Falmouth & Penryn Lions

Over the last year we at Falmouth & Penryn Lions have raised a considerable amount of money for local Cornish charity’s and groups. Cheques totaling £4000 was handed out at our annual handover held in the first week of July to various local groups. We raised over £1550 for CLIC SARGENT by holding a charity golf day at Falmouth golf club. We were able to give cheques for £500 each to Precious Lives and Cornwall Hospice care by organizing an Easter egg raffle at various local public houses and have also sent two local needy families on a caravan holiday.

We do all this by holding events such as a bookstall at Mylor fair day, the lion raffle on Prince of Wales pier, Falmouth tide race and various other activities. As the club members absorb all our administration costs all monies that we raise go to charity.

Not only do we raise money we also carry out numerous public services in Falmouth and surrounding areas including diabetes awareness at the Royal Cornwall show. We act as marshals at Falmouth Carnival, the moonlight walk, 10k run and the race for life to name just a few. All this is carried out by willing helpers who enjoy giving up there spare time to help others. We desperately need more members to help us continue these services. Can you help? If you would like more information please come and meet us at the Boslowick Inn Falmouth at 8pm on the 1st Monday of each month which is a formal meeting or ring 01326 319714 for more details and location of our social meeting which is held on the 3rd Monday of the month at a different venue each time.

Anti-ageing, sun damage, dryness or uneven skin tone? Environ 3 area Vitamin Facial SAVE £15! ONLY £45 Environ Advanced Vitamin Facial SAVE £20! ONLY £70 The unique formulations are a powerful anti-ageing tool and effectively address photo-damage, problem skin, pigmentation and dryness.

OFFERS ENDS 31ST August! BOOK ON 01326 389322 or book online at www.watersideskincare.co.uk

Environ HydraBoost The new treatment to quench parched skin The average adult human body is more than 50 per cent water and it’s a vital component for keeping skin looking smooth and plump. The perfect antidote to dry, lacklustre skin, the HydraBoost Treatment from Environ is an intensive facial which deeply hydrates while plumping and firming the skin. The treatment features the application of hyaluronic acid, which holds 1000 times its own weight in water. This helps to reduce fine lines caused by dehydration and increases the plumpness of the lower levels of the skin, resulting in a moisturised, glowing complexion. Natural hyaluronic acid levels, and the ability to hold on to water in our cells, decline as we age, so boosting levels topically helps restore normality. This month only £55 (normally £75.00) Environ’s Active Vitamin Treatment is the ultimate treatment for restoring and maintaining healthy, firm, youthful looking skin. Using only the freshest and most active forms of vitamin A, C, lactic acid and colostrum, this treatment results in the greatest penetration of active molecules through the skin to stimulate collagen production, hydrate, reduce pigmentation and scarring and normalise skin cells. This month only £45.00 for 3 area Vitamin Facial (normally £60) or £70.00 for the Advanced Vitamin Facial (normally £90) The Environ Ionzyme machine applies a combination of electrical pulses and special sound waves to increase the penetration of vital skin vitamins A, C, E and beta-carotene. Our climate depletes these vitamins in our skins and is the major cause of premature aging and poor skin condition. A deliciously cool, hydrating alginate masque is then applied with electrodes attached, which deliver a pulsed current to further increase penetration of the serums and maximise the moisturising effect. Environs’s incredible Ionzyme machine delivers a 4400 times better penetration of product to the skin and is equivalent to 70 facial massages and it’s available here on your doorstep at Waterside Skincare. Offers available in August with Beth and Antoinette. Call Waterside Skincare to book 01326 389322

Meet Kerry Darlington at Driftwood Gallery, Falmouth This August Driftwood Gallery in Falmouth welcomes award winning artist Kerry Darlington for an exclusive personal appearance. This rare chance to meet Kerry will take place on Saturday 31 st August between 1pm and 3 pm and is a fantastic opportunity for collectors to view her latest works. ANY PORT IN A STORM A great saying, but what If your boat developed a noisy engine fault and you had a choice between a port that could do a temporary fix, one that gave you free ear plugs so that you just couldn't hear it and one that could get to the root of the problem and repair it? Or your car... a roadside repair may let you limp home. Just may be you could turn the radio up and ignore the rattle but after that you would probably get it checked out by an expert mechanic. Wouldn't you!? Yet strangely enough although our own bodies have to last us a lifetime we often treat them with less kindness and care than our cars or boats. What about diet? How many of us are putting diesel in a petrol engine and wondering why we have Indigestion, IBS or feel tired all the time. When it comes to joint pain or stress many people choose the earplug option taking painkillers, anti inflammatories and even steroid injections many of which have some really risky side effects ranging from indigestion to tissue damage and worse. We simply explain away our bodily engine noise and just keep on driving. That’s exactly the same as not putting oil in your engine, ignoring your oil warning light and wondering why you suddenly find yourself at sea in a storm without a means of propulsion. The problem with many medicines is that they aren't remedies. They simply hide the symptoms so that we can carry on doing even more damage to our engine without noticing. Sooner or later the problem resurfaces but by this time it may need a much more serious repair, perhaps even a replacement part. So whether you are a couch potato or athlete next time you are going out for a run in that most precious of engines your body. PLEASE THINK! Have I spent too long without exercising or having my joints and muscles serviced? Am I using the right fuel for my body? Have I just painted over the rust without treating it? And is that pain killer I'm taking really the best thing for me? EAR PLUGS anyone? Falmouth Harbour Chiropractor www.harbourchiropractor.co.uk

WALK CORNWALL 2 Twenty years ago, this year, one thousand men made their way to Cornwall with the express purpose of visiting towns and villages speaking about their faith in God as they went. It was an exciting time for everyone and made an immense impact upon the County but most specifically upon the churches. Many stories are still told of people who became believers in Christ; some even heard the call to become preachers and teachers of the faith themselves. Towards the end of Walk, one of the leaders of the mission, Revd Daniel Cozens remembered sensing that one day they would be back. Well, this year the Walkers are back, from 21st -29th September many of the Walkers will be in Falmouth and Penryn and will be easily recognised by the colourful shirts that they will wear with a logo which reads 'how beautiful are the feet of him brings good news'. Look out for them and ask them what they are about; but particularly watch out for the many events planned for that week. In Budock, alone, we are having: A Men’s breakfast; A Ladies pampering night; A ramble to Maenporth; Breakfast on the beach at Swanpool and two special feast nights. All of these will be opportunities to meet to talk or ask questions that that you may have about what it means to be a follower of Christ. Next month there will be a full program highlighted in TR11 - keep your diaries free...

“I just want to say a huge thank you for your great work at TR11. Waterside skincare has had a great response to the advertising that we have put into your fabulous magazine so far. TR11 is always informative and a great read too. If any other business owner is in any doubt as to why they should try out TR11 for local advertising then all I can say is don’t worry! We have found that readers appear to keep the magazines for some time and will time and again refer back to adverts and editorial that we have put in the magazine some months previously. We have definitely seen a great ROI and have never not recuperated the small advertising cost that this trendy well put together magazine offers. I can’t recommend it more highly.” Debbie Gallagher. Owner Waterside Skincare.
