Tattooed In His Hands

Tattooing is becoming more prevalent in our American culture. A recent study reported that about 36% of Americans ages 18-29 have at least one tattoo, and they enjoy talking about them.

Waiting in line to check out at a grocery it is not unusual to noticed a skull and crossbones tattoo on the arm of the man in front of you. His tattoo is a reminder to him of some time in his life.

Some get a tattoo every time there’s a new thing to remember.”

Remember. That’s the word all these tattoos are painted around. All of these Since You’ve maybe have always been curious individuals wanted visual reminders to remember. about why people get tattoos you asked them about his. They may have pointed to the skull and When I see these tattoos that are making all kinds crossbones and said, “This identified me with my of statements, I am reminded that God’s tattoo is gang when I was in prison.” He snickered a little also making a statement: “See, I have engraved and added, “I’ll always ’member my behind- you on the palms of my hands so that I will never bars buddies.” forget you.” God remembers all the names of the stars he’s created, and he’s reassuring us that A biker behind you pulled up his T shirt to show he remembers all of our names by reminding a rose tattooed on his chest. “It was my old lady’s us where our names are ... in the palms of his favorite flower,” he said. He got quiet, rubbed hands. over the rose, and slightly mumbled, “She’s dead now, but I’ll never forget her.” God remembers that we belong to him, he remembers to protect and provide for us, and Listening nearby, an elderly gentleman began when we have a need, he remembers to guide rubbing the number tattooed on his arm and us. And also, painful as it may be, when we need said, “I won’t forget Auschwitz.” correction, he remembers to discipline us. The prophet Isaiah probably had the same idea When the Lord just wants to express his love and when he wrote: Devotion to us, his omnipotent hands reach down from heaven and embrace us. “I [God] will never forget you! See, I have We feel him holding us close engraved you on the palms of my hands.” and then hear him so softly According to some theologians he was alluding whisper, to the Jewish custom, possibly drawn from Exodus of puncturing their hands with a symbol of their city and temple to reassure Israel that “See, I have tattooed you on the God had promised never to forget his people palms of my hands.” (Isaiah 49:14,16). BY JOYCE ELAINE

DIARY OF A BIKER CHIC believe these five things happened for a reason and it’s more than just coincidence that the things started out small and minor and got worse as they went on.

July 13, 2016 – Suffering from PMS I suppose you are eager to read all about my trip to NC for the tail of the dragon. I was eager to tell you about the trip…but it didn’t happen. Dave and I were scheduled to leave on Sunday June 19th. The days leading up to the trip brought issues that made me say out loud, “Maybe we should cancel the trip.” We didn’t though. Here’s a nice little time line of what happened: Tuesday, June 14th: We went to my friend’s house to get his trailer. He told us his lights on the trailer weren’t working, he didn’t have a spare tire, and the ball bearings needed to be packed. We decided to try to hook the trailer up to Dave’s truck to see if it was just a wiring issue, only to find out that his wires had been pulled. The next day, Dave got wires put in and we decided to rent a trailer from U-Haul. Two problems solved…two warning signs also ignored. Friday, June 17th: Someone broke into Dave’s truck overnight and tried to steal it. For whatever reason, they were not able to steal it. Dave walked out to his truck Saturday afternoon to find his doors open and his ignition beat up. It was still drivable. This was when I said maybe we should cancel the trip. Three things had already tried to stop us from the trip but we overcame them and ignored the warning signs. Sunday, June 19th: Time to leave for NC. Dave pulls into my driveway with the U-Haul trailer attached and his bike loaded up. We only had to load my bike and then hit the road. I’ve never put my bike on a trailer before as I usually just ride it everywhere. We were towing the bikes for two reasons: one because we only had 5 days so we figured if we got there in one day, we’d have 3 days to ride, and have a day to drive back, and two because Dave has only been riding for a couple of months. I felt uneasy about riding my bike up the ramp of the trailer and I thought pushing it up would be too hard. Ignoring my instincts, I rode the bike up the ramp. After my front tire was on the bed of the trailer, Dave screamed at me to shut off my bike. I had hit something on the bottom of my bike and oil was leaking out everywhere. I shut off the bike, backed it down the trailer, and didn’t know what to say. Being a Sunday, I knew there were no shops open that could repair the bike, so we decided to leave the bike, only take his, and I’d just rent one when we got down to NC. I was bummed. I was looking forward to having my bike in a new state. Nothing we could do so on we went while ignoring another warning sign. Three hours into our trip, Dave’s truck begins making a knocking noise and his oil pressure gauge went down to zero. We pulled over and waited for over an hour for a tow truck to get there…on the side of an interstate. I decided then it would be best to cancel the trip. My hotel let me off the hook with only a $50.00 fee. Something or someone was trying to tell us not to go on this trip. I Thunder Roads®Mid-Atlantic

To make a really long story short, we were stranded in Staunton, VA over night because the Merchant shop couldn’t look at the truck until the next morning. The next morning, we were told the oil pump went out and the engine was beyond repair. Now we had no way of even getting back home and a tow would have cost close to $1,000.00. Dave ended up buying a 2013 Nissan Frontier truck. We went back home, unpacked our bike gear and packed our beach gear and went to Ocean City instead. One thing I will say was that everyone we encountered in Staunton, VA were so very nice to us from the Virginia Highway guy who stayed with us while we were broken down, to people at the Merchant shop, to the Hampton Inn who gave us free cookies the night we stayed there, to the Paul Obaugh dealership where Dave bought his truck. Shout out to Jake, the salesman. He was fairly new and this was only his 2nd sell but he was a great guy. I guess we should be glad we were stranded in such a friendly city. We plan to go back there for a little vacation next summer and do some riding. When we got back home that Friday, I filed a claim with my insurance company. To make another really long story short, I had my bike towed to the wonderful Ellicott City Motorsports and they told me I actually cracked my engine. My bike might be totaled. I didn’t have my bike for Gettysburg bike week last weekend. I went without it and that was beyond weird. And right now, I still have not heard from my claims adjuster to tell me if the bike is totaled or if they are going to fix it. I’ve been sitting around in the dead of the summer, riding season, with no bike to ride. At this point in time, it’s been a month since I’ve been riding. I now know what withdrawals are like during the summer. I never ever thought I’d have PMS (Parked Motorcycle Syndrome) during the summer…and let me tell you….it’s pure hell! I’m sorry I don’t have any exciting stories to share and no new riding adventures. We will try the NC trip again next summer when we can take at least a week off and take our time riding down there instead of towing. I’ll never tow again. As always, I think everything that happens to you always has a lesson attached to it. My lessons from all this are: NEVER tow your bike. Also, when you have a big feeling that something is keeping you from doing something, don’t question it. Go with your gut instinct and cancel your plans. Had I done that when I first thought it, I would still have my bike right now. And lastly, the biggest lesson of all from all of this is that my insurance company sucks and it’s time to find a new one! Hopefully next month will be better and I’ll have some happy stories for you. Thanks for reading and ride safe!

To all Motorcycle Riders and Enthusiasts, ABATE of Maryland, Inc. would like to clarify that the Mountain Chapter is ABATE of Maryland, Inc’s sanctioned Chapter representing Garrett and Alleghany Counties. It is very important that the motorcycling community know that “ABATE of Western Maryland” is not affiliated with ABATE of Maryland, Inc. in any capacity. When many in the motorcycling community hear the name “ABATE of Maryland” they associate that with motorcycle rights and they are correct. ABATE of Maryland, maintains an office in Annapolis, MD to be close to all our legislators during the 90 days that the Maryland General Assembly is in session. Our chapters across the State are always in close communication with legislators in their districts and the office is the hub for all the chapters when they are in Annapolis. Our Mountain Chapter is no different. The members spend much time traveling back and forth to Annapolis to lobby legislators, attend hearings for bills that we requested or bills we oppose, and attend bill signings. It is this chapter, the Mountain Chapter of ABATE of Maryland, Inc., that represents your rights. So when you are attending an event that is sponsored by the Mountain Chapter be assured all funds raised are going right back to continue the fight for fair motorcycle legislation in Maryland. BOULDER: I’m Boulder and I’m looking for a forever home. I’m super playful and a lot of goofy fun to be around. Considered a big guy with a big heart, I’ve got tons of love to give. Being around people is great. Sometimes I even rub up against you like I’m a cat. I enjoy going for long walks, getting treats as rewards and meeting new 4- legged friends. Play groups with other pups are the greatest! Please stop in soon if you’re looking for a big boy like me. I’d love to meet you and see if we can be best friends forever. REY: Hi, I’m Rey. a beautiful, friendly and active lady in search of my forever home. I love going for long walks, running, and meeting new canine friends. I know how to sit and my previous owner was teaching me other commands like down, paw, and come. I enjoy food, treats and kongs. I’m also a very lovable girl who will give you kisses and put my paws on your shoulder. I have lived with two other dogs in my previous home, but I was just too energetic for them. If you need to add a four-legged friend to your household, please let it be me. I won’t disappoint!

THOR: Thor is my name. Yep, I have a mighty and powerful name like the Norse god. I am full of energy and I totally love to run or go for long walks. I’m very intelligent and know commands like “sit, lie down, and paw”. My previous owner says I even went to my crate at night when she’d say “go to bed”. I love playing with toys of any kind, especially stuffed toys and ones that squeak. In my previous home I lived with an eleven year old child.... we really enjoyed each other. I’m a fun loving canine who likes belly rubs, attention, and is just looking for a new loving forever home. See ya’ soon. DIXIE: If you are looking for a sweet, shy and laid back dog then please ask to visit with me, my name is Dixie. I can come off as very timid because I’m a little unsure still being in this environment. I’m used to being in a quiet household with older people. I believe that I would be a wonderful companion for anyone who just wants their dog to be with them all of the time. In my previous home I would sometimes play with squeaky toys or play tug o’war. Here at BHS I can normally be found laying on my comfy dog bed and watching people as they walk by...hoping they decide to adopt me so that I can be back in a loving home. Please stop in soon.

“INDIAN MOTORCYCLES BUILT IN BRITAIN?”

Classic postwar Indian Chief

BY ANDY TALLONE Classic-British-Motorcycles.com THE OTHER GUYS Indian Motorcycles was “the other American motorcycle company”, referring to Harley-Davidson. During the early 20th century, the two competed neck-and-neck in sales and on the racetrack. For several years, Indian was actually bigger than Harley-Davidson. Yet by 1950, Indian was financially on the ropes and desperate. So desperate that the plan to have the British motorcycle industry build Indians for them actually sounded like a good idea. INDIAN MOTORCYCLE HISTORY The Indian Motorcycle Company had a long, rich history dating back to 1901, pre-dating Harley-Davidson by two years. Despite being the world’s largest producer of motorcycles by Indian badges on British the 1910s, and tremendous motorcycles racing success, the company struggled financially for most of its life. During World War I, their entire production run for two model years went to the US government for the war effort. This strangled their dealer network for inventory, and many dropped out. Indian never quite recovered. Next was the Great Depression which hit them hard. By the time World War II started, they were so financially strapped that the US government decided to award almost the entire motorcycle contract to Harley, who built 90,000 WLAs and WLCs for Uncle Sam, and another 30,000 WLAs for the Soviet Union. WARTIME BLUES Military orders for Indians were very small. And they weren’t allowed to produce bikes for civilian consumption until the war ended, which cost them much-needed cash and also more dealers. They weren’t in very good shape to weather these hard times. Meanwhile Harley-Davidson was raking in the cash and sitting lots of GIs in the saddles of their military bikes, something that would help them after the war. As the result, Harley came sailing into the postwar period flush with cash, it’s factories set up to run at full capacity, ready to produce new motorcycles for all the GIs coming home with money in their pockets. Many had ridden their first Harley during the war. POSTWAR PROBLEMS It was quite the opposite for Indian. It had been a very long time since they had had a really good year. They struggled through two

wars and a depression and now they were stuck with antiquated, noncompetitive products. As Harley expanded its lineup of state-ofthe-art OHV V-twins, Indian was still using essentially the same old flathead V-twin they had introduced in 1922. And they didnʼt have the money to develop a new line of modern OHV V-twin engines that they so desperately needed, if they were to have any chance of competing with Harley-Davidson. They entered the 1950s barely standing, something had to be done if they were to survive. BRITISH DESIGN TO THE RESCUE At this same time, the motorcycle business was booming over in Great Britain. Just prior to the war, Triumph had introduced the first 500cc parallel twin and after the war, almost the entire British motorcycle industry followed suit. By 1950 the 500s were being punched out to 650s and horsepower was on the rise. Just like with the Harleys, many former GIs had been introduced to fast, light, sexy British motorcycles during the war and they wanted more. British bikes quickly caught on in America and became the Britsʼ biggest market by far. Ailing, struggling Indian Motorcycles recognized this trend and saw in it a possible shot at salvation. They believed that the future was in British-style parallel twins, similar to the Triumph Tiger or the Norton Dominator, not in big V-twins. BRITISH BANKERS TO THE RESCUE In keeping with this plan, they ceased production of the very popular Indian Scout (a flathead V-twin) after the war, replacing it with two new Indian Scouts, both British-style vertical twins, one a 249cc and the other 426cc (which they called a 440). They thought they did everything right, the bikes had Indian’s attempt at building all the right stuff. But early models a Brit bike. This is a 1949 were unreliable and the engines Indian 249cc ! Scout. were substantially smaller than their 500cc British counterparts. They bombed in the marketplace. By 1950, they’d cured most of the problems and bumped displacement to 500cc (just as the Brits bumped theirs to 650), but their reputation was already ruined and sales stalled. The last one rolled off the line in 1951. By 1953 Indian went belly-up and was now owned by the Brockhouse Corporation of Great Britain.

ROYAL ENFIELD TO THE RESCUE Royal Enfield had been building motorcycles in Britain since 1901 (bicycles since 1893) and had a good reputation for building fast, solid bikes. They never got into The 1960 Royal Enfield-Indian even had Indian-style fenders. major league production numbers though, typical of most Brit bike builders of the day, and were forever trying to find ways to expand sales. Brockhouse put low-volume Royal Enfield together with ailing Indian and a cross-pollination occurred. Brockhouse became the US distributor for Royal Enfield Motorcycles, and ordered all USmarket Royal Enfields to be rebadged as Indians. The bikes also received a cosmetic overhaul, with garish emblems, bulky fenders, big leather saddles with “tassles”, high bars and bright red paint. From 1955 through 1960 they produced, and attempted to sell these “Royal Enfield-Indians” to the American public, who simply weren’t convinced. They weren’t bad motorcycles, Royal Enfields were actually very good bikes. But the looks, and the whole idea that they were attempting to be something they were not, just turned off the buying public. Even stalwart Indian fans were disgusted. By 1961, US-bound Royal Enfields ceased to be badged as Indians, and from then on were sold in low numbers as Royal Enfields (and without all the Indian crap) until the company folded in 1970. In 1960, Brockhouse sold off Indian to AMC (Associated Motor Cycles) of Britain (who also owned Matchless-AJS and Norton, among others) who were in competition with Royal Enfield, and so quickly curtailed the use of Royal Enfield engines in Indian motorcycles. AMC sold Indian again in 1962 to Joseph Berliner who never used the trade name.

This ‘69 Indian-Enfield 750 was one of the last.

engine. Using all the same highquality, lightweight cycle gear as the 750, the Indian-Velo 500 was 45 pounds lighter than Velocette’s own Venom, which used the same engine. Velocette was another age-old British motorcycle manufacturer.

SO, LET’S TAKE COUNT... So, to recount Indian’s British connection, in 1946 they introduce their own line of vertical twins which are copies of British designs. In 1953, Indian is purchased by British investment firm Brockhouse Corporation. From 1955 to 1960, Indians are built in England by Royal Enfield Motorcycles. In 1960, British motorcycle conglomerate AMC buys Indian. From 1963 through 1970, Indian Motorcycles are built in Italy, using British motorcycle engines from both Royal Enfield and Velocette. 1970 WAS A VERY BAD YEAR And that brings us up to 1970. 1970 wasn’t a bad year for me. I loved 1970. I was a sophomore in high school, and I’d just bought my first motorcycle, so I was happy. But 1970 was not a good year for anyone associated with Indian. Royal Enfield had just been sold to Madras Motors of India (huh, another “Indian”-connection), who still builds Royal Enfields to this day in India. But all they were now building were single-cylinder bikes, so no more 750 Interceptor twins. (By the way, you what this means, right?

continued...

FLOYD CLYMER TO THE RESCUE The Indian name, now nearly worthless, went up for sale and Floyd Clymer bought it in 1963. He had made a fortune publishing Clymerʼs Motorcycle Repair Manuals, and was deeply Fancy paint & big saddles don’t an Indian make. involved in the motorcycle industry. He contracted Italian minibike makers Italjet Moto to rebadge their minibikes as the “Indian Papoose” for sale in the USA. They sold well. Next, he commissioned them to design a full-sized Indian motorcycle, built to modern standards and using a Royal Enfield 700 or 750 Interceptor twin-cylinder engine. It was a very nice machine, with top-notch features and equipment, lightweight frames, Marzocchi forks, Grimeca TLS brakes and Borrani alloy rims. They were fast, handled well and they were handsome machines. But they were expensive and so sold in low very low numbers, starting in 1963. ONE MORE TIE TO BRITAIN Clymer’s next attempt to mine the Indian name was the Indian-Velo 500. Again designed and built by Italjet to Clymer’s specifications, the new bike was built around the Velocette 500 single-cylinder Thunder Roads® Mid-Atlantic

Then Floyd Clymer died suddenly, and that was the end of this chapter in the history of Indian Motorcycles, and also the end to its “British Connection”. The Indian name traded hands several more times over the years, with a few false starts along the way. But today Indian Motorcycles is back in business and bigger than ever, building modern V-twin cruisers meant to compete with HarleyDavidson and now Victory. A happy ending for a long and sorted tale, that included a quarter-century of British influence that most people weren’t even aware of. on news broadcasts. These were our neighbors struggling to survive. These were our fellow Americans. In Rainelle, another town surrounded by mountains, where Sewell Creek meets the Meadow River, the cleanup More Rain continued. There were aid centers set up in parking lots and even one for FEMA. There were Humvees parked with soldiers inside; their gun turrets conspicuously missing their designated weapon. It began to rain, and rain hard. We pulled into a Dairy Queen parking lot and stood under an overhang as we watched it pour. It was the last thing anyone around here wanted to see. I could tell by the looks on the faces of the drivers, who lived here and who was passing through. We stopped at a mom and pop restaurant that was open on the north side of town: Alfredo’s. Not that we were all that hungry after what we saw, but we knew we’d need some energy for the ride home. Our waitress told her own accounts of her experience during the tragedy. One, including a 911 operator who hung up on one of her coworkers, who was chest deep in water in her house, because there was nothing they could do for her. This isn’t my usual riding story. Instead of trying to inspire those to live memorable and fulfilling experiences through motorcycling, I’m using this platform, and opportunity, to help raise awareness. These people didn’t sign up for this. They didn’t volunteer for military duty and ship out overseas somewhere. They were attacked indiscriminately, regardless of age, gender, or race, in their own homes by Mother Nature in one of her lethal forms. All they want, is what’s left of their lives back. Come Hell or high water, they experienced both. As a community, they are faced with the enormous task, not only of coping with terrible loss, but of rebuilding, some in impoverished areas. We, as a motorcycle community, can help. We do it all the time. Please think of them, the next time you fire up your motorcycle. Whether it be a poker run, a day ride solo, or with a group, or some other event, we can choose to ride to these areas, and spend a little cash to help our citizens get back on their feet. And anything short of that, maybe anyone reading this, will feel someone else’s pain, and reach out to them in their own way. A little help from a lot, can make a tremendous difference! Thank you for reading. Marc Ritchie aka The Road Captain Photos by Rose Grant

CHOOSING YOUR FIRST MOTORCYCLE OR TRIKE

S

o many times we hear someone say, “There are only two types of motorcycle riders, those that have dropped a bike and those that will”. This is as out dated as “All Harleys leak oil to mark their spot”. Don’t let these tales from the past limit your choices on what to purchase. When considering the purchase of your first motorcycle, some folks ask experienced riders for advice on the topic. In fact, during motorcycle rider course classes, students often ask instructors on their opinion of motorcycles for new rides. If you’re asking the question with the intention of considering the answer before you buy, here’s the advice given by some motorcycle magazine and dealers, smaller is better. However, nobody wants to hear that, and so the objections start: But my friends all say that I’ll outgrow a 600cc Ninja or a 750cc cruiser in the first season. And besides, it’ll only be good for short trips, not a cross-country jaunt. I won’t even be able to keep up with my friends on 1000cc bikes, let alone the guys on the Triumph Rocket III (at 2300cc). It’s interesting to me that the person making the argument that a smaller bike is good only for short trips is generally the same one who tells me he’ll never ride in the rain.

Rider

So it’s clear he’s never going to take a long trip, let alone the cross-country trip he believes the bike won’t handle. Or did you think that you could get from Washington DC to Colorado, or Florida, and back, without any rain?

Anyway, not one of those objections holds any water. I’ve ridden a 600 Ninja and I’m here to tell you that nobody is going to outgrow that motorcycle in a year, or five years. The same wholes true for other 600cc bikes, the R6 (Yamaha), GSXR (Suzuki), or CBR (Honda). In fact, the problem with the 600s isn’t that they’re too small for a first bike; they’re too big. The ONLY good thing about any of the 600cc sportbikes mentioned above is that choosing one for a first motorcycle is not as dumb as choosing one of their 1000cc counterparts.

TIPS

How about the cruisers? There’s no doubt that a cruiser by its nature is a far less highly-strung mount than one of the sportbikes, but they have plenty of bite. A 750cc or smaller cruiser from any of the major Japanese makers would be a fine choice in that category. If you’re a Harley fan, the 750 Street, 883 or 1200 Sportster is the entry machine, and a good choice, especially if you’re concerned about height — it has a very low seat height. Now if you are looking for something to grow into and ride for many years (at least until it’s paid off) any of the Softail family motorcycles make a great choice. If you’re concerned about being unable to keep up with an accomplished riders who are on larger, louder, faster motorcycle, you’re right; you won’t be able to keep up. They’ve been doing it longer than you have. They have experience, skills and confidence. So just deal with it, you won’t be able to keep up with an accomplished rider even if they are on a smaller machine either. You need to ride within your own abilities and limitations. If you purchase a new motorcycle from dealership, be extra careful on that first ride out of the dealership. You can find many stories about riders crashing before they get straightened out on the street. Some dealerships may offered to ride it to your home. I recommend that practice, and if the dealership won’t do it, ask an experienced friend. But remember that the motorcycle will be unfamiliar to that person also, and pick someone who has the proper respect for unfamiliar machinery. The word “trike” used to conjure images of the wackiest ‘70s customs, with luxuriant polychrome glitter paint and thousands of lights. Moustaches, tassels, and tragic belly-

shirts. And airbrushing, lots and lots of airbrushing. They were a crazy mutant of the motorcycle family, with maybe a touch of dune buggy DNA, but still part of the family. They were usually built off of a motorcycle platform, with some fiberglass kit parts and a cast-off Beetle axle. They were bad in both senses of the word. Trikes disappeared for a while, but they’re coming back. This time, though, they’re the production kind, not so much the custom kind. A few years ago, Harley brought out the Tri-Glide, a touring trike version of the Electra Glide. What could have more biker DNA than a Harley touring machine? It’s something to consider, if your knees or hips are a bit worn, damaged, if you have limited mobility or if you need the support and confidence offered by something balanced on three wheels, a trike will always be a great choice. CanAm’s Spyder trikes certainly have a sporty look. It’s a machine that may feel a little safer or easier to control than a two-wheeled bike. Whether it actually is safer or not, the perception may be what will inspire the rider to be confident on a trike. The Polaris Slingshot has joined the trike genus, but this is a bit of a different animal. With its side-by-side bucket seats and steering wheel, this has less claim, and maybe less aspiration, to be grouped with the bikes. This is more of a radical sport buggy — a three-wheeled open car, rather than a bike. Closer to a Talon or even a Morgan than a Harley. For the Spyder and the Tri-Glide, there is something quintessential that they lack: they do not lean. Leaning is so fundamental to the experience of riding, it is, in a way, what separates riding from driving. How you lean is one of the major factors that defines who you are as a biker. It is really how you express yourself and how you get your thrills. So some may conclude that any machine that doesn’t lean cannot be considered a motorcycle. If you feel the wind in your face, you have handlebars with controls and a big smile, you are ride a motorcycle. So if you decide to get a trike, test drive it, accept that is rides different from a 2-wheeled machine and practice riding it before to get out on the main roads. Another possible alternative to purchasing a trike is converting what you already ride into one. You many reputable companies the sell and install trike kits. Companies such as Lehman, California Sidecar, Motortrike and many more. If you are looking to purchase a motorcycle with a sidecar Ural has several pretty cool looking bikes to choose from. I hope I’ve been of some assistance in helping you make a choice. Feel free to visit Sunset Cycles at 9748 Stephen Decatur Hwy, unit 208, Ocean City, MD or give us a call if you have any questions at 410 390-5105. We are always ready, willing and able to help.

“Squiggy” and his wife, Joletta, are having hard financial times, so they decide she’ll become a hooker. She’s not quite sure what to do, so “Squig” says, “Stand in front of that bar and pick up a guy. Tell him a hundred bucks. If you’ve got a question, I’ll be parked around the corner.” She’s not there five minutes when a guy pulls up and says, “How much? Joletta says, “A hundred dollars.” Guy says “Dang, All I’ve got is thirty.” She says, ”Hold on.” She runs back to Squiggy and says, “What can he get for thirty dollars?” Squig ponders and says, “A hand job”. She runs back and tells the guy all he gets for thirty dollars is a hand job. He says okay, so she gets in the car, he unzips his pants, and out pops an astonishing HUGE pecker. Joletta stares at it for a minute, and then says, “I’ll be right back.” She runs back around the corner and says breathlessly, “Squig,, you reckon you can lend this guy seventy bucks?”. ____________________________________________________ A little boy and a little girl attended the same school and became friends. Every day they would sit together to eat their lunch. They discovered that they both brought chicken sandwiches every day! This went on all through the fourth and fifth grades, until one day he noticed that her sandwich wasn’t a chicken sandwich. He said, “Hey, how come you’re not eating chicken, don’t you like it anymore?” She said “I love it but I have to stop eating it.” “Why?” he asked. She pointed to her lap and said “Cause I’m starting to grow little feathers down there!”. “Let me see” he said. “Okay”, and she pulled up her skirt. He looked and said, “That’s right. You are! Better not eat any more chicken.”He kept eating his chicken sandwiches until one day he brought peanut butter. He said to the little girl, “I have to stop eating chicken sandwiches, I’m starting to get feathers down there too!” She asked if she could look, so he pulled down his pants for her. She raised her eyebrow at him and said “Oh my, it’s way too late for you! You’ve already got the neck and the gizzards.” ____________________________________________________ The football coach noticed that his star tackle, “Boner”, had so many women hanging around that he couldn’t possibly handle all of them. So one day he asked Boner “Just what the hell is your secret, kid?” Boner replies, “Well, Coach, whenever I’m about to have sex, I always whip it out and bang it on the dresser like a hammer. That numbs it up, and I can screw ‘em till they beg me to stop!” The coach went home early one day and went to the bedroom. He heard his wife in the shower. Seeing a window of opportunity, he tore off his clothes and started bangin’ the hell out of his “wanker” on the dresser. His wife stuck her head out of the shower and yells out, “That you Boner,, baby?” Come on in sugar.......the water just feels divine. ____________________________________________________ This morning on Hwy. 12, I looked over to my left and there was a woman in a brand new Cadillac doing 65 mph with her face up next to her rear view mirror, putting on her eyeliner. I looked away for a couple seconds...to continue shaving; and when I looked back she was halfway over in my lane, still working on that makeup. As a man, I don’t scare easily, but she scared me so much; I dropped my electric shaver, which knocked the donut out of my other hand. Thunder Roads®Mid-Atlantic

In all the confusion of trying to straighten out the car using my knees against the steering wheel, it knocked my cell phone away from my ear, which fell into the coffee between my legs! splashed and burned “Big Jim and the Twins”, ruined the damn phone, soaked my trousers, and disconnected an important call. Damn women drivers! ____________________________________________________ Ma was in the kitchen fiddlin’ around when she hollers out....”Pa! You need to go out and fix the outhouse!” Pa replies, “There ain’t nuthin wrong with the outhouse.” Ma yells back, “Yes there is, now git out there and fix it.” So......Pa mosies out to the outhouse, looks around and yells back, “Ma! There ain’t nuthin wrong with the outhouse! “ Ma replies, “Stick yur head in the hole!” Pa yells back, “I ain’t stickin’ my head in that hole!” Ma says, “Ya have to stick yur head in the hole to see what to fix.” So with that, Pa sticks his head in the hole, looks around and yells back, “Ma! There ain’t nuthin wrong with this outhouse!” Ma hollers back, “Now take your head out of the hole!” Pa proceeds to pull his head out of the hole, then starts yelling, “Ma! Help! My beard is stuck in the cracks in the toilet seat!” To which Ma replies, “Hurt’s, don’t it?” A Georgia preacher said to his congregation, “Someone in this congregation has spread a rumor that I had belonged to the Ku Klux Klan. It is a horrible lie and one which a Christian community cannot tolerate. I am embarrassed and do not intend to accept this. Now, I want the party who did this to stand and ask forgiveness from God and this Christian Family.” No one moved. The preacher continued, “Do you not have the nerve to face me and admit this is a falsehood? Remember, you will be forgiven, and in your heart you will feel glory. Now stand and confess your transgression.” Again all was quiet. Then slowly, a drop-dead gorgeous redhead with a body that would stop traffic rose from the third pew. Her head was bowed and her voice quivered as she spoke. “Reverend, there has been a terrible misunderstanding. I never said you were a member of the Ku Klux Klan. I simply told a couple of my friends that you were an absolute Wizard under the sheets.” If you’re headed to Sturgis & in any bar, stand up & yell out........THUNDER ROADS ROCK N’ ROLL!! NEW IMPROVED LANE SPLITTING BILL AMENDED IN CALIFORNIA Motorcyclists in California are allowed to travel between lanes of traffic because unlike the other 49 states there is no law against such maneuvering, creating a legal grey area, so AB 51 was introduced last year to codify the act of lane splitting and provide legal guidelines (no faster than 50mph, and no more than 15mph faster than traffic). But if it isn’t defined, it isn’t breaking the law, so motorcyclists generally opposed regulating “lane splitting”, preferring to leave well enough alone and not create another new crime, and so AB 51 was pulled by its sponsor, Assemblyman Bill Quirk (D-Hayward), because “Lane splitting is a very complex issue and the author feels he needs more time to work out the details so that it’s more likely to be signed.” At the time, the bill had passed the state Assembly and was on its way to the California Senate floor. Now, AB 51 was recently resurrected and amended to its purest form, simply riding between cars, with no limiting language in the current wording of the bill, retaining the spirit of lane splitting and let the rider decide what’s safe. Even under current statutes, a rider can be cited with other violations for unsafe maneuvering. The new improved AB 51 strikes all references to miles per hour conditions, and simply defines “lane splitting” as “driving a motorcycle between rows of stopped or moving vehicles in the same lane, including both divided and undivided streets, roads, or highways.” Quirk’s office said the current bill has the expressed support of more than a dozen key organizations, among them motorcycle organizations such as ABATE of California, as well as multiple law enforcement agencies. AB 51 was swiftly approved by the State Assembly on May 28, 2016 by a vote of 58-14 and sent to the Senate where it passed Transportation and Housing Committee unanimously 11-0 on June 14 then re-referred to Appropriations Committee Thunder Roads® Mid-Atlantic

before coming up for a floor vote. 11/1/11 5:06 PM Although lane “filtering” is common throughout Europe and Asia and many other countries, California is the only state where it is not expressly illegal. A bill to legalize lane-splitting in Nevada was voted down in 2013. A similar bill in Oregon was defeated in 2015. Other bills have surfaced and died in Arizona and Texas. TRUMP STUMPS AT ROLLING THUNDER MOTORCYCLE RUN IN D.C. Throngs of bikers listened on Sunday, May 29, as presumptive Presidential GOP nominee Donald J. Trump delivered remarks to a crowd at the Lincoln Memorial during the 29th annual Rolling Thunder motorcycle run over Memorial Day weekend that is dedicated to accounting for military members taken as prisoners of war or listed as missing in action (POW/MIA). For the blunt-spoken real estate mogul and television celebrity, who stresses his desire to strengthen the military and improve how veterans are treated, the gathering provided a receptive audience. “Look at all these bikers,” Trump said with admiration. “Do we love the bikers? Yes. We love the bikers.” Wearing a red “Make America Great Again” hat and forgoing a necktie, Trump told the crowd of seeing large numbers of bikers at his campaign events. “I said, ‘What are they all doing here?’ and my people would say, ‘They’re here to protect you, Mr. Trump,’” he said. “It’s an amazing thing. And I want to tell you, some of these people are tough,” but added when he shakes their hands, “there is love, and it’s an incredible feeling, and that’s why I wanted to be with you today.” Trump’s supporters include a group called “Bikers for Trump,” which boasts more than 61,000 “likes” on Facebook. “I’m not a huge biker, I have to be honest with you, O.K.?” lamented Trump to the motorcycle gathering, “I always liked the limo better.” Nancy Regg, a spokeswoman for Rolling Thunder, told the New York Times that the group had invited Mr. Trump to appear. The group did not extend an invitation to Hillary Clinton or Senator Bernie Sanders, she said.
