New collaboration of two pattern powerhouses

Newmor are well known for championing British design, whether that’s their own studio or through their amazing Designer collaborations. Their latest collection with Print Pattern Archive reimagines historical designs, bringing a fresh twist to timeless classics.
The six new designs are an eclectic mix of styles that demonstrate the power of this partnership. Together, Newmor and PPA have revitalised heritage patterns. We caught up with Rose Campbell, Head of Design and Marketing at Newmor, and Cheryl O’Meara, Founder and Co-Director of PPA to hear more.
“Pattern has the power to evoke emotions. Whether you’re designing for a 5-star hotel, workplace, or healthcare, the clever use of pattern and colour are essential components in creating memorable spaces that resonate and inspire us. I have loved working with PPA on this diverse mix of adaptable designs,” said Rose Campbell.
Cheryl O’Meara adds, “In the world of interior design, pattern, colour and heritage are the heartbeats of transformation, breathing life and narrative into space. Our new collection speaks volumes, the six designs are an eclectic mix of heritage and modernity – bringing the hip into heritage.”
The six new designers are:
Gilded Garden - A gilded cornucopia of lush botanical flora and fauna full of intricate detail. The mylar base elevates this design bringing the organic elements to life as the light catches them!
Shikoku - Delicate etchings capture the tranquil scenic beauty of this Japanese island’s botanical wonders. Evoking a sense of peace and harmony in any space.
The Persian Painter - Arts and Crafts-inspired florals, vibrant pomegranates, delicate moths and birds sit gracefully, adding to the warm and enchanting ambiance of this archive musing.
Vintage Verdure - An enchanting reinterpretation of 16th-century Flemish verdure tapestries. The woollen embossed base adds real depth and a tactile quality to enhance the design.

Mythical Dynasty - Mythical creatures converge with the rich tapestries of Russian folk art. Each tile reveals burnished metallic magic, where majestic dragons and graceful phoenixes are framed amidst celestial patterns.
Optic Tropic - A futuristic fusion of oriental allure and geometric grandeur. This ornate structured trellis is softened by the barely there whisps of bamboo shoots peeping through and delicate shimmer of mylar.
Cheryl O’Meara shared her development journey for the new collection, “Last summer, I spent time in the Far East visiting family in Singapore. It was such an inspiring melting pot of Eastern and Western culture and history, with futuristic organic architecture entwined with lush tropical foliage. There is really no other place like it on earth where the future meets the past in such synergy and celebration. It was fresh in my creative energy as I started to design this collection, so it’s no wonder we have everything from French verdure tapestry to Japanese ethereal scenes”.
This seeming paradox in styles is PPA’s signature approach to design. Their archive houses antique gems from every culture that inspire design direction. Over a decade in the industry, PPA has inspired and
created designs for hundreds of brands across fashion and home, including industry titans such as Alexander McQueen and Soho House.
Cheryl O’Meara explains why the collaboration with Newmor is particularly significant and how PPA approached the project, “Having spent years working behind the scenes as ‘the industry’s best-kept secret’, it feels lovely to step out from behind the curtain and have the opportunity to debut our own creations. Having a blank canvas was quite a new experience, so we just went with our intuition and didn’t overthink it. Kerri and I found ourselves transported to magical spaces, imagining who was there and what they were doing, how they were feeling. Then we would look through the archive for wallpapers and fabrics inspired by the aesthetic and mood of the magic. It was so exciting to see the first samples come to life. From imagination to paper, to computer to real life, we never tire of seeing ideas come to reality”.
Rose Campbell explains why Newmor selected PPA for their newest collaboration, “The first time I met Cheryl and Kerri I knew they would be a great fit for Newmor and bring something really unique to our range. Their contemporary heritage vibe, or ‘hipstorical’ aesthetic as PPA say was exactly what we were looking for and seeing the archive for the first time gave me a tingle down my spine! Cheryl and Kerri have done a fabulous job pulling the designs together, paired with Newmor’s expertise in choosing the right bases from metallics to silk effects really made the designs sing - it’s where the alchemy happened, and the collection came together. It’s been an absolute pleasure working with them both on this project”.

In the project pictured, starting from an architect’s hand-drawn sketch. Firman were responsible for developing the design using a full turn-key approach. This includes the full structural and fabrication design drawings, manufacturing all the glass and metalwork components in-house and the installation using highly experienced operatives.
The project consisted of a three-story, all-glass staircase, utilising a structural glass stringer and core. glass stair treads and a fully concealed structural steelwork package.

A host of stars and celebrities turned out for the launch of a new collaboration between luxury bed maker DUXIANA and Hi-fi giants Bang and Olufsen.
The launch, at the DUXIANA show in Marylebone, London, attracted the world-renowned chef Aldo Zilli, TV presenter and psychotherapist Melinda Messenger, Spurs football legends Ossie Ardiles and Ledley King and pop stars Ben Ofoedu of Phats and Small and Angie Brown.
Soul singer Angie Brown, who had a string of hits in the 90’s, namely “I’m Gonna Get You” performed on the night and said: “This bed is amazing, it’s made for loving!”

Holiday Inn Oxford unveils £12million extension block

The Holiday Inn Oxford has unveiled a £12million extension block including 66 additional bedrooms, new meeting facilities and a locally inspired courtyard mural featuring some of the biggest films set in Oxford, following growing demand from tourists and businesses in the area.
The extension block features its own reception area and check-in desk for full on-site support for guests and delegates. The homely new bedrooms feature modern interiors and amenities with calming neutral colours plus warm pops of colour and locally inspired artwork. Designed with tourists and business guests in mind there is space to relax or work with a comfortable sofa and spacious desk, with many rooms featuring scenic green views. Family and accessible rooms are also available.
The new meeting and event room can be adapted for a wide range of business or social occasions with space for 100 guests with the latest audio-visual equipment, full catering and on-site parking.
Holiday Inn Oxford guests can discover a bespoke mural in the extension block courtyard, designed by local artist Chrissy Grainger from Indigo Art, with inspiration drawn from a wide range of blockbuster films shot nearby in the historic city. The colourful and vibrant abstract piece features key details from iconic movies including Harry Potter, X-Men: First Class, Saving Private Ryan, Brideshead Revisited, 102 Dalmatians, The Italian Job, A Fish Called Wanda and Howards End. Eagle-eyed movie buffs can enjoy spotting and linking the artist impression references to their favourite films and visit the nearby locations of where they were shot.
Gavin Webster, General Manager for the Holiday Inn Oxford Hotel, commented: “We are delighted to unveil this new extension block, it blends seamlessly with the rest of the upgraded hotel with thoughtful design elements, both practical and visual. Following on from the recent successful Open Lobby refurbishment in the main building, the additional investment to the extension block will greatly expand
the hotels services, allowing them to cater for the growing demand of tourists and business needs in Oxford.
According to the Oxford council, Oxford tourism numbers recorded last summer were at a staggering 8.5 million, which has surpassed pre-pandemic levels. In line with this, the area of North Oxford has ample developments in the pipeline as well as exciting new cultural offerings including a new music festival this September in Banbury. In addition, the local ‘Oxford North Project’ is well underway which will include new workspaces and labs for biomedical science, 480 new homes, public parks, shops, restaurants and much more attracting greater numbers to the area.

Adagio accelerates its franchise development

In addition to its development model based on direct leasing or management contract, Adagio is strengthening its growth through the franchise segment with the openings of the Adagio Access Rouen Center Cathédrale, the Adagio Access Porte de Camargue, and the Adagio Access Brussels Airport. The Adagio franchise network has quadrupled in 6 years, going from 5 franchised aparthotels in 2018 to 28 today, i.e., nearly 20% of the sites operated under the Adagio brand. A fourth opening will take place this year, this time in Master Franchise, with the Adagio Original Abidjan Marcory, the group’s first site to open its doors in sub-Saharan Africa.
The development of the franchise is proof that the aparthotel concept defended by Adagio has found its place in the hospitality offering. Indeed, the Adagio brand and the tools that allow franchisees to be its ambassadors are attracting more and more partners in the sector wishing to expand their hotel portfolio and their activities in an agile manner. Resulting in Adagio
receiving many expressions of interest from potential partners during the last International Hospitality Investment Forum (IHIF) which was held in Berlin from 15th – 17th April, and during the congress of the
Accor Franchise Association (AFA), which took place last March in Antibes.
The development of franchising constitutes one of the axes of the Next Adagio strategic plan: in the coming years, 2/3 of openings, both in France and abroad, will be carried out using this model, with the objective to reach a percentage of franchises of 35% before 2030.
For this, Adagio will be able to rely on the Accor group, a 50% shareholder, which benefits from a Master Franchise partnership strengthening the growth of the Adagio network beyond its geographical zones, particularly in more distant locations: subSaharan Africa, the Middle East or Asia. This mode of operation will in particular make it possible to create a “combo” offer bringing together two brands (Adagio and another brand from the Accor group) within the same walls, allowing the manager to mutualize areas dedicated to customers or to technical facilities, and to optimise costs.
The strategy of using franchising as a growth driver consolidates Adagio’s economic model; and the balance between the various modes of operation ensures at the same time rigorous management of the brand, the development of innovative concepts like the coliving offer tested in Adagio Original Paris Bercy and soon deployed in Adagio Original London Whitechapel (both directly operated by Adagio), the permanent transmission of knowledge and also faster
development of the number of sites under the Adagio brand, thanks to the help of partners.

Mitu Chowdhury was born and brought up n Sylhet, Bangladesh n 1964 He went to he local school and hen studied science at he MC College and ory and sociology at MC College, Sylhet After graduating he left for England and settled in Maidstone, Kent joining his brother He studied BTEC business and finance at Mid Kent college in Maidstone whilst at the same time having a part time job working at the family restaurant so that he could learn the business After three years Mitu opened his first restaurant in Harrietsham and then in 1993 opened the Mughal Dynasty in Maidstone - a restaurant which he runs very successfully to this day At the same time that he was running the restaurant he also studied for an Hon ours degree in Politics at Christ Church University in Canterbury, Kent At the same time he launched a successful property development business His interest in politics led him to join the Conservative party in Maidstone where he actively campaigned on behalf of his local MP, Helen Grant He has been a member of the BCA since opening his first restaurant and was elected Vice President then Joint Chief Treasurer and, he is current running as a successful secretary general of BCA and serving the curry industry
He is focusing on efforts on tackling the current issues facing our curry industry, energy cost cap on hospitality sector, need for a reduction on VAT and freeze the Business rates and so on

When Tipu Rahman moved to the UK rom Bangladesh 30 years ago Starting with his Brother Restaurant in Leicester he that would shape his career as a chef and creator of South Asian cuisine
He established the Bangladeshi and Nepalese restaurant "Tamarind" in Northampton and went on to win numerous important honours In addition to winning "International Chef of the Year 2009–2010," Mr Rahman also accepted Lady Frazer's award for "Best Vegetarian Dish " Mr Rahman also holds the title of Official Guinness World Record Holder for the Tallest Stack of Poppadoms (2012) in addition to receiving the Midlands Curry award for "Best Restaurant in the East Midlands" and the BCA title of "National Chef of the Year 2011-2012 " Mr Rahman prepared his signature dishes for an Official Scout Jamboree formal ceremony and was requested to cook for Bangladesh Honourable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who recognises him as the country's culinary ambassador Mr Rahman is currently the President of the East Midlands Region and the Senior Vice President of the Bangladesh Caterer Association. Bringing real flavour to the table

My brand of non alcoholic beverages was born as idea in 2017, when I attended my fathers birthday party. I felt there was a gap to be filled as the drinks tasted good, were made with minimal ingredients and had benefits associated with drinking them. I wanted to take the same products and elevate them. Create the same recipes with quality ingredients, refreshing taste and wrapped in packaging that had a premium look and feel. I realised early on that I did not want to just create a drink, I wanted to create a Brand. A brand that could make a difference and leave a legacy for my children and my nephew. I researched a manufacturer, did a course on Public food Health and passed the exam. Within three months of launching, we were shortlisted for the best drinks category at the Food Matters Event in Excel: in 2020, we were shortlisted in the Fruit Juices and Mixers category, in 2021, E2 Media Food & Beverages award and I won international Business Woman’s of the Year Award 2022.
In addition to the above, we have been included in the Mah Rainey Movie and MoBo celeb Xmas hampers in 2020.
In 2022, we attended the NOPE Event in Excel London, an event we had waited to attend for 2 years. It was a great success for us, as we were finalists in our category, Best organic Drink. the following morning one of the judges visited the stand to congratulate us on creating a great drink.
In the midst of the pandemic we launched our new flavour, Butterfly Pea Flower with Juice. The new flavour was well received and we entered the product in the Great British Food awards. The judges give a high mark of 15 as an assessment, our new flavour scored
12/15, which is a great watermark that confirms we are doing the right thing with our product development.
In 2021, we worked with an up and coming Director on a movie called ‘On the Other Foot” our beverages were used as product placement in the movie and we were recognised in the credits as a partner. We will be working with the same director on his next movie which is being filmed right now. We are so excited about these partnerships. WE have a number of events coming up in the year, one of which is us being a partner of the St James House Group Platinum Jubilee Celebrations - Strive for Perfection - with the Rolls Royce Enthusiasts Club. OTC will be featured in a commemerative book that will be issued to all the owners of Rolls Royce and Bentley’ along with all of the showrooms. We have achieved a lot in the 5 years that we have been in business and we are looking forward to gaining more customers and becoming a household brand.

Rudding Park, the luxury resort in Harrogate, North Yorkshire is to open a new immersive dining experience. FIFTY TWO will open on Thursday 16 May and fresh from his appearance on this year’s Great British Menu, Adam Degg has been appointed Head Chef and Host.
Previously Head Chef at Horto, the contemporary fine dining restaurant at Rudding Park, Adam was awarded 3 AA rosettes and has worked with multiMichelin starred chefs including Tom Kerridge.
Inspired by the number of raised beds in Rudding Park Kitchen Garden, FIFTY TWO will take its cue from ‘mother nature’ with dishes created using the highest quality ingredients cultivated in the kitchen garden or selected from trusted local producers and purveyors, whilst carefully selected wines,

freshly made juices and garden-inspired cocktails complement the food.
Adam explains: “We have been developing the concept for some time and want guests to feel as though they are at a relaxed dinner party at home with great food and drink, great company and great conversation.
Given ‘the best parties always happen in the kitchen’, the space is literally an open kitchen, featuring a bespoke seven metre kitchen island. Five tables with social seating offer prime views of the action. Like a dinner party with friends, you don’t see a menu in advance and guests place their faith in the cooking skills of the host, so in this case, me and my team!
From the moment guests arrive they will be immersed in the Kitchen Garden which they can explore with a drink and snack before making their way through an espalier hornbeam hedge linking the Kitchen Garden to FIFTY TWO.
Here the evening continues with a series of dishes starting with a selection of snacks, freshly-baked bread and an assortment of plates leading up to our signature sharing dish, followed by desserts and treats.
A key part of the concept, we want guests to feel at home! We’ll have aprons on hand for those who are keen to get involved, a pack of cards to spark the ‘art of conversation‘ and over pudding, we couldn‘t resist ‘dessert‘ island disc - the chance for guests to select a track for the FIFTY TWO playlist.”
The building is made up of five shipping containers. In the spirit of its industrial beginnings, steel elements have been incorporated into the scheme with oversized raw steel window reveals to retain
the industrial character of the containers. Large picture windows and sky lights have been cut into the containers to bring the outside in and add a light and airy feel.
The Kitchen Garden is quite literally a key ingredient of the FIFTY TWO dining experience where Kitchen Gardener, Emma Pugh and her team grow over 500 different edible plants. Using organic and nodig principles, the gardeners enrich the soil with a variety of organic matter so the crops are packed with nutrients giving the freshest seasonal flavours and textures on your plate.

A Taste of Bangladesh arrives in Camden Market’s Hawley Wharf

We are thrilled to announce the launch of Dhakaah, a casual dining restaurant in Camden Market’s Hawley Wharf, which will bring the very best of Bangladeshi cuisine to a London audience. The grand opening is set for 24th July, with a series of soft launch activations in the run-up to the main event.
Dhakaah is a celebration of the street food and specialities of Bangladesh and is named after the country’s vibrant capital Dhaka. The menu is split into bar snacks, small plates and bigger plates. Open the meal with a cold beer and Fuchka, Bangladesh’s answer to Pani Puri filled with spiced potato, chickpea and spiced tamarind water; Peyaju, deliciously crisp dhal fritters or Shingara – shortcrust pastry filled
with soft potato and spiced vegetables. Bigger plates include the Beef Kathi Roll, a heavily spiced mezbani beef curry, wrapped in handmade parota; and a real highlight, the Chicken Roast, free range chicken leg, caramelised with onion, mixed nuts and cardamon forward masala spices. Assorted Kulfi will be served to round out the menu.
On the drinks side, the focus is on bringing the incredible produce of Bangladesh to a London audience. The house gin and tonic is flavoured with Bangladeshi lemon, a hybrid between lime and mandarin orange for the ultimate refreshing G&T. The Dhakaah Dirty Martini is based on Jolpai a giant olive-like fruit found across the Indian sub-continent. An own-brand range of beer is in the making to be launched soon after the restaurant opens - a perfect stand-up to the heady spices of the main menu.
Soft drinks include Lassi and the refreshing yoghurtbased drink Borhani, made with natural yoghurt, green chilli, black salt, coriander, and mint. The restaurant prioritises the use of free-range British produce, ensuring the highest quality across the menu. Some elements are sourced directly from Bangladesh, including Kalijeera rice, a small Bangladeshi variety with a distinct nutty aroma and delicate texture.
Dhakaah is part of a larger vision to bring Bangladeshi culture and its specific cuisine to the UK, highlighting the individuality and diversity of this often overlooked culture. By bringing the essence of Bangladesh to a British audience in a way that has never been done before, Dhakaah aspires to update the representation of Bangladesh in the UK and bring it into the mainstream.

Chestnut has acquired independent wine specialist Bijou Wine Merchant for an undisclosed sum, marking a significant step in Chestnut’s ongoing regional growth strategy.
Bijou, the Norfolk based trade-only independent wine merchants, bring with them a wealth of knowledge and passion of the wine industry and are known for their selection of premium wines, customer service, and partnerships with award-winning vineyards. The team bring with them over 50 years’ wine trade experience and will operate as part of Peter Graham Wines, which was itself bought by Chestnut in 2023.
Philip Turner, Founder and CEO of Chestnut, says the move demonstrates the company’s commitment to the wine arm of its growing regional business.

Nikhil Mahale appointed as Head Chef of Farzi London

This summer marks a new direction for Haymarket’s Farzi who have announced that the acclaimed Nikhil Mahale will be taking over as the new Head Chef of the credited modern Indian restaurant.
With over 23 years’ experience in the hospitality industry, Nikhil’s career has spanned continents beginning with his work in Mumbai, perfecting the diverse multi-cultural flavours whilst developing his modern edge and technical efficiency. Nikhil begun his professional career at Azok in Mumbai where he worked with the first Indian Michelin Star ChefVineet, hailed for his experimental fine-dining Indian food, a style which Nikhil adopted, developed and will be implementing at Farzi.
Since then, Nikhil moved to London in 2010 with a wealth of experience under his belt and took on notable Chef, Brand Design Chef, and Consultant roles. Richmond is about to get a new ‘favourite local’ when modern pasta restaurant, Noci, opened its doors back in May. Glass is an ideal material for creating an alluring hospitality setting, thanks to its versatility, practicality and long-lasting beauty. Naturally, in a catering environment, a wipe clean surface is always a bonus, but glass comes with other properties that make it a wise choice for hotels, restaurants and spas.
Glass balustrades to protect outdoor guests, providing shielding from the wind without blocking the view, are rapidly becoming a favourite option. More hardwearing than fabric screening, they can be left out all year round, allowing the rapid addition of extra covers whenever the weather allows. However, we can also use glass balustrades to create defined zones within larger spaces, to create coffee shops or cafes within atriums, for example.
Using modern glass processing technology, we can go a step further than screening, by using technical interlayers laminated between two panes of glass. This makes for an extremely robust, secure barrier, but also allows us to add further properties such as sound attenuation, or privacy. Using an advanced ESG Switchable LCD interlayer, privacy is controllable at the touch of a button. Turn the small current on for transparent, and off for opaque.
