CALENDAR OF EVENTS LISTINGS Contact: Mechele “Me-Mac” MacDaniel, Events Calendar Administrator for TRM 615-496-1493 or, e-mail them to: events@thunderroadstennessee.com What’s on the site goes in the mag!

We have TWO big holidays this month; St. Patty’s Day and Easter. One primarily for the consumption of adult beverages and the other for kids’ consumption of pink & yellow marshmallow chickadees. In truth, the tradition and history that belong to each of these two very meaningful holidays is something that is worth researching and filling your mind with the knowledge thereof. We here at Thunder Roads have our own holiday to celebrate…. FOURTEEN YEARS of serving the bikers of this beautiful and full of heritage and traditional state; Tennessee, with a Free magazine for its’ loyal readers, that has taken on wings and spread across this great Nation. There are so many “Angels” that look over us daily and help with this magazine monthly. Rebel Ron, writer, Cooper Chilton, Photojournalist, Bob “Bulldog” Ousley who does the Veteran’s page, Pastor Ron who offers insight to our spirituality, Cap’n Capley (sends me lots of good jokes), and the list could go on and on. I just wanted to mention a few that have been with us for many years and are always willing to help us make this mag better. We Thank You all so very much. This magazine has been short of a miracle for us and through my Letters From the Editor, I think you know as much about us as our Family does. But that’s a good thing because in the long run, we are ALL connected and we are proud to have so many brothers and sisters as our BIKER Family. Want to give a BIG shout out to Geneva & Dwayne and the Band. They are celebrating their 10 Year Anniversary and again, we have known them all the way along their path and wish them all the success and recognition they deserve. Y’all Rock It Out!

March 2013

Oh, and you know I’m always sharing good things with y’all that we think you might enjoy too and there’s a show on FX on Tuesday nights at 9pm named “JUSTIFIED”, and it’s all shot around Tennessee and Kentucky and deals primarily with how all the Moonshiners are now into Meth Labs and this one Marshall who grew up amongst them all and the shenanigans that ensue. Damn good show. Y’all don’t drink too much green beer and ration out those chocolate bunnies to the kids and above all, if you don’t go to Church, say a prayer on Easter cause’ God listens to you whether you’re in His house or your own. We love ya’ bikers. toni & brian

Riding with Ray Ray is an avid motorcycle enthusiast who lives & rides in the Smoky mountain area of East TN OK . . . when you see a sign like this, do ya get a shit-eating grin

on your face and start thinking about your bike ? . . . or, when ya see this sign and you’re riding your bike, does that same grin appear as you plant your feet a little firmer & settle in to the bike’s saddle ? . . so, it’s not just me . . In thinking, it was almost exactly 2 years ago when I texted “what’s-her-name” (where I was living at the time) and said I was headed up to the mountains for a few days with my Harley & my camping gear to clear my head. .. dunno . . I hear she’s still really pissed. Oh well, I did finally get my head a little clearer. And, I decided that this (the Smoky Mountains) was where I wanted to settle. For those of you who’ve had the opportunity to ride on some of these beautiful twisty roads and enjoy all the sights, smells & sounds as you and your bike rumble through, it’s easy to agree . . . this area is a biker’s “heaven-onearth”. If you have yet to experience the East TN mountains, load up your bike and ride (or, trailer) it on over. Yes, I know . . . all the winter holidays are still a recent memory from a couple of months ago . . . and, it’s only mid February. Anyway . . . It’s Saturday morning I’m sitting in front of a nice fire, watching the day begin and daydreaming about this year’s “extra” stuff that I’ve been adding to my bike. Ok, it’s just past 9 am and I’m out to the porch for the next cup to again try & convince myself its warm enough for a day’s ride. If I look from March 2013

this angle @ the thermometer, it reads 40 degrees and I just checked the local weather to confirm that sunshine & 55 are predicted. I can’t take it any longer ! With all the rain, sleet & snow, I haven’t burned a tank of fuel since Christmas.

Just a few minutes to wipe he dust off my Road King and she’s rumbling down the road towards Maryville for a quick stop by my local HD dealer (Smoky Mountain HD) for a map I’d seen during a snowy day visit showing several rides in the area. With just a few hours of sunny temps for a ride, I chose a 95 mi/3 hr ride into the Smokys, thru Cades Cove, Gatlinburg & Pigeon Forge and back down a small, really twisty road. A few parts of today’s ride were familiar, so I added a couple more miles to include parts of Hwy 129 (toward Dragon’s Tail) and the Foothills Parkway. On every ride, I am still amazed with both the scenery and the roads which seem like they were constructed with bikers in mind. If you enjoy hopping on the interstate, setting the throttle and relaxing listening to your tunes . . cool, take the interstate over to the Smokys. But, if you’re like the rest of us, Spring is almost here . . . take a few sick days, polish up your ride and come enjoy some of the best motorcycling you can imagine. This year, I added Progressive suspension front & rear, replaced the Metzler on the rear and installed a Power Commander upgrading my ’05 Road King’s fuel mix to match the true duels & stage 1 breather. Today’s ride gave me several opportunities to get that “shit-eating grin” glued in place ! So far, I’m please with all of the above refinements. Please, pass along info on any rides you’d recommend in either my area or yours. And, tell me about upcoming events & what you’re riding, too. Ride safe ! Ray

Bike Riding Tennessee Police Officers By: Rebel Ron Since most of us grew up watching westerns & reading books we all know that officers of the law, no matter what they may have been called, were probably their most effective when they began riding horses. In the beginning of the 20th century our often loved & sometimes hated officers of the law got an upgrade from the four legged critter with the invention of the motorcycle aka “The Iron Horse“! No matter your opinion of police officers they should be respected by all no matter what, as it is they who often stand between civilized society & criminal predators. And the cops often do so making less money than most working people but they have a lot higher risk at their job than most of us. However, that still makes getting a speeding ticket difficult to handle, especially when you are certain you were not speeding, or at least, admitting to it. J

6

Despite the risk to their well being & life, lower pay, disrespect from people who despise them, until they need them, our Tennessee two wheeling officers do a lot of good work too. They are involved in toy runs, military benefits, & more, not to mention combating crime of all sorts. So, without further ado, I want to share with the readers some of the old & unique two wheeling police officer & State trooper’s photos I have in my collection. Our Tennessee officers have ridden everything from Harleys & Indians to various Japanese bikes & even BMWs. I must say that I hate that the Tenn. State Troopers disposed of the Harley riding troopers I recall seeing back in the 1960s with their colorful Harleys & bright yellow uniforms that were called “The Yellow Jackets.” Ride safe two wheeled officers & y’all be careful out there! (And remember this praise the next time y’all pull me over for speeding. OK.)

K.I.S.S. page composed & edited by: Toni McCoy Shearon aka “MaMa Thunder” of Thunder Roads Tennessee

LEPRECHAUN’S SECRET STEW 1 Pkg. of Kielbasa (comes with 2 long pieces per pack, like a left & right that forms a big O) 2 Pkgs. of New Orleans Flavor Sausage Links (these are all in the “sausage section” of your grocery’s Meat Dept. 1 Bag of Very Small Red Potatoes 1 Bag of Petite Carrots; pre-peeled, in veggie dept. 1 Can of Kernel Corn 1 Large Head of Cabbage Salt & Pepper to Taste 2 Boxes or Cans of Chicken Stock - unsalted kind 1 Cups of Water 1 Bottle of Dark Beer (if all you have is light, o.k.) 4 Chicken Bullion Cubes (place in small cup of hot water to dissolve down) 1 Tbls. of pre-minced Garlic (in veggie dept.) 1 Small Palmful of Basil 1 Small Palmful of Parsley

1 Tsp. of Chili Flakes (add more if you prefer spicier) In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add a large pat of margarine to pan, and chop up your Kielbasa into 1/4 inch pieces. Cut up the Louisiana flavored sausages the same way and fry up with Kielbasa. In a separate Stew Pot, add your chicken stock and water and bullion cube mixture on medium-low. You want a slow bubbling boil. Chop up your cabbage into long strips and take the time to peel apart the layers. Once you put the stew pot lid on, the cabbage will wilt down fast. Either cut your baby carrots into halves or leave them whole; your choice. Add garlic and all spices and corn to the broth. Once your sausages are browned good on all sides, add to the broth. cut your red potatoes in half and add to the broth. Put a lid on this and just let it go for apprx. an hour and half. If you do in a Crock Pot then cook on low for as long as it takes for potatoes and carrots to be soft. While it’s cooking; throw in a couple Tbls. of quality margarine or butter; your preference. Don’t forget your chili flakes as you want this spicy, but not hot. There’s a big difference in taste between the two. Serve this up with some really rustic, crusty bread that has been smeared with butter and garlic powder and broiled off in the oven. This is total comfort food and it literally takes like 15 minutes to get it all going and in the stew or crock pot. It’ll have ya’ doing the Irish Jig right in your own kitchen!

8

BEER & BACON MAC N’ CHEESE 1 Box of Large Elbow Macaroni; cooked 5 mins. short or being soft as has to finish cooking in oven. 1 Whole Pkg. of Bacon cooked up; place on rack over sheet pan & cook in oven @ 425 until crispy, dark golden brown. No splatter mess on stove. Easy! 1 Tbls. of Minced Garlic 1/2 Cup of Heavy Whipping Cream 3 Cups of Shredded White Cheddar Cheese 1 Cup of Shredded Parmessan Cheese 1 Lg. Tub of Whipped Philly Cream Cheese 1 Lg. Vidalia Onion; large chop; sauteed golden 1 Tbls. of Spicy Brown Mustard 1 Bottle of Amber or Dark Beer Mix all together (except bacon) in your deep baking dish until well blended. Cook at 400 degrees or until top is golden brown. Remove from oven and put in your crisp bacon, leave plenty to sprinkle over top. Serve this immediately piping hot before bacon can turn limp. This is phenomenal twist on old style. EASTER SUNDAY BANANA’S FOSTER Don’t let the name of this scare you off. Like all of the K.I.S.S. recipes, this is simple & easy. You can do it. 1/2 Stick of Real Butter 1/2 tsp. of Brown Sugar 1/4 Cup of Banana Liqueur (buy a small, travel size at liquor store) 4 Bananas; cut in half lengthwise; then halved 1/4 Cup of Dark Rum 4 Scoops of Premium Vanilla Ice Cream Combine butter, brown sugar & cinnamon in a medium size non-stick skillet. Cook on low until all ingredients are dissolved. Stir in the banana liqueur, then place the bananas in the pan. When the banana sections soten up and begin to brown, carefully add the rum to the middle of the skillet. Cook until rum is hot, then gently tip the pan slightly to ignite the rum. Don’t let this scare you.....this is just the alcohol in the rum burning off. When flame is completely gone, lift the bananas out of pan and place four pieces over 2 scoops of ice cream in shallow bowls. Generously spoon warm sauce over the top of ice cream and serve up nice and hot. This is such an easy dish to make and if you have company over it’s very dramatic when the rum is ignited and everyone goes.....oooooohhhhhhh! Once you do this recipe and see how easy it is, it’ll be one of your favorite show-stoppers. Delicicious too!

NEWS BYTES

NCOM BIKER NEWSBYTES Compiled & Edited by Bill Bish, National Coalition of Motorcyclists (NCOM)

CONGRESS TO CONSIDER BARRING E15 ETHANOL GAS Legislation has been introduced in the U.S. Senate to overturn EPA approval of the sale of E15 gasoline. Calling the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s actions to allow the 15% ethanol blend “irresponsible” and “unfair to consumers,” U.S. Senator Roger Wicker (R-MS) and Sen. David Vitter (R-LA) filed a bill on Valentine’s Day, February 14th that would reverse EPA waivers allowing E15 to be sold to the public for use in most modern cars and light-duty trucks. “Whether you drive a car, truck, boat, or tractor, misfueling with E15 could result in engine failure, increased emissions, and the voiding of warranty coverage,” Vitter said in announcing S. 344. “EPA’s flawed waivers allowing E15 amount to government bureaucrats issuing short-sighted regulations that negatively impact families and businesses across the country,” added Wicker, a member of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee. No motorcycles or ATVs are approved to use E15, and manufacturers warn that its use could damage engines and void warranties. In related news, in an effort to prevent consumers from inadvertently misfueling non-approved vehicles with E15, the EPA has announced a new requirement for gas stations that sell E15 to provide a separate E10/E0 pump. Retailers would be required to have a label on pumps that dispense multiple fuel blends of E15-and-higher that reads: “Passenger Vehicles Only. Use in Other Vehicles, Engines and Equipment May Violate Federal Law,” and to post signs that indicate the location of the dedicated E10-or-lower fuel pump. MIC OPPOSES MINIMUM NOISE LEVELS FOR ELECTRIC MOTORCYCLES The Motorcycle Industry Council announced its opposition to a proposed rule by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that would require electric motorcycles to emit a minimum sound to protect pedestrians. The MIC recently submitted comments opposing NHTSA’s published Notice of Proposed Rulemaking for FMVSS No. 141, Minimum Sound Requirements for Hybrid and Electric Vehicles, which would set minimum sound requirements for hybrid and electric vehicles, including but not limited to, motorcycles. Pursuant to the Pedestrian Safety Enhancement Act in 2010, FMVSS No. 141 is designed to ensure that blind, visually impaired and other pedestrians are able to detect nearby hybrid and electric vehicles in a range of ambient environments. In the MIC’s comments, the motorcycle industry group argued that because of the unique attributes of motorcycles, NHTSA should not need to require a minimum sound for them. The MIC says that motorcycle riders are better able to see and avoid pedestrians because their sight is unobstructed, and motorcyclists are more alert because of their vulnerability. The MIC also stated that electric motorcycles are not quiet, so they shouldn’t need to be subject to minimum sound requirements. The MIC stated further that adding a speaker system to electric motorcycles to emit sounds would be an issue because motorcycles have less space to add such a system, the weight of the system would have a large effect on the motorcycle’s low-speed stability, energy consumption of the speaker system would have a greater impact on a motorcycle’s range and the price of installing the system would be higher than with automobiles. NHTSA is seeking comments on minimum sound requirements through March 15, and details can be found at www.federalregister.gov. 14

ARIZONA BIKERS LOBBY FOR ANTI-PROFILING BILL A hearing room filled with patch-wearing motorcycle club members broke out in cheers on February 6 as an Arizona Senate public safety committee voted to approve a bill requiring police to take training highlighting a ban on profiling of motorcyclists by law enforcement officers. Senator Judy Burges (R-Sun City) sponsored the anti-profiling bill to address complaints from motorcycle club members who say they’re frequently stopped by police for no legitimate reason. The bill would require the Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training Board (known as AzPOST) to include courses emphasizing the prohibition against stopping a biker for riding or wearing club colors, or questioning or searching them based only on those factors. Rick Rodriguez of Glendale, a member of the ALMA Motorcycle Club, said that harassment of patch-wearing bikers by police is rampant. “It’s not illegal to be an Elk, it’s not illegal to be an Eagle, it’s not illegal to be a Shriner, a Knight of Columbus,” he told the Associated Press. “We wear collective marks, we ride motorcycles, that’s what we like to do. I understand the average Joe citizen doesn’t feel our plight. But when they get done with bikers, who are they going to pick on next?” Although the measure passed 4-0, with three Democratic members absent, committee chairman Sen. Chester Crandell cautioned the jubilant crowd that the bill still has a long way to go before it becomes law and needs major changes. TEXAS BIKERS LOBBY FOR CRASH PREVENTION ACT Suits and leather jackets rubbed shoulders in the Capitol’s corridors in Austin, Texas on Monday, January 28, as the two disparate groups share a concern over education funding; while the state’s universities lobbied lawmakers over the General Appropriations bill’s impact on higher education, motorcycle associations are concerned that funds allocated last session to the Texas Department of Public Safety are not being used effectively to support road safety and thereby costing taxpayers. More money is needed for motorcycle training and to educate the public about sharing the road with riders, said Terri Williams, a spokesperson for the Texas Motorcycle Rights Association (TMRA2) and on behalf of the Texas Confederation of Clubs and Independents. Texas’ “Share the Road” campaign isn’t long enough, only lasting the month of May, while states with yearlong programs have fewer accidents, which saves taxpayers money. The motorcycle groups are asking state lawmakers to pass the Motorcycle Crash Prevention Act, a new bill aimed at lowering the number of motorcycle accidents across Texas by providing additional funding to expand Texas’ “Share the Road” program -- a public service campaign intended to make drivers more aware of motorcycles on the road -- and if the proposed bill becomes law, it would also fund more training for riders. OHIO MODIFIES HANDLEBAR HEIGHT LAW Ohio has modified its handlebar height law using language amended into S.B. 114 by John Kasich to change the limit from 15 inches from the lowest point of the saddle to no higher than shoulder height of the operator when seated in the operator’s seat or saddle. The bill also changes the definition of a motorcycle by creating a “cab-enclosed motorcycle” classification for two- or three-wheeled vehicles having an occupant compartment top that is either permanent or removable. The bill was signed into law on December 19, 2012 and changes take effect March 19, 2013. CALIFORNIA OFFICIALS UNVEIL LANE-SHARING RULES About 87% of California motorcycle riders reportedly slide between cars on crowded roadways – while only half of car drivers know it’s legal and 7% admit they’ve tried to block them – which is why the California Highway Patrol is now providing guidance to safely maneuver the white lines. California is the only state in the country where so-called “lane-splitting” or “lane-sharing” isn’t illegal, but state authorities have never, until now,

The new rules, which the CHP posted on their website after consulting with other state agencies and motorcycle-rider groups as part of the California Motorcyclist Safety Program which trains new riders in the state, apply to city streets, highways and freeways across the Golden State. “Basically, what we’re most interested in is the speeds,” said Sgt. Mark Pope, statewide motorcycle safety coordinator for the CHP. “You should lane-split no faster than 10 mph over the speed of traffic around you, and we recommend riders not split at all if the traffic is faster than 30 mph.” CHP officers have always had the legal authority to ticket motorcyclists who were driving dangerously fast, Pope said, but the new rules are designed to provide specifics. The new written guidelines, which carry no legal weight, can be found at http://bit.ly/XxIRJb NEW MOTORCYCLE SALES REV UP Motorcycle sales in the United States revved up in 2012, rising a healthy 2.6% over 2011, according to a report released by the Motorcycle Industry Council. Better yet, the trade group said, retail activity was up in all four motorcycle “segments” -- the first time that has happened since 2002 -- with increases in scooter, dual-purpose, off-road and on-highway motorcycle sales. Scooter sales rose the most, at 7.7%, with dual-purpose motorcycles following closely at 7.4%. Sales of dirt bikes rose 2.1%, while those of on-highway bikes, which make up by far the largest segment in terms of overall numbers, went up the least, at 1.8%. The numbers were in line with expectations, as the MIC reported in December that for the first time since the market softened in 2006 and then crashed in 2008, it anticipated reporting an increase in sales figures. Just over 1.1 million motorcycles were sold in 2006, and fewer than half that many in 2011 with 452,386 total new units sold in the U.S. JAPANESE MOTORCYCLE EXPORTS TO U.S. FLATTEN FOLLOWING DRAMATIC RISE Japanese manufacturers in 2012 exported 166,601 motorcycles to the United States, an increase of 1% compared to 2011, following a dramatic 87% increase in 2011 after the OEMs exported only 88,074 motorcycles to the country in 2010.

These figures come courtesy of the searchable database of the 11/1/11 5:06Japan PM Automobile Manufacturers Association. They pertain to the Big Four: Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki and Yamaha. USED BIKE MARKET EXPERIENCES UPTURN Used motorcycle sales have heated up, sparking optimism at dealerships where trade-ins have become more valuable. As the economy has improved, even if it’s been marginal, more people have decided to go ahead and buy a motorcycle. And if they can’t afford a new bike, it could be a used one. Used motorcycle prices have recovered meaningfully since 2008, rising to a level that supports a healthy demand for new bikes as well, according to a recent survey from Robert W. Baird & Co. Used Harley prices were up 7% from a year ago and remain well above the low points found in the recession, said Baird analyst Craig Kennison who analyzed motorcycle sales data from the National Automobile Dealers Association. “If the demand for used motorcycles picks up, it usually suggests the demand for new bikes will go up as well,” Kennison said. 2013 NCOM CONVENTION IN RENO The 28th annual NCOM Convention will be held Mother’s Day weekend, May 9-12, 2013 at the Silver Legacy Resort-Casino located at 407 N. Virginia St. in Reno, Nevada. “The Promiser not the Promises” When I ask Christians where was Moses taking the Children of Israel to, most of them reply “the Promise Land.” You’ll find in Exodus 5:1 “Let my people go that they may hold a fest unto me in the wilderness.” Egypt was where they were in slavery; it represents sin and the lost world, the land of not enough. The Promise land represents Heaven, the land of more than enough. But the wilderness represents real life and the opportunity to grow in the Lord, the land of just enough. Remember the lyric in the old song’ “Everybody wants to go to Heaven but nobody wants to die?” This is the entire problem with the modern day church, everyone wants the Promise Land and nobody wants to go through the wilderness. Moses wanted the people to meet the God he met at the burning bush, God want to meet the people in the wilderness at Mt. Sinai. Have you ever wondered why it was that the Children of Israel always want to go back to Egypt, go back to slavery while Moses was the grandson of Pharaoh, had everything he could have ever wanted, but he never wanted to go back to Egypt. It was because Moses had a personal encounter with God. If you don’t have a personal encounter with Jesus Christ, that’s why you always go back to your Egypt, your Pharaoh of addictions. If all we do is to focus on “The Promises” of God and not “The Promiser (God)” then we have turned the promises of God into idolatry! We have become too focused on the promises; healing, prosperity, deliverance, joy, and peace that we have neglected “The Promiser!” Yes God does want to impart all these wonderful gifts to us and He has given us clear direction on how to obtain all the promises of God in His Word. But we want to take short cuts to God’s promises but there are no short cuts with God, you must go through the wilderness and you must meet God at your own burning bush (salvation). The 26

promises of God are like “wet with the water” if you’ll first “seek the Kingdom of God, all these things will be added to you.” We are more focused on what God can do for us than who He is. Psalm 103:7 “He (God) made known His ways unto Moses, His acts unto the Children of Israel.” The children of Israel’s relationship with God was based on how He answered their prayers. Moses’ relationship with God was based on a personal knowledge of Him. So which Christian are you, do you know God by “His acts” or do you know God by “His ways?” God called for Moses and Aaron to come to the top of the mountain (Ex.19:24) but only Moses went up! Moses wanted to spend more time with God but Aaron wanted to spend more time with the people. While Moses was with God the people talked Aaron into making a “golden calf ” to worship and Aaron said: Ex.32:4 “These be thy gods which brought thee out of Egypt.” The Egyptians worshiped cows, the Children of Israel were used to that, so Aaron changed “the image of God” to suit what the people were already used to. Many Christians today have acknowledged that Jesus is their Lord, they’ve been baptized, joined the Church, sing in the choir, usher and become deacons in the church. But when you focus more on “The Promises of God” than “The Promiser,” you have turned Jesus into your own “Golden Calf.”

Until next time, keep your face in the wind and your kickstand up. To be found faithful, Pastor Ron

by Bob “Bulldog” Ousley Dear Fellow Veterans and Patriots of Tennessee: Over the past couple of months I have tried to add a little humor to my column but this month is serious. A group of veteran activists who have spent years trying to gain the truth about prisoners of war and those missing in action (POW/MIA) has formed a new organization called Honor-Release-Return, Inc. (HRR). HRR’s mission is to re-energize public interest and gain the truth about U.S. prisoners of war, achieve declassification of all information associated with their service and challenge the U.S. government to negotiate for their return. HRR’s first public awareness event will be a mass rally in Washington, D.C., on April 9, beginning with a wreath-laying at the war memorials, followed by a march to the steps of the U.S. Capitol building, and featuring speeches by some of the nation’s leading POW/MIA activists. They will focus on demanding that the U.S. government formally request and negotiate for the return of all live Americans who are in captivity in foreign countries, and negotiate for information concerning Americans unaccounted for and believed to be held captive in Southeast Asia, Russia, North Korea, Afghanistan and Pakistan. Honor-Release-Return hopes to bring the POW/MIA activist communities together to foster coordinated actions and unify a successful national effort. The Honor Release Return National Board of Directors includes Mary Schantag, founder of P.O.W. Network; Bill Bell, author of “Leave No Man Behind;, Roger Hall, noted POW researcher; Mark Peterson, U. S. Army veteran and United Auto Workers’ Veterans Affairs representative; Jim “Moe” Moyer, Chairman of The Ride Home and Bob “Bulldog” Ousley, Vietnam Veteran and longtime POW Activist.

Details of the April 9 event are still being finalized; for the latest information and to learn more about HRR, please visit their web site at honorreleasereturn.com. Veterans, veteran organizations and those committed to keeping faith with those left behind will be there in number. If you would like some background information on the issue of POW’s left behind in Southeast Asia, I highly recommend an article available on the internet titled; POWs and Politics: How Much does Hanoi Really Know. This paper was presented on 19 April 1996, at the Center for the Study of the Vietnam Conflict Symposium “After the Cold War: Reassessing Vietnam,” at Texas Tech University and was written by noted POW experts Garnett “Bill” Bell and George J. Veith. This important paper assesses the effort to account for the missing and draws conclusions about the overall effort. What has been most lacking in the effort to bring our missing service members home has been massive public support. My personal view is that openness going forward will do much to clear up all the questions about whether there has been a serious effort to account for the missing or not. As long as much of the information associated with those still unaccounted for remains classified it will be difficult to restore trust that everything possible is being or has been done. I hope you will join us in Washington DC for this landmark event. It will take place at the same time as our capitols Cherry Blossom festival. What a fitting image to put the bloom on bringing home the missing in the midst of new blooms on the cherry trees. Keep the faith. Thank a vet for the freedoms we still enjoy and support politicians who will bring back the ones we’ve lost. Fly the flag of the people and be proud you’re an American. Hug the families of those still missing because their quest for closure has not ended. Live the good life and ride for those can’t. Bulldog

Four guys have been going to the same fishing trip for many years. Two days before the group is to leave, Ron’s wife puts her foot down and tells him he isn’t going. Ron’s mates are very upset that he can’t go, but what can they do. Two days later the three get to the camping site to find Ron sitting there with a tent set up, firewood gathered, and dinner cooking on the fire, sitting having a cold beer. “Shucks, Ron, how long you been here, and how did you talk your missus into letting you go?” “Well, I’ve been here since last night. Yesterday evening, I was sitting in my living room chair and my wife came up behind me and put her hands over my eyes and asked, ‘Guess who?” I pulled her hands off, and there she was, wearing a sexy little nightie. She took my hand and pulled me into our bedroom. The room had candles and rose petals all over. Well she’s been reading “50 Shades of Grey”...... On the bed she had handcuffs, and ropes! She told me to tie her up and cuff her to the bed, so I did. And then she said, “Do whatever you want.” So, Here I am. Let’s get them beers on ice and get them hooks baited. ____________________________________________________ The Mexican maid asked for a pay increase. The wife was very upset about this, and decided to talk to her about the raise. She asked: “Now Maria, why do you want a pay increase?” Maria: “Well, Señora, there are tree reasons why I wanna increaze.” “The first is that I iron better than you.” Wife: “Who said you iron better than me?” Maria: “Jor huzban he say so.” Wife: “Oh yeah?” Maria: “The second reason eez that I am a better cook than you.” Wife: “Nonsense, who said you were a better cook than me?” Maria: “Jor hozban did.” Wife, increasingly agitated: “Oh he did, did he?” Maria: “The third reason is that I am better at sex than you in the bed.” Wife, really boiling now and through gritted teeth. Wife: “And did my husband say that as well?” Maria: “No Señora....The gardener did.” Wife: “How much are we talking here, Maria?” ____________________________________________________ WHY? do cats always look at their poop before they cover it up and we do we always look at ours’ before flushing it down the toilet? Odd. 34

A man came home from work one day to find his wife on the front porch with her bags packed. ‘Just where the heck do you think you’re going!’, said the man. ‘I’m going to Las Vegas’, said the wife, ‘I just found out I can get $400 a night for what I give you for free! The man said, ‘Wait a minute!’, and then ran inside the house only to come back a few minutes later with his suitcases in hand. ‘Where the heck are you going?’, said the wife. The man said, ‘I want to see how the hell you’re gonna’ live on $800 a year!’ ____________________________________________________ n case you didn’t already know this little tidbit of factual trivia.... On July 20, 1969, as commander of the Apollo 11 Lunar Module, Neil Armstrong was the first person to set foot on the moon. His first words after stepping on the moon, “That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind,” were televised to Earth and heard by millions. But just before he re-entered the Lander, he made the enigmatic remark - “Good luck, Mr. Gorsky .” Many people at Nasa thought it was a casual remark concerning some rival Soviet Cosmonaut. However, upon checking, there was no Gorsky in either the Russian or American space programs . Over the years, many people questioned Armstrong as to what the - ‘good luck, Mr. Gorsky’ statement meant, but Armstrong always just smiled. On July 5, 1995, in Tampa Bay , Florida , while answering questions following a speech, a reporter brought up the 26-yearold question about Mr. Gorsky to Armstrong. This time he finally responded because Mr. Gorsky had died, So Neil Armstrong felt he could now answer the question. Here is the answer to “who was Mr. Gorsky”: In 1938, when he was a kid in a small mid-western town , he was playing baseball with a friend in the backyard. His friend hit the ball, which landed in his neighbor’s yard by their bedroom window. His neighbors were Mr. and Mrs. Gorsky. As he leaned down to pick up the ball, young Armstrong heard Mrs. Gorsky declaring to Mr. Gorsky, “Sex! You want sex?! You’ll get sex when the kid next door walks on the damn moon!” Amazing......but true.

at Easyrider Nashville Show The Nashville win was People’s choice best of show. The Nashville win qualified the bike for the Columbus Invitational. The Columbus win was for The Modified Stock Touring Class. William Hows (1 of 3 Harley Certified Master Techs) as well as Larry Brace (Harley-Davidson of Cool Springs Parts Manager) for the design and vision. Hooligan Upholstery for the hand tooled seat and AJ’s custom paint for the amazing paint job. Finally a big thanks to Rich’s good friend Paul Yaffe and the guys at Bagger Nation for all they do. We built the bike to ride, not necessarily to win shows….. At Harley-Davidson of Cool Springs, we don’t just do “bolt ons”!!! We have the talent, ability and connections to give you a one off bike of your dreams. The Road King was Raked 9 degrees and outfitted with raked trees as well as a 26” wheel.
