w Increase your OWN natural collagen by 99.5% Our special combination of gentle skin peels and laser rejuvenation treatments will soon have your skin looking and feeling more youthful, radiant and glowing with fine lines and wrinkles plumped out Treatments commence with four Environ skin peels (one a week); this revolutionary approach to peeling achieves incredible results without damaging the skin. Low strength lactic acid is used to reduce the skin’s pH and trigger the release of growth factors, which helps create tighter, smoother skin. It destroys bacteria, boosts hydration and removes the build-up of dead skin cells, helping to decongest the surface and smooth its texture. The Cool Peel is ideal for clients with lines and wrinkles, uneven texture or problem skin, sun damage and rosacea. The peels are gentle and non-invasive with no pain or down time. Not only will you get a brighter, smoother and more radiant skin from the peels, our brilliant Laser will rebuild lost collagen levels and re-plump the skin from the inside out and repairs without damaging. The Regenlite pulsed dye Laser (also known as ‘Nlite’) stimulates the production of your own natural collagen.

There’s never been a better time to have these treatments. YOU can SAVE a HUGE £780!! Offer Ends 5pm 31st October BOOK TODAY ON 01326 389322 and quote 'TR11 ANTI AGEING MEDLEY' Free consultations available 4

As we grow older the levels of collagen reduce, resulting in the appearance of lines and wrinkles. Clinical trials have shown an increase in your OWN natural type III collagen by up to 99.5% after just ONE REGENLITE TREATMENT! This increases to 198% after just TWO treatments resulting in an average 55% reduction in wrinkle depth over a course of 3-5 treatments carried out once a fortnight.

TRi11s and TReats With local Chiropractor Helyn Morris McTimoney Chiropractic is A Family Affair

So many of you seem surprised when I mention that I treat many children too that I think its worth explaining that there's really no such thing as growing pains. Well what better place to start as children head off to school for the new term. Many habits begin in childhood and you will have noticed how often growing toddlers trip and fall. Children run and play sport, play musical instruments and nowadays there is the added dimension of texting neck, which is plaguing many young people causing headaches, neck pain and more. Older children carry heavy bags to school, often on one shoulder and may spend hours in front of a computer doing homework causing back and neck tension -‐ not to mention gamers wrist! All this at a time when their bones and muscles aren't fully developed and may be permanently changed by poor posture and injury leading to chronic back pain and neck pain in adult life. Perhaps your child is in pain already or maybe just storing up problems for the future. A skeleton in the cupboard so to speak! Maybe you can remember feeling discomfort or headaches as a child or maybe the back neck or leg pain you are suffering from now had it origins in those always sunny childhood days! So it's really worth taking a hard look at your children and grandchildren with a McTimoney chiropractors eye view. Is one hip or shoulder higher than the other? Does their head tilt to one side when they are standing straight? Perhaps they already look round-‐shouldered? Maybe their walk is a little different; one foot rolling or turning in for example. Become a posture detective by observing. What position do they sit in to do homework and watch television? Walk behind them and watch how they walk. Perhaps one hip is higher than the other or there is a slight twist to one side as they walk. You could make it fun and raise their awareness of posture by getting them to check you out too or bring them with you when you have your own treatment so they know its gentle and safe. Younger children love watching me treat Mum or Dad and can't wait to jump on my couch or pretend to be a McTimoney chiropractor. Sometimes I have whole families in one day. It's great to see miniature versions of the parents backs. That's heredity for you! ...But I also like to think that the child I am treating may not develop the same problems as Mum or Dad because they discovered chiropractic when young. I was 25 when I discovered McTimoney chiropractic. It was such a huge relief as my neck had been incredibly painful since age 13 and nothing else had helped. I really wish my parents had known about it when I was a child and not believed in growing pains!

www.thenoahprojectnewquay.org.uk The Noah Project is a one stop shop designed to run alongside the foodbank / women’s refuge and was inspired by a local mums struggle to feed herself and her two children. Having gone without food herself for days, and with literally nothing left in the cupboards, she arrived at the foodbank malnourished and distressed where she was given tea, toast, and a listening ear whilst her food parcel was put together. I was at the foodbank that day and listened to her story. It was to be the first of many and so The Noah Project was created. We provide food parcels, fresh fruit and vegetables, clothes and toys as well as providing emotional and practical support for families who find themselves in crisis and provide a complete package of support for 28 days designed to help the families address and overcome their issues, with access to follow on support for a further 3 months. (Including 1 st Birthday parties! – See photos) To remove the stigma of receiving "handouts" all of the clothes, toys etc. are borrowed from our library and the items can be returned and exchanged as many times as necessary until the families situation is back on a more even keel. Keeping regular contact this way also enables us to keep a discreet eye on the families welfare and make sure that all is well.

“Denise and her project have helped me out so much over the past month. Before I met Denise I was struggling to make ends meet and provide what was needed for my 8 month old little girl. I have been very much isolated and on my own since my husband left me. We moved to Newquay under 2 years ago and so I have no family around and very little confidence to make friends. But thanks to Denise that has all changed not only do I feel more confident financially but also mentally I am a new person; she has introduced me to women in a similar situation and we have formed good friendships, it is nice to know I have support now if I need it. Just a simple thing like talking to someone about nappies etc.! I feel like a person again rather than a mum who would hide away indoors feeling as though I am failing my little girl. Before, I was unable to afford a phone top up, as my money would have to go elsewhere again this stopped me from communicating - this scheme enabled me to do this. Another big problem I had was that my daughter had just started crawling and I desperately needed a fireguard, stairgate etc. to baby proof my house to make sure there were no accidents. This was solved when I received a playpen (wow) giving me the freedom to cook, hang out washing, and eat my tea without having to be up and down every 5 minutes. Just little things really, which people take for granted, but its not that easy when you are by yourself. I used to barely manage to pay bills and provide food for my little girl and myself. This would mean I had hardly any thing to buy items such as a high chair, push chair, or clothing. I would carry my daughter in a sling, as I had no suitable pushchair this was becoming increasingly difficult due to her size. Clothes - was a nightmare as she was growing at such a rate I would worry that one day I would not be able to dress her. As I had limited clothes I would have to wash them as soon as she had worn them so they would be ready for the next day. Attending baby groups was embarrassing as she would be in the same clothes. That has all changed now, Denise was able to provide me with a pushchair and food parcels, and enough clothes to last me for the next year and a half (amazing). Leaving me with money to spend on bills etc. a BIG worry off my mind. I am just so thankful I was lucky enough to meet Denise and be helped by her project. I cannot praise her enough and hope that many others like me can benefit. What she and the project have done for my daughter and I is life changing.” Personal Account.

A donation from a bereaved family enabled us to pilot the project for a month and in this time four local families were assisted. The results of the pilot project were encouraging and so the project was entered into the LLoyds Tsb School for Social Entrepreneurs competition 2013/2014. Competition for places was fierce - approximately 241 applicants applied for the 20 places available and it was a nail-biting selection process. Thankfully the judging panel saw the potential in Noah and the project was awarded a place in the finals. This means that we will receive a grant of £4,000 plus a dedicated mentor to help us to drive the project forward, meaning that many more families can be helped in the future. The long term aim of Noah is that those who have been assisted can then contribute back to the project. For example, one lady is a hairdresser and so she has pledged free haircuts for 12 months to anyone referred to her by the project. Another lady is now training to become a childminder and so she will offer emergency childcare and so on and so forth...the more skills we have at our disposal, the more complete the package we can offer and the less funding we need long term as the project becomes sustainable. We now have a Facebook page The Noah Project Newquay and a website is currently under construction. The long term goal of the project is to work with Fareshare South west utilising surplus food that would otherwise be destined for landfill, and running ticketed events supported by local bands, local brewers, and local businesses so that people can eat drink and be merry whilst supporting a worthwhile cause!! Through the project 2 single mums are now self employed, another left her violent partner potentially saving her life and we prevented a teenage girl being "stalked" by a 65 year old man with a liking for young girls, by ensuring that the police had "a quiet word". The project is amazing. It's saved lives, it's changed lives, and it had potentially prevented a young girl from being molested. Garden TR11cks October Things to do in the garden

PorTRait

Things in the garden are definitely slowing down, as the nights draw in and the leaves start to turn but there are often some beautiful autumnal sunny days in October and the light can be wonderful. October brings the seemingly endless task of raking up fallen leaves. Even though as soon as you have finished more leaves fall it is worth keeping drives and gravel paths clear as once they have rotted down on gravel the leaf mould produced provides the perfect weed bed - aghhh! There can still be plenty of late summer flowers blooming as long as you are still deadheading. Cut back spent foliage, just keeping things neat shows off the remaining flowers at their best. Now is a good time to divide perennials and move shrubs around while the soil is still warm. If you haven’t already ordered them there is still plenty of time to buy bulbs - they are better value from a catalogue, such as Parkers, and you can plant bulbs happily into November. I particularly recommend planting alliums - Purple Sensation and christophii are my favourites - as well as anemone blanda for its February flowering and you can’t have too many tulips in my opinion especially the dark purple Queen of the Night.

Mike Rogers

Flowering plants for October

Aster Little Carlow - a froth of tiny intense lilac blue flowers from September to November on wiry stems. This Michaelmas daisy is tough and never seems to get mildew. It likes sun to part shade and can benefit from staking as its abundant flowers can make it top heavy. Helenium Sahins Early Flowerer - this stunning medium sized perennial starts flowering in June and keeps on flowering into October, especially if deadheaded. Its stiff stems are fairly self supporting & its vibrant yellow orange florets surround a brown pincushion centre. It looks lovely in the autumn sun. OCTOBER 2013
