food Network, which will enable action and new initiatives to help our district become more food resilient.

Food resilience is the ability to continue to feed ourselves in the face of disruptive shocks or stresses that our system might face.

The project is championed by food resilience and food systems sustainability expert Julia Blackford.

”The good news is, we don’t live on Mars - the soil beneath our feet can be fertile, and there’s plenty we can do. But we need everybody’s help. The rst step is to nd out where we are at, as a community, and exactly what holes we have in our food system.” Julie says. The survey only takes two minutes to complete and helps build the roadmap to increase the region’s ability to feed the community in the future.

The role is primarily focused on student attendance and managing the student reception. The applicant will preferably have had some administration or reception experience, although this is not essential. If you like working with teenagers, are patient, steadfast, flexible, and have a sense of humour, this could be the job for you.

We are looking for a special person to join our dynamic team.

You will be working with students ranging from Year 7 to 11. The job will require you to support learners who are taking part in alternative and individualised programmes. The successful applicant will be supported by a teacher who will have responsibility for administering the programme. This position is for 20-25 hours per week, term time only, and is fixed term for 2023.

The position is 37.5 hrs per week, term time only, and is permanent. Hours are from 8am - 4.00pm. Pay for this role is in accordance with the Support Staff Collective Agreement for Secondary Schools.

While having some experience with learning and teaching would be an advantage, it is not essential for this position. If you like working with teenagers, are patient, steadfast, flexible, physically fit and have a sense of humour, this could be the position for you.
