the door to
inspiration
is always open
When designing jewellery two sources of inspiration always bring out the best in me. The ďŹ rst is nature, in particular our beautiful coastline - from soaring seabirds to the spray, bubbles and weave of waves. Our latest collection is inspired by ferns. Captivated by their shapes and silhouettes, I let beautiful textures and patterns unfurl onto my sketch pad. My other favourite inspiration is our customers. whether designing a bespoke wedding ring or remodelling an heirloom for a new life, i like to understand the person who will wear it. your lifestyle, much-loved colours, treasured memories - all these things and more inspire me to create unique and meaningful pieces. That’s why i say we make Jewellery for Life. Our customers mean the world to us, so we like to do special things for them. in September, to celebrate the second anniversary of our Southsea boutique, we invited customers in for birthday cake, fizz and an extra special game of pass the parcel. Later that week, we hosted another of our popular gem masterclasses, giving insights into the history, sourcing and cutting of gemstones. in October, we opened our doors at 66 Castle road, Southsea for the Created in Portsmouth trail. Happy customers and curious souls alike popped in to say hello, chat about our design process and enjoy the atmosphere on this street of creatives. They met the newest goldsmith in our growing team and got an insight into their art. we launched our new collection that weekend too, so our visitors were among the first to see what the beauty of ferns has inspired. Of course, you can visit us any time. we would love to explore a beautiful creation for you. we are over the moon to announce the opening of our additional bespoke workshop boutique 87A Marmion road, Southsea at the end of november - come and visit us in time for Christmas! Amy Cooper’s work is inspired by the world under the sea, the world under the microscope and the magic of landscapes at twilight. Her designs address the fragility and transience of life and the natural world, utilising the transformative properties of light with porcelain. She explores a monochromatic spectrum that is created through the use of textures, variation in thickness and diff usion. Amy is intrigued by the endless variations in nature and the idea of an ongoing evolutionary process of adaptation. All the pieces are initially slipcast in porcelain and they are treated in one of two ways: to create the ‘illustrated range’ the pieces are bisque fired before a painstakingly hand-cut paper stencil is applied. After which the piece is sandblasted until the

design stands proud, the stencil is removed before high firing which allows the inherent translucency of the porcelain to create a soft silhouette visually as well as texturally. Alternatively, the pieces are manipulated when soft out of the mould, bumps and dents are coaxed up through the still malleable clay. The piece is then allowed to dry out before being fettled, sponged and bisque (low) fired. After bisque the pieces are wet sanded to create a lovely blemish free surface and either glazed with a crawling glaze that creates a texture like cracked earth or left naked to be diamond polished after a second (high) firing. All work is fired to 1250 °C in an electric kiln.

ways to detox written by laura knoWles
We’re the first generation to be exposed to such a high level of manmade chemicals on a daily basis. Synthetic chemicals are everywhere – in the air we breathe, food, drinking water, carpets, wall-paint, foamfilled furniture and household products. We smoke, drink alcohol, eat junk food, take medicines and cover ourselves in personal care products loaded with chemicals and synthetic additives.
12
How we react to this chemical onslaught is very individual. Some of us are lucky and have good bio-chemistry, strong genes and it doesn’t seem to impact our health at all. Some of us are a little more delicate and suffer with low immune systems, asthma, irritated skin, poor digestion, lethargy and weight gain – all of which can be common symptoms of a toxic overload. And as chemicals increase so do the number of people who are beginning to react to them, even the hardy types are not as resistant as they once were.
The answer is often toxins. weight is not our enemy. Actually it’s our friend, our protector. weight protects the body from toxins by encasing them in a safe layer of fat. The difficulty is when we lose the weight the toxins are released into the system and the body responds in one of two ways – by piling the weight back on to protect itself or the immune system crashes and we suffer with reoccurring colds and illnesses. to stop this cycle we need to lose the weight while gently removing the toxins. The body will then keep the weight off.
Have you ever tried a diet to shift a few pounds only to pile it all back on again? why is this?
Here are ten tried and tested recommendations for detoxing…

Juice
Skincare
enjoy organic homemade juices in the warmer months, gently heat them in the colder months to avoid creating damp in the body. Make sure you overload on the veg and not the fruit. Fruit naturally has fibre in it to balance the sugar. when you remove the pulp, you remove the fibre and up spikes the blood sugar. So go veg crazy and go easy on the fruit.
Cleansing the outside is as important as cleansing the inside. Change your skincare and toiletries to lovely chemical free. we like neals yard because they smell gorgeous and contain no nasties whatsoever. The honey and Orange face scrub is so lovely you can actually eat it!
Caffeine free
Food Firstly cut out the refined and processed food, wheat, alcohol, fizzy drinks, red meat and dairy. instead enjoy organic, seasonal fruit, veggies, wild fish, nuts and seeds for ten days. Go for organic fruits and vegetables that contain more vitamins and trace elements and are free from chemical fertilisers and insecticides.
Water drink lots of fresh filtered water to cleanse the body. Avoid british tap water when you’re cleansing the body. tap water contains a number of different chemicals including chlorine, fluorine, arsenic, radium, aluminium, copper, lead, mercury, cadmium, barium, hormones, nitrates and pesticides.
replace your morning coffee for a herbal tea or a hot water with lemon. if you regularly drink coffee or caffeinated tea you may find cutting it out causes a headache. Th is is a withdraw symptom. Keep drinking filtered water and the headaches will ease.
Body brushing invest in a body brush and start dry skin brushing first thing in the morning.
Detox your home Goodbye Cillit BANG! With all your toxic ingredients. Hello Method or natures Sunshine Concentrate which can be used safely on just about everything in the home.
Detox your emotions negativity breeds toxicity in the body. watch your thought patterns. Are you being kind to yourself? A really nice approach is to talk to yourself like you would a child. Forgive your mistakes, be gentle with yourself.
Herbal cleanse
Breathe
Many detoxes are a bit rough and ready and make you feel rubbish as the liver tries to process the toxins too quickly. Like a big fat hangover but without the night before. it’s much nicer to have a gentle cleanse which is why we recommend the Healthy Starter Pack by natures Sunshine. it’s designed to support all the key elimination systems of the body – Liver, intestines, Digestive, Circulatory and Urinary – so the liver doesn’t go into overdrive and you don’t have that nasty detox feeling for three days. take the Healthy Starter Pack with an Omega to ensure the healthy fats are replacing the nasty ones that are being eliminated by the body. we recommend ten days on, one day off, ten days on again.
Go and sit in nature and just be. As you breathe in picture your belly, your abdomen and your lungs filling with fresh cleansing oxygen and when you exhale release and let go carbon dioxide. Delicious.
What’s the point in all this detoXing?
It’s the secret to feeling lighter, brighter, energetic and having that much loved spring in your step. And it’s as good as Honey and Orange face scrub on toast. If you are interested in detoxing contact The Detox Fairy, Sam Mill at Balanced Wellness www.balancedwellness.co.uk Autumn/Winter 2017/18

great feeling gut A great way to fix your health – is to fix your gut. We spoke to leading Nutritionist at NutriCentre.com, Shona Wilkinson, for her advice on what we can eat to aid digestion. Fermented foods
Bone broth
Mint
Fermented foods such as sauerkraut, pickled vegetables in brine, yoghurt, buttermilk and kefir would be a great start to kick start your digestion, as they help feed the friendly bacteria which reside in our gut helping them to multiply in a healthy environment.
Bone broth is important for healing the gut and aid healthy digestion. The gelatine found in bone broth is a hydrophilic colloid, this means it attracts and holds liquids, including digestive juices, thereby enhancing digestion. Bone broths are also rich in glycine, an amino acid (protein) found in collagen, which is important in maintaining a healthy gut lining.
Mint has been shown to help soothe the abdomen and relax digestive discomfort.
Cinnamon
Healthy fats such as salmon, seafood, nuts, seeds, avocado, coconut and pure olive oil should be included in your diet. Fat molecules are a rich source of energy for the body and help the body to absorb vitamins.
Fibre Fibre rich foods such as avocados, nuts, seeds, broccoli, kale, cabbage, cauliflower, asparagus and green beans may help relieve digestive discomfort and enhance overall digestive health.
Fennel Fennel may help with flatulence and intestinal spasms. 14
written by sarah hugill
Autumn/Winter 2017/18
Cinnamon is a lovely spice to add to your food. Not only does it improve digestion but it also helps to balance blood sugar levels.
Turmeric Turmeric is rich in curcumin which has anti-inflammatory properties and is particularly useful for inflammation in the gut. Turmeric also helps with fat digestion, along with supporting the liver.

healthy eating habits The majority of parents strive to keep their children fit and healthy, but how do you decide when it’s okay to indulge and when to say no? teaching healthy eating habits to children can be difficult, but not impossible if you persist. we’re here with a few handy tricks.
for kids Lead by Example Children learn from what they see and if they see you eating sweets or salty snacks all the time, they’re likely to want the same for themselves. Create a healthy diet for yourself and your children will take notice.
Variety Serving the same three dishes all the time is likely to create a disconnect between your children and healthy eating, and they’re likely to get bored. encourage them to try new foods by making it fun, sing rhymes or create a game.
Special Occasions everyone should be able to enjoy a piece of cake at a birthday party or a few sweets on occasions but don’t go overboard, let your children know that treats are ok, but for not all the time.
Avoid Restaurants Healthy eating when dining out can be difficult and you can’t control the ingredients used.
16
Autumn/Winter 2017/18
Some of the healthiest options, however, include restaurants with local cuisine. For something more exotic, Thai food generally uses fresh meats and vegetables without too many unhealthy additives, like salt.
Healthy Snacks Snacking is sometimes frowned upon but it doesn’t have to be bad, simply ensure the snacks are healthy. Keep small, healthy snacks on hand – these can include nuts, fruit, cheese, fresh juice and vegetables. Always beware of nuts if they’ve not been introduced before as some people can suffer serious allergies and everything, as always, should be given in moderation.
Start Early Get your children onto a healthy eating path by starting as early as possible. whether this means eating healthily when you’re pregnant, buying organic baby food or providing deliciously healthy after-school snacks. Start now!
Trust your children know when they’re hungry and how much they should eat, as long as you’re sure they’re eating for the right reasons and just not out of boredom. trust them to make the right choices and if you follow these steps they’ll begin to learn how to keep a healthy diet for ever.

breast aware
written by fiona stanton
self-exploration
Breast Cancer is a scary thing to think about, but it’s important for us to be aware of the signs and symptoms; with over 55,000 people diagnosed in the UK each year – that’s one person every 10 minutes. This aggressive disease is most common in women, but around 350 men are also diagnosed each year, yes men too. Catching the big C early gives you a better chance of beating it.
18
‘Breast aware’ is simply looking and feeling for anything that is unusual for you. If you do notice something that hasn’t been there before, get it checked out by your GP. Most lumps in the breasts aren’t cancerous and can easily be treated, but it’s always best to be safe. Here’s how to give those love lumps some TLC…
Touch your breasts; Look for changes; can you feel any unusual anything abnormal? texture or shape.
Check anything unusual and speak to your doctor.
Most people choose to lie down and use a flat hand to feel for any unusual lumps. Start from under the armpit across the breast to the cleavage, remembering to check up to the collarbone from the top of your stomach. Use your left hand to check the right breast and your right hand to check your left.
As breast Cancer is such a common condition in the Uk, always see your GP if you are worried about anything you feel or see. breast Cancer can kill, but catching it early can give you a better chance of beating it.
Autumn/Winter 2017/18
Look at your breasts in the mirror with your arms up and then with your arms down – keep an eye out for any puckering, lumps, dimpling or bulging. if your breasts feel sore or swollen (and it’s not hormone related) then it’s worth getting checked out by your GP, pronto!

Carly Paoli has been delighting audiences throughout the world, shared stages with Andrea Bocelli, José Carreras and Elaine Paige, and can count the Pope and Prince Charles amongst her fans. Now the classical singer is coming home to the UK to tour with one of the country’s most successful musical theatre groups, Britain’s Got Talent winners Collabro. We chat with Carly as she continues through her UK tour.
Congratulations on your debut album ‘Singing My Dreams’ which reached number two in the classical album charts. How did you react when you heard the news? it was absolutely unbelievable. everyone says not to expect too much when you’re a new artist, but we had nine weeks at number two in the Official Classical Charts which was amazing. On top of that, David Mellor gave the album a rave review in the Mail on Sunday. As if that wasn’t enough he then made a video which was posted on the Classic FM website which was more than i could have ever imagined. i’ve read some of his other reviews and i’m very proud to have received such lovely words from him as he is such a highly respected critic in the classical world. it’s a huge honour.
You’re Collabro’s special guest for this tourwhat can we expect from the show? Collabro are superb. it’s very exciting as they sing a lot of musical theatre material - the sort of music i have loved since i was a child. The songs on my album are a different sort of music perhaps but i think we share the same belief in the lyrics of a song. to me lyrics are the most important thing. Collabro and i share a lot of the same musical passions which is wonderful. it will be a unique experience singing with four men instead of one tenor which is what i have done in the past.
Do you feel ready for that Carly? i’m always ready.
Is this your first tour in the UK? What are you most looking forward to about life on the road. This is my first Uk tour and the thing i’m looking forward to most is sharing my music with a UK audience. The album means so much to me, particularly as i have some original songs on there. i wrote the lyrics to three of the songs on the album - Memory of You (based on the theme from Legends Of The Fall), Se Tu Fossi theme from Cinema Paradiso (for which i added the english lyrics) and Why - all of which i perform regularly.

“My love for the song grew and the meaning and story behind the music meant more than ever.”
What song from ‘Singing My Dreams’ are you most excited about performing? Memory of You because it’s the first song i tried writing lyrics for. i wrote the lyrics three years ago after the death of my grandmother. it was a difficult time for me and for my whole family. However, her loss gave me a new way to express myself which i found through writing lyrics. i wrote the words on a fl ight home, coming back from Puglia (South of italy) after visiting my italian family. The music for Memory of You is James Horner’s theme for the film Legends Of The Fall. James is my all-time favourite film composer. he worked on Titanic, Avatar, and so many more incredible film scores and i think he was a musical genius who composed fabulous music. Such beautiful soundtracks. The first time i performed Memory of You was for HrH the Prince of wales at windsor Castle. in a horrible coincidence, the very next day James 22

Horner died in a plane crash. we had been robbed of hearing more of his beautiful music and talent. My love for the song grew and the meaning and story behind the music meant more than ever. i became emotionally invested in the song.
We saw a concert on Sky TV earlier this year where you were performing with Andrea Bocelli. How did this come about? he became a friend when we first performed together two years ago at the Ancient roman baths of Caracalla. The concert was put on by UNeSCO at this historic site where the Three tenors - Pavarotti, Domingo and of course Carreras - performed together for the first time. The atmosphere was incredible. Andrea then invited me to perform with him at his Celebrity Fight night in Florence, and then to join him on stage at the O2 Arena on his Uk tour. he is a legend with an incredible voice. He has such a strong instrument and it’s always a joy to sing with Andrea.

You are the ambassador for the luxury women’s watch company Bedat & Co. How did that come about and what are your responsibilities as an ambassador? A few years ago, a representative of the company saw me perform. She explained the unique story behind bedat and how Madam Simone bédat challenged the traditional male dominated watch industry. She designed a luxury brand timepiece that was by a woman and designed for women. because the company celebrates the creativity of women, they started a programme devoted to ‘women of Character’. They felt that i was such a woman and i grabbed the opportunity to become a brand ambassador. i love the style and designs, which to me are very art deco and i feel they are stunning pieces of art which are beautifully crafted. bedat celebrates other women in the arts which reflects Madame Bédat’s philosophy. My first appearance as ambassador was also my debut as an international artist as i performed at David Foster’s Foundation Miracle Gala, in which i shared the stage with Jennifer Hudson and Steven tyler.
After the tour with Collabro where can people see you perform? i have two lovely events coming up. First, i am singing at a Carol Concert in Holy trinity Church in Sloane Square which is being recorded by Classic FM. Then, and i am so excited about this, i am doing my own concert at Cadogan Hall. Th is will take place on the 15th February 2018 and i will be joined by the acclaimed conductor and composer, Steven Mercurio. Th is is an event i am so proud of and one i am looking forward to immensely. The chance to do my own concert with my own music and to share it with a british audience is just the most thrilling thing. it’s also the day after Valentine’s Day so how romantic is that?

Alongside Adele and the Duchess of Cambridge, are you one of the four million adults in the UK suffering from eczema? Constantly have the urge to scratch? Is it while you’re on a beach holiday, or first date when your eczema decides to flare up? You’re not the only one - even celebrities struggle with this skin complaint! Over four million adults in the UK suffer from eczema, so could be facing the same irritating and distressing symptoms associated with this condition.
To help ease the symptoms of eczema, we’ve spoken to our experts for their top skin saviours…
keeping control of
eczema
Advice courtesy of Nutritionists, Cassandra Barns, Shona Wilkinson and Lily Soutter.
24
Keep moisturised
Get good gut health
Eczema causes you to break out in itchy dry scaly patches of redness. Not only can this be painful but it can also make people very insecure in their own skin. Eczema can appear anywhere on the body, but is very likely to appear in creases of the body including the arms and legs. To ease eczema, be sure to regularly use a moisturising cream like What Skin Needs Skin Balm (£13.99, whatskinneeds.co.uk), which is especially good for eczema prone skin, to hydrate any dryness and areas of sensitivity.
We all need healthy bacteria to support gut function, to help break down food, absorb nutrients and eliminate toxins. The skin is closely connected to the gut and supporting gut function can help to reduce breakouts. There are a number of studies linking the use of probiotics to positive outcomes for eczema, acne, rosacea and anti-aging. To support your skin include fermented foods in your diet, such as kefir, sauerkraut, kimchi and miso soup. You can also take a supplement, such as Pro-Ven 25 Billion (Boots, £13.95).

Avoid clingy clothes Unfortunately, eczema has no sympathy for your style, so there are some materials that may upset patches of eczema more than others. This includes clingy fabrics such as lycra or polyester. Try to wear loose cotton fabrics to reduce irritation.
Say no to sugar It’s important to watch out for hidden sugars in our food. Always check the sugar content in sauces, bread, cereals, soups, yoghurts, dressings and most importantly ‘low fat’ foods. Sugar not only contributes to hormonal imbalances, which can lead to spotty and greasy skin but it can also play a role in inflammatory skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis and rosacea.
Make sure you have a cool bedroom Heat can be a huge agitator when bringing on your eczema rashes and this can be a nightmare during long hot nights, where you are more tempted to scratch. To avoid this try refrigerating your pillow and quilt (if you have enough room) to make sure you are sleeping in cool sheets. If you are not lucky enough to have air conditioning, invest in a fan to keep the air circulating.
Avoid perfumed body care You may find that if you suffer from eczema, your skin may be sensitive and easily irritated by fragrances and harsh chemicals used in shower gels, scrubs and soaps. It is best advised to use perfume-free and paraben-free body care products to avoid irritation.
Boost your omega 3 levels Eczema sufferers have a higher need for essential fatty acids. Fish such as wild salmon, sardines, herring and anchovies are all omega-3 rich. But if you’re not a fan of fish, or are concerned you’re not getting enough omega 3 from your diet you could try taking a supplement like Natures Plus Ultra Omega 3/6/9 (£17.75, revital.co.uk).
The flu vaccination is the best way to protect yourself and your family against the flu virus. Vaccinations are carried out by a fully trained pharmacist in a private consultation room at a time that suits you. We are also able to offer a business service to protect your employees from Flu. We can provide the service in the convenience of your workplace for just £10 per employee. Discounts are available depending on employee uptake levels. overcome public speaking anxiety
Are you faced with the prospect of giving a speech in front of an audience? Weddings, corporate pitches, or office presentations. It can be debilitating – cause increased perspiration, forgetfulness and anxiety. An estimated 75 percent of people fall victim, but fear not as Town & City is here with a few simply tips on how to overcome the nerves and provide a pitch perfect performance. Speak from the heart
Know your audience
Show appreciation
to appear professional and confident, ensure you know your subject and the material you’re presenting. Do your homework – read up, research, and rehearse. Having prompt cards or glance notes is a common aid, but you should know what you’re talking about inside out.
in order to relate to your audience you need to know who they are. whether you’re talking to work professionals, potential clients, young people or friends and family, you may wish to adjust your approach.
before getting started remember to offer thanks for your introduction and to the host. be noble, take your time and try to appear calm.
Practice practice practice take time to go over your speech in front of a mirror or in front of friends and family. take note of your expressions and gestures and be aware of any nerves in order to work through them and give a polished presentation. 26
Autumn/Winter 2017/18
Don’t be sorry whatever happens, don’t apologise – not for the weather, for having a cough or for unreliable technology. Avoid highlighting the negative in a situation. take control of your speech and your audience, and plan for any potential unforeseen hiccups.
Direction Public speaking is an art, know where you’re going and avoid pointless fillers or improvising. Set the pace and invite your audience in. The body of your presentation should contain the message concluded with a summary. round everything up with something remarkable – a story or anecdote – this will tie the two ends together. Good luck!

shorter days
While the days may be shorter it only means the evenings are longer - giving you a perfect excuse to do the following: Star Gaze
Catch up on sleep
Dress up warm and drive away from the city lights towards the country. You can either download one of the many apps to tell you the constellations, or just lie back and enjoy the view.
Just as it’s an excuse to hide away, earlier evenings are the perfect reason to hibernate. Take advantage of the few months of the year you can go to bed at 9 o’clock and not feel guilty about it.
Get cosy
30
Enjoy some Warming foods
Bring the duvets down, get the fluffy dressing gowns out, draw the curtains, light the fire and drink some hot chocolate. Use the long evening to get into a film or documentary, instead of just flicking through the channels.
British winter foods are a firm favourite – stews, roasts, casseroles, pies… Try creating a new recipe yourself, or go down the pub and enjoy some of your favourite comfort foods by the fire.
Light a bonfire
Get creative with lighting
Nothing says ‘British Autumn’ like bonfire night. But you don’t have to wait until 5th November to get a few friends around to light a fire in the garden with a few drinks.
Turn off the main light and create some atmosphere with fairy lights, lanterns, candles and even lava lamps, which have made a comeback since the nineties.
Autumn/Winter 2017/18
Go on a Ghost Walk or visit a Haunted House
See a new side to your local area by going on a night time tour. With the UK holding such a colourful history, there’s bound to be one near you. Build a fort with kids
Using covers, sheets and cushions, create a cosy den with the kids. Use the new setting to play some board games or get stuck into story time.
And finally… crisp early mornings
With winter drawing in it may sometimes be wet and miserable but every so often we’re lucky enough to get a crisp fresh morning – so be sure to make the most of it.

cause for
an alternative to pain killers when headache strikes

Advertise with us, call 023 9229 4408
NICE have revealed that ‘common painkillers such as aspirin, paracetamol and triptans could actually be the cause of the headaches’ rather than relieving them. Drugs, including medication, are a toxic substance that need to be eliminated by the liver. A headache is a common symptom of an overworked liver as many are aware after a heavy night out. The headache becomes more severe the more medication is consumed. Painkillers can’t be considered as a cure for headaches. They block the pain receptors from sending vital messages to the brain signaling a problem. Painkillers don’t actually tackle the headache from the source of the problem. Listen to your body to find the cause of symptoms. written by balancedwellness.co.uk
What could be causing headaches? Dehydration Drinking water can sometimes be the best and cheapest medication. A lack of water affects the supply of blood and oxygen to our brains and could be the cause of what is described as a dehydration headache. Try reaching for a glass of water rather than the medicine cabinet.
Stress When we’re stressed the jaw tightens, sleep is disturbed and the hormones, adrenaline and cortisol increase in the body to help us deal with the situation. This puts added pressure on the liver which can cause headaches. Taking time to breathe and relax will often provide short term relief. Dealing with the issues behind the stress will provide longer term solutions.
Caffeine overload Caffeine is a diuretic. It removes water from the body. It’s also a chemical that needs to be dealt with by the liver. Cut back on the coffee and swap to herbal tea that will hydrate the brain.
Magnesium imbalance The body uses magnesium to relax muscles in the body. An imbalance can cause muscles in the jaw, face and head to tighten. This can result in headaches. Try taking a good quality magnesium supplement such as Natures Sunshine Magnesium. A physical technique for headache relief is to rub and press hard on the supraorbital ridge – the eyebrow bones. This will feel particulary tender if you have a headache but can provide quick pain relief without the need for drugs. If you are suffering from regular headaches and migraines and want to discuss an alternative to medication, why not contact www.balancedwellness.co.uk. Always consult your GP if you’re unsure.

The 12-cup ready-Pour™ uses the patented ZeroWater filtration system, which combines five sophisticated technologies that work together to remove virtually all dissolved solids from your water. The result is great-tasting water, straight from the tap, and the only pour-through filter pitcher on the market that’s certified by the NSF to reduce lead. ZeroWater's first layer of filtration, activated carbon and oxidation reduction alloy, removes the chlorine taste you are accustomed to with tap water. The ion exchange stage removes virtually all dissolved solids that may be left over from public water systems or even leached into your water from piping, such as aluminium, lead, zinc, nitrates, and more. Three additional stages are included to remove other impurities and ensure your water receives the appropriate amount of treatment time to deliver a "000" reading on the included laboratory-grade total Dissolved Solids meter.

A modern American Pale Ale with a robust malt profile and full hop hit of tropical fruit and citrus... For release 3.2 we have shaken up the recipe to showcase a different side of US hops while still very much keeping in the realm of a big, bold and hop-forward beer. Wort hopping mellows out and refines the bitterness which allows huge aroma and taste to shine through. Crisp Maris Otter base malt is layered with kiln-roasted sweetness and colour to build the fully-charged hop schedule that follows. 38

Citrus and a hint of pine are paired with big tropical fruit flavours from the fantastic Ekuanot that leads this beer. slim wise we’re often quick to envy our naturally slim friends, yet there’s something to be learned from those who manage to stay slim without dieting. believe it or not it’s simple daily changes, not crash diets or lucky genes that can make all the difference. It’s your world
Turn your nose up
when perusing a restaurant menu do you simply accept what you see, or do you feel free to add a personal touch? There’s nothing wrong with asking your waiter or waitress to accommodate your preferences, whether it be to put dressings on the side, to switch fries for veggies or to leave the bread. That being said, try not to order with the words ‘diet’ or ‘low-carb’ in mind. Order what you feel will satisfy – if you fancy dessert or a cheese board, skip the side of mashed potatoes – not to cut calories but to save room! Little changes like this can make a big difference.
do you ever find yourself eating things you don’t even like? it may look good at first but after that first bite, pause – are you really enjoying it or is it fl avourless and unsatisfying? if the answer is the latter it doesn’t make sense to keep going. by resisting those foods that aren’t enjoyable you can cut out mindless eating and help avoid weight gain.
Clear the plate it’s engrained since childhood to be thankful for what you have and finish everything on your plate, yet is stuffi ng yourself to the brim really helping anyone? in fact this ‘rule’ may be doing more harm than good. it’s better to leave it if you're feeling full and keep the leftovers than to force down food your body doesn’t need. 40

Distraction in our fast-paced world we've become excellent multi-taskers, as you munch away while on the phone or in front of the tV you may not realise how much you’re consuming. when we eat mindfully we eat less, so set a goal to eat at least one meal every day distraction-free and take time to enjoy your food with family or friends. not only will you feel slimmer and more satisfied, sharing meal-times can help build stronger relationships.

On the other hand, it’s still misunderstood by the masses who aren’t convinced by it’s healing effect. Town & City is here to highlight a few of the benefits. Hommmmm…
Stress relief Linked to the stress hormone cortisol, research has shown that meditation can reduce the bodies response to stress hormones, as well as help reduce anxiety. reducing stress can have enormous effects including increased fertility, greater resistance to illness, as well as saving you money in medical costs and creating a more balanced happier lifestyle.
Blood pressure with increased levels of stress, blood pressure is raised. removing or at least reducing stress can aid in the lowering of your blood pressure, keeping the doctor at bay.
Immune system Meditation has been shown to increase activity in areas of the brain that control the immune system, which can significantly boost your body's ability to fight illness. research suggests people who meditate for around eight weeks following the flu jab had higher levels of antibodies fighting the virus compared to people that don't meditate.
Decreases pain Pain can be relieved with meditation and can have an effect on the genetics of our body. People who practice relaxation techniques can increase the number of pain fighting genes and in some cases it's been shown that meditation can provide a greater pain relief effect than morphine. PMS symptoms can be reduced by up to 60 percent.

SAUVIGNON BLANC

Sauvignon Blanc is a great wine to serve especially during spring and summer months. It's light, citrusy and refreshing. Place sharp, smelly cheeses like Asiago, Parmesan and Festina next to your bottle and encourage guests to sip and snack so that the wine brings out the flavour in the cheese and vice versa.
This light and airy fruity blush wine is pink in colour and has a tangy after taste. It pairs beautifully with soft cheeses like Goat Cheese, Blue Cheese, Gouda and Feta, but also firmer, crisp cheese like Asiago. It’s an ideal summer wine and great for those sangria evenings, or afternoons!
merlot
A favourite among many, pinot noir can be a mid to full bodied wine that is bold and filled with black cherry and chocolate notes. Serve Swiss, Gruyere and Feta to enhance the experience.
Merlot is a medium to heavy bodied wine that is filled with rich, plum flavours and most popularly served during the autumn and winter months. Try serving with sharp, tangy cheese like Gorgonzola or a rich Cheddar and buttered crackers to balance the strong flavours in each.
Cheese and wine go together like peas and carrots, however, some varieties go together better than others. Impress your friends with our simple guide to pairing cheeses that best complement the wine you’re serving.
