Hallelujah & Amen……Biskit had her surgery and all went well, although the flight getting there was a total cluster-puck and once there, although the Medical Center in Mexico had arranged for a nice room at the Marriott, a shuttle bus came early; like 7am to pick Nina up to take her to the Med. Center and Brian was so exhausted from all the plane fiasco the day before he just told her to go on and he’d meet her there as she wasn’t scheduled for surgery until around noon. So Brian rents a car, gets to the border, and this is fast becoming a “you’ve been punked” video. They tell him at the border that taxi’s and rental cars are not permitted across the border. So Brian has to call up the rental company to pick-up the car and then he literally has to walk across the border! The show that we watch all the time called “The Bridge” about the Mexican border will now forever remind Brian of him stomping across the border. I laughed so damn hard when he called to bitch to me about the whole story and I started imitating Mexicans saying, Oh, si, Gringo Sasquatch has come to town”, “he looks very, very pissed off, si”. That by the end of the phone call he was even laughing at the whole situation himself. Then, once across the border, there’s nothing but taxi’s waiting to take your pesos. So, they take him to this one hospital and it looks like what’s left of the Alamo. He’s wanting to know where his daughter is because he’s not going to allow her to have surgery there, but then a Nurse comes out and explains to the taxi driver where Brian is supposed to be and when they get to the practically new Medical Center Brian is very relieved. Me too. Whew! He said all the Nurses wore the crisp, white uniforms like in the old days and the starched white caps and they used glass syringes. Crazy! But at least it was super clean, well-staffed and everyone was very kind and helpful. It just goes to show that if you do your research, check your sources, but most of all……have FAITH, then you’re good to go.

Nina has returned home and is back at work and is losing a pound a day and although she’s still on all nutrient and protein liquids, she gets to start on solid food in 2 weeks. She’s already lost 30 pounds but to know that she’s changed her life for the better and she’s chosen to be healthy and love herself enough to change and to be here with us……. to choose L I F E ! “A common argument against civilian gun ownership is based on what could be called a Sheep vs. Wolves model. Basically the argument goes, there are two kinds of people who live in this country: the peace-loving, guileless and socially well-adjusted individuals who do no harm (Sheep) and the evil, heartless, twisted predators that ruthlessly maim and murder innocent people (Wolves). How do we go about sorting the safe Sheep from the dangerous Wolves? According to some, the answer is neat and simple: The Wolves have guns! This kind of bi-polar political argument is popular—and seemingly effective—because it boils a multi-faceted social issue down to just two choices; either you’re a “good guy” or a “bad guy,” a victim or the victimizer. But now is the right time for us to talk about and promote the third category of citizen, one that’s purposefully ignored. If we’re going to continue with the Sheep vs. Wolves model, then the overlooked third player is the Shepherd. The Shepherds in our society are those who consciously take a stand against the Wolves in defense of the Sheep, willingly placing themselves in danger to protect those who cannot defend themselves. They are motivated by patriotism, a sense of duty, and devotion to their family and friends. Some Shepherds choose to wear a uniform and others carry a badge. But most of them in this country are honest, hard-working people who exercise their Second Amendment right to legally carry a concealed firearm or to have personal protection and sporting firearms in their homes. In other words, their motives for owning firearms are both pure and noble. But is it enough to know in your heart that you’re a good, responsible gun owner? It’s time to do more than just feel good about ourselves. We need to be the kind of gun owners that cannot be easily impugned and who do not simply stand by and allow this political fiasco to continue unchallenged. The first step to being a responsible gun owner is to declare yourself a Shepherd.”

The Glock 19 ~ Gen 3 vs. Gen 4

What are some of the differences between the Gen 3 and Gen 4? The differences are few. The grip is a little different. The texturing is different and gives a little different feel. But mainly the grip is different because it is a little shorter and then you can add back straps to make it bigger. The medium back strap makes the grip the same size as the Gen 3. Glock has also started adding a set of beaver tail equipped back straps. A medium and large one are now in each box. Glock started including 3 magazines instead of the 2 that came with the previous generations. It’s a nice touch since most companies are now including only 1 or 2. One of the subtle changes is the magazine release. A lot of people that customize the Gen 3 put an extended magazine release on their guns, so Glock just did it for them. The release doesn’t stick out further or just bigger around, it extends towards the back so it makes the push a shorter reach for your thumb. Internally they changed a couple things. In an interactive dialog, Guest Speaker, Tony Mendez, retired CIA Operative and author of the book, “Master of Disguise,” described how he led the rescue of six U.S. diplomats from Tehran, Iran, during the 1979 Iran hostage crisis. The Oscar winning Best Picture ‘ARGO’ is based on Tony’s book. Honorary Chair, country music singer and songwriter, Ronnie McDowell sang the National Anthem with Stephen Cochran, and Joe Elmore, host of Tennessee Crossroads, was Master of Ceremony. Genma Holmes and her team turned the breakfast event into one filled with the intrigue and suspense of the CIA. Sean was a Warrant Officer with Company Bravo, 2nd Battalion, 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne), Fort Campbell, KY. He was killed in action in Afghanistan on June 2, 2013. This award is given to an OSDN staff member who has demonstrated the strength of character and dedication to service represented by Warrant Officer Sean Mullen. The overall goal of the breakfast event is to build awareness of the needs of veterans in our community and to raise funds to support OSDN,” said event chair and board member, Lynda Evjen.

“Convicted but Not Converted”

Have you asked the big question: “What the heck is wrong with Christians today?” We have all these different Christian religions and denominations and all claiming to be the only way! They can’t get along with other Christian denominations and that isn’t bad enough, there’s a lot of Christians that can’t get along with others inside the same Church. As Pastor of a Church, an officer in the TN COC overseeing the Christian clubs and motorcycle ministries and as a member of NCOM National Christian Unity Council, I hear a lot of conflicting comments such as: “The Lord told me this” others say: “The Lord told me that.” God does not conflict Himself, somebody is wrong. The problem is that there are a lot of people that have been “convicted” of their sins, wrong doings and are truly sorry for what they did, but they were never “converted” to the Lord Jesus Christ. They have mistaken “conviction for conversion.” Once you have accepted the Lord Jesus Christ into your heart there should be a change in your spirit man. You should want to know more about God, grow in His Word and the change in your life is proof of your “conversion.” But just feeling sorry for your mistakes is not enough. “Conviction” usually comes after a person is caught, and they swear they will never do it again, but they do because there has been no “conversion.” They don’t have the power to change or the “want-tos.” They end up joining a church, getting baptized, but all this is just an outside change, there must be a change on the inside; “You must be born again.” 10

There is a “Hollywood spirit” in the Church today, self-promoting, political positioning. Everybody wants a title: Pastor, Prophet, Apostle, or Bishop. Everybody wants to be a boss over a motorcycle ministry, they can’t take instructions or be in order with their current motorcycle ministry so they break off and start their own club, and they all claim to hear from God. They are confusing their own carnal desires, their own thoughts and feelings, then claiming its Gods direction. It always starts out in a “silly error” but it can develop into “demonic promptings” very quickly. One only has to look back at the tragedies where cult leaders have killed members and said that the Lord told them to do it. Mothers drowning their children, Charles Manson claimed that he heard from God, Jim Jones and the incident at Waco TX. A man’s heart condition determines his hearing condition. Pride and ego will stop one from hearing from God. There are a lot of people that “Know the word of God, but don’t know the voice of God.” John 10:27 “My sheep know my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.” One rule of thumb to always remember: God will never tell you something apart from His Word! If it’s not in the Book, it’s not God! The Holy Spirit will bring “Conviction” and the Blood of Jesus will bring “conversion.” Until next time, keep your face in the wind and your kickstand up. FRENCH ONION SOUP, MADE SIMPLE

PARADISE PUDDING

3 Cans of Campbell’s French Onion Soup 1 Good Size Large Onion (optional) 1 Bag of Butter Style Croutons 1 Pack of Sargento’s Deli-Sliced Swiss Cheese Pour all 3 cans of your soup into a medium size sauce pan. If you want additional, large strands of fresh onion to mix with your canned, cut your onion into 1/4 inch strips and saute’ until tender in margarine. Add to saucepan and heat through. Take (4) crockpot style bowls (oven safe) and pour your soup mixture 3/4 up to top in each bowl. Add apprx. 10 croutons per bowl and smoosh down into soup. Not till soggy, just so not floating on top. Add at least 3 squares of Swiss thin-cut, deli-style cheese and place under broiler until cheese is golden brown and bubbly. Remove. Serve immediately with hot, crusty French bread and a cool, crisp salad. The first year I learned how to make this, I was 20, and I bet you I made it 100 times that year alone. It’s one of my all-time favorite, easy soups. And, if you serve with bread and salad, it truly is a meal in itself.

2 Cups Ice Cold Milk 1 Pkg. Instant Vanilla Pudding Mix 1/4 Cup Honey 2 tsp. Grated Orange Peel 1/4 tsp. Real Vanilla Extract 1 Cup Whipping Cream, Whipped 1 Medium Firm Banana, Sliced 1 Can (11 oz.) Mandarin Orange Sections, drained 1/4 Cup Flaked Coconut 1/4 Cup Sliced Almonds In a ceramic bowl, blend milk and pudding mix according to directions. Add honey, orange peel and vanilla. Fold in the whipped cream. In individual, see-thru dessert dishes, layer half of the pudding, banana slices, orange sections, coconut and almonds, Repeat the layers. Cover w/ Saran Wrap and chill under ice cold. Put some Nilla Wafers in a ziplock bag and crush them up with a wooden mallot or with a rolling pin and sprinkle crumbs all over top of your pudding. Yummy.

THE BEST TASTING AND EASIEST CORNBREAD STUFFING YOU EVER ATE OR MADE 2 Boxes of Stove Top Stuffing Cornbread Mix 1 Pkg. of Large Mushrooms, Presliced 1/2 Cup of Chicken Broth 1 Stick of Land O’ Lakes Butter 1 Medium Onion, Large Chop 2 Large Celery Stalks, Small Chop Saute’ your shrooms, onion, and celery in margarine in a medium fry pan. In a large cooking pot, prepare the stuffing as per directions, only substitute 1/2 of water called for and use 1/2 cup chicken broth instead. Add 1/2 of stick of butter to boiling water, then remove pot from burner and add your stuffing envelopes, slightly stir to moisten, cover and let stuffing absorb liquid. When ready, remove lid and transfer to large, ceramic bowl, fluffing up stuffing as you put into bowl, then add your saute mixture of mushrooms, onions and celery and cut the remaining 1/2 of butter stick into pats and distribute around and then gently mix with a wooden spoon until all veggies are distributed evenly. Add salt and pepper to taste. You can also put this mixture into a baking dish and place under broiler for a crusty, crispy topping. Either way, this stuffing rocks!

4 Cups of Premium Brand Instant Mashed Taters 1 Cup (8 oz.) Sour Cream 1 Pkg. (8 oz.) Cream Cheese, softened 1 tsp. Dried Chives, or 1 Tbl. Snipped Fresh Chives 1/4 tsp. Garlic Powder 1/4 Cup Dry Bread Crumbs 1 Tbl. Butter or Premium Margarine, melted 1 Cup Shredded Cheddar Cheese In a large bowl, combine potatoes, sour cream, cream cheese, chives and garlic powder. Turn into a greased 2-qt. casserole. Combine bread crumbs with melted butter; sprinkle over potatoes. Bake at 350 degrees for 50 min. Top w/ cheese and serve immediately.

FROM GOLDWINGDOCS.COM THUNDER ROADS OHIO CONTRIBUTOR Tires age. As tires get older, they get more stiff and less resilient, more susceptible to cracking, and overall more brittle. Even if tires are not worn out, they should be replaced after six or seven years. “But I never have tires last six or seven years!” you may say. That may be - but what if the tires were three years old when you bought them “new”? Or when you bought that “new to you” motorcycle - how old were the tires on it? How can you tell? It’s a well-kept secret in the tire industry that a) tires are unsafe after six or seven years, and that b) tires that are sold new are not necessarily new - they may have sat on the shelf for years before being sold to you. They look new, they were sold “as new” - but they are not new. Fortunately, there is a very simple way to find out the actual age of the tire, starting from its manufacture. Stamped into the side of every tire is a date code, that indicates the actual date of manufacture. It looks something like this:

Some tires will have a longer string of digits, like “NA2M4206” - in this case, it’s the last four digits we are interested in, so this example would be the 42nd week of 2006. What if your tire only has three digits? Throw it away! Tires made before 2000 used only one digit for the year. So a tire with the code “015” was made in January of 1995...or 1985!

How to Inspect Your Motorcycle Tires Start off with a visual inspection. Under well-lit conditions, look for any signs of punctures (such as nails or shards of glass) which might potentially lead to a loss of pressure or a blowout. Bulging or cracking might also occur on old tires; make sure you roll your bike forward in order to see all surface areas that come in contact with the road.

Check Your Tire Tread

Adequate tire tread not only ensures tire integrity, it allows water to be channeled away from the contact patch, which helps maintain grip under wet conditions.

In this case, it’s the number “4209”. In some cases, this will be prefixed with “DOT”, as in “DOT4209”. The first two numbers in the code is the week of manufacture - 52 weeks in a year, remember. The last two are the year - in this case, the 09 represents 2009. This can be approximated to the following - this is for the year 2010, and it will change slightly from year to year, but for the most part, this is how to convert the week number to the month:

Using a quarter, ensure that when placed within the tread groove, there’s enough tire tread to extend past the top of Washington’s head. If it doesn’t, it’s probably time to replace your tire. Tip - Go with George, NOT Abe. You may have heard about doing the “penny test” to see when it’s time to get new tires. Some experts want to toss that coin test in favor of the quarter. The penny test is simple. Hold a penny so that you can see Abraham Lincoln’s head. Now insert Lincoln’s portrait, scalp-side down, into a groove in your

tire tread. If your can still see the top of his head, it’s time for new tires. That works because the distance between the edge of a penny and the top of Lincoln’s head is about 2/32 of an inch (in normal speech, that would be 1/16 of inch, but tire treads are measured in 32nds of an inch). But now some experts advise a more conservative approach. Instead of Lincoln’s head on a penny, use George Washington’s head on a quarter. That’s about 4/32, or 1/8, of an inch. In track tests conducted by the tire Web site TireRack.com, using a quarter instead of a penny resulted in 24 percent shorter wet-road stopping distances. If you can see Washington’s wig, your tires are as close as you’ll want to get to being bald.

If they’re overinflated, simply bleed them by depressing the center of the Schrader valve until they are properly inflated. If you check tires after a few hours of riding, anything more than a 10% gain in pressure could indicate they’re working too hard. If that’s the case, you’ll want to lighten the load and/or slow down.

Check Your Tire Pressure Tire pressure is especially crucial on motorcycles, and handling and ride quality can change dramatically with small adjustments. Tires also wear more quickly when they’re not properly inflated, adding yet another reason to check tire pressure regularly. The best time to check tire pressure is before you start riding while the tires are cool; once the bike is in motion, tire temperatures warm up, which changes the density and pressure of the air inside. Always use your owner’s manual for recommended PSI levels. If you’re using non-standard tire sizes on your bike, go

SOOOO…… YOU WANT TO RIDE

THE TAIL OF THE DRAGON? BY JOEY LOVOIE THUNDER ROADS MISSISSIPPI Some call it US 129…some call it The Dragon…whatever you want to call it, it is about as close to heaven on earth as I have ever been. I rode it for the first time in 2004 and have been back every year since then. There is a certain kind of magic up in those mountains. The eleven mile stretch of road known worldwide for its 318 curves (resembling a dragon’s tail- hence the name) makes for a ride that is exhilarating, awe inspiring, and humbling all at the same time. Some of the sharpest curves have been given names over the years…Gravity Cavity, Beginner’s End, and Brake or Bust Bend just to name a few. Those names have not been given lightly. Make no mistake about it, the Dragon is a dangerous road. Fatalities are a fact of life up there. The biggest mistakes I’ve witnessed fall into the “common sense” category. I’ve seen even well experienced riders lose their sensibilities while embarking on the amazingly exciting, yet still perilous journey that is known as riding the Tail of the Dragon. I’ve put together a small list of reminders for those of you that wish to take on the challenge of US 129. 1.

Wear your protective gear! As tempting as it is to let that fresh mountain air envelope you, doing so without the proper clothing might make it the last air that you breathe. When I ride, I wear long pants, leather jacket, full face D.O.T. approved helmet, boots, and gloves. I have wrecked on the Dragon before, but thanks to my protective clothing, I walked away unscathed. The speed limits are set at the posted speeds for a reason! This is not to say that you have to act as if you were driving Miss Daisy, but you do need to be aware that the speed limits set for those curves are there for your protection and the protection of others on the road. A lot of the curves up there are called tight or “technical” curves. Follow the

speed limit because if you go around them any faster than recommended, the only three options you have are either going off the side of a mountain, running into a mountain, or blowing the curve- going outside your driving area and into oncoming traffic. Know your bike and your skill set and ride within the limitations of both. There are some motorcycle rental places in that area that will gladly take your money and let you rent a bike to ride the Dragon. If that is an option you choose, I highly recommend renting the bike for a long enough period of time that you know how it performs and handles before you take it on the Dragon. Contrary to popular belief, sport bikes are not made for speed. They are made for handling. Be courteous! US 129 is a public road - not a private racetrack. There are other motorcyclists, cars, and trucks that travel it daily. There has always been some discontent between the sport bike riders and the cruisers when it comes to the Dragon. I’ve ridden it both ways and can see the validity in both of their stands on the subject. Bottom line is just to be courteous to everyone else on the road. If you’re on a sport bike, don’t pass folks when there’s a double yellow line and don’t fly by them so fast that you put yourself and them at risk. If you’re on a cruiser, don’t ride the middle of the road just to slow the sport bike behind you down. Pull to the side and let them pass. You’re not going to teach anyone respect or the proper way to ride by putting both your lives at risk. I’ve ridden the Dragon solo and I’ve ridden it with a group. If you’re riding solo, keep in mind that there is no cell phone service up in that stretch of the mountains. If you get hurt out there, you’re stuck until someone sees you, then goes back down the mountain to get cell service and call for help, and until help makes its way up the mountain to your location. So be extra careful and aware of your surroundings! If you are riding with a group, make sure to have a designated meet up spot in case anyone in the group gets

separated. Also be sure to still pay close attention to your surroundings at all times. It’s easy to get caught up in just “following the leader” or looking at all the amazing scenery, but if you do that and the leader goes down, there’s a strong likelihood that you will go down as well. Make sure your bike and all your gear is legal! You will be stopped for not wearing the proper helmet, having an expired or missing tag, not having your tag mounted in the proper place, etc. Those tickets are highly expensive! If you normally wear a novelty helmet, it is much more cost effective to stop along the way and buy a D.O.T. approved helmet rather than risk the cost of a ticket.

Another thing to be aware of is that there are several professional photographers that are out there every day taking pictures of riders as they go by. Don’t let yourself get distracted by them. 24

Maintain your lane and keep your eyes on the road. They make sure to stay out of the way of traffic and are situated off the road, but they can inadvertently startle you if you’re not paying attention when you’re riding and happen to come up on them. Just be aware that they are out there. They are there to capture that moment of you being on the Dragon. You can purchase the pictures from them if you would like. Their business cards are at the local gift shops. One of the last things I’d like to mention is the Tree of Shame at Deal’s Gap Motorcycle Resort. It is a tree with a collection of various parts that have been left by people who have wrecked on the Dragon. Some have been left by loved ones of those who have died while riding the Dragon. It serves as a reality check of what can happen when you take on the challenge of riding those curves.

Even if you’re not superstitious by nature, why chance it? Ride it first, then buy your sticker! Ok, enough of the warnings! Time to move on to some fun stuff! I’ve been asked several times which I prefer riding in the mountains – my sport bike or my Harley. It’s a completely different experience and I enjoy both immensely. The thrill of the sport bike is always great…I started my motorcycling hobby on sport bikes. Since having a Harley though, I’ve learned to appreciate the scenery a little more. ingly beautiful up there. Both bikes have provided me with the “wind therapy” that makes every trip to the Dragon worthwhile. I love the whole region up there. It is a truly motorcycle friendly area. The local businesses thrive on the motorcycle community’s visits to their area from all over the world to ride up there. Be sure to stop in and support them. You will always find friendly faces, great food, and folks willing to sit around a campfire at night swapping stories.

When I go on vacation to the Dragon, I usually go first to an area in Georgia (referred to as the Georgia Loop by the locals) and ride Blood Mountain, which is in between Blairsville, GA and Dahlonega, GA. Dahlonega is a tourist town and is actually the site of the first American gold rush in the country. It’s a wonderful area with quaint shops, antiques, great little restaurants, and some of the best local wines you’ll find anywhere. On more recent trips though, I started staying in Blairsville because it’s not quite so touristy and has a real old town feel to it. I usually stay at Seasons Inn and highly recommend it if you make your way up there. The owners are very motorcycle friendly; the rooms are always clean and nice; the rates are very reasonable; and they provide nice little extras- such as rags to clean your bike. A great place to eat while in town is at the Hole in the Wall restaurant. Very unique place with great food. Once I’ve ridden Blood Mountain, I usually head on up to Deal’s Gap, which usually takes me about an hour and a half. I always stop at Wheeler’s Performance shop and say hi and talk to a person I consider one of the best and friendliest motorcycle mechanics in that whole area! Folks, he is the man to see for all your motorcycle needs! Now for lodging, there are a lot of places to stay in that area, but for the best rates and the best access, I normally stay at Deal’s Gap Motorcycle Resort at the Dragon. The rates are very reasonable and it’s an interesting place to sit back and just watch the traffic when you’re not out riding. In the peak season there are hundreds of people a day coming in and out and you get to talk to people from all over the world. Because of its location situated right at the beginning of the Tail of the

If they are booked or if you just prefer a more rustic type accommodation, I highly recommend the Punkin Center Motorcycle Resort run by two very good friends of mine, Jody and Sherry Montgomery. It is comprised of individual cabins with clean beds and hot showers, but no cable TV. There is a kitchen/bar where you can go have a beer or soft drink and watch TV if you would like. When I have stayed there in the past though, I have preferred to just disconnect from the outside world and enjoy the beauty of the surroundings. If you are staying there, you’ve got to try the pizza. It is handmade and out of this world! Mr. Jody and Ms. Sherry are great people who will sit down with you and talk to you about anything under the sun. If you’re in the area, stop in and say hello! I just can’t say enough about the natural beauty of the area, the friendliness of everyone you’ll encounter, or the thrill that you will get from riding the Dragon. I fell in love with it on my first trip in 2004, and it has been my choice destination for all my vacations since then. If you haven’t been, make plans to go. Dear Fellow Veterans and Patriots of Tennessee: I’m going to jump out there and raise something this month that has me at a high hover. It may be past history by the time this article appears but even so, it is food for thought and I believe there is a lesson here someplace. As I write this we are still under what is being termed a government shutdown. Near as I can tell, the government isn’t really shut down. When I turn on TV there are wall to wall politicians, the military is still capturing bad guys, some of America’s finest are giving their lives on foreign soil and the tax man is still digging in my wallet. So is the government really shut down? I don’t think so. Shut down means I can go where I want, when I want and nobody in government is around to tell me no. That’s not happening. Have you ever been in a relationship where you are putting those paychecks in the bank and when you look in the checking account you find the money is gone but there are new high heels in the closet or Aunt Emma is thanking you for that special figurine she received on her birthday that you knew nothing about? Well here is what I gather a government shutdown is; it’s when you spent all the money and your borrowing is cut off. Over the past several years our government has printed an extra trillion dollars of new money each year. They didn’t just go to Kinkos and print the bills up, they also had to go to China or someplace and borrow the money to back the bills they printed. At my house we call that going into debt. Last fall I asked my wife if I could buy a new motorcycle and she said “NO DEBT!” If I was the government I could just go print enough for a bike and tell the bank to back it and I’d be off riding. How cool to just decide you want a new bike and you get it. I guess I’m going to have to do better at educating my wife on how the world really

works. By my calculation I should have three or four motorcycles by now and be able to ride them when I want to. Maybe I should have told her the house was shut down and we couldn’t afford to keep the bathroom open until she approved my borrowing? To spend one trillion dollars you would have to spend 2.7 billion dollars a day for a whole year. It would be hard but I’d sure give it a try. One trillion dollars would buy fifty million brand new $20,000 motorcycles. If our government had its stuff together they could have bought every biker in America an acre of land in the first year, a deluxe garage in the second year, a big set of Snap-on tools in the third year, given everyone a new motorcycle in year four and this year we’d have $20,000 for gas money and fun on the road. We wouldn’t be shut down at all we’d be racking up the miles big time. Next year we’d be due for another new motorcycle or a big bore rebuild. What’s sad is that instead of going with the Bulldog plan to mobilize America on two wheels they spent the money and don’t have any for important things. They don’t have a single motorcycle to show for all that spending. Now we hear they spent the milk money and can’t afford to pay the families of dead soldiers what they agreed to pay them if they died in service. What’s up with keeping World War II vets from visiting their memorial or keeping any American from seeing a National Park? Whose park is it anyway? Don’t those parks belong to the American people? When I was younger I was in the same situation the government is in now. I spent money I didn’t have and then needed something important and had to do without. Boy I had a great time but like the government, it catches up with you at some point and you have to pay the piper but I never tried to tell my neighbor he couldn’t use his driveway. I think we should let our Congressman know we want a new bike out of the next Trillion. What do you think? Keep the faith. Thank a vet for the freedoms we still enjoy and support politicians who will bring back the ones we’ve lost. Fly the flag of the people and be proud you’re an American. SPORTBIKERS ATTACK SUV IN NYC Headlines across America shrieked in condemnation over a road rage incident involving a swarm of sportbike riders in New York who were caught on tape viciously attacking a family in an SUV, but according to high-profile civil rights attorney Gloria Allred we haven’t heard the whole story. Everything started when a driver bumped a biker on the Henry Hudson Parkway in NYC and took off, sparking the chase and vicious assault that followed. After the initial contact, the now-famous helmet cam footage that captivated the country shows a rider cutting in front of a Range Rover, slowing down and gesturing at the driver just before the SUV driver clipped his back tire. Following a brief exchange on the side of the road, the SUV driver is seen hitting the gas and speeding off recklessly through the crowd of bikers, running over one of them. A group of riders pursued the vehicle and miles later when it was forced to a halt in heavy traffic, several of the bikers bashed in the windows and dragged the driver out and beat him in front of his wife and infant child. Allred is representing rider Edwin “Jay” Mieses, the 33-year old father of two from Massachusetts who was ran over and left permanently paralyzed by the SUV driver during his “escape”, and she told FOX News during an October 8th interview on “Hannity” that; “First of all, what’s not being talked about is what happened several miles before Edwin was run over, and we have evidence of this and police are aware, that the SUV was in the right lane several miles before and decided to move over into the center lane, HIT a bike and kept going and then several miles later hit a second rider and then ran over Edwin, crushing him under the SUV without any warning as he was standing there trying to get everyone to move on.” “Ticked off” by the media’s unfair portrayal of the events, Allred said there’s no evidence of intimidation on the part of the bikers prior to the accident and the subsequent attack, and riders insist that the SUV driver was the aggressor. “He drove erratically and bumped the bike on the side,” one rider told WABC TV, corroborating that the driver had already hit one motorcycle prior to the confrontation. “When he bumped that bike on the side, that biker became aggressive because his life was in danger.” Three bikers have thus far been arrested for gang assault and other crimes, but the SUV driver has not been charged as the case continues under investigation, so stay tuned. POSITIONING PLATES TO PERMIT LICENSE PLATE RECOGNITION The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) wants to change the angle of motorcycle license plates and has requested comments on a proposed amendment to a safety standard on “lamps, reflective devices and associated equipment to allow the license plate mounting surface on motorcycles to be at an angle of up to 30 degrees beyond vertical” (on horizontal installed plates). According to the agency, the change would bring the U.S. rule more in line with European regulations, increase design flexibility without compromising safety or increasing costs, and allow license plate recognition technology used by law enforcement organizations to continue reading license plate characters. CDC ASKED TO BACK OFF MOTORCYCLE ISSUES Congressman Tom Petri (R-WI) has authored a letter to the Centers for Disease Control requesting that the CDC stop investigating 30

“Given the demands on your budget and the unique ability of the CDC to address such pressing issues as heart disease, diabetes, cancer, Alzheimer’s and a host of other conditions, and issues which afflict millions of Americans and others around the globe, we encourage you to direct your attention and resources to areas that are not currently already being addressed elsewhere in the government,” wrote Petri in the letter he is requesting fellow members of Congress to co-sign. With the government shutdown ending, now is the time to contact your Congressional Representatives and ask them to sign onto Rep. Petri’s letter to the CDC. NEW NEVADA LAW ALLOWS MOTORCYCLISTS TO GO ON RED Under a new law, motorcyclists will be allowed to go through red lights. Starting October 1, if a motorcyclist comes to a red light at a signal that doesn’t seem to be working or has failed to detect the motorcycle, the rider will be allowed to go through. Assembly Bill 117 enables motorcyclists, moped, trimobile and bike riders to go through red lights after waiting for two rounds of the signal without getting a green light. The Nevada Highway Patrol said signals use sensors to detect metal, which may make it more difficult to detect motorcycles than vehicles. The new law still requires motorcycles to stop at a light, and only proceed through a red if it’s safe. The state has launched a website to educate people on the new law. Nevada joins a dozen other states that allow riders to proceed through malfunctioning red lights. Similar “dead red” laws have previously been enacted in Minnesota (2002), Tennessee (2003), Arkansas (2005), Idaho (2006), Wisconsin (2006), North Carolina (2007), South Carolina (2008), Missouri (2008), Oklahoma (2010), Kansas (2011), Virginia (2011) and Illinois (except Chicago - 2012). In Texas and California, state law requires stoplights to be fitted with sensors that detect motorcycles. TEXAS BIKERS AND TRIKERS CELEBRATE A SUCCESSFUL LEGISLATIVE SESSION Previously in Texas, three-wheeled motorcycle training courses were costly and not widely available, due to mandated motorcycle training curricula from the Motorcycle Safety Foundation that limited the flexibility of the Department of Public Safety (DPS) in approving otherwise appropriate curricula. This was limiting for motorcyclists who do not wish to or cannot drive a two-wheeled motorcycle (perhaps due to a physical disability) but want to drive a three-wheeled cycle. S.B. 763, “AN ACT relating to motorcycle training, the enforcement of certification standards for motorcycles, and the license requirements for a three-wheeled motorcycle,” changes from mandatory to optional whether curricula includes the curricula developed by a particular foundation, giving DPS the flexibility to authorize other curricula that meet the statutory and regulatory requirements of Texas. The new law also adds a three-wheeled restriction to the Class M license of those Texans who take only a three-wheeled training course. Currently, a motorcyclist who has only taken a three-wheeled training course can obtain a Class M license which permits them to legally operate a two-wheeled motorcycle. “Another successful Legislative session for Texas Bikers, and Texas Trikes too!,” announced Paul Landers, TMRAII Legislative Liaison and National Lt. Commander of the US Defenders/C.O.I.R. “For the first time, a new classification for this group of three wheeled BIKERS. Personally, I feel this builds unity and gives more support to our political initiatives, trike owners can now be a part of what we do and feel good about it!”

MOTORCYCLISTS HOPE TO CHANGE NEW ILLINOIS POKER RUN LAW

A new law meant to protect poker runs is creating frustration. House Bill 2520, the “Poker Run Act”, was drawn up earlier this year because of concerns that poker runs were a type of illegal gambling. The bill to legalize poker runs for charities and Not For Profit organizations was passed with overwhelming support and was signed into law in August, moving the fundraisers under the Illinois Charitable Games Act. However, the regulations means charities and poker run stops all need to pay for a license. All locations involved are now required to pay a fee of $50 a year. The non-profit behind the event must have a permit that costs $200. Any funds raised will be taxed at 3%. Motorcycle groups are now looking for a new solution. Poker runs bring out bikers and bring in big dollars for charity causes, but many fear the new law will put an end to many of the events. The push for change came when the motorcycle advocacy group, ABATE of Illinois, wanted to protect poker runs, which some states are cracking down on as illegal gaming. According to WSIL TV (ABC), the Illinois Department of Revenue says lawmakers didn’t ask for their help in drafting the legislation so now the agency is enforcing those taxes and fees, but they’re also talking with bill sponsors about finding a new category for poker runs. Representative Rich Brauer has already drawn up a bill that would put poker runs under the jurisdiction of the county where they’re being held. BIKER DISCRIMINATION AT OKLAHOMA STATE FAIR On the 15th of September 2013, two members of The Horsemen MC out of Moore, OK went the State Fair of Oklahoma, walking past four Oklahoma City police officers at the gates who watched the two of them buy tickets and enter the fair. They entered with club colors on and the Police made eye contact but let them in. About an hour into being there, a Sergeant of the OKC P.D. pulled them aside and told them to remove their cuts or colors, whereupon the two Horsemen refused. The Police then told the two riders they had one chance to leave and if they didn’t, they would be arrested. The riders then agreed and started heading toward the gate. They told them they would like their ticket money back since there are no signs posted informing motorcyclists they were not allowed to wear Colors in the fair. They did get their ticket money back but had to give their personal information to the police so they could run their identity through to see if they had any warrants. They took pictures of their vests and insignia, wanted to list their tattoos and informed them that they were a “gang”. November 2013

“The Horsemen walked away without being arrested but hopefully our 11/1/11 5:06 PM Riding Community can understand there is a serious problem with this,” said Tiger Mike Revere in his report in the ABATE of Oklahoma newsletter. “In the meantime, club members who have been mistreated at this point will be interacting with attorneys for possible litigation.” Tiger Mike, who is the ABATE Liaison for the OK Confederation of Clubs and also serves on the National Coalition of Motorcyclists (NCOM) board of directors, encourages any biker who experiences discriminatory treatment to go to the Oklahoma Confederation of Clubs website at: www.okcoc.net to download, print and submit a Discrimination Complaint to NCOM, and advises that this issue will be discussed further during the NCOM Region 2 Conference scheduled for November 22-23 at the Biltmore Hotel in Oklahoma City. GITMO FOR BIKIES Bikers going to jail in Queensland will now be sent to a “bikie-only prison” at the ultra-secure Woodford Correctional Centre as part of the Australian government’s push against “bikies”. The biker gang-only facility, which critics have compared with Guantánamo Bay, will form a core part of the Newman Govt’s attempt to drive outlaw bikie gangs from Queensland. Convicted outlaw motorcycle gang members will be kept in their cells for 23 hours a day at the centre, denied access to gym equipment, televisions and be subject to a more stringent regime of drug testing and searches. All calls unrelated to their legal representation will be monitored and their mail opened and censored while visitor contact will be restricted to one hour a week. Bikie members already in Queensland prisons will also be transferred to the new facility, which is aimed at denying them the ability to use prison time to recruit new members and widen their drug distribution networks says government sources. Premier Campbell Newman told The Courier-Mail that the facility will be an integral part of sweeping legislation to be introduced and passed through State Parliament, adding that the new laws will also automatically ban bikies from accessing bail and hand greater investigative powers to the Crime and Misconduct Commission. In addition to mandatory enhanced prison sentences of up to 25 additional years for gang members, the government is also considering tougher penalties for crimes committed in prison, including weapon offenses, assaults and drug use, as well as stiffer penalties for prison staff caught colluding with gang members. Civil libertarians and members of the legal fraternity have condemned the proposed bikie crackdown as unnecessary, ill-conceived and arrogant. Two women friends had gone for a girl’s night out to a quaint Pub in the neighborhood. Both were very faithful and loving wives, however they had gotten over-enthusiastic on the Bacardi Breezers. Incredibly drunk and walking home they needed to pee, so they stopped in the cemetery. One of them had nothing to wipe with so she thought she would take off her panties and use them. Her friend however was wearing a rather expensive pair of panties and did not want to ruin them. She was lucky enough to squat down next to a grave that had a wreath with a ribbon on it, so she proceeded to wipe with the ribbon. After the girls finished their “pee break” they staggered home, laughing all the way. The next day one of the woman’s husband was concerned that his normally sweet and innocent wife was still in bed hung over at noon, so he phoned the other husband and said: “These girl nights have got to stop! I’m starting to suspect the worst. My wife came home with no panties!!’ That’s nothing’ said the other husband, ‘Mine came back with a card stuck to her ass that said..... ‘From all the guys at Fire Station 727. A woman went to the doctor’s office and was seen by one of the new young doctors. After about four minutes in the examination room, she started screaming and ran down the hall. A father walks into a restaurant with his young son. He gives the young boy 3 nickels to play with to keep him occupied. Suddenly, the boy starts choking, going blue in the face. The father realizes the boy has swallowed the nickels and starts slapping him on the back. The boy coughs up 2 of the nickels, but keeps choking. Looking at his son, the father is panicking, shouting for help. A well-dressed, attractive, and serious looking woman in a blue business suit is sitting at the coffee bar reading a newspaper and sipping a cup of coffee. At the sound of the commotion, she looks up, puts her coffee cup down, neatly folds the newspaper and places it on it on the counter, gets up from her seat and makes her way, unhurried, across the restaurant. Reaching the boy, the woman carefully drops his pants; takes hold of the boy’s testicles and starts to squeeze and twist, gently at first and then ever so firmly. After a few seconds the boy convulses violently and coughs up the last nickel, which the woman deftly catches in her free hand. Releasing the boy’s testicles, the woman hands the nickel to the father and walks back to her seat at the coffee bar without saying a word. As soon as he is sure that his son has suffered no ill effects, the father rushes over to the woman and starts thanking her saying, “I’ve never seen anybody do anything like that before, it was fantastic. Are you a doctor? “ “No,” the woman crisply replied, “I’m with the Internal Revenue Service.” The mother-in-law dropped in after shopping to find her son-in-law angry and hurriedly packing his suitcase. “What happened?” she asked anxiously. “What happened? I’ll tell you what happened. I sent an email to my wife --- your daughter --- telling her I was coming home a day early from my fishing trip. I got home ...and guess what I found? Your daughter, in bed with a naked guy! This is unforgiveable, the end of our marriage. I’m done. I’m leaving forever!” “Calm down, calm down!” said his mother-in-law. “There’s something very odd about that. It’s not like her to mess things up like this. There must be a simple explanation. I’ll go speak to her and find out what happened.” A few minutes later, the mother-in-law came back with a big smile and said, “I told you there must be a simple explanation - she didn’t never git your dang e mail is all.
