THORNS ON INTERNATIONAL DUTY Several Thorns FC players featured for their respective national teams during the most recent FIFA window. Lindsey Horan earned her 50th cap with the USWNT, starting and logging 45 minutes in a 1-0 win over China on June 7. Horan and Tobin Heath both made substitute appearances in a 2-1 on June 12 as Heath scored the game-winner. Christine Sinclair featured in an international friendly against Germany, earning her 268th cap in a 3-2 loss. Sinclair also tallied her 173rd career international goal and needs just 12 more goals to surpass Abby Wambach as the all-time leading goal scorer in the history of international women’s soccer. Ana Crnogorcevic helped Switzerland stay atop their group in World Cup qualifying, tallying a goal in a 5-0 win against Belarus on June 12.

ROAD FORM Over the last three seasons, Thorns FC have won 10 road matches, equaling the second most road wins of any team in the NWSL during that span, while also recording the second-fewest losses (7). Portland has earned at least one point in seven of its last eight road matches (4-1-3). Christine Sinclair has three goals and two assists in her last eight road matches, dating back to the 2017 season. Through five road games this season, five different players have tallied goals for Portland: Ana Crnogorcevic, Tobin Heath, Ellie Carpenter, Sinclair and Lindsey Horan.

MATCH PREVIEW Following a league-wide break for international matches, Portland Thorns FC return to action with consecutive road matches, starting with a game against the Chicago Red Stars on June 16 at Toyota Park. Saturday’s match marks the second of three meetings between Thorns FC and the Red Stars. The two teams squared off in the second week of the season as Portland recorded a 3-2 win at Toyota Park behind a brace from Christine Sinclair and a goal from Lindsey Horan. Thorns FC will play three of their next four matches on the road and six of their next 10 away from Providence Park, including three straight road matches from July 21-Aug. 11.

NO PLACE LIKE HOME Playing their home matches at downtown Portland’s iconic Providence Park, Thorns FC have led the league in attendance in each of their first five NWSL seasons. Globally, Thorns FC have the highest attendance of any women’s professional team in the world, averaging 17,653 fans in their fifth season in the league in 2017. On Sept. 30, 2017, Thorns FC recorded their fourth sellout in club history. Portland played host to Orlando in its home opener on April 15, 2018, drawing a crowd of 16,466 - the second largest crowd for a Thorns FC home opener in club history.
