• Located on the color spectrum at a wavelength of about 520 to 470 nanometers, the color green is created from a mixture of yellow and blue. Celadon is a shade of green that is a pale tint of spring green, while chartreuse is a pale apple green. Viridian is a dark blue-green color, whose chemical name is hydrated chromium oxide. The facility belonging to comic action heroes the X-Men is colored viridian. • Beginning in 1903, Crayola offered one green crayon, simply called “green.” Sea green, spring green and olive green were made available in 1949, and in 1958, the company introduced forest green. Ultra-green came along in 1972, and since then, the company’s more creative green names have included electric lime, jungle green, magic mint, asparagus, Caribbean green, fern green, Granny Smith apple, inch worm, mountain meadow and tropical rainforest.

• If a company is guilty of green-washing, they are misleading consumers by proclaiming that they implement positive environmental practices that don’t exist or can’t be substantiated. The company might falsely claim that they use recycled content in their product, or advertise one small truth to distract consumers from a larger falsehood.
• We know the Trifolium repens by another name — the white clover, but more commonly, the shamrock. Taken from the Irish word, seamrog, meaning “little clover,” this white-flowered perennial was regarded by early Celts as a charm against evil spirits. Legend has it that St. Patrick used the little three-leafed plant to illustrate the doctrine of the Holy Trinity — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — to the Irish people, demonstrating how each leaf was separate yet joined together in a single stem. Most Irish brides include shamrocks in their bridal bouquet as well as in the groom’s boutonniere.

The makeup, which took two hours every day to apply, achieved its distinctive color from a dangerous chemical, copper oxide, and actress Margaret Hamilton had to exercise extreme caution when eating meals while wearing it, so as not to ingest any. It became even more dangerous when Hamilton was making her spectacular exit from Munchkinland via an elevator in a trap door on the set. When the burst of real fire came up, her makeup ignited, causing painful burns that required six weeks to heal.

FAMOUS PATRICKS
As a tribute to St. Patrick’s Day, Tidbits looks at several of those whose names are derived from the Latin word meaning “noble one.”
Licensed & Insured
• One of America’s founding fathers, Patrick Henry was a two-time governor of Virginia and a strong advocate of the American Revolution. As the House of Burgesses debated whether to take military action against the advancing British army, Henry made his famous “Give me liberty or give me death” speech in 1775. • The number 33 jersey has been retired by hockey’s Montreal Canadiens and Colorado Avalanche. It belonged to Patrick Roy, who has been voted the greatest goaltender in NHL history by a panel of writers and a fan poll. This Hockey Hall of Famer won two Stanley Cup championships each with the Canadiens and the Avalanche, and is the only player in history to win the Stanley’s MVP award three times. Today, Patrick Roy spends his time managing and coaching the Quebec Ramparts, part of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

OVERCOMING THE ODDS:
MARIO LEMIEUX
immediately began aggressive radiation treatments. After only two months, on the day of his final treatment, he made the trip to Philadelphia to play in the Penguins-Flyers game.
Nicknamed “Super Mario” by teammates and commentators, Mario Lemieux has proven himself to be just that. Struck by serious illness at the height of his career, this super athlete battled for his life and came back stronger than ever.
• Four months later, Lemieux was once again in surgery, this time for a herniated muscle in his back. At the end of the season, he was forced to take a leave of absence to recover from the fatigue of cancer treatments.
• It seems appropriate that lemieux translates “the best” in French. Born in Montreal, Quebec, in 1965, Lemieux is widely considered one of the best hockey players of all time. In his 17 seasons as a forward with the NHL’s Pittsburgh Penguins, he scored 690 goals and had 1,033 assists. That’s quite an accomplishment considering that illness and injuries kept him out of 36 percent of his potential regular season games.
• Lemieux was back in full force for the beginning of the 1995 season, scoring his 500th career goal in October. During the following season came his 600th.
• A different number 33 jersey has been retired by the New York Knicks, belonging to center Patrick Ewing. Ewing lived the first 11 years of his life in Jamaica, where he played cricket and soccer. At Georgetown University, he was one of the first college players to start on the varsity team as a freshman, which contributed to his being voted as the 16th greatest college player of all time by ESPN. The Hall of Famer is also on the list as one of the 50 Greatest Basketball Players of All Time. Ewing has two Olympic gold medals to his credit as a member of the 1984 and 1992 basketball teams. Today, he is the assistant coach for the Orlando Magic. afterward • Although not a familiar name, the Reverend Patrick Bell was famous in his own right. This Church of Scotland minister invented the reaping machine in 1828. Bell collected no financial gain from his invention, because he never obtained a patent, believing it should benefit all mankind. • “Dr. McDreamy,” neurosurgeon Derek Shepherd on television’s “Grey’s Anatomy,” is played by heartthrob Patrick Dempsey. Dempsey entered the entertainment world as a teenager when he studied juggling and actually placed third in the National Jugglers Convention. At one time, he wanted to attend Clown College. The Maine-born star was also a state champion downhill skier who trained for an Olympic team slot. Dempsey was diagnosed as dyslexic at a young age, and although he attended the local high school, he dropped out before graduating. His dyslexia forces him to totally memorize all his scripts. In his spare time, he is a sports car racer and has participated in both the Indianapolis and Daytona Beach races.

• As a fine high school athlete, Patrick Swayze excelled in football, diving, broad-jumping, track and martial arts. Yet he abandoned all of his sports to study ballet and dance professionally with major New York City companies. His first professional gig was as Cinderella’s Prince Charming in Disneyland parades. Swayze’s television debut came on the series “M*A*S*H,” where he played a soldier who had been diagnosed with leukemia. Of course, he’s best known for his role as Johnny Castle in 1987’s “Dirty Dancing,” and as Sam Wheat in 1990’s “Ghost,” roles for which he received Golden Globe nominations. He was People magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive in 1991 and was also chosen as one of their 50 Most Beautiful People in the World. Although he fought valiantly against pancreatic cancer, it claimed his life
in 2009, 21 months after diagnosis.

• The Lemieux f a m i l y basement was the first practice field for young Mario, who, at age 3, started practicing there with his brothers, using wooden kitchen spoons as hockey sticks and bottle caps as pucks. It only made sense for their father to pour a rink on the front lawn shortly
• When Lemieux was drafted by the Penguins in 1984, the team was in deep financial trouble and the relocation rumors were flying. Ten years prior, the team had declared bankruptcy, and by the time of Lemieux’ first season, was drawing less than 7,000 fans per game and seemed unable to fill its arena to even half-capacity. • During his rookie season, Lemieux not only played in the NHL All-Star game, he was named that game’s MVP, the first rookie to achieve this distinction. With his help, Pittsburgh won the Stanley Cup in 1991 and 1992, and Lemieux was the NHL’s MVP three times, and the league’s leading scorer six times. • With the 1990 season came back surgery for a herniated disc and agonizing back pain. But it didn’t keep Lemieux from his first Stanley Cup and earning MVP of the playoffs. In early 1993 came the unbelievable announcement that he had been diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma. He
• Lemieux announced his retirement in 1997 at age 32, his number 66 was retired, and he was immediately inducted into the NHL Hall of Fame without the usual three-year waiting period. In 1998, the Penguins declared bankruptcy, with over $90 million in outstanding debt. Because the team had been in trouble for quite some time, Lemieux had deferred his salary and was owed $30 million. He converted the debt into equity and became the majority owner of the team. In 2000, he returned to the ice, becoming one of three players who were Hall of Fame members while still playing. (The other two were Gordie Howe and Guy Lafleur.) Two years later, Lemieux was a gold medal winner at the 2002 Salt Lake Winter Olympics. • His second and permanent retirement came in 2006, shortly after being diagnosed with atrial fibrillation, a heart condition that produces irregular heartbeats. He remains the Penguins’ principal owner and chairman of the board. He has the distinction of being the only person to ever win the Stanley Cup as both a player and an owner.

Grow Green Indoors; Get Jump on Spring After the long winter months, there’s nothing like seeing and smelling fresh, green plants peeking out from the earth. Create that feeling indoors to get a jump on spring with these easy and gratifying “grow green” sprouting activities. Make it super easy by growing wheat berry or rye grass seed in a clear jar or vase to brighten your home, grow a good luck charm shamrock centerpiece for St. Patrick’s Day on March 17, or grow a spring village in a saucer. For each growing activity, you’ll need wheat berry or rye grass seeds. Wheat berry seeds cost only pennies, and they are readily available in bulk in natural food stores and some supermarkets.
GRASS IN GLASS
Find a simple, clear wide vase or jar. Scoop potting soil into the container to a depth of about 2 inches. Sprinkle the seeds on the soil. Add enough water to moisten both the soil and seeds. Loosely cover with plastic wrap until seeds sprout in 3-4 days, then remove the plastic wrap. Place in a sunny window and watch both the roots and green grass grow each day. Your kids will be totally amazed to see how rapidly the grass reaches to the top of the container. Mist with water
By Hook or by Crook Q: I’d like to put some hooks underneath my kitchen cabinets so I can hang mugs, utensils, etc. The trouble is, as my boyfriend pointed out, the bottoms of the cabinets look like thin particleboard and the hooks mightl pull right out. I don’t have much space. Is there a solution for this? -- Jennifer K., Detroit

A Truly Green Saint Patrick’s Day On Saint Patrick’s Day we all become a little bit Irish, whether it is green beer, cabbage, or placing 4 leaf clovers around the house, we all take pride in the fun and joy of the celebration. This holiday make sure you think green. Please make sure that you follow these rules about living green. • If you imbibe in alcohol make sure you recycle your bottles • If you throw a party, don’t use paper plates or plastic cups. If an item is disposable, it fills up landfills • If you cook your favorite traditional Irish meal, please offer leftovers to friends and coworkers. Not only will they appreciate it, but shared meals is always better than waste • Many traditional Irish dishes require a lot of vegetables. If you don’t already have a garden, perhaps now is the perfect time to start one. A garden offers hours of relaxation and fun, while helping you to remain green. A note on gardening: Even if you live in an apartment, a windowsill herb garden is easy to keep. You can also use a large pot on a patio or a table by a window. Not only will you enjoy the taste of fresh herbs, the fragrance is much better than anything you can buy and spray. For a small garden I recommend parsley, thyme and oregano, they are all easy to grow, take a minimum amount of maintenance, offer great flavor to a lot of recipes and are a great start to any garden.

A: With some cabinets, that is a possibility. In order to place those hooks securely, it’s better to screw them into solid wood rather than particleboard. So, how can you accomplish this? By adding a solid-wood strip. Where you place the strip depends on which side of the cabinet bottom has the best reinforcing material -- namely, the cabinet framework, which is typically solid wood. The strip will need to be secured to the framework rather than simply nailed or glued to the thin particleboard bottom of the cabinet, as there’s a good chance it can’t support the added weight of the strip, either. Measure the distance from one brace to the next, for each under-cabinet section you want to attach hooks to. Select a piece of solid wood that is about 2 inches wide and a half-inch to an inch thick, and have it cut to fit your measurements. If you want to paint or stain the wood to match the cabinet finish, do so before installing. Double-check the fit of each strip; it should fit snugly between each brace. Use a wood rasp or sandpaper to take a little off the ends if the strip doesn’t quite fit. Glue the strip into place and secure by driving a nail diagonally through the strip into the solid wood brace. Finally, go ahead and install the hooks along the center of the wood strip.

GROWIN’ OF THE GREEN FOR ST. PATRICK’S DAY
With scissors, cut a new kitchen sponge into the shape of a shamrock. Soak the sponge in water and set it on a plastic tray or pie tin. Generously sprinkle the sponge with seeds all over the shape. Add water to the pan, loosely cover with plastic wrap until the seeds begin to sprout, and then remove the plastic. Once the seeds begin to grow, place the “shamrock” in a sunny area. Within a few days, the growing seeds will transform a plain sponge into a beautiful giant green “shamrock.” Keep the sponge moist -- a perfect watering activity for young gardeners.
A LIVING MINIATURE VILLAGE IN A SAUCER
Kids can design their own mini village while nature takes care of the plant life. Fill a 10-inch flowerpot drainage saucer with potting soil. Sprinkle the seeds on the soil, lightly spray with water until soil is damp, not soggy. Loosely cover with plastic wrap until seeds sprout. Remove plastic wrap, and place tray near a sunny window. Your children can create a village setting by placing cute objects in the grass: miniature toys, trees made from twigs, tiny flowers from tissue paper, and figures molded from clay. Pathways can be added to the village by clipping the grass however you wish. Add miniature bunnies and wrapped candy eggs as Easter approaches. *** Donna Erickson’s award-winning series “Donna’s Day” is airing on public television nationwide. Q. I am a 36-year-old female with 2 kids. All I want is to lose the extra fat around my waist and my hip/butt area. I go to the gym two times a week and I do my two aerobic classes and one abdominal class but it does not seem to be helping, please help me. A. I am so glad you asked. This is a question I get so many times from women just like you that need to understand what they want to happen with their bodies and the actions they take are not going to help them achieve what they want. However, the ladies keep trudging away at those aerobic classes and abdominal classes hoping they will lose the specific areas on their bodies they want to target. OK, let me handle this so I make myself clear: I want all ladies from here to Mars to listen to what I am about to say; You cannot spot reduce or change one area by doing exercises just for that area, you cannot lose the fat around the stomach by doing only crunches or sit ups and you cannot lose the fat in the butt/hip by doing only exercises for those areas! There. I’ve stated the truth and women around the Universe are now looking like a deer caught in the headlights because that is the look I get whenever I inform women of this physiological fact. When you work a specific area, let’s use the abdominal area for example, you work and work those muscles with hundreds of crunches. But that area is a small muscle group, just one of six major muscle groups in fact. So you have worked your abs hard but the other major muscle groups have done nothing and thus your fat burning mechanism, the metabolism, is just a little higher because you have only worked one small muscle group. You have to work your entire body by engaging the major muscle groups (chest, shoulders, triceps & biceps, back, hamstring, quadriceps) with the same intensity you worked your abdominal muscle group and the fat burning engine now turns on. Now do this on a consistent basis and you will start to see drops in size in the areas you are looking for, but only because of the full bodywork you have done. If you want to get to the specific area start at your head and finish with your toes and then the areas in between will start to respond, work on just those areas and you will be working in vain. Ali Witherspoon will answer your health & fitness questions at Tidbits, He is the founder of the A.L.I. (Attitude Lifestyle Improvement) Bootcamp Program on Hollywood Beach and owner of PerFit, Personal Fitness Center in Hollywood; aliwitherspoon@gmail.com

Hepatitis C Can Lead to Liver Cirrhosis DEAR DR. DONOHUE: When he was 20, my son came down with hepatitis C. He’s never said how he got it, but he was running around with a very wild bunch then. He still has the virus at age 27. Should he be treated? He never was. I wonder what’s in store for him, and if he can marry and have a family. Can he? -- C.S. ANSWER: Worldwide, 175 million people are infected with the hepatitis C virus. In the U.S., 4 million carry it. Between 70 percent and 80 percent of infected people will harbor the virus for life. Of that number, around 20 percent develop liver cirrhosis in 20 years, and a smaller number are stricken with liver cancer. Hepatitis C is the most common reason for a liver transplant.
People catch the virus in a number of ways. Sharing needles to inject drugs is one way. Health-care workers can get it info@myhcgprogram.com from an accidental stick with a needle used on an infected person. The booklet on hepatitis A, B and C explains these common infections in detail. Readers can obtain a copy by writing: Dr. Donohue -- No. 503W, Box 536475, Orlando, FL 328536475. Enclose a check or money order (no cash) for $4.75 U.S./$6 Can. with the recipient’s printed name and address. Please allow four weeks for delivery. *** DEAR DR. DONOHUE: How does someone with AIDS die? How long does one live after being diagnosed with AIDS? Can a person with AIDS cook for his or her family without fear of giving the virus to loved ones? -- D.R. ANSWER: AIDS kills in a number of ways. It so weakens the immune system that an infection brings death. Or the weakened immune system allows the growth of a cancer that proves fatal. AIDS also can interfere with the production of proteins and other body materials needed for life, and the person wastes away. The incredible progress made in the treatment of AIDS allows most infected people to live 30 to 40 years after the diagnosis is made, very close to a normal life span. This is possible in countries where people have ready access to the many AIDS medicines. People with AIDS can cook for their family without any fear of transmitting the virus.

Tom H. of Fairlawn, N.J., wrote to ask, “What is Tom Cruise up to lately? ... Is he making anything but ‘Mission: Impossible’ movies?” Cruise and a partner own United Artists and have been looking for projects. However, it looks as if he will star in the Warner Brothers/New Line film version of the Broadway smash hit “Rock of Ages.” Adam Shankman, who brought “Hairspray” to the screen, will direct and choreograph the film, built around rock hits of the ‘80s by Journey, Joan Jett, Bon Jovi and Pat Benatar. It follows a couple who meet at a Sunset Strip club called Rock of Ages, fall in love and try to stay together while living the rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle. Could Tom’s recent appearance on an awards show as an older/ fictitious character who danced with Jennifer Lopez been an audition for this role? Will we be able to accept him as a rock star, and will he sing well enough to pull it off? We’ll just have to wait and see!

Disbelief at the Blarney Stone There are 11 million people right outside the door, but at the Blarney Stone -- a bar hidden in plain sight in the shadows of Madison Square Garden -- you’d never really know it. It’s a crowded happy hour, commuters mixing with the longtime regulars at the bar before fighting the subway crowds. Some are literally stuck there, unable to get a taxi during the city’s infamous 4 p.m. shift change, and some will tell you they have been stuck there for years. New York is, of course, a town brimming with media -- five major daily newspapers, two 24-hour news radio stations and various local television affiliates - but the news here is delivered by the bartender, who glances at the television behind the bar and makes the announcement. “Knicks got Anthony.” The news is greeted with little emotion. “Oh yeah?” “Yeah. $65 million. Believe ‘dat?” “Yeah.” The Knicks haven’t made the playoffs since 2004, one year after Anthony took the Syracuse Orangemen to the NCAA championship. That would be the last time this state has had a championship team on a basketball court, in fact, but nobody at the Blarney Stone cares. Syracuse might as well be Canada. The Garden hasn’t raised a championship banner since Mark Messier led the Rangers to the Stanley Cup in 1994. The Knicks? Aside from some old-timers at the end of the bar, few remember their early ‘70s NBA championships -some in the bar weren’t even born yet.
Oh, the power of a hit television series. Last year no one had ever heard of Chord Overstreet, who plays Sam Evans on the Fox show “Glee.” The Nashville native is the son of country-music singer-songwriter Paul Overstreet and the brother of Nash Overstreet of the Hot Chelle Rae band. A small role on “iCarly” and in the film “The Hole” (‘09) brought him to “Glee’s” door. For his 22nd birthday, Chord received an offer he couldn’t refuse: a reported $10,000 for a personal appearance at the Las Vegas nightclub Tao in The Venetian Hotel, plus $2,500 in gambling money (they love people seeing celebs gambling at their tables), as well as airline tickets and hotel rooms for his 15 closest friends. Talk about celebrating your birthday Hollywood style! Another birthday present was being signed to star with Ashley Greene and Kellan Lutz in the upcoming film “Warrior,” due out later this year. 20th Century Fox Studios wants to add another notch to the “Alien” franchise. The original, “Alien” (1979), was followed by “Aliens” (‘86), “Alien 3” (‘92), and “Alien Resurrection (‘97). Then came the prequels, “Alien vs. Predator” (‘04), “Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem (‘07) and now there will be “Prometheus,” with Oscar winner Charlize Theron and Michael Fastbinder. Original director Ridley Scott will be back for this one, set to be released in June 2012. I didn’t sleep for weeks after I saw the original “Alien,” but since then we’ve been more scared by aliens invading the U.S. borders than those from outer space!

To be sure, Carmelo Anthony is a star, but the Knicks have had plenty of those over the years. With the exception of Patrick Ewing, few have ever really made good on their promise. There was Bernard King in the ‘80s, and, of course, there was the Stephon Marbury debacle earlier this decade. Like Anthony, who clawed his way out of the Red Hook projects in Brooklyn, Marbury was touted as the local boy who would fulfill his childhood dream on the hardcourts of the Garden. It didn’t take long for “Starbury” to fade. Anthony, who was part of the now infamous Knicks-Nuggets brawl and has been arrested multiple times for marijuana and sobriety offenses, wouldn’t surprise many if he fizzled out, too. But for now, Anthony is on the back page of every newspaper, his arrival heralded at the top of every newscast, and repeated every 22 minutes on the radio. Carnegie Deli has already named a sandwich for him: “Melo,” a monstrosity consisting of bacon, salami, corned beef, pastrami, tomato and Russian dressing between two slices of rye. In fact, the sandwich is met with the same level of excitement as the trade at the Blarney Stone. “$21.95 for a sandwich. Believe ‘dat?” “Yeah.”

The Scam Remains the Same The Better Business Bureau has named the Top 10 scams for the year 2010. Some of the scams are surprising, especially since they’ve been around for so long and people are still falling for them.
• “To whiten piano keys, clean with rubbing alcohol.” — O.E. in Pennsylvania (This is for the white keys only, of course.) • Polish glassware scratches with toothpaste to get them back in shape. • You’ve probably heard that charcoal briquettes are a great way to remove smells from an unused cooler or fridge. I just wanted to mention that you should use the kind that are just plain charcoal, not the kind that contain lighter fluid. They actually make it smell worse, I think. • “Have arthritis in your hands? Make two punctures on opposite sides of a racquetball. Push a pen through and position it to where you can hold the ball while writing. Or better yet, have one of your kids do this for you. I did it for my father, and he loves it. It has improved his writing, and his hand doesn’t get tired so quickly.” — V.J. in Georgia • Mildew can be removed from your bathroom tile using a mix of water, lemon juice and salt in equal parts. Mix up a couple of cups, apply to mildew areas with a rag, then scrub with an old toothbrush. Rinse well. • When drilling holes in drywall or plaster, use this neat trick to catch the dust: Fold the opening flap back on an envelope, and tape the envelope, open, to the wall under where you are going to drill. The dust and pieces will fall right into the open envelope, which can be moved to the next spot and just thrown away when you’re done. Here are a few highlights from the BBB list: Job-hunting scams: What the scammers really want is your Social Security number and personal information such as your bank account number. Debt-relief services: They want your money upfront, leaving you more broke than you already are. Complaints to the BBB are up 30 percent in the last year alone. Work-from-home schemes: If you flip to the back of magazines as far back as the 1970s, you’ll find ads for working at home. Nothing has changed. The scammers still promise to teach you the secrets to finding work you can do at home, or will send you craft kits to put together, and then tell you the work isn’t up to their standards. Identity theft: While you’re not at fault if a company leaves its computers wide open to security breaches, millions of people make the mistake of being sloppy in their own security -- in email, giving information over the phone, opening attached files and not shredding mail with your name on it. Scambusters [www.scambusters.org] has made its annual prediction of which scams will be the Top 10 for 2011. Many are the same as last year ... and the year before: Nigerian scams, economy (work at home, loan modification, foreclosure), identity theft (computer hacking, malicious software, hijacking social media information), skimming (credit-card information at ATMs) and people at the door (collecting for charity, contractors who take advance money but don’t do the work.) The only reason certain scams make the Top 10 lists year after year is that they work. Scammers aren’t going to stay with something that doesn’t net them a lot of money. Be more vigilant and suspicious this year. Scammers are out to relieve you of your dollars any way they can. Dissect emails, be suspicious of downloads, don’t buy anything over the phone unless you initiate the call, beef up your computer security and get help with it if you don’t know how, pick your own charities to donate to, and say no to contractors who come to your door. Q: I would like to know what my all-time favorite actress, the beautiful Jane Seymour, is doing nowadays. -- Leann R., via e-mail A: If you are in the New York area, you can see the beautiful Brit in the flesh on March 26. She will have a booth at Artexpo New York, where she’ll be presenting her “Waves” theme. I spoke with Jane about her artwork, and she is always excited to share her love of art with her fans, especially her new theme, “Waves.” “Life is kind of like a wave,” Seymour said. “You are on this body of water: You are moving forward, you go to school, you study, and you become the kind of person that you are going to be, and then at some point, this body of water has this moment of crescendo. The wave crashes. There are highs and lows in life, a lot like the wave. When it reaches a high, it continues to move. Like in life, moments don’t stay. They’re just part of a big cycle.” Ms. Seymour also can be seen on the big screen in “Love, Wedding, Marriage” with James Brolin, Mandy Moore and Kellan Lutz, as well as on the small screen in “Castle” (at the end of March). Regarding her “Castle” episode, Jane

said: “It was really fun to do. It was just a couple of scenes but really fun -- it’s a fun little character.” *** Q: I absolutely loved Jeremy Irons’ guest-starring appearance on “Law and Order: SVU.” Any chance he’ll return? -- Kylie F., Baton Rouge, La. A: Your wish (and mine) has been granted. Jeremy has been tapped to return to “SVU” as Dr. Cap Jackson, where he’ll help Benson and Stabler with a case. In this case, a piano teacher (played against type by “V”’s Elizabeth Mitchell) is suspected of sexually assaulting and murdering one of her students. The episode is scheduled to air March 30. *** Q: When is “Damages” coming back, and on what station? -- C.H., via e-mail A: “Damages,” which originated on FX, has been picked up for two more seasons by DirecTV to air on the 101 Network (like the beloved “Friday Night Lights”). The legal drama starring Glenn Close, Ted Danson and Rose Byrne is set to return for season four in July 2011. *** Q: “Fame” is one of my favorite shows. Are there any plans for it to be shown again on any of the many networks that now exist? -- Jerry D., Ocean City, Md. A: You’re in luck! Starting March 21, Ovation television (check your local cable/satellite provider for channel number) will be airing a “Fame”-athon, featuring 48 episodes of the landmark dance and music drama. Viewers also can win some cool prizes for watching. Register at www.ovationtv.com/Fame.” Then watch every night for two secret clues from each episode, and enter them on the website. The sweepstakes runs from March 21 to April 1. Write to Cindy at King Features Weekly Service, P.O. Box 536475, Orlando, FL 32853-6475; or e-mail her at letters@cindyelavsky.com.
