Table of Contents Summer 2022 DIRECTOR'S MESSAGE There’s no place like Danville! “Then close your eyes and tap your heels together three times. And think to yourself, there’s no place like home.” – Noel Langley, The Wizard of Oz They say home is where the heart is, and I would say that statement rings true for all those who call Danville home. For they know there is no place like Danville. This place truly embodies the small-town atmosphere that provides an outstanding quality of life. As we move into summer and past the restrictions of the last two years, we thought we would reflect a bit on what makes Danville so special. In our own summer tradition, I present to you our staff ’s Top 10 list. This list consists of things that make Danville special. This list is here to encourage you to go outside, play and enjoy Danville…, especially with us.

AQUATICS 2022 Aquatots Parent/Child
Preschool Aquatics Program
Age 6M-3Y | Town Staff
This program consists of two levels and is designed for children ages 3-5. Children registered for Preschool Aquatics must be ready to learn without parent participation. The group lesson format includes eight 25-minute classes which are held Monday-Thursday for two weeks. When necessary, students may be asked to move to an earlier or later class time. The Town of Danville is pleased to offer a water safety dock. Although we emphasize hanging on to the wall, this dock allows children to stand in the pool with a secure railing around them.
Aquatots is a class for adults with children ages 6 months to 3 years that emphasizes water adjustment and enjoyment through fun games and songs led by a swim instructor. The adult participants will learn how to safely handle their infants or toddlers in and around the water as well as lay the foundation for future aquatics skills for their children. No class 7/4. Danville Wave Riders Lifeguard Games is an opportunity for campers who participated in a full session of Wave Riders this summer to compete in a series of games using their newly learned skill set. This is a fun and competitive way of reinforcing all the new skills that were learned. To participate, you must demonstrate swimming skills including front crawl, back crawl, & elementary backstroke for 100 continuous yards, breaststroke for 50 yards, and butterfly for 25 yards, shallow angle dives, and tread water for 30 seconds. There will be a swim test the first day of camp. If a participant cannot pass the swim test, we will have to withdraw the participant from the program to keep all participants and staff safe. Retirement accounts make up a large part of many people's estates; unfortunately, many IRA owners and their advisors are not familiar with the complicated tax laws regarding distributions from these retirement accounts. Why is this? Because retirement accounts are different! IRAs are often referred to as “the Missing Estate Plan” because the rules can be complex, and it is easy to make mistakes, so careful planning is necessary to avoid the Triple Tax syndrome of possibly losing 75% of your IRA value to taxes.
Marie Kondo took the world by storm with her method of "The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up." But what does it mean to be a minimalist? How can we live simpler lives? Attend this session to learn about general minimalist principles and consider living well with less.

The program and facility fees cover a large portion of the actual costs, though Town of Danville residents also partially support the classes, events and facilities through their property tax assessments. Because of this, those program participants and individuals reserving Town facilities who live outside of Danville pay an additional non-resident charge. If you have any questions about this information, call 314-3400. Special Notice to Alamo Residents living in the Alamo County Service Area R-7A: all R-7A residents are eligible to register for Town-sponsored programs scheduled at Hap Magee Ranch Park during the resident registration period.
