Get set, GO! Pirate Fun Run to set the pace for ZestiFAL! The ZestiFAL Pirate Fun Run, in aid of Cornwall Hospice Care and the RNLI has been announced as the big headline event to kick off ZestiFAL 2015. And in what will be a first, the two charities will be working together to deliver the event for the festival. The mass participation fun run will take place from The Moor in Falmouth at 1pm on Saturday 25th July, the opening day of the nine day ZestiFAL. The route for the run will follow the same one and three mile courses as the ever popular Falmouth Santa Fun Run, with online registration now open via www.piratefunrun.co.uk or 01726 66868. Entry is £5 for children and £10 for adults and will include a free pirate costume, with monies raised being split equally between the two charities. Funded and organised by the Falmouth BID, ZestiFAL is set to transform Falmouth into a hub of energetic and engaging activity for nine days from the 25 th July to the 2nd August. ZestiFAL will showcase a whole range of different activities inviting the public to have a go. This is an opportunity for Falmouth and Cornwall residents as well as visitors, of all ages and abilities, to try something new such as Pilates, Zumba, scuba, triathlon, climbing, cricket, hockey, martial arts, paddleboarding or skateboarding. The town’s open spaces from The Moor and Events Square, to Kimberley Park and Gyllyngvase Beach, will be transformed so as to provide wonderful venues for all the fun. Activities will pop up within ‘zones’ around town so there will be Studio and Active Zones on The Moor, a Team Sports Zone on Events Square, a Family Zone for Kimberley Park and a Beach Zone at Gyllyngvase Beach. Look out for daily activities for the children, taster sessions for adults and jaw-dropping demonstrations. Richard Wilcox, Falmouth BID manager said: “I’m delighted to work alongside Cornwall Hospice Care and the RNLI to celebrate the start of ZestiFAL with such an energetic and inclusive event as the Pirate Fun Run. The run will add colour and laughter to Falmouth’s streets and very much set the tone for the rest of the week. ZestiFAL is all about encouraging people to try out new activities so make sure you book your place and help raise money for two great causes at the same time!” Rose Beattie, Fundraising Manager for Cornwall Hospice Care commented: “We are really excited to be working alongside the RNLI to organise the Zestifal Charity Pirate Fun Run, and are looking forward to kicking off this exciting new festival with a sea of pirates taking to the streets, getting active while raising money for our causes.” Dave Nicoll, Area Manager for the RNLI added: “The RNLI is proud to be one of the nominated charities for ZestiFAL and to be working in conjunction with Cornwall Hospice Care to bring this exciting new nautically themed event to Falmouth. Both of our charities carry out amazing work in Cornwall and we hope as many people as possible will sign up for the Pirate Fun Run to help raise money to support this work” ZestiFAL runs from Sat 25 July until Sunday 2 August.

Blooming Great Tea Party 2015 The Truro Marie Curie Fundraising Group
Host a Blooming Great Tea Party between 20-29 June 2015 The Truro Marie Curie fundraising group is urging local residents to get together with family and friends and organise a Blooming Great Tea Party between 20-‐29 June, or at a time convenient to them, to raise funds for Marie Curie, the charity which provides care and support to people living with a terminal illness. Funds raised from Blooming Great Tea Parties will help Marie Curie Nurses care for more people living with a terminal illness in their own homes in Cornwall. Group Chairman, Merrill Burrows, said: “Holding your own Blooming Great Tea Party is really easy to do. Whether you hold it at home, at work or somewhere locally it’s a fun way to get together with friends and support your local Marie Curie Nurses and people living with a terminal illness.” Last year across the UK the Blooming Great Tea Party for Marie Curie raised £667,000, which pays for 33,350 hours of vital nursing care. For more information and to sign up for a free fundraising pack to host your own Blooming Great Tea Party, visit www.mariecurie.org.uk/teatime or call 0845 052 4184.

Free antivirus or
Paid for antivirus? Hello, we’re back! This month we’re focusing on Antivirus. Our recommendation is to always pay for antivirus, because like anything, you really do get what you pay for. However, we understand that not everyone wants to pay for it. So we thought for the June edition of our TR11 editorial, why not focus on free antivirus vs. paid for antivirus.
Firstly, let’s take a look at ESET NOD32 Antivirus.
With a quick install process and no system restart required, ESET is certainly convenient. When scanning your computer, you’ll barely notice that it’s running other than a quick pop-up box notifying you that it’s started. When it’s not scanning you’ll see small popup boxes telling you it’s updated to the latest signature update(s), but if you don’t like this it can be turned off! At only £29.99 per year or £62.99 for 3 years upfront, it’s not got a hefty price tag. For that price you get included: • Antivirus Protection • Anti-phishing Protection • Social Media Scanner • Device Control
• Antispyware Protection • Gamer Mode • Exploit Blocker • Advanced Memory Scanner
ESET Smart Security includes extra features; these are • Parental Control • Antispam
• Anti-Theft • Personal Firewall
ESET NOD32 Antivirus is available in-store from Techsouthwest.
Next, an example of free anti-virus, Avast. Avast’s free antivirus promises: • Intelligent antivirus & anti-malware • Browser Cleanup
• Home Network Security
Our final comments are how to avoid infecting your computer... • Don’t open emails or attachments if you don’t recognise the sender. • Install either free or paid for antivirus. • Scan your computer regularly. • Your bank will not ask you to confirm any account details via email.
• Avoid clicking on internet adverts. • Keep your computer up-to-date. • Avoid malicious websites, particularly those containing adult content.
Please bear in mind that most free anti-virus software providers also offer a paid version that will give you all of the features that you need to be safe online.
Keep an eye out in the July edition of TR11 for our next update!

Girlguiding Profile
By Julia Conway Christine Bunnett, the District Commissioner for the Falmouth area spoke to TR11 magazine: “There are 11 guiding units within Falmouth. We have a varied programme which is all girl led. They decide what they want to do.”
What do girls in guiding do? Falmouth Rainbows and Brownies visit the Fire Station
Rainbows have fun Rainbows are girls aged 5 to 7 and follow a programme called the Rainbow Jigsaw, through which they can take part in lots of different activities with girls their own age. Falmouth has two Rainbows units, both meet on Mondays, one from 4-‐5pm and the other from 6-‐7pm.
Brownies do cool stuff Brownies are girls aged 7 to 10 who become a member of a Six and follow a programme called the Brownie Adventure. Brownies opens up a world of exciting challenges and the opportunity to try new things and to make brilliant friends. Falmouth has two Brownie units, two meet on Mondays and two meet on Tuesdays.
Why do you still wear a uniform? We feel as an organisation that it is important to have a uniform to develop team spirit and a sense of identity. With around half a million members, we have girls from very different social and economic backgrounds – having a standardised range of clothing helps girls relate to one another without embarrassment.
How is Girlguiding funded? Our volunteers give their time completely freely. We are a charity which is funded through membership subscriptions, and other supporters – for example, generous individuals and legacies from supporters – as well as through gifts from trusts, foundations and partners. We are always interested in talking to people or organisations who would be interested in supporting our work financially. Please contact the Fundraising and Marketing Team at supporters@girlguiding.org.uk for more information on ways to ensure guiding is the place that girls and young women choose to be for the next 100 years.
What is Girlguiding’s policy on accepting girls with disabilities? We are an open and inclusive organisation and our programmes are specifically designed to be flexible enough for girls and women of almost any level of ability to participate. Many of our girls with disabilities say that guiding is one of the few places where they are accepted as ‘normal’.
Falmouth Brownies trip to the Police Station
Guides make things happen Guides are girls aged 10 to 14 who are given the chance to explore their individual skills and abilities and try out new challenges as part of a team. Girls can get involved in anything from adventure sports to performing arts, travel and taking part in community action projects. There are currently four Guide units in Falmouth; they also meet on Mondays and Tuesdays. However a NEW LEADER is Falmouth Senior needed for one of the Monday groups from Section on camp September or the group will have to close.
The Senior Section explore more The Senior Section offers young women aged 14 to 26 the opportunity to develop their skills and abilities through a flexible and inspiring programme which offers a huge variety of challenges, activities and opportunities for personal development. This group meet fortnightly on a Tuesday.
24
Why is guiding just for girls? Our young members have told us that it’s important for them to have their own space where friends can explore the issues they care about and have the confidence to enjoy new experiences and learn vital skills.
Please mention TR11 when contacting our advertisers
The Falmouth guiding units offer a wide variety of fun, age-‐appropriate activities. If the weather is fine they might go geocaching or for a nature walk or visit a local park or have a barbeque and play games on the beach. Indoor activities include arts and crafts, cooking, playing games and science experiments. Guiding units also get the opportunity to go on camps. This may be a weekend away under canvas such as the Condorro camp near Truro where the girls can try out kayaking. Others are longer; a week away at a PGL camp offers plenty of adventure including biking, orienteering, abseiling, zorbing and zip-‐wiring. There are also day trips out to local places of interest such as a recent trip to Port Eliot. Girlguiding in Falmouth is only made possible with the help of voluntary leaders, assistants, administrators and the members themselves. More girls and women are needed to keep these groups active. If guiding sounds like something you would enjoy doing, please get in touch to arrange a free taster session. We would love to hear from you. Please mention TR11 when contacting our advertisers

Honey is a lovely 7 year old German Shepherd Cross resident here at Dogs Trust Rehoming Centre Ilfracombe. Honey is a very sweet and affectionate girl who loves lots of fuss and attention. She spends most of her time with our Training and Behaviour Advisor, and enjoys going out on short walks as she has sore hips. Honey will be on our Shared Adoptions scheme which means that Dogs Trust will help towards the cost of treating her hips. Honey is a happy girl who would like a home where her owners will have lots of time to spend with her. She could live with teenagers and would like to be the only dog in the home, although she is quite happy to socialise with other dogs when she is out. She does struggle to get up and down stairs, bless her, so a flat garden to potter around in would be ideal. Honey will make a very loyal and loving companion. If you think you can give Honey, the loving, forever home she deserves, then please give our Canine Carers a call at our Ilfracombe Rehoming Centre on 01271 812709, we are open every day between 12noon and 4pm except Wednesday when we are open from 4.30pm until 7.30pm. Dogs Trust Rehoming Centre Hazeldene, West Down, Ilfracombe North Devon, EX34 8NU
Minty is a 4 year old girl looking for her forever home. She loves having her head scratched but due to some trauma to her back when she was a kitten she sometimes doesn't like having her back stroked. This doesn't effect her in anyway though, she still runs and jumps around like any other cat.
Minty needs a special home with an understanding cat lover and no young children or dogs as she can be a little nervous at first. Minty does love older children so an older family would suit her but really she just needs someone to understand her. Are you able to give her a loving home and show her kindness and patience to help build her confidence? If you think you can give Minty a loving home please contact us on 03453 712 729 or catsfalmouthhelston@live.com

7:30pm – 9:30pm Speaker: Roger Makin Roger is a vicar from Sheffield who speaks passionately about our Lord. Come and hear Roger talk in this informal way of expressing the Christian faith. Everybody is welcome without exception. The Filling station is for all faiths and none. We meet in an informal, comfortable, café-‐style form of worship. You will receive a warm welcome as well as a hot coffee (or tea) and muffin. If you find this life hectic or lonely, if you are searching for spiritual fulfilment, peace of mind or just contentment you will be gladly received and accepted. To get to the Penmorvah, if you don’t have sat-‐nav, just follow the red ‘droplet’ (logo above). They will appear on the day we meet, on the Bickland Water Road and in Budock. If you require transport to the hotel, it can be arranged, just phone 01326 378065 we’ll sort it out. Why not bring a friend, or two, a neighbour or even a relative to this evening, it’s all free.
