1 : 400000 The project takes reclamation as the starting point to rethink the issue of 2047 in Hong Kong that is the 50th year after the handover of Hong Kong to China. It explores Hong Kong’s potential development through reclaiming land. the project conveys the notion of Hong Kong becoming independent from China as a city state. the reclamation proposal is passed and the construction work begins.

Phase 0 2018

the first phase of reclamation would be completed by 2027, the area along the coast between Aberdeen and Ap Lei Chau would be reclaimed. The standardzed courtyard grid system would be imposed on the land.

Phase 1 2027 total area reclaimed = 1.53 km

the second phase of reclamation is expected to be finished by 2047, the reclaimed area expanded along the outermost coast of Ap Lei Chau, thus, it generates a new coastline for South Island. The grid is introduced with variated elements that attempts to break the rigid logic of a conventional grid

Phase 2 2047 total area reclaimed = 3.12 km

electrical appliances

The project explores a brand new prototype of urban space by introducing a series of household activities that relates to the infrastructure of electricity. The household activities are brought out from an internalized condition to the urban condition as a communal centre. It suggests the idea that household activities are blown up from a individual level to a collective level in the urban living room.

02 Discontinuous Continuity

Architectural design 5 UCLA Fall 2017 Tutor - Katy, Barkan BAAS (III)

The project explores the contradiction between the continuity of a spiraling surface and the discontinuity produced by a central core. The project is takes as a starting point a thick and a thin continuous surface and superimposes them to form the spatial framework for the cooking school and the spa; the thick surface defining large spaces and the thin articulating specificities within the larger space. The spatial narrative is then interrupted by the insertion of a thicken party wall that also serves as the circulation core. The alienated party wall is abruptly inserted into the existing framework of surfaces and disrupts both their directionality and continuity producing a hybrid paradigm of continuity/discontinuity .

Architectural design 3 University of Hong Kong Fall 2016 Tutor - Ying, Zhou BAAS (III)

This design studio is based on a specific parameter of design - context. The design embodies the context and response to the site context and condition. The building embodies the gesture of elevation and free up the ground below. It brings a new condition to the site. It becomes a node in the circulation from different district, such as the Jordon, XRL Station and the Kowloon station. Moreover, it also creates a continuous experience as the person enters directly to the waterfront area of the cultural district without any blockage of building.

06 The Pool Market

Architectural design 2 University of Hong Kong Spring 2016 Tutor - Kam, Ku BAAS (II)

The pool market is located under an Apartment House in Bangkok's Chinatown. Most of the dwellers in the Apartment House are retired man and new-immigrants. The market has a nice location because it is convenient for the dwellers to buy food. Unlike, normal wet market, the pool market initiates a diverse flow of people in it with the "pool space introduced.
