Prime Timers Meetings Are Back Prime Timers holds a bi-monthly meeting and afternoon tea in the Presbyterian Church Community Rooms on Tenby Street, Wanaka. These run between the months of February and November with guest speakers talking on a variety of subjects followed by afternoon tea. Our meetings are casual and relaxed with a homely environment that is inclusive to all. In between meetings we have outings. Some local and some a bit further afield. For example, we go to Hawea, but also to the senior citizens afternoon tea in Arrowtown, which is part of their Autumn Festival, as well as shopping trips, winery tours and many other exciting destinations. The Wanaka Community Toy Library is a not-for-profit registered charity, run by volunteers, for the benefit of children and families living in Wanaka, Albert Town, Lake Hawea, Luggate and surrounds. Our library offers a range of toys, puzzles, sport, musical and other play items suitable for members to hire, we advocate for sustainability by promoting the borrowing of toys appropriate for children at different stages in their development instead of buying. We are currently on the lookout for volunteers, as well as other rolls. Are you retired or have some spare time and would like to support our community? We are currently looking for the following positions: Chair Person Librarian - this will be a paid role. Volunteers - to help man the Toy Library for opening hours and would receive a free membership in return. No commitment to every single week. ROSE, Barry Willcocks (Spock) On January 28, 2024, passed away peacefully at Lady Wigram Retirement Village,Christchurch, aged 86 years. Dearly loved husband of the late Shirley, amazing loving father to Roy and Leanne (Timaru), Tracey and Paul Snape (Christchurch), Charlie (Paul) and Sid, (Tauranga), adored grandad of Josh, and Olivia, Brodie, Jesse, and Kade; Henry, and Olly; Nic, Cameron, and Julia; and loved great-grandad to his eight greatgrandchildren. Special thanks to all the staff at Lady Wigram and Aspiring Lifestyle Village (Wanaka) for the wonderful care and support given to Barry and family. In accordance with Barry’s wishes, a private cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service to celebrate Barry’s life will be held in the Pavilion at Edgewater Resort, 54 Sargood Drive, Lake Wanaka at 2pm on Sunday, February 11, 2024.
