Forwards Christine Sinclair and Nadia Nadim both scored in the same match for a second straight game, tallying a pair of first-half goals, while midfielder Amandine Henry made her home debut and first start and also tallied her first career assist for the club. Sinclair scored Portland’s earliest goal in a game this season in the sixth minute of the match, pouncing a pass near the goal line and sending her shot into the back of the net. In the 25th minute, Thorns FC doubled their lead with a goal off a corner kick. Henry got on the end of Heath’s corner kick, sending a header towards the goal and Nadim was there to flick the ball into the back of the net. The goal was Nadim’s third of the season. Additionally, goalkeeper Michelle Betos registered a shutout, making three saves in the match.
