ART FOR ALL WATERCOLOUR WORKSHOPS

Art for All is thrilled to announce that they have received partial funding from Creative NZ’s Creative Communities Scheme, (managed by the Central Otago District Council).

This will enable local artist Jo Jago to offer two watercolour workshops to the Wanaka community on Saturday, 5 October, 2024, at a significantly reduced rate.

Jo says “It really irks me that art classes are so expensive, this often means many individuals miss out on the chance to be creative, I am really excited to offer these subsidised workshops to our community. It is greatly appreciated when those who can afford to pay more do so,

With this generous funding from Creative Communities Scheme, tickets prices are up to 80% off the normal price. Participants can purchase tickets at the minimum price or pay more if they are able, additionally, spectator tickets are available at no charge. This workshop is open to all ages and aims to make art more accessible to everyone in our community.

Funds from tickets purchased above the minimum price will support future events, community workshops and subsidise lower-priced tickets.

Applications are open for the Wānaka A&P Foundation’s new grant programme, funded by the Upper Clutha A&P Society, to support individuals and non-pro t groups and initiatives in the rural sector.

The Capability Development Grant is designed to help individuals develop leadership skills and advance agricultural innovation, sustainability, or future thinking. It is a valuable opportunity for those committed to driving progress and future thinking in agriculture.

Do you want to do something to support your Community and Wanaka police to keep your community safe?

We are looking for new volunteers! Patrollers are out and about on a Friday and Saturday night in a dedicated vehicle, providing the eyes and ears for the police.

There are two patrollers at a time and we patrol from 10.00pm until 2.00am. We patrol residential, business and industrial areas to deter or identify suspicious activity.

We have been asked to look out for speci c vehicles or missing and wanted persons.

We are in constant communication with local police and log in each night with southern police comms. They then know where we are and when we can help.

Bremner Bay Clean-up and BBQ event with WAI Wānaka

WAI Wānaka invites the community to roll up their sleeves and take part in a special clean-up event at Bremner Bay on Friday, 20 September from 3.00 - 5.00pm, in support of Clean-up Week 2024.

A great opportunity for locals and visitors alike to come together, connect, and help protect the beauty and health of Lake Wānaka.

Following the clean-up, volunteers are invited for a BBQ/sausage sizzle to celebrate their e orts, with drinks and kai generously provided by local businesses Wānaka Beerworks and Gallagher Insurance. Rubbish collected during the event will be sorted and recorded into the Litter Intelligence database, a nationwide citizen science initiative. All are welcome to join in on the fun.
