There Will always Be Cold and Hot Genesis 8:22 As long as the earth continues, there will always be a time for planting and a time for harvest. There will always be cold and hot, summer and winter, day and night on earth.” Winter, Cold and Ice…We Bikers don’t like you! We like it sun shiny and warm not Cold. We love our rides down the beautiful country roads lined with lovely green trees and foliage. It’s February and Cold. I’m looking forward to higher temperatures so I can get on my bike and just ride off into the sun. Recently my son and I were riding on some back county roads and I began to really notice how I could see through the trees. I noticed things I never did before, such as homes and barns with beautiful yards and fields . It dawn on me how in the warm weather these things were hidden from view. Our lives are like the Hot and Cold, winter and the summer. When we dress ourselves up and pretty ourselves up, we hide many things. Then comes the cold and the foliage falls from the trees and exposes what lies behind all the laughing and partying. All the laughter, jokes and drinking can’t get rid of the hidden pain and sorrow that we hide. The beautiful foliage not only hides ugly things it also hide the most beautiful of things as well. During that ride

6

my son and I took that day I saw places too beautiful to hide. There they were all the time but no one could see them for the foliage . Sometimes you have so much beauty and goodness to be admired and shared but you cover it up with so many other things that just hide how wonderful you really are. Winter, summer, hot and cold all have their place in our lives. The Bible says they will always be with us. Some try to cheat it by moving to warmer climates and exotic places but you can’t escape it. It may not be cold where you live but you still have cold in your life and only Jesus can warm your hearts. We all are hot and cold at times that’s only natural. We learn to adapt and make the changes that are necessary to survive both the hot and the cold, the winter, spring, summer and fall. My prayer is that you learn how to thrive in these times and become the people God has created you to be. That you let the COLD and HOT do the work in you that will allow others to see your hidden beauty and worth.

watering holes was the Ace Cafe in London. As cafe racing gained in popularity, an entire culture developed and clubs formed. These cafe racers became known as “Ton-Up Boys”, because “the ton” it Brit slang means 100 MPH. So, “going ton-up” meant exceeding 100 on your bike. The Ton-Up Club and several other similar clubs formed during these early days, and the Ton-Up Club is still going strong today, worldwide!

THE ROCKERS vs THE MODS

ANATOMY OF A CAFE RACER

A cafe racer is, by definition, a production street bike that has been modified to give greater performance, and also to ape the looks of 1950s and 1960s-era Grand Prix racing bikes. Generally, they are minimalist (that means stripped to the bone), with low handlebars, rear-set foot pegs, a long tank and a short seat with “bum stop”. However, as with all custom bikes, there are no “official rules”. Everything goes. Cafe racers have generally been built or modified by their owners, to their own personal tastes. However today, shops have sprung up that build custom cafe racers for customers, very much like chopper builders do for their customers. The big difference is that everything on a chopper is for looks, and everything on a cafe racer is there to make it go faster.

Rockers pose with this classic Triumph cafe racer.

CAFE RACING CULTURE

The term “Cafe Racer” sprang up in England in the late 1950s and early 60s when young hooligans used to race from cafe to cafe on their “motorbikes”. One clever trick was to start a song on the juke box, then run outside, start your bike and fly off down the road to some predetermined point where you turned around and raced back. The whole point was to get back to the juke box before the song finished. Great fun, those Brits. The most famous of these 8

All of this played in nicely with a huge cultural shift that was already taking place in Britain. Just like in America, postwar prosperity empowered legions of youths to spend money on clothes, crazy haircuts, Mods wore suits and ties, and rode music, and bikes. The thing is wildly-modified scooters. that this huge demographic market had split into two distinctly different halves: The Rockers and The Mods. And they hated each other. Mods dressed in neat suits and ties and rode around in dolled-up scooters. Rocker wore black leather and chains, they listened to rock and roll, loudly, and they rode ʻreal motorcyclesʼ. The predominant fashion for those bikes was the cafe racer, and the culture just went along with it, melding well with the Rocker culture.

CLASSIC BRITISH BIKES AS CAFE RACERS

Of course, the world was changing drastically at this same time. While the classic British brands like Triumph, BSA and Norton were still doing well, by the early 1960s there was a wind blowing in from the east, carrying with it boatloads of cheap, fast Japanese motorcycles. Cafe Racing having started in England, most cafe racers were modified British bikes. Triumph, BSA, Norton and Matchless twins were among the most popular, although many built Cafe Racers out of whatever they had, including a wide selection of big British singles (ie: BSA Gold Star, Matchless G80, etc.). At some point, as Japanese bikes became more widespread, they too became the raw material for countless Cafe Racers. But it was the classic British motorcycle that was at the very root and heart of the Cafe Racer and the Cafe A classic British cafe racer: mid-60s Racer Culture. Norton 750 Atlas.

extreme that they literally became a new class of motorcycle. Probably the first one was the Honda 750 Interceptor in 1983. Suddenly, everything else looked slow. But it wasnʼt long before a whole new crop of bikes arrived, each looking like Grand Prix racing bikes, and the modern ʻSport Bikeʼ was born. Today, sport bikes are insanely fast and capable of handling and braking that riders couldnʼt even dream of a few years ago. The BMW S1000RR makes 199 horsepower and weighs just 400 pounds! At what point is enough enough? The 1977 Harley-Davidson XLCR was Willie G. Davidsonʼs idea of what a cafe racer should look like. Iʼd say he nailed it!

THE FACTORIES JUMP IN

Many motorcycle manufacturers were hoping to tap into the growing Cafe Racer trend in the 1960s and well into the 1970s. Surprisingly, Triumph and BSA didnʼt jump in, they certainly should have, and could have. Norton came out with their Production Racer and the John Player Special, both factory-built cafe racers, essentially appearance packages on stock Commandos. Otherwise, there really was no big factory effort among British motorcycle manufacturers to tap into this huge and growing trend, and itʼs truly a shame, because they certainly could have used the extra sales. It just goes to show how out of touch and out of working capital the British motorcycle industry actually was in the 1960s. But, the opportunity wasnʼt lost on the rest of the industry. Ducati jumped right in and built their entire business around producing factory cafe racers, and what they would become: sport bikes. BMW, Moto Guzzi and Laverda all had handsome factory cafe racers in the early 1970s that sold very well and are still well regarded today. Even Harley-Davidson couldn’t resist, coming out with their gorgeous XLCR 1000cc V-twin Cafe Racer in 1977. And of course, Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki and Yamaha bet heavily on the cafe racer market with a wide array of awesome bikes in all shapes and sizes.

Rickman frame, Triumph 650 engine, this modern cafe racer shows the level of craftsmanship that todayʼs builders are bringing to the game.

CAFE RACERS CONTINUE

Despite the big corporations trying to hijack the cafe racer, and their morphing it into an extreme version of itself, the classic cafe racer survived. It was overshadowed during the 80s and 90s by the tsunami of new sport bikes pouring in from continued...

The 1983 Honda 750 Interceptor is widely considered to be the worldʼs first Sport Bike. It looked like a road racer, now they all do.

CAFE RACERS MORPH INTO TODAY’S SPORT BIKES

As the major players got involved, the market for these bikes just seemed to grow. Maybe it was the changing demographic, or the availability of cheap, fast bikes, but people started wanting faster and faster motorcycles, crazy-fast! Somewhere along the way, the factories, mostly in Japan, in an effort to try to outdo one another, pushed the performance envelope of these cafe racers to such an Thunder Roads® Mid-Atlantic

every corner of the globe. But they were still there, the culture was still there, the owners were still spending nights in their garage working on their bikes, and it was growing. By the 2000s, the cafe racer was catching on again, partially due to the “nostalgia boom” that led to retro Mustangs, Camaros, Challengers, and New Beetles, and also old Panheads and period-correct Cafe Racers. They came into fashion again. Custom builders began serving this market with some incredible bikes, and of course talented owners continue to build cafe racers and take the state of the art into the modern age.

WHAT IS A NORLEY?

An interesting offshoot of the cafe racer art and science has been what used to be called the “hybrid” or “cross-breed”. This refers to a bike with one kind of frame and another kind of engine. The frames were almost always Norton ʻFeatherbedsʼ, Norton frame + Vincent because they were the bestV-twin = Norvin. Featherbed handling frames available in frames are easy to spot the 1950s and 60s, they were because of that curved light, and as it turned out, very frame tube behind the adaptable to other power plants. engine running up to the A common swap was a Triumph tank. 650 engine in the Norton frame, which was nicknamed “Triton”, for “Triumph-” and “-Norton”. It didn’t stop there. 998cc Vincent V-twins were dropped into the Norton frame, creating the “Norvin”. Even Harley-Davidson Sportster engines were grafted in, creating the “Norley”. All done in the interest of more power and better handling.

MY OWN CAFE RACER

The cafe racer genre is alive and well, and growing. And it’s always been near and dear to my heart. I tried to build my first cafe racer out of my ʼ64 Triumph TR6 (formerly a bobber), back in the mid-1970s, but didn’t have the money to pull That’s me with my Yellow Bike in the it off. It only took Santa Cruz Mountains of CA in 2008. me until 2000 to take up the cause again. I built this wonderful cafe racer, which I named “Yellow Bike” out of a ʼ73 Triumph Bonneville 750 I paid $1400 for. Itʼs the bike I always wanted to build. Iʼve ridden it all up and down California for years, won shows with it, had write-ups in bike magazines, and after all that...like an idiot I sold it in 2009. But the good news is I just tracked it down and bought it back from the guy. Iʼm working on it now and getting it ready for spring. It makes me happy just looking at it. I canʼt believe I ever sold it. I love cafe racers. Please visit my website at www.Classic-British-Motorcycles.com 10

DIARY OF A BIKER CHIC

January 13, 2017 Well, my bike has been in the shop for about two weeks now. I’m hoping they are able to fix it this time. I really missed out on a warm day yesterday. It would have been nice to have been able to take advantage of it. I guess if it still isn’t fixed after this, I’m going to have to come up with a new plan. I’ve been riding for ten years now and I’m only on my second bike. I know some people like to switch up bikes every couple of years but I like to hold on to what I got. Maybe that’s a girl thing? Speaking of girl things, I’ve been noticing more and more women riders. When I first started riding, I’d see one here or there but now it seems like we are everywhere! I just found out today that a co-work within my agency at work rides. I had no idea. She found out from someone I used to work with that she now works with. I got an unexpected email from her today. She was very excited to learn that I ride. We are already talking about doing some trips together! One thing that riding does very well, is bond you with someone that you may not have ever have paid attention to. It brings friendships together! I also ran into an old co-worker of mine last week and she asked me if I was still riding. “Of course,” I told her. She then tells me that she’d like to ride someday. I told her what I tell every female who says that to me. “DO IT!” Not only do I tell them that they are going to love it, but I also tell them that I would be more than willing to help them learn. I’m not one of those chics who turns my nose up at other female riders. I’m one of those chics who wants to encourage other female riders. It can be intimidating to be a girl trying to enter into a world that most people see as only a man’s world. I’ve never been one to back down just because I’m a girl and I’ll never let another girl do that. I can understand how a female would be intimidated or

Thunder Roads® Mid-Atlantic

maybe even scared, but I’ll always do my best to tell them to never be afraid! Life is too short to not do something that you want to. What I don’t tell these girls is how hard it is to shop for gear. I’m noticing a lot of things geared more towards women, like magazines that are geared towards female riders. There are a ton of websites that you can go to, to order things like female riding jackets, pants, boots, helmets, jewelry, etc. You can find anything on the internet, which is great but there is a big but in that statement. It’s hard to order clothes on line unless you know the company and know how their brand fits you. I’d rather go to a shop and try things on before I buy it. The problem is, the shops in this area don’t really cater to women riders. Yes, most of them, if not all of them, have a female section but it consists of mainly jackets, helmets, and boots. I’ll use my heated gear as an example. I was not able to find any heated gear that was made for a woman in any stores. I had one store tell me they could special order it for me, but if it didn’t fit, I still had to buy it. I ended up buying a small in men’s, but guess what? It’s still way too big. I look like I’m walking around with a load in my pants! I’m not exaggerating that either! I wish I had the know-how and the means to open up my own bike shop for just women. There’s got to be someone out there reading this that can make the world a little bit easier for us chics? It’s the only thing that I can think of that the motorcycle world falls short on. Maybe there are stores in other states that do have shops for just women, but none here in Maryland. Can someone get on this please? PLEASE? Anyways, we have spring coming in next month…I’m hoping my bike is ready by then. Fingers crossed for me everyone. Thanks for reading and please ride safe! ~Joyce Elaine

• Make yourself visible. Choose riding gear that increases your visibility in traffic in addition to providing protection in the event of a crash. Use bright colors and retro-reflective strips or decals, especially at night. • Ride so you are seen. There is no one safe place to ride. Use lane positioning to be seen. Ride with your headlight on and consider using a modulating headlight. • Give yourself space and time to react. Allow space for emergency braking or for avoiding a crash. Make your lane moves gradually. • Signal your intentions. Signal before changing lanes. Avoid weaving between lanes. Flash your brake light when you are slowing down and before stopping. • Be courteous and respect other road users. Being courteous, non-aggressive and cooperative can go a long way in reducing crashes.

WolfPackApp I downloaded the WolfPack App (check it out: www. wolfpack.run) last September after a friend of mine suggested it for our weekly group rides (there is about 8 to 10 of us). At first, I will admit, I was skeptical. I’m not necessarily the most high-tech guy and although the concept sounded good I wasn’t sure whether it’d be everything he cracked it up to be. I trust my buddy’s judgment though, so I downloaded it and decided to upgrade to the premium version (like two bucks a month) because he used the extra features you get (trip planning with way points and a place to chat and share photos of your rides, mostly) which was not a bad idea at all. Right away I liked that it was easy to use. My buddy had already set up a Pack that had our other riding regulars (I was the last one to download the thing apparently). He invited me to the run we were doing up to Brooklyn for a block party and I liked that the route was all easily viewable beforehand. Normally we just show up morning-of and try to explain the route verbally, which sometimes gets lost in translation. He also had waypoints charted out for us (according to A New Class of Group Riding has Arrived him, took him minutes to do that) so we could stop at WolfPack - Get There Together a place with great waffles on the way and have a gas break for folks with peanut tanks.

WolfPack reinvents the social experience for Group Riding. Plan your route, easily and in minutes, share with your pack, navigate together, communicate, and enjoy the ride, all from your Android or iOS device.

Morning of the ride we had 9 bikes show up to head to BK and only one guy wasn’t using WolfPack because he had a flip phone (ha ha). The rest of us fired up the app and as we rolled out. Not only did the app give us all turn by turn nav, with voice, but, we actually saw our relative location to each other! About an hour in I got lagging behind a bit and noticed everyone else getting further away from me on the WolfPack radar. I picked up the pace to catch up after my body sent me a “Close the Gap” message (precanned, you cannot type while riding) - right on the middle of my screen. Long story short, we all got to the waffle place, the gas station and then to BK, together. I’ve admitted to my bud he was right and we’ve been using WolfPack consistently since. Definitely makes all the planning, organizing, navigating and communicating a lot easier for our weekly rides. Didn’t think phone technology could make riding even better but, apparently, it can. STONEWALL AND SCHMAGILKA

2016 was an extraordinary ROAD year from my experience. I CAPTAIN’S witnessed the universe finding REPORT exceptions, redefining and rediscovering things unique and new, rather than the norm. This biker bought his first Harley, a brand he thought he’d never own, and watched two of his buddies purchase the same model: Henry, a dedicated and loyal customer, and Mike, like me, a former skeptic. Rose and I got to see much of the country and parts of Canada on this more than capable craft. Geddy Lee would call all of this, Schmagilka: an indefinable thing that’s awesome. So, it was only fitting, that three days before Christmas, with schedules free, and the weather cooperating, we would all get in a ride together, before the year’s end.

Mike on His New Limited

Adding to this special day, Mike’s son, Timmy, would be riding with us, on leave from duty overseas with the Marines. Henry, Mike, and Rose and I, would be on our Limiteds. And Timmy would be on his newly acquired 1200 VMax. Rose put out a breakfast spread that would rival many small restaurants. And it was a good thing, because the old guys were ready to eat, and Timmy brought his Ooh Rah appetite with him. The Highland County forecast was for mostly sunny skies with temps in the upper 40s. We were heading east to Stonewall Harley Davidson, since the roads out here were still a little chunky. Takeoff temperature was 45F. Most of us were wearing heated gear except for Henry. We’ve ridden with him in colder temps than this and all he wears is a hoodie under a leather jacket with chaps. I had the juice set on low just to take the chill off my vagina.

Timmy on the VMax

We took a shortcut to bypass Harrisonburg on Cross Keys Road, and headed past Massanutten Mountain up to Swift Run Gap. Riding down the other side is always a bit of a clencher for me. If I’m not paying attention to the gages, the speeds can easily get up there with the steep grade. Paired with some sharp corners, one, notably, almost always displays skid marks ending at a popular guardrail. It has always been a pucker up sort of stretch. Blasting ACDC’s “Shoot To Thrill” wasn’t helping matters.

Heading due east from the mountains, the GPS directed us along back roads with little traffic, I’d never been on. Along the way, I reached down to give Rose’s leg a squeeze. I took a deep

breath. Feeling the warm, fresh, country air fill my lungs, I was enjoying this beautiful day, on this relaxing byway. The temperature reached 64 degrees by the time we arrived at Stonewall. We all felt like turkeys out of the oven as we parked. Fortunately, there was plenty of space to store gear so we could go inside and browse without baking. Nearly

everyone there greeted us with a smile and asked if we needed help with anything. We checked out their clearance items in Motorclothes while Rose tried on hats. After getting Rose a T shirt, we sat out front on rocking chairs, in the warm December sun. Score one for Schmagilka. We eventually found Wise Guys in Orange after suffering three cycles of the traffic light that wouldn’t trip, and some heroics through a one way parking lot back to the main road. It was all well worth it, as the food from the open kitchen was very good. I was still somewhat full from breakfast, so I opted for a bowl of chicken noodle soup, which hit the spot.

The ride home was a bit lengthy because some idiot, who was leading, decided to return via Charlottesville at the start of rush hour. We also stopped near Montpelier, home of James Madison, at an old Esso station for a pic. With the station sign clearly visible, and the four of us standing on the porch behind our bikes, the setting was both surreal and nostalgic. Adding the grayscale filter, it would turn out to be one of this

It was nearly nightfall when Rose and I habitually hugged and kissed after stowing our gear in the sacred closet. The juice came in handy, taking the chill off the 37 degree crossing over Shenandoah Mountain. Going through the pics I reflected on yet another extraordinary day. I’ve often wondered what the odds are for all of us being here, on this small rock, in a seemingly endless universe, right now, together. They are nearly astronomically improbable, if not impossible. And yet, in this relative world, a few of us have resorted to riding motorcycles, one of the most subjective experiences, we could possibly know. And at what other time, has there been such machines, and a world of well paved roads to ride them on? Perhaps, that may answer the question of why some of us are here. It is on that razor’s edge, and the places it takes us, and the journeys along the way, with those we share, that we find, Schmagilka. Cheers and thanks for reading! Rodney Farris Memorial Indoor Flat Track Races Baltimore County Trail Riders Association Timonium, MD - 12/10/2016 By: BrappMag.com Early December took us once again back to the Cow Palace at the MD State Fairgrounds for round #1 of the 2016 Indoor Series. I’ve been attending these events since the mid 1980’s and I believe the first ever race here was around 1981. The tradition of Timonium continues with this round hosting 196 riders and a full house of spectators. This was also the first ever invitational indoor with the likes of pro racers Sammy Halbert, Cory Texter and Daniel Bromley on hand to chase the $5000 pro purse offered up by the Baltimore County Trail Riders. This round also saw the first ever use of transponder scoring here at Timonium. Whether we like it or not, the future has arrived. The racing would be intense in most classes on this cold December evening. The Dash for Cash would kick off the main events with AMA Pro Hillclimber Cory Strickler scoring the $500 to win booty. The Open Sportsman class would be up next with local racer and longtime Timonium veteran Jason Isennock grabbing the win after several re starts. The tight indoor course always keeps things interesting and when you have 12 pros lined up on two rows racing 450cc motorcycles, well you get the picture. Isennock would also go on to win the Pro Sport class later in the program taking home the lion’s share of the $5000 purse followed by Cory Texter then Cory Strickler. Several youth classes were up next where we saw young Kayla Sample take the win in the 50cc chain division. She took her Cobra 50 motorcycle and showed the boys around the course all night long. We also saw double class winner Dylan Dancy grab the checkers in 50cc Shaft Drive and the 65 (7-11) youth division. Then we have Mr. Timonium Nick Henderson. I’m going to 24

The vintage Yammies always make an appearance at Timonium.

Nick Henderson (29) notches 5 wins on the night. start calling him that because I believe he may be one the winningest racers ever here at this venue. I know there have been a lot of greats come through these walls but Nick took five class wins again on this evening and in talking with him, he doesn’t know how many he’s one here over the years but he said since 1993 between the indoor and outdoor tracks he’s notched over 100 wins. Wow and congrats to Nick. Check the rest of the results below and to see more images from the night’s event head over to our photo page on www. brappmag.com

REPORT U.S. World Trophy Team: 2016 AMA Motorcyclists of the Year

PICKERINGTON, Ohio -- The American Motorcyclist Association announced today that its 2016 AMA Motorcyclists of the Year are U.S. World Trophy Team members Taylor Robert, Kailub Russell, Thad DuVall and Layne Michael. On Oct. 16, 2016, they accomplished something that no team of American motorcyclists had done before: They won the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme’s International Six Days Enduro. “This shared achievement of Taylor, Kailub, Thad and Layne is historic,” said AMA President and CEO Rob Dingman. “Generations of AMA members have chased the ISDE World Trophy, and these four riders have finally caught it for all of us.” The AMA Motorcyclist -- or Motorcyclists -- of the Year is the individual or group of individuals who have had the largest positive impact on motorcycling in the calendar year. Since 1913, the ISDE has invited the countries of the world to send their best racers. It is a crown that has always eluded American racers. Until now. “This triumph is unprecedented, and it is my honor to recognize these riders as the 2016 AMA Motorcyclists of the Year,” Dingman said. The 2016 ISDE was Oct. 11-16 in Navarra, Spain. The U.S. World Trophy Team started strong, powering to a 26.02-second gap on the first day. The team added to its lead on the second and third days, slipped a bit on Day 4,

then held fairly steady on Days 5 and 6, finishing 3 minutes, 38.66 seconds ahead of the second-place Great Britain team. In addition, Taylor Robert won the individual overall at the event, only the second time in history an American has accomplished that goal. The U.S. World Trophy riders led a strong U.S. effort that saw the Junior team finish second in its division, the Women’s team come in fourth, club teams finish second and third, and American Fred Hoess win the FIM Vintage Trophy. “For decades, American teams have struggled to win at the ISDE, but in 2016, all those efforts paid off,” Dingman said. “While Taylor, Kailub, Thad and Layne would surely be the first to give credit to lessons learned in previous years, they are the riders who hoisted the ISDE World Trophy for the first time in history.”

Profiles of Robert, Russell, DuVall and Michael can be found in the January 2017 issue of American Motorcyclist, the official AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days, July 8-10, 2016 at Mid-Ohio Sports journal of the AMA. American Motorcyclist Association appoints Kevin Crowther as Director of Racing December 05, 2016 PICKERINGTON, Ohio -- The American Motorcyclist Association has appointed Kevin Crowther as the association’s director of racing. Crowther, who vacates the position of director of Supercross and pro racing relations, will oversee all AMA amateur and professional competition operations, including maintaining his management responsibilities with respect to AMA Supercross. ”As the largest motorsports sanctioning body in the world, the AMA maintains a world-class racing program, and Kevin is well-qualified to help us meet and exceed that goal,” said AMA President and CEO Rob Dingman. “From the beginning, motorcycle racing in all its forms has been core to the AMA’s mission. Kevin will provide the day-to-day guidance and hands-on leadership to ensure the association continues to deliver for AMA members in the racing community.” In addition to serving as director of Supercross and pro racing relations, Crowther has been the AMA’s director of technical development and the chief technical inspector for the AMA Superbike Championship Series. By virtue of his positions with the AMA, the U.S. affiliate of the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme, Crowther also has served in various roles for World Superbike, MotoGP, MXGP and the Motocross of Nations. “Since Christmas morning in 1971 when I found a 1971 Yamaha Mini Enduro under the tree, motorcycles have always been a big part of my life, and I’m excited to continue that journey in this new role,” Crowther said. “I will put forward all of my experience to guide the AMA’s racing department into the future. We have a strong, efficient and experienced racing staff, and we will work hard with our promoting and operational partners to continue to better serve our racing

28

members across all disciplines, from trails to Supercross.” Prior to working for the AMA, Crowther was an amateur competitor in motocross, off-road and road racing. He also has built or developed race bikes for road racing, drag racing, motocross, Supermoto, off-road and dirt track. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, Crowther also was a certified Motorcycle Safety Foundation Instructor on the Naval Air Station North Island in California. Crowther replaces outgoing AMA Director of Racing Bill Cumbow, who has held the position since 2014. Cumbow, who will maintain an advisory role with respect to dayto-day operations, has been a key member of the AMA racing staff since 2006 and was instrumental in the 2014 effort to shepherd the promoting responsibilities for the AMA Superbike Championship to MotoAmerica. Cumbow will continue his AMA responsibilities with respect to MotoAmerica and the FIM. “One of Bill’s many strengths is that he considers all AMA racers and their interests to be equally important, whether they are competing in a local enduro or the U.S. round of MotoGP,” Dingman said. “I’m pleased that Bill will remain involved in AMA racing activities as Kevin transitions into his new role.” For more information on this or other related AMA News and Events, visit www.AmericanMotorcyclist.com

THROTTLE LIFE

TERESA’S DREAM

On October 31st of last year we not only lost a member of the Thunder Roads’ team, but also a friend, Teresa “Blueiz” Christiansen. Teresa embodied a feeling of familiarity even if you didn’t know her personally such as the case with me. I knew her from events primarily and remember seeing her everywhere from Timonium to the DC IMS to supporting the March of Dimes’ Bikers for Babies charity ride. Although I didn’t know her as well as others, her smile, charm and witty sense of humor had a way of making you feel welcomed as if you knew her for years. Before her untimely passing, Teresa played a big part in providing feedback, suggestions, guidance and input with a unique custom build by with Sick Sledz’ owner Jim Fowler. Originally slated to pay homage and respect to friend Eddie Trotter, upon Teresa’s passing Jim quickly changed the direction to honor and pay respect to his friend and often times show-manager -- the one who was involved from the very beginning of the build even before there was a bike - Teresa. Although continuing the build was an emotional journey, Jim dug in with his 35 years of experience along with his team at Sick Sledz and special recognition to RJ Reynolds committed to not only finishing the bike, but with steely determination in creating a 34

custom that captured her spirit, style and personality down to the lace laden candy gloss and silver leaf paint. The team took a 2016 Fatboy Lo from stock to a west coast inspired east coast gangster look rocking a stretched fuel tank, Renegade Phantom Cut wheels, a custom seat and seat pan, front fender by Klock Werks, rear fender by Oldys Custom Composite, BR Custom New Wave 12in Apes. Sic Sledz showed out with the custom floorboards, custom rocker boxes, medallions and custom Sick Sledz Point Cover and nasty Bassini Road Rage Short jet hot coated black exhaust adding to that east coast gangster-lean look. Although no longer with us physically, her memory, spirit and energy will continue to roll with us thanks to the hard work, dedication and craftsman of Sick Sledz.

HOT & COZY ENCHILADA SOUP

4 Cans of Progresso Chicken Cheese Enchilada Soup (this is your pre-made base) 1 Rotisserie Chicken from Deli; whether you choose Traditional, Garlic, Lemon Pepper, Sage & Basil. All good. 2 Boxes of quality Chicken Broth (not Stock) *if you can only find cans then use 4 cans 2 Cups of cooked Egg Noodles; drained and mixed w/ quality margarine 1 Cup of Half & Half This is my fave Go-To when a group shows up and have to put something on the table.....Fast! In a large stock pot add your 4 cans of soup and the broth. Put your Egg Noodles on to boil asap. Keeping your soup on medium; add pieces that you’ve pulled off the rotisserie chicken and chopped to a medium size. Add a heaping tablespoon on margarine and swirl all through soup. Add a palmful of basil, parsley, cumin and a dash of nutmeg. Salt & pepper to taste. Now, add your egg noodles and just let it go about 15 mins until all that delicious creaminess from the soup gets all through your chicken and egg noodles. Ladle up into big, deep bowls and I always add thin shredded Fiesta blend cheese to the top of each bowl and a dollop of sour cream is optional. Serve w/ the huge, really thin Tortilla Chips or super hot & butttery crusty bread and baby, you’ve got one helluva perfect meal for a cold, crisp day or just any day you want good soup that has the homemade flair but is super simple to make. Spoon Up! (Serves 8) Scale down to accommodate for just yourself or for two people, four, etc.

FROM CANS OF CRESCENT ROLLS TO SCRUMPTIOUS APPLE DUMPLINGS

2 Cans of Pillsbury Crescent Rolls; roll the entire cans out onto floured counterspace or cutting board. 2 Granny Smith Apples; cored and peeled and cut vertically in half and then half and half again. Should come up 8 pcs. per apple and the Crescent rolls have 8 triangles per can. In a larger glass measuring cup, nuke and melt a whole stick of butter. Add 1-1/2 cups of sugar, a Tbls. of cinnamon and a teaspoon of quality Vanilla to same glass measuring cup and stir w/ a spatula until well mixed. Separate your triangles and place a wedge of apple at the widest end and roll up into the point and then tuck the ends up into the folds of the little packet. Do this with all of them and place in a buttered 9x13 glass or ceramic baking dish. Take your spread in the measuring cup and using your spatula, cover each packet completely on the top as possible. Now, this is a bit tricky so just do it carefully......take a full can of Sprite soda and pour all along the sides only of the packets. Make sure you do not get any on the topping. Do it slowly and it will start flowing in between and all around the packets while not disturbing the topping. Bake in a preheated oven of 350 degrees for 35-40 mins. until golden brown. This makes the most crispy, tender Apple Dumplings imaginable and a tremendous sauce to go over them. All you have to do is spoon quality vanilla ice cream on them and WoooEee! your tastebuds are doing the Snoopy Happy Dance. Just SO dang good and so dang simple to make.

SUPER SEXY VALENTINE’S MIMOSA 1 Bottle of Champagne of Ballatore’ Sparkling Wine or Asti Spumonte’ 1 Glass Pitcher of Premium Orange Juice; made from frozen of from the carton. Only fill 1 1/4 of the way up. The rest of the way pour in the champagne. Fill champagne flutes with mixture and leave just a tad of room for several drops of either cherry juice or pomegranate juice for a red color and slightly sweet flavor. Stir CHEERS TO ONE AND ALL. MAY YOU ALWAYS KEEP YOUR PASSION ALIVE.

Bullet Points SPONSORED BY

kEEPiN’ it cLEaN by Rick Wyatt

A couple of months ago I wrote about preparing for deer season early. Right now is the time to be preparing for 2017, that is unless you are one of the fortunate few who can afford to re-outfit on an annual basis and not depend on the gear you used this past season. A little time and due diligence now will go a long way toward the start of a successful hunt for years to come. Your single greatest investment more than likely is your firearm, and even if it isn’t it is still represents the principal tool of your quest. The first step for a pre-storage cleaning of a firearm is to break it down as far as you are comfortable with. Understand that I say this with a bit of trepidation because most of us have a friend (s) who we quietly fantasize about losing their tool box. You know, the guys that bring you their “whatever in boxes and zip-lock bags” knowing that you and you alone can save their bacon. But, then maybe they have saved us a ton of money over the years, because we are so busy fixing their crap we don’t have time to break ours! Anyway, at the very least remove the barrel and action from the stock, remove the bolt assembly and (if possible) the trigger assembly. The whole purpose for this is to expose any areas where moisture may be trapped and cause rust and corrosion, including under the scope base (which is the most often overlooked moisture pocket), please note that a magnetic base parts dish will be worth its weight in gold for holding the tiny screws and springs you may encounter. Once disassembled inspect each part for wear anomalies which may require professional attention such as broken screws or springs, bent pins, and cracks in places where cracks should not be; then begin the cleaning process starting with the barrel. Rifled barrels should be cleaned in the direction of bullet travel, in other words from breech to muzzle, because it helps maintain accuracy integrity. Needless to say, if you are using granddad’s ancient cleaning rod and brushes, this can be a pain in crapper because of having to install, remove and reinstall the brushes and cleaning jags with every pass. A better solution is to use a BORE SNAKE, or even better the OTIS CLEANING SYSTEM. Both of these products are designed to facilitate easy breech to muzzle cleaning, don’t take up much room in your gear box, and are available for both rifles and pistols in all popular calibers. As far as bore cleaners, there is a plethora of products available, but I have become attached to GUNZILLA. I became most aware of this product line when parents of the men and women serving in Iraq and Afghanistan were coming in the store and buying it by the quart to send to America’s finest, because it stands up so well under the harshest conditions. Come to find out they are Michigan made, non-petroleum based (making it safe to use on all finishes), and offer an outstanding copper/lead remover as well Thunder Roads® Mid-Atlantic

as solvents and lubricants and don’t leave the house smelling like HOPPES. Anyway, coat the inside of the barrel with whatever solvent you use and let it sit while you move on to the trigger group. I do not recommend tearing down a trigger group unless you know that you know exactly what you are doing! Have a friend who thought he did, only to find out that he needed a special assembly jig to reassemble, that one went to the service center in a zip-lock bag. For most of us, the best course of action is to use some sort of pick to remove built up crud, douche it down with spray solvent/lubricant, and blow it out with compressed air, then repeat if necessary. I do not advocate the use of many of the “gun scrubbers” available in the market, because they remove the lubricants needed to protect precision parts in the trigger assembly. If your trigger mechanism is so cruddy you feel a need for a deep cleaning, please take it to a gunsmith and let them dip it (and your bolt) in their ultra-sonic machine. As a finishing touch, you might want to use a little moly-grease on the sear; you won’t believe the improvement in performance. Turning back to the barrel, now that the solvent has sat a while, pull a good copper brush through the bore several times, then start pulling patches. If the patches start coming out green it indicates a buildup of copper in the rifling and you may want to consider using a copper/lead remover until the patches pull clean. Once you are satisfied that the bore is clean, with a light coat of lubricant to prevent corrosion, wipe the outside of the barrel and receiver with a clean old tee shirt (best gun cleaning rags ever) looking for surface rust, scratches and dings that go through the finish to bare metal. Surface rust can usually be removed with a little solvent and a piece of course burlap (instead of steel wool), and BIRCHWOOOD CASEY makes pens like sharpie markers in blue, dark blue and black to seal boo-boos. Finally, put a light coat of lubricant on the outside of the barrel and receiver and begin to reassemble your firearm, making sure to use Lock-Tite on all metal to metal screws. By the way, if you have an older gun with a wooden stock and the wood isn’t holding the screws so well anymore, a dab of plastic wood will work wonders. Now that the gun is clean and moisture free, please do not put it into a foam lined case unless it is in a silicon sleeve, because foam is notorious for holding moisture. By the same token safes and vaults allow air to move around all of your guns but household humidity can wreak havoc inside the best of safes. A reusable dehumidifier or even a can of descant (available at most hardware stores) will save you a ton of grief.

2016 TOY DONATION CAMPAIGN FOLLOW UP Bikers4tykes.com

What started off as a simple conversation between a guy known as RAZZ & a President of the areas Dominant 1%’s MC club, wanting to make a difference and bring awareness throughout the local communities, that there are many families struggling every where and many of those families holiday season is weighed down by these struggles all across our great nation.

Those in Need”. Yes, against so many saying it couldn’t be done. There is no way to have all the areas unified 1%’s and 3%’s together because something is going to happen as it always has in the past but good luck. Luck has nothing to do with it because it’s a simple example really and it doesn’t cost anything and it’s called “Respect”. When Respect is given; Respect is earned its not complicated at all. So, yes something did happen an example was set.

Bikers4Tykes was created to represent and bring a unified awareness throughout the motorcycle communities by sponsoring and assisting support efforts for “Helping Those in Need”.

The days and weeks passed with a new buzz in the air. The word begun to spread quickly, collaborations began to happen, Brothers and Sisters started volunteering their time, resources and efforts all across DC, VA and WV areas. When there is purpose and a genuine will, there is always going to be a way to move forward. With so many MC’s and businesses now involved, there was over some 140 toy donation boxes out there and the toys began to gather.

PROSPECTS The Bottoms Up Club and its members began immediately organizing efforts even while being up against many who’s speculation, criticism, opinions and beliefs, that this unified effort within the 1%’s and 3%’s MC communities couldn’t be accomplished. Bikers4Tkes was launched late October 2016, with so much to be done and not very much time to get all the collaborations and everything organized, many outsiders doubted even more this could be done. Well hey, those same folks thought and said the same thing about “TRUMP” getting into the White House but there he is right. All things in this life are possible; all that is required is a need and to have genuine will to set an example for which to follow, “Progress is a forward motion”. As the 2016 holiday season was quickly approaching, many citizens of the area were running around full of Christmas cheer. However also during this holiday season there was an unexpected new sight in many businesses around the DC, VA and WV areas. Many of us are use to seeing those Toys for Tots collection boxes but wait; there is something different about these collection boxes this year. That’s right folks this year many of those boxes shared an added look Bikers4Tykes & Toys for Tots collaborating together with the areas MC’s and local businesses for this 2016 holiday season to “Help 42

The momentous day had finally come and on December 17 2016 all the efforts that everyone had put into this epic event, even against all opposition, regardless of attempts by others to bring shame, sabotage or criticize the efforts, came together set the example and brought forth a Unity among Brothers and Sisters. Hey Redd !, can you hear that? Hear what RAZZ, she says. That rumble, says RAZZ. Yes, I can hear that but what is it? Well that’s the sound of progress and a Unified MC Community banding together to support the local families in need and here they come pulling in now. What an amazing sight as so many Brothers and Sisters from all across the DC, VA and WV areas MC communities begin to pull in. Unity is in the air, hands are being shaken, hugs given, pats on the back acknowledgment of respect and appreciation clearly demonstrated as each Brother and Sister arrive carrying boxes and bags packed with toys donated and collected. WOW!! The toys just start to pour in as each member of all the different MC’s kept arriving. The smiles, laughter and positive energy begins to fill hearts of everyone coming into

The businesses that helped support this event by hosting collection boxes Special thanks to Shannon L Blom (REDD) for her relentless, tireless efforts in promoting and Co hosting this event. There were many sleepless days and nights during this transition up to the day of the event. Her positive energy and beautiful smile brought sunshine on the darkest of days. So very proud of her for everything she did in getting the word out there, much love and respect earned for the way she pushed through it all and supported some of us who were struggling forward.

O’Connell’s Pub for this epic event. They toys continue to fill the large 20x30 event tent that was setup on the deck, it then becomes a crystal clear reality that the example has been set and the purpose has been achieved. Many of the areas families and children will most defiantly be helped in their time of need during this 2016 holiday season. Look there is Santa someone said during the event and guess what it was Santa and Mrs Clause showing up to also show their support as they had heard about the event and wanted to stop and bring some Christmas cheer. There are not enough words to describe the emotion, thanks and respect we have for everyone that supported this momentous event. The toys collected were distributed by members of the MC’s to “Those in Need” across DC.VA and WV through many social services organizations lists, churches, out reach programs, private and other businesses lists. Toys for Tots was presented with a 6x12 enclosed trailer loaded with toys collected. An estimated over some 500 children received toys from the donation and collection efforts through this event. To see so many who at one point in time may have been opposing MC clubs, come together Unified in principle and purpose gives hope that through this example, positive change can and will happen as all a change really needs is a starting point because “Progress is a forward motion”. Many thanks to all the areas Dominant 1%’s MC and to the 3%’s MC’s. an end to motorsports in the UK, because insurance companies will 11/1/11 5:06 PM not insure against third party motorsport risks -- the number of vehicle claims alone would be unsustainable for them, meaning that if the Vnuk judgement came into force, motorsport activity in the UK would cease.

RPM ACT REINTRODUCED IN NEW CONGRESS As the 115th Congress went into session, among the first bills reintroduced was the RPM Act (Recognizing the Protection of Motorsports Act of 2017), House Resolution 350 sponsored by U.S. Representative Patrick McHenry (R-NC). The bipartisan bill, which was submitted for reintroduction on the first day of the new Congress, protects Americans’ right to modify street cars and motorcycles into dedicated race vehicles and industry’s right to sell the parts that enable racers to compete. The RPM Act ensures that transforming motor vehicles into race vehicles used exclusively in competition does not violate the Clean Air Act. For nearly 50 years, the practice was unquestioned until the EPA published proposed regulations in 2015 that deemed such conversions illegal and subject to severe penalties. While the EPA withdrew the problematic language from the final rule making last year, the agency still maintains the practice is unlawful. Motorsports competition involves tens of thousands of participants and vehicle owners each year, according to SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) and retail sales of racing products make up a $1.4 billion market annually. There are an estimated 1,300 racetracks operating across the U.S., including oval, road, track and off-road racetracks, the majority of which feature converted race vehicles that the EPA now considers to be illegal. The RPM Act, H.R. 350 would protect the sport of racing by blocking the EPA from over-regulating the industry and ensuring that it remains legal to convert street legal motor vehicles for racing purposes. BRITISH MOTORSPORTS THREATENED BY EU RULING The British government has just issued a document for public consultation that suggests temporarily implementing a European Court decision known as the “Vnuk judgement,” which would make it compulsory for anyone engaging in any and all forms of motor sport to have third party insurance. It would be applicable to all vehicles on any kind of land and even implementing it temporarily would mean 48

A joint statement issued by the Motorcycle Industry Association (MCIA), Auto Cycle Union (ACU) and the Amateur Motorcycle Association (AMCA) is calling on the government to exempt motor and motorcycle sport from any changes to insurance law that would arise from the ECJ ruling. “At a stroke, this would wipe out a successful industry and all the jobs that go with it, as well as eliminating a popular leisure pursuit for 1.9 million people, along with the boost that this gives to both local and national economies,” said Steve Kenward, CEO of the MCIA, speaking on behalf of all three parties. “If the government implements the Vnuk judgment un-amended, British motorcycle sport would end in the UK.” England is home to world leading motorcycle companies, motorsport teams and racing talent, and the industry contributes significantly to the British economy by employing over 50,000 people and generating a total of £11 billion of sales each year ($13.5 billion USD). The Vnuk ruling stems from a case involving a Slovenian farm worker, Damijan Vnuk, who was hurt falling from a ladder, which was hit by a reversing tractor. VICTORY MOTORCYCLES WINDS DOWN PRODUCTION Victory Motorcycles is to be wound down, the firm’s parent company Polaris has just announced. The move is to allow the firm to “narrow” its focus onto more profitable areas of the business, including Indian Motorcycle. A statement just released by Polaris says it will “immediately begin winding down its Victory Motorcycles brand and related operations.” Dealers will be assisted in “liquidating existing inventories” and parts will continue to be supplied for 10 years. Servicing and warranty coverage will also continue. “This was an incredibly difficult decision for me, my team and the Polaris Board of Directors,” said Polaris Industries Chairman and CEO Scott Wine. “Over the past 18 years, we have invested not only resources, but our hearts and souls, into forging the Victory Motor-

cycles brand… The experience, knowledge, infrastructure and capability we’ve built in those 18 years gave us the confidence to acquire and develop the Indian Motorcycle brand, so I would like to express my gratitude to everyone associated with Victory Motorcycles and celebrate your many contributions.” According to the written statement, Victory has “struggled to establish the market share needed to succeed and be profitable.” It says: “The competitive pressures of a challenging motorcycle market have increased the headwinds for the brand. Given the significant additional investments required for Victory to launch new global platforms that meet changing consumer preferences, and considering the strong performance and growth potential of Indian Motorcycle, the decision to more narrowly focus Polaris’ energy and investments became quite clear.” Wine added, “This decision will improve the profitability of Polaris and our global motorcycle business, and will materially improve our competitive stance in the industry.” “Our focus is on profitable growth, and in an environment of finite resources, this move allows us to optimize and align our resources behind both our premium, high-performing Indian Motorcycle brand and our innovative Slingshot brand, enhancing our focus on accelerating the success of those brands. Ultimately this decision will propel the industry-leading product innovation that is core to our strategy while fostering long-term growth and increased shareholder value.” 100% TARIFF PROPOSED ON EUROPEAN MOTORCYCLES Motorcycles are once again caught in the crossfire of an international trade policy standoff between the Office of United States Trade Representative and European Union, stemming from ongoing disagreements over meat products. During the late 1990’s, the World Trade Organization requested the E.U. lift its standing ban on U.S. beef; the E.U. declined, citing the meat’s failure to meet European health and hormone standards. In 2009, the U.S. negotiated a pact allowing some beef market access; but according to the White House, the agreement “has not worked as intended.” As a result, the U.S.T.R. is now considering a new petition from the U.S. beef lobby, invoked last December under a revised clause in the 1974 Trade Act that would create a “retaliation list” of foreign products which are subject to heavy import tariffs, to balance the export losses. Unsurprisingly, the U.S. beef lobby’s list consists largely of meat and animal parts, but it also includes a scattershot of other items, like chewing gum, electric hair clippers, and motorcycles. Two vehicular tariffs are proposed on the new retaliation list. One is for European bikes between 51cc and 250cc; the other, European bikes between 251cc to 500cc. Both would be subject to an import tax of 100% (or more). This would directly impact fifteen European manufacturers, including major brands like Aprilla, BMW, Ducati, Husqvarna, KTM, Piaggio and Vespa. In doubling prices of the most popular European motorcycles, these tariffs could potentially cripple the U.S. dealer network, putting thousands of salespeople and techs out of work. It’s not the first time the motorcycle industry has been in this position. In 1999, after the E.U. declined the W.T.O. directive, European motorcycles were included in -- and later dropped from -- a similar Thunder Roads®Mid-Atlantic

retaliation list. The same thing happened again in 2008, leading into negotiations for the current deal. The beef lobby’s new petition is currently in the review phase, and the U.S.T.R has opened the proposal to a public comment period ending January 30. “DEAD RED” LAW PASSES IN OHIO FOR ALL VEHICLES During a three-week lame-duck legislative session that ended in mid-December, state lawmakers in Ohio passed more than fifty new laws, including House Bill 154: Under certain conditions, drivers (and riders) can now proceed through a red light if you think your vehicle is not tripping the signal to change, but only if the intersection is clear. If a malfunctioning traffic signal doesn’t detect your car, truck or motorcycle; the law states that your vehicle must come to a complete stop first, and after a reasonable amount of time you can proceed through the intersection as long as the coast is clear and you must yield to oncoming traffic with the right of way. “If a driver does go through a red light, and there is an accident, they have the burden to prove it was malfunctioning,” explains local A.I.M. attorney (Aid to Injured Motorcyclists) Ralph C. Buss. “If a motorist or motorcyclist, or bicyclist, does come across a light that isn’t working, it is recommended that they should call police.” The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) invites Bike and Motorcycle riders to contact an ODOT advocate to report problems with traffic signals and roadway conditions via Email to bike.report@ dot.state.oh.us or call (614) 387-0722. ARIZONA “PAY FOR PLAY” HELMET LAW PROPOSAL A bill has been introduced to require motorcycle riders in Arizona to wear a helmet, except that “AN OPERATOR OR PASSENGER OF A MOTORCYCLE, ALL-TERRAIN VEHICLE OR MOTOR DRIVEN CYCLE WHO IS AT LEAST EIGHTEEN YEARS OF AGE IS EXEMPT FROM THE HELMET REQUIREMENT PRESCRIBED BY SUBSECTION A OF THIS SECTION IF THE OWNER PAYS A FEE (amount to be determined) WHEN REGISTERING THE VEHICLE.” According to HB 2046, introduced by Representative Dr. Randall Friese (D-Tucson), “THE FEE ALLOWS A PERSON TO OPERATE THE MOTORCYCLE, ALL-TERRAIN VEHICLE OR MOTOR DRIVEN CYCLE WITHOUT WEARING A HELMET AND ALLOWS A PASSENGER TO RIDE ON THE CYCLE WITHOUT WEARING A HELMET.” “Amending this statute would require all 200,000 motorcycle riders in Arizona to wear a helmet or be subjected to a fine of Five Hundred dollars which three hundred would be going towards Rep. Friese and his friends and their spinal cord trauma practices,” explains Michael Infanzon, lobbyist for ABATE of Arizona. “We have seen Rep. Friese try this game year after year and Arizona motorcyclists have succeeded in stopping this infringement on our right to choose to wear a helmet or not.” This proposed legislation has been referred to two different committees, Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and Rules Committee, and ABATE of Arizona has issued an IMMEDIATE CALL TO ACTION for riders to contact Rep. Friese and members of the House committees to kill the bill. “This is nothing more than a tax on motorcyclists and an infringement on our rights,” notes Infanzon.

A Mafia Godfather finds out that his bookkeeper, Guido, has cheated him out of $5 million dollars. His bookkeeper is deaf. That was the reason he got the job in the first place. It was assumed that Guido would hear nothing, so he would never have to testify in court. When the Godfather goes to confront Guido about his missing $5 million, he brings along his lawyer who happens to know sign language. The Godfather tells the lawyer, “Ask him where the money is!” The lawyer, using sign language, asks Guido, “Where’s the money?” Guido signs back, “I don’t know what you are talking about.” The lawyer tells the Godfather, “He says he doesn’t know what you’re talking about.” The Godfather pulls out a 38, puts it to Guido’s head and says, “Ask him again and if he doesn’t tell me, I’ll kill him!” The lawyer signs to Guido, “He’ll kill you if you don’t tell him.” Guido trembles and signs, “OK, OK! The money is in a brown briefcase, buried behind the shed at my cousin Bruno’s house.” The Godfather asks the lawyer, “What did he say?” The lawyer replies, “He says screw you, you don’t have the balls to pull the trigger.” _________________________________________________ During a visit to my doctor, I asked him, “How do you determine whether or not an older person should be put in a Nursing Home?” “Well,” he said, “we fill up a bathtub, then we offer a teaspoon, a teacup and a bucket to the person to empty the bathtub.” “Oh, I understand,” I said. “A normal person would use the bucket because it is bigger than the spoon or the teacup.” “No” he said. “A normal person would pull the plug. Do you want a bed near the window?” _________________________________________________ Bubba was taking a dump and checking out FB and read that on average; an American man will have sex two to three times a week. Whereas, a Japanese man will have sex only one or two times a year. This was very upsetting news to Bubba. He immediately called his best buddy, Earl, and said, “I know you’re going to be as shocked as I was, but I just come to find out that I’m Japanese.” _________________________________________________ The location of your mailbox shows you how far away from your house you can be in a robe before you start looking like a patient who’s just flew out and over the Cuckoo’s Nest. _________________________________________________

The other day my kinda’ ditzy neighbor with green hair (she changes it every month), came running up to me in the driveway jumping for joy! No judgement. it’s just her “thang”. I didn’t know why she was jumping so excitedly but I thought, “what the hell”, and I starting jumping up and down along with her as that’s just the best way to pacify her. She said, “I have some really great news!” I said, “Great. Tell me why you’re so happy.” She really is enthusiastic and sweet. She stopped jumping and breathing heavily from all the jumping up and down, told me that she was pregnant. I knew she’d been trying for a while so I told her, “That’s great I couldn’t be happier for you!” Then she said, “There’s more” I asked, “What do you mean there’s more?”. She said, “Well, we are not having just one baby. We are going to have TWINS!” Amazed at how she could know so soon after getting pregnant, I asked her how she knew. She said.... “Well, that’s the easy part. I went to WallyWorld and they actually had a home pregnancy kit in a TWIN-pack. Both tests came out positive!” _________________________________________________ I think it’s pretty cool how Chinese people made a language entirely out of tattoos. Just sayin’. I can’t understand why women are okay that Penny’s has an older women’s clothing line named, “Sag Harbor.” _________________________________________________ The teacher asked the class to use the word “fascinate” in a sentence. Molly put up her hand and said, “My family went to my granddad’s farm, and we all saw his pet sheep. It was fascinating.” The teacher said, “That was good, but I wanted you to use the word ‘fascinate,’ not ‘fascinating’.” Sally raised her hand. She said, “My family went to see Rock City and I was fascinated.” The teacher said, “Well, that was good Sally, but I wanted you to use the word ‘fascinate’.” Little Johnny raised his hand, but the teacher hesitated because she had been burned by Little Johnny before. She finally decided there was no way he could damage the word “fascinate,” so she called on him. Johnny said, “My aunt Carolyn has a sweater with ten buttons, but her boobs are so big she can only fasten eight!” The teacher sat down and put her head on her desk.
