A complete script font with great legibility, this modern calligraphy script infuses a light-hearted feel yet carries a touch of elegance. Pair it with a sans serif font on thick white stock paper or even a transparent material to create a romantic, classy look. It’s good for titling and perhaps certain quotes but don’t overuse it. Nicer when viewed up close, this won’t work for posters because it’s a little too thin.

simplicity
Can the wind be part of a wedding theme? Because it certainly played a big part in this wedding by injecting drama into the details of the day. Look at the bride’s gorgeously windswept hair! Keeping the decorative elements simple, this bridal couple allowed Santorini to shine as the perfect backdrop. They chose simple and leafy ferns, leaves and shrubs to go with the white flowers, while the gilded furniture, utensils and vases complemented the lightness of the dÊcor by grounding the wedding amidst its breathtaking surroundings.

CEREMONY Accompanied by her parents, the bride walked down the aisle towards her dapper groom, who was just as excited to exchange vows in front of their loved ones. Before a group of 80 to 100 people, the newlyweds said ‘I do’ in a beautiful ceremony that featured the most magnificent views. It was equal parts dramatic, romantic and classic. “We chose Rocabella because it offered a classic Santorini backdrop, but also had the space to accommodate the number of guests we had,” said Danielle. “The majority of venues in Santorini cater to much smaller weddings, believe it or not!”

moody romance In a place like Venice, the mood and theme are already set. In the middle of summer, when the evenings and sunsets are long, the colours of the ancient Italian city give life to a moody, romantic vibe. With the surroundings taking centre stage, all the bride and groom had to do was keep things minimal, sprucing up the dĂŠcor with textures and colour in the form of green leaves, white flowers, and gold and gilded elements on black.

CEREMONY Given the option to get married in a gorgeous church like San Giovanni Evangelista, who wouldn’t say yes? The detailed artwork and intricate architecture meant there was no need for additional décor. All the bride and groom had to bring were large bouquets of flowers, and candles to set the mood. Taking things to a whole new level of chic was the bride’s wedding gown – subtle yet glamorous, her bejewelled lace gown was breathtaking indeed!

San Giovanni Evangelista Church, Venice Constructed in the 15th century, San Giovanni Evangelista is a Roman Catholic church in Venice. Historically decorated by frescoes – depicting both biblical and classical themes – it once hosted a lot of famous and valuable art, but most of it has since been moved to international museums for safekeeping and scholarly research. Despite being more than 500 years old, it has only been refurbished three times at different stages for the upkeep of its incredibly detailed interior and magnificent exterior. What’s a trip to Venice without spending time in such an awe-inspiring place of worship that is steeped in so much history?

RECEPTION Charina: “We knew we wanted somewhere overlooking the Venice canals during sunset, and Belmond Hotel Cipriani was the perfect choice for our cocktail and dinner reception. The setting was ideal for an intimate garden wedding, and it overlooked the water as the sun set over the city.” Celebrating with just 25 of their friends and family, the newlyweds ensured that their wedding reception was an intimate affair. As theirs was a destination wedding, it had also doubled up as a holiday for many, and the couple generously gave their guests favours from Louis Vuitton, including a personalised monogram luggage tag, to show their appreciation for their guests’ effort and time.

tropical elegance Where you go for your destination wedding matters. If your venue of choice is basically a tropical paradise, then that’s your wedding theme already with only fringe details required – customised to the bride and groom’s fancy, of course. For their wedding, Gen and Chan chose to keep things simple and minimalist, making the most of Thailand’s tropical vibes. Their neutral colour palette of white, grey and nude was an ideal choice, and we especially love the bridal gown, a peachy nude, off shoulder dress adorned with white flower appliques. It was a white dress, but not really. How chic!

The bridesmaids wore soft pink, and the groomsmen were in cool grey. We love the sweet touch of flower crowns for the bridesmaids!

CEREMONY The newlyweds exchanged their vows in the company of their family and best friends, the tall trees adding to the dramatic and moody romance of their ceremony. Lining the “aisle” were big bunches of flowers and ferns on wooden barrels, which kept things playful yet glamorous.

T
he sheer beauty that we are lucky enough to have all around us continues to blow our minds, or maybe it’s the talented photographers we have in our region that we should be giving
the credit to. Louis Gan Photography recently took this set of bridal portraits in Bromo, Indonesia, and the result is a wonderfully natural and surreal set of photos. It’s also not every day that we get to see a black lace gown and a bridal couple in Timberland boots. We had the privilege of speaking to the pair, who happen to run a photobooth business called Grabmybooth. What made you decide to take your bridal portraits in Bromo? Actually, our photographer Louis Gan was the one who recommended the location. Being from the wedding industry ourselves, we knew that we did not want the typical bridal portraits. We have no regrets; Bromo is such a beautiful place. How did you plan your outfits and the whole shoot? Again, we credit our photographer for making it happen. He was really meticulous, working with us to get the right outfits, and he was responsive throughout. The shoot was short and went smoothly.

He has a great eye for capturing special moments, and beautifully frames each of his creative shots with clever plays on light and shadow. What inspires your photography? I would say my inspiration comes from mostly visual sources, a mixture of movies, games and anime. Do you prefer to shoot wedding day photos or bridal portraits? I prefer to shoot the more natural and un-staged moments. Which I guess leads us to the next question: you have a real photojournalistic eye. How do you capture those moments? Do you anticipate them? It’s a combination of luck and experience, which allows me to predict and react to a moment. What are your other hobbies besides photography? Would you be surprised if I said my only hobby is photography? I started out in 2008 taking photos purely as a hobby, and only took the plunge and pursued photography as a career two years later. You shoot a lot of destination weddings. Can you share with us the difference between a destination wedding and one that
