Salted mocha Salted Mocha is a hand drawn brush script typeface with a dancing, bouncing baseline. It has good readability and comes in both upper and lowercase. This is gorgeous for titling, playing with different sizes, and creating stunning quotes. See how it can add rhythm to sans serif fonts and immediately make a design stand out. This font would look great with foil stamping too.

his photoshoot, styled by Sherly of Tie The Knot and photographed by Joshua Koh of Inlight Photos, has
redefined studio bridal portraits for us. Bringing the outdoors inside has been a trend for wedding receptions, but what’s stopping couples from doing the same for their bridal portraits? Allowing for better control of lighting and the comfort of air conditioning, studio photoshoots definitely keep everyone in a better mood. Also, it’s a great idea if you are worried about wearing your wedding gown outdoors before your big day. We could go on about what a brilliant idea this is, but instead we shall let you enjoy this beautiful styled shoot.

Not many brides get the chance to get married at home. This one did, and she transformed her home into a whimsical garden filled with gorgeous flowers in peach, ivory, pink and lavender hues, with a sneaky pop of dark berry for contrast. Pulling the entire elegant look together were hints of rustic elements such as customised wooden carts, crates and ladders that also doubledup as food stations for the hors d’oeuvres and other finger food. “I wanted an outdoor wedding, full of greenery and flowers,” said Ee. “The decorations created such a dreamy and whimsical atmosphere; it was surreal.”

CEREMONY Every marriage union is a celebration, and what’s a celebration without champagne? For their ceremony, the couple had a champagne brunch soirée where guests witnessed them exchanging their vows under a lush floral arch, flanked by their dapper groomsmen and gorgeous bridesmaids. There was also a 3-piece string ensemble for the worship part of the ceremony before the vows. We especially loved the white cloth and flowers decorating the aisle, as well as the warm earth tones – it was perfect for an outdoor wedding.

THEME AND DETAILS
cosy+rustic
Warm earthy tones punctuated with blush pink colours, eucalyptus leaves, and gilded elements meant that everything was subtly elegant yet cosy and casual. Set against the rustic backdrop of the winery, all the newlyweds had to do was add their own little touches and details. This they did, in the form of unstructured dreamy florals with a garden-inspired feel, and some fairy lights to add to the romantic ambience. Days before the wedding, it was reported that there would be a storm, but fortunately the storm only came after everyone had moved indoors for the reception. It turned out to be a blessing in disguise, as the cold weather, rain and cloudy skies added a final design element that only Mother Nature could provide – a stormy yet dreamy atmosphere! RECEPTION The entire celebration was the epitome of a cosy rainy day spent with loved ones. It was not without the help of their nearest and dearest – the couple were blessed to have such talented friends as Evyta Irawan, who lent her talent to all the signs and stationery, including the seating charts and place cards. Incidentally, she was also the friend who had brought the couple together! In lieu of a photobooth, the couple had their guests take Polaroid selfies of themselves, which they then stuck in the guestbook with a message. Finally, to complete the rustic and intimate vibe, instead of a band, they opted for a singer on acoustic guitar. For this they called their friend, James Abbott, who impressed everyone with his performance.

organic + raw Tall stalks of wheat and flowers made for dramatic centrepieces, but the whole soirée still felt rustic with the minimalist backdrop. Thanks to the venue’s high ceilings and big windows, the natural light was perfect for photos. With a colour palette of muted tones, with an unfinished yet natural feel, the décor concentrated more on textures and fullness – such as wooden accents, rope weaves, and potted greens with abundant leaves. The final touch of glamour was the use of fairy lights, which set a romantic tone for the celebration.

SOLEMNISATION The happy couple exchanged their vows in the cosy presence of 70 guests, as well as their beloved fur-babies, their two cats: Elijah and Oliver. (That being said, the cats snoozed through the entire event!) The food display was a sight all on its own, with the cake and desserts looking absolutely scrumptious and fitting to theme. Seeing everyone grinning from ear to ear with so much joyous excitement for the couple, it was obvious that this was a day that overflowed with love.

dreamy textures There was a combination of powdery hues and deep colours, together with a mix of textures from the stationery, leather details, and faux fur elements. The bridal party got ready in an all-white house where everything looked like it was part of a dream – the tulle and lace, in particular, giving a softness to everything. We especially loved the laidback yet beautifully put together ombre stormy pastels of the bridesmaids’ dresses. Finishing the look were the gorgeous floral elements, including one of the most beautiful bridal bouquet arrangements yet!

CEREMONY Details and theme aside, the natural beauty of Queenstown in New Zealand has definitely got to be one of Mother Nature’s finest work – truly, it is a sight to take your breath away. With its rolling hills, deep valleys and tall trees, this was the perfect backdrop for the couple’s bridal portraits after they said, “I do”. With just close friends and family on hand to celebrate the union, there wasn’t a single dry eye in the house that day.

lavender+grey The romance and elegance of lavender, complemented by a colour palette of grey, green and blush pink, resulted in absolutely gorgeous floral arrangements, from the decorations and hand bouquets down to the reception centrepieces. In contrast were the rustic, unrefined textures of wooden and earthy elements such as rattan pendant lampshades, oak chairs and wooden plates. Set against the beautiful view overlooking the ocean, the entire celebration felt relaxed and personal, and reflected the personalities of the happy couple.

RECEPTION It was the little details that made this wedding truly reflect the union of Amelia and William, such as naming the tables after their favourite liquors, handwriting their guests’ names on each of their favours, and the most touching of all: Amelia attaching a locket in memory of her beloved late father to her bridal bouquet so she could feel him by her side on her special day. The reception was absolutely beautiful, with the bridal table under an arbour covered fully with leaves, and an illusion ceiling created by fairy lights.

O
ver the years, destination bridal portraits have definitely stolen the limelight off honeymoons. These folks decided to go on an adventure before their big day, and have it
all captured by a professional photographer. Thanks, Bobby Kiran Photography, for bringing us this beautiful set. To achieve this, Joyce and Beam flew from Singapore to San Francisco for this five-day journey. Starting at Yosemite National Park, they headed east to Arizona. We spoke to them about some of the challenges they faced. “One of the main challenges was definitely the lack of sleep, given the limited time we had allocated for the photoshoot. However, thanks to the excitement and energy of Bobby and his fiancée, we were running on adrenaline most of the time! We were also unprepared for the cold winds that accompanied the already chilly weather, and travelling upslope at Horseshoe Bend while in a gown was a test in itself as well. Bobby had to carry all his equipment while battling the cold so it was quite a workout for all of us. “We were very lucky during this trip, as the weather forecast had shown rain and snow for the week that we would be in Yosemite. Personally, I was excited to have a shot with Glacier Point as the backdrop. The roads were closed during the weeks leading up to our shoot so we were not very optimistic. However, on the day of the shoot, the roads reopened that very morning so you can imagine our joy! “Horseshoe Bend was a highly anticipated location on our list, and it was an amazing and unique experience. It was truly spectacular to have our photos taken there.” PHOTOGRAPHY BOBBY KIRAN PHOTOGRAHY LOCATION UNITED STATES

Effortless grace Classic styles are making a comeback, with simple silhouettes and crisp white bridal gowns in luxurious fabrics taking centre stage this season. Influenced perhaps by the recent royal nuptials, there seems to be a level of restraint when it comes to embellishments, and a sense of minimalist elegance in the aesthetics. Here are some of our favourites.

No doubt made popular again by Meghan Markle’s Givenchy wedding gown, the bateau neckline, so named because of its resemblance to a shallow, flat-bottomed boat, is definitely in vogue right now.
