HELLO MR. SENATOR PAT Mc GUIRE He Will Serve The Remainder of Term and Run For Election in November The announcement by Illinois State Senator Arthur J. (A.J.) Wilhelmi that he was about to resign his Illinois Senate seat came as an unexpected surprised to thousands of loyal supporters. Some believed Wilhelmi might one day serve as Governor of the state. That is behind him now as Senator Wilhelmi slips into the seat of Vice President of the Illinois Hospital Association. The Will County Democratic Organization sorted through the eligible possibilities to be for appointment to Wilhelmi’s 43rd District seat and came up with an individual who has the education, experience and dedication to duty to become the best choice to fill that seat. That person is Pat McGuire former Will Senator Pat McGuire County Treasurer and educator. Pat McGuire is an intellectual who is attuned to the needs of the community and who will likely be a strong voice for education and families in the State Senate. McGuire is a quiet, reserved individual who often shies away from cameras but who will have little choice now but to be exposed to more than he may relish. Illinois has lost a dedicated, honest, sincere family man who carefully pondered the consequences of every bill on which he had to vote. With Senator Wilhelmi it was always a question of how his vote on any issue might affect those whom he was representing. When he announced his departure

from the senate many were dismayed at his leaving; it seemed he was leaving a void that would be very difficult indeed to fill The county has, however, many individuals who might have replaced Senator Wilhelmi and many names were rumored as front runners including the son of the current County Executive Lawrence (Larry) Walsh. In the end there was little competition as Pat McGuire, an individual all the members of the party knew and liked, emerged as the leading contender. No one could question McGuire’s abilities, his sincerity, nor his honesty and integrity; he was in the end the best possible choice to replace his likewise honest predecessor. McGuire brought changes to the Will County Treasurer’s office during his one term as treasurer, changes that simplified procedures and offered opportunities to people to save money where they may have once overlooked savings. McGuire lost his office to Steve Weber the current office holder in 2010. There is no doubt Pat McGuire will bring a strong voice to the Senate and he will likely bring changes along with that representation.
