Athene is a stylish contemporary font for the fashion forward bride. It can be used in many ways, particularly as a display font, as it comes in both upper and lower case. Do be careful when printing special effects, however, as some of the lines are quite thin. Your printer will be able to advise you.

These show-stopping dresses will help you to hold your own against sleek cityscapes and historical landmarks. We love playful and chic lace mini dresses with removable ball gown attachments, as well as structural corsets softened with floral appliqués and intricate beadwork. Just because you’re tying the knot in the tropics does not mean you have to sacrifice style. Keep things cool with billowy skirts in layers of soft tulle and chiffon, or even peek-a-boo lace in soft sea colours. The temperature might drop, but your style rating doesn’t have to. Heat things up in a long-sleeved gown with a neckline that dips right down to the waist. Instead of gloves, keep your arms warm with removable sleeves in delicate lace and intricate beadwork. We love that you can keep your jewels at home and simply opt for a crystalencrusted top that would look stunning paired with a structured duchess satin skirt. rustic chic
It is true that when a venue is beautiful, very little needs to be done, which frees you up to enjoy the process. “The real planning did not start until four months out from the date, which was a little nerveracking for me, but as soon as we started, Beyond Events, our planner, just never missed a beat,” said Linh. “The day went smoothly and I did not have a care in the world thanks to their planning and execution on the day. “I was going for an ethereal, rustic chic garden theme. My bridal bouquet was cream roses, white carnations, dusty miller leaves, silver brunia and pink baby roses. The stems were tied with hessian and lace. The bridesmaids were in lilac dresses.”

khayangan estate, uluwatu This luxury villa estate is situated on the edge of a cliff, with a stunning view of the Indian Ocean and a private white sand beach. “We settled on Bali; not too far from Melbourne, not too pricey for our guests, and our marriage would also be legally recognised in Australia. We travelled there one year in advance to scout out venues and meet with potential wedding planners. “We inspected a total of eight venues, which were all breathtaking, but the last venue, Khayangan Estate, left us speechless. It was a good five minutes of silence before we could pick up our jaw off the floor and we realised ‘this is the one’. It had a modern rustic feel with perfectly manicured gardens and panoramic views of the ocean. It was beyond perfect!”
CEREMONY This is a destination wedding at its best. The ceremony was set on a cliff overlooking the sea, with perfect weather, nice blue skies and a gentle wind. The aisle was covered in white rose petals and the couple got married under a bamboo pergola with ivory draped sheets. Their vows are beautiful to our ears. The respect and protective love that they have for each other definitely moved us to the verge of tears. Linh: “The most memorable moment for me on the day was undoubtedly the moment I walked down the aisle towards my gorgeous husbandto-be, who started to tear up when he first saw me. As clichéd as it sounds, it was as though we were the only two people in that moment and my nerves completely disappeared.”

RECEPTION One of the most mesmerising parts of having an outdoor wedding in Bali is the chance to enjoy a beautiful sunset. Needless to say, the changing colours of the sky are stunning. For their reception, the couple went for a Viking table arrangement with natural burlap and ivory lace table runners, mismatched vases, lots of candles in different sized jars and floral arrangements. Unless the ladies were to dance barefoot (which wouldn’t have been a bad idea), it was also necessary for them to include a dance floor. “One of the highlights of the reception was our first dance to ‘Love is Easy’, performed by my siblings. The speeches, heartfelt, hilarious, creative and inappropriate, were really the perfect way to end the night.”

feminine romance Taking inspiration from Kate Moss’ romantic soft palette wedding theme and Tori Praver’s boho casual wedding theme, the bride worked with a pastel colour scheme that ranged from pale pink to light mint. We love how she used soft tones so as not to overpower the natural beauty of the venue. Everything from the boho inspired bridal bouquet to the illustrated wedding stationery were created in the same tones. The bridal gown and bridesmaids’ dresses were also made from soft fabrics, adding to the feminine and romantic look. “We started planning around 14 months before the wedding. We went to Bali around seven times to arrange the details of our wedding. It was lots of work but also lots of fun!”

CEREMONY Ricarda and Erik don’t see their friends and families often as they live on the other side of the world, and 88 of their guests made the effort to fly in and celebrate this special occasion with them. The best part about a destination wedding is the chance to escape the buzz and noise of town and for everyone to have a good break from work – and this place allowed that. “We wanted lots of flowers that weren’t primly arranged. I was particularly fond of my wedding flower arch. My Pinterest board must have had hundreds of them, and yet the one we designed together with the florist is my absolute favourite.”

WEATHER The weather is something that nobody can control, and you’ll need to come to terms with the unpredictability of it if you want an outdoor wedding. The worst thing you can do is get all hung up on the weather and miss your special moment. You can plan your wedding all your want, but when the big day comes, enjoy it – rain or shine. Your wedding will be beautiful if you want it to be. “My favourite part was the ceremony, with the rain creating a misty and almost magical atmosphere, and during this moment I felt like the world had stood still. The entire weekend was filled with love, laughter and beauty, and we couldn’t have asked for more. We both said that we wouldn’t change a single thing about our wedding; we loved every part of it.”
LOVE STORIES
RECEPTION The dinner reception was held at Uma by COMO, followed by dancing. The couple and their guests took up all 46 rooms at the hotel, which meant the space was truly theirs alone that weekend. The bride turned up wearing a flower wreath for her reception. The simple boho rustic look included wooden Chiavari chairs that went perfectly well with the wooden textured tables. Hanging fairy lights lit up the venue and added a dreamy feel to it all. Truly, the chance to share meals, good times and laughter for a whole weekend is just one of the many wonderful reasons a destination wedding is so much more meaningful and memorable.

CEREMONY The Morabito Art Villa, Bali certainly lived up to its name – everything was as pretty as a piece of artwork. The undeniable natural beauty at the venue, plus the sound of crashing waves and the light ocean breeze, all combined to provide the most idyllic setting for saying “I do”. “The weather was sunny yet breezy, and the fact that we could gather with family and friends from all over – Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Thailand, Philippines, Vietnam, Germany, Netherlands, USA and Australia – made it all the more special.” Vintage crates and carefully selected details made up the lounge area for the ceremony, contrasting beautifully with the summery flora and leafy greens.
RECEPTION The floral and rustic theme set a casual yet elegant mood for the guests, with the bridal couple opting for long farm tables instead of the usual formal round table arrangement. “Instead of having a formal seating arrangement, we wanted the party to be relaxed, where everyone could chat to each other.” Gorgeous foliage and flowers were fully utilised as decorations and as centrepieces for the tables, while the naked wedding cake by Crème de la Crème was topped simply with roses, leaves and a cake topper that spelled out “love”. Fairy lights and sparklers added a festive touch to the cosy outdoor party, and it’s no wonder there was plenty of dancing, singing and love to go around.

ethereal elegance You can never go wrong with a timeless all-white wedding. The key to doing a white on white theme is to play with patterns and textures, and this bride definitely nailed it. Looking effortlessly elegant in her bespoke wedding dress, complete with matching veil and an amazing train, Febe had all eyes on her as she walked down the aisle. The mismatched bridesmaids’ dresses, though all white, featured various styles, including ruffles and peplum cuts with unusual pleats and folds. Febe: “The inspiration was simple: nature’s beauty meets ethereal elegance – simplistic, subtle yet stylish.”

CEREMONY On that day, the sky was blue and the view of the Indian Ocean was mesmerising. The ceremony commenced during sunset, the space so aptly named ‘Cliffed-edge Sunset Cabana’ filled with white blooms and petals along the aisle. Febe: “On the day of our wedding, our décor was a portrayal of subtle elegance and the pureness of white. Surrounded by a handful of people who matter most in our lives, we exchanged our vows for life: from now till eternity. Nothing could have been more perfect.” The couple kept the wedding small, only 50 guests, which allowed for really personal touches such as customising a box of beautiful favours for each of their loved ones.

RECEPTION Filled with white flowers and tea lights, the venue was set for a warm and cosy affair. The lace table liner was simple yet gorgeous, and the laser cut boxes for the favours reminded us somewhat of the elements on Febe’s dress. “We always intended for it to be personal, right from the very beginning. Each and every little thing about this wedding is a reflection of us. We knew exactly what we wanted: a wedding stripped to its very core, the union of two souls and a celebration of love, no glitz and glam. Instead of the typical Indonesian wedding with thousands of guests and the fanfare, ours was an intimate affair with our closest friends and family, a personal sweet memory that will last for years to come.”
