ROAD FORM Over the last three seasons, Thorns FC have won nine road matches, equaling the most road wins of any team in the NWSL during that span. Portland has earned at least one point in six of its last seven road matches (3-1-3). Christine Sinclair has three goals and two assists in her last six road matches, dating back to the 2016 season. Through four road games this season, four different players have tallied goals for Portland: Ana Crnogorcevic, Tobin Heath, Sinclair and Lindsey Horan.

LAST MATCH RECAP Portland surrendered a pair of goals in the first 25 minutes of the match. Christine Sinclair pulled a goal back in the 23rd minute to make it a 2-1 match, but Thorns FC were unable to overcome an early deficit, falling to the Orlando Pride on May 12 at Providence Park. Thorns FC finished the match with a 24-13 edge in shots. Defender Emily Menges made her season debut in the match, logging 45 minutes, while defender Ellie Carpenter earned her first start of the season and made her first appearance at Providence Park, playing 82 minutes in the match. Tobin Heath tallied her first assist of the season on Sinclair’s goal, but Portland had two goals disallowed after an offside call on Mallory Weber in the seventh minute and foul on a 50-50 challenge that saw Midge Purce’s goal disallowed in the 47th minute.

MATCH PREVIEW Portland Thorns FC will play three of their next five matches on the road, starting with a road match against the Washington Spirit on Saturday, May 19. It marks the second of three meetings between Thorns FC and the Spirit this season. Saturday’s match is the first of two meetings between Portland and Washington at Maureen Hendricks Field at the Maryland SoccerPlex. Thorns FC are unbeaten in their last three matches against Washington (2-0-1). Portland is looking for its first win against the Spirit on the road since 2014. Portland is looking to extend its unbeaten road streak to four games, while Washington is winless in its last five matches.

NO PLACE LIKE HOME Playing their home matches at downtown Portland’s iconic Providence Park, Thorns FC have led the league in attendance in each of their first five NWSL seasons. Globally, Thorns FC have the highest attendance of any women’s professional team in the world, averaging 17,653 fans in their fifth season in the league in 2017. On Sept. 30, 2017, Thorns FC recorded their fourth sellout in club history. Portland played host to Orlando in its home opener on April 15, 2018, drawing a crowd of 16,466 - the second largest crowd for a Thorns FC home opener in club history.
