LAST MATCH RECAP Thorns FC rallied from an early first-half deficit against the Orlando Pride, receiving goals from Lindsey Horan and Christine Sinclair to capture a 2-1 win in the club’s 2018 home opener on April 15. Trailing 1-0 after a 20th minute goal, Horan answered to equalize in the 28th minute, assisted by Sinclair, and Sinclair scored the game-winner in the 39th minute, assisted by Horan, to secure the victory. After conceding the opening goal of the match, Portland did not surrender a shot on target for the remainder of the match, finishing with an 8-1 advantage in shots on goal.

THE MONTH OF APRIL Portland is 9-1-4 during the month of April over the last five seasons. At home, Thorns FC are unbeaten in April with a mark of 7-0-0. Since the start of the 2016 season, Portland has allowed just one goal at home during the month of April, outscoring opponents 5-1 during that span, including a pair of shutouts in the last two home matches.

MATCH PREVIEW Thorns FC remain at home, playing the second of back-to-back home matches at they play host to the Washington Spirit on Friday, April 20, at Providence Park; kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. (Pacific). Friday’s match is the first of three between Portland and Washington during the regular season, and is the only match between the two sides at Providence Park. Thorns FC won both matches against the Spirit in 2017 at home, outscoring Washington 6-1 in those two matches. In the last meeting with the Spirit at Providence Park, Christine Sinclair scored two goals, while defender Emily Sonnett tallied a goal in a 4-0 win on September 2. Sinclair has three goals in her last three regular-season home matches.

NO PLACE LIKE HOME Playing their home matches at downtown Portland’s iconic Providence Park, Thorns FC have led the league in attendance in each of their first five NWSL seasons. Globally, Thorns FC have the highest attendance of any women’s professional team in the world, averaging 17,653 fans in their fifth season in the league in 2017. On Sept. 30, 2017, Thorns FC recorded their fourth sellout in club history. Portland played host to Orlando in its home opener on April 15, 2018, drawing a crowd of 16,466 - the second largest crowd for a Thorns FC home opener in club history.
