LEGAL CORNER
The More you tell the more you sell!!!
LEGAL MATTERS CORNER MIRIAM MC GILLICUDDY ANSWERS YOUR LEGAL QUERIES Adoption and Tracing. Nessa was adopted and is trying to find out about her birth parents and is wondering where to start. At present in Ireland an adopted adult cannot get automatic access to their original birth certificate. The reason is the rights of privacy of the birth mother and father if his details are available. If one wants to get that information one approaches the Adoption authority and they will help locating the adoption service that originally placed the child for adoption If they are no longer operating chances are that TUSLA may hold the files. Nessa needs to contact the adoption agency directly to inform them that she has lodged a request with the Adoption Authority to release her original birth certificate. A report will then be written by a social worker outlining what they have found out including Nessa’s wishes, the birth mother’s views on the release of birth certificate and/or whether she would be open to contact from Nessa. The social worker will make a recommendation in relation to the release of the birth certificate. If the birth mother had died a copy of her death certificate may be obtained and in all likelihood the birth certificate would be released then. The Adoption authority review the case and decide whether or not the birth certificate will be released. If the mother objects it cannot be released. The Adoption Authority operates the National Contact Preference Register where people can register where they would like to meet their biological family and where the biological family would like to meet their biological children. This may include extended family connections. www.aai.gov.ie The information and tracing unit can be contacted on 01-2309300 and tracing@aai.gov.ie The area of identity and tracing is supposed to be reformed by new law allowing for young people to establish their identity and obtain release of their early records. It may be that we will have to vote in a constitutional referendum to allow this. AND NOW FOR THE GOOD NEWS... from The Tralee Advertiser Team and Tralee Chamber Alliance
From Scrums to Snugs; Kelly’s Bar Has it All Now By Georgina Downes
Pubs and restaurants are welcoming punters back with open arms, and it’s great to see so many people enjoying the hospitality industry once again, but there’s one premises that was particularly happy to reopen its doors after lockdown: Kelly’s Bar at Tralee Rugby Club. Having undergone a complete transformation over the summer, the folks at Kelly’s were more than happy to show off their new, smart and rustic interior that not only looks great but also creates the perfect atmosphere for viewing a good scrum and tackle. The refurbishment means the club now boasts a state-of-the-art
bar with cosy booths and the unique Sean Kelly snug. Enthusiastic new manager Harry Harty tells me how locals have been reacting to the change. “Customers have been responding with nothing but praise. We’ve gone from being purely a rugby club bar to being more like a traditional local that everyone can enjoy. On Friday nights, we get a lot of locals in, people who live nearby and it’s great because everyone gets a chance to meet up, neighbours, friends, there’s a lovely atmosphere here and the place is really comfortable now.” Kelly’s Bar is named after its former club president the late
Seán Kelly and now boasts an expansive terrace overlooking the Tralee Rugby Club pitches, perfect for watching a match. “On Saturdays and Sundays, people are welcome to come and enjoy the rugby. So far this year, our (Tralee Rugby Club) results have been mixed but on the plus side, we’ve partnered up with Style Catering Food Services so you can order from their fabulous BBQ menu while watching a match. It’s a really great outdoor spot to have a bite with family and friends.” The new interior was created by Donie Daly, the talented designer behind the recently refurbished Mall Tavern and Molly J’s courtyard in Benner’s Hotel, with an emphasis on outdoor socialising and is available for private parties. So, if you have a big zero coming up, or a retirement do or perhaps a christening, this just might be the ideal venue for you. On the new premise, Rob Durran, head of development at Tralee Rugby Club said; “We want this venue to be a home for all the community and not just our club members. This is a great new outdoor
dining option right in the heart of Ballyard, so we hope to welcome all of our neighbours and indeed everyone across the town and county itself over the coming weeks and months.”
Tralee Parnells Run4Pieta
Tralee Parnells Hurling and Camogie club will take part in a Run 4 Pieta event next weekend. Various club members will run/walk from 6pm on Friday 1st until Sunday 3rd at 6pm. Please join our club wherever you are located and get active for at least 30 minutes during this time and donate. All funds raised will be shared equally between the club and Pieta. Pieta provide an invaluable service to our community in raising the profile of mental health and providing support to those that might be feeling suicidal or those that have been affected by suicide. Unfortunately, Pieta were very busy during the lockdown period so supporting this very worthy cause is more important than ever. Also, this will be the main fundraiser for the day to day running of the club so we ask as many people as possible to get involved and to donate as much as they can. We would really like if those who take part could post and tag a picture of their activity on our social media pages. For more information and to donate go to http://bit.ly/tprun4pieta.

Minister Foley announces multi-million euro extension for St Ita’s and St Joseph’s Primary and Post Primary Special School in Tralee The Minister for Education Norma Foley T.D. has officially announced that a multimillion euro extension has been approved for St Ita’s and St Joseph’s special school in Tralee.
The extension provides for four new special educational needs classrooms for the school as well as a social skills room. The school caters for students of 4-18 years of age with special educational needs. Minister Foley said: “I am delighted to be in a position to announce that the extension for St Ita’s and St Joseph’s has been approved. This is a much welcome announcement to cater for the growing needs of the school. “We are committed as a Government to supporting Friday 1st October 2021
students with special educational needs and I believe that this additional accommodation will go further to support the children of St Ita’s and St Joseph’s. It was a pleasure to be able to meet with the remarkable staff of the school today especially the special needs assistants who are providing an invaluable service to these children. This extension is a mark of the great work, service and diligence that this school provides to the area and I would also like to congratulate them on their 50th anniversary.” The Minister visited the school on Friday to meet with staff and students including Principal Grace Sheehan. The school is also celebrating its 50th year in existence this year.

A Message to Students from Brookfield Tuition If we reflect on the last 18 months or so, one thing that stands out is how resolute and adaptable people are. This has been especially true in the education sector, where students and teachers have had to adapt so quickly to online learning and all the challenges that it brought. Great credit is due to all, as it has been a steep learning curve. As we head back towards normality, it is so important for students to focus on their studies and to get into a good routine of work and study as soon as possible. In some cases, extra support may be needed. Attitude is so important. Remember all the
hard work is a means to an end. It will be worth it! So best wishes to all as we settle into a new academic year. “Teachers can open the door, but you must enter it yourself” - Chinese Proverb Elisha and Angela Dowling Brookfield Tuition. A Wellness Column with Alison Boardman
Mind your Language and create the change your heart desires!
Louise Hay is a renowned author and meta physicist , written over 100 books internationally. In any good bookshop you will find one of her books, on finding the power to heal your life to how to develop your self esteem and heal yourself through awareness and positive affirmations. What is an affirmation? It is a positive statement to counteract an ailment, whether emotional or physical sickness. It is the power of positive reflection and action which leads to wellness and away from disease. In today’s world we are so ‘busy’, we often create a chaotic environment around us which can lead to dis-ease. We can stop and do it differently! As Louise Hay says ‘… it is simple but not always easy!’ What three things can we do today to start on a positive journey towards being happy? 1. Change our negative self-talk! Replace the negative words with positive language (e.g. eliminate 'no' or 'not' and replace 'should' with 'could') and develop relationships with positive people who add to our self-esteem. Become aware, change our attitude, say affirmations and act differently! We have 24 hours in each day! How much time do we spend in the past or in the future? Let us learn to be in the 'now'. Meditate, focus on breathing, attend yoga classes, etc. 2. Keep a gratitude journal! Develop an attitude of gratitude and watch our dreams come true! 3. Be kind and gentle to ourselves – look in the mirror every morning and say ‘I love you …. (name)’! and take time to think about what you say and how you say it. Attend a Louise Hay Heal your Life workshop either face to face or online and join a community of positive people who are creating the change they want to see in the world (Ghandi).

12 KEEP YOUR BUSINESS IN TRALEE AND KEEP TRALEE IN BUSINESS!
Hello everyone!
& welcome back to 'Create with Rebecca', a page where I will be talking ALL things social media! (yaaaaaaay!). This column will be especially helpful for those in business looking to navigate the world of social media for their business. I will be simplifying EVERYTHING as well as giving my top tips. Oh, by the way... I can edit videos, advise you on social media & create a new vibe for your brand! (Aka video editor, social media consultant & graphic designer) - so I know what I'm talking about!
WHY ISN'T YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA STRATEGY WORKING?
I'm not sure if you're aware but when it comes to Social Media and Marketing in general, not everything is guaranteed to work first time round, or even at all. Social Media is very much so trial and error, as is marketing in general - the more you try, the easier it will be to hit that sweet spot as to what works for your business / brand. As a social media strategist, I would love if people understood more that just because I am managing / strategising or advising you on your social media accounts, doesn't mean you will go viral automatically, gain thousands of followers or even understand the strategy fully. SOCIAL MEDIA AND BRAND IS A LONG GAME. It doesn't matter how fast trends change or how often instagram changes their algorithm, building brand online should not be for a quick sale, instant gratification or sudden vitality. Of course, all of those things could very well happen, but they should never be the focus. The focus should always be two things: people and how your business / brand relates to them. That's it. If you wanna talk more about longevity on social media or manage your expectations - you can hire me to help! Reach out to createtralee@gmail.com for more info!
For more information on what I do or if you are interested in any of my social media service: I offer 1:1 consultation calls, video editing, graphic design and more, you can follow @create.socialmedia on instagram or email me: createtralee@gmail.com to book a call!

Toyota appoint Kellihers as Sole Dealer in Kerry There’s news on the motoring front with the announcement that Kellihers, the long established Motor Retailer in Tralee, have been appointed sole Dealer for Toyota in Kerry. The franchise was also held by Bowlers Garage in Killarney but they have decided to concentrate on retailing used cars going forward leaving Kellihers to cater for both the sales and aftersales activities of the Toyota carpark in the county. Their 3 acre site in Tralee allows them ample scope to carry the full range of new Toyota passenger car and commercial vehicles as well as a large selection of used vehicles of all brands. Alongside the sales operation, the aftersales services range from servicing and repairs to running an award winning
bodyshop which caters for the slightest scratch to the most complicated and technical of body repairs. Commenting on the development, Kellihers MD Tim Kelliher says “we have always had the height of respect for Bowlers garage and we wish Brian and his team well going forward, at the same time it is a great honour for me to represent Toyota in the county and I am extremely excited to reach out and to offer a Céad Míle Fáilte to all motorists across the whole of the county and beyond. I invite you all to Kellihers to discover the new age benefits of hybrid technology, the never say die durability of our commercial range and the quality and painstaking preparation of our used vehicles. Added to that we carry out an extensive
range of aftersales and maintenance services to both Toyotas as well as across all brands. We employ close to 30 fantastic lads and ladies from the 4 corners of the county
and exceptional customer service is at the forefront of what we do day in day out here in Tralee”.

SLOW COOKED SUCCESS!
Squash , technically a fruit( as it contains seeds ) but widely known and cooked as a vegetable. Some people have never tasted squash let alone cooked with it...and it can be cooked in so many different ways... it can be roasted, braised, steamed, boiled, microwaved, and simmered. And tastes so good no matter which way its done... so here is a simple recipe designed for these Autumn evenings.
SLOW-COOKED WINTER SQUASH WITH SAGE AND THYME INGREDIENTS •
• • • • • •
1 lb. delicata or acorn squash, halved lengthwise, seeds removed, sliced crosswise 1/2" thick 1/2 head of garlic 2 sprigs sage 2 sprigs thyme 1/2 cup extra-virgin olive oil 3/4 tsp. Sea salt 1 Tbsp. white wine vinegar
METHOD Step 1 Place a rack in middle of oven and preheat to 180c Toss squash, garlic, sage, thyme, oil, and salt in a shallow baking dish to combine. Step 2 Turn garlic cut side down, then roast vegetables, tossing 2 or 3 times, until golden brown, very tender, and edges and cut sides are crisp, 60–70 minutes. Let cool slightly, then add vinegar and toss to coat And that's it. Enjoy it.

WHY TAKE SUPPLEMENTS? Most surveys of eating habits conducted since the 1990’s show that even people who claim to eat a good balanced diet may still fall short of optimum levels of essential vitamins and minerals. Why, you may wonder does a good diet not contain all the vitamin and minerals we need for health? Studies show us that nutrient levels in food are falling. Refining food [turning brown into white] also strips away valuable nutrients. Poor intake of nutrients may have a negative effect on your overall heath, also sluggish digestion leads to poor absorption of essential vitamins and minerals from our food. Most people put up with feeling “all right” and may be more prone to regular colds, have low energy, poor digestion, low moods and much more. Ensure your diet is as rich in nutrients as possible. This along with increased intake of certain vitamin and minerals can boost immunity, increase energy and promote a better quality of life. Some of the supplements to consider include: ONE NUTRITION POWER GREENS: available in powder or capsule form. This super food will help ensure you get your daily intake of all your essential vitamins and minerals. Helps with improved energy levels, strengthens immune system, better digestion and visibly improved Hair, skin and Nails. A GOOD QUALITY MULTIVITAMIN: it is important to ensure you
choose a multivitamin which suits your specific needs., e.g if stress is an issue for you, invest in a multi vitamin high in B vitamins. It is always a good idea to buy your supplements where you can get professional advice to ensure you are making the correct choice for you. DIGESTIVE ENZYME: gut health is a huge part of our immune system, and also needed to absorb key nutrients, so keeping it healthy and in balance is essential to good health. One digestive enzyme capsule before each meal will help ensure this. The good news is that the body has an inbuilt repair system but will benefit from particular nutrients such as Vitamin A, C, E, Co-Enzyme Q10 and Betacarotene to help flush away toxins. As always we are available to advise you on which supplement suits your requirements best. Remember to take a good quality PROBIOTIC such as VIRIDIAN, BIOKULT OR OPTIBAC regularly, this helps maintain your healthy gut bacteria and ensures your are absorbing your nutrients for optimal health.
Until next time, stay hwealthy

TALKING SPORT WITH THE TRALEE ADVERTISER
with “The Voice” Pat Harnett
FAI NATIONAl P.R.O. OF THE YEAR STACKS CAN DRAW ON SEASON OF SURPRISES: When the fixtures for the All Ireland Football championship were being made the vast majority were saying that it was going to be a Dublin v Kerry final and we all know how that turned out. After the Garvey’s Supervalu Senior Football Championship draw was made Austin Stacks will be looking at Tyrone and how there are no foregone conclusions in sport. That’s following the draw when they came out of the hat against treble chasing East Kerry. Tralee’s Black and Amber are 12 time champions and would love to parade the Bishop Moynihan Cup along the Street of Champions!! Kerins O’Rahilly were the last team out and will take on St Kierans in a game they will fancy their chances in. Dingle faces Mid Kerry with Kenmare Shamrocks facing St Brendan’s. Regular opponents West Kerry and Dr Crokes clash as do Feale Rangers and South Kerry, Templenoe take on Shannon Rangers while newcomers Spa will take on the Legion in an all Killarney clash. The competition is knock out so there are no second chances with the first round games, as double headers, taking place on the weekend of October 30th/31st. The quarter finals are set for the first weekend of November (the 6th and 7th) with the last four to clash on the weekend of November 20/21st while it will be a happy run into Christmas for the winners of the final due to played on the weekend of November 4th and 5th. AIDAN GOES BACK TO COLLEGE: Well known on the streets of Tralee the vastly experienced ex Kerry and Rathmore footballer Aidan O’Mahony has been appointed as the manager of the MTU Kerry Campus senior football team. It’s a great sign that things are getting back to normal when you see managers being appointed to various teams. O’Mahony said he was delighted to be given the opportunity to manage the team. “I am very excited to be involved with the team and am really looking forward to the challenge ahead. I look forward to getting to work with the talented group of players based at the University and hopefully we will do the MTU proud once the competitions start”. TRALEE COLLEGES KNOW CORN UI MHUIRI OPPONENTS: College footballers will be delighted that the Corn Ui Mhuiri is set to resume on November 3rd and the Tralee schools now know their opponents. The winners Friday 1st October 2021
of the Intermediate School Killorglin versus Tralee CBS will get a bye into the quarter finals. Mercy Mounthawk will take on St Flannans College Ennis while the other ties are St Brendan’s Killarney against Highschool Clonmel, Colaiste na Sceilge play Skibereen Community College and Sciol Pobal Rathmore play CS Chorcha Dhuibhne. PARNELL’S NEWS Tralee Parnells Hurling and Camogie club will take part in a Run 4 Pieta event next weekend. Various club members will run/walk from 6pm on Friday 1st until Sunday 3rd at 6pm. Please join our club wherever you are located and get active for at least 30 minutes during this time and donate. All funds raised will be shared equally between the club and Pieta. The club is asking if those who are taking part could post and tag a picture of their activity ontheir social media pages and for more information and to donate go to http://bit.ly/tprun4pieta. The u8 girls had their final session of the season during which the coaches were delighted with the improvement of the girls. Coaches wish all the girls who are moving up to u10’s all the best and paid tribute to Aoife O’Sullivan and Saoirse Maloney, the youth coaches, who made training so enjoyable. The u9’s enjoyed their in-house blitz with a great range of skills on show by the boys. The u12 played Firies in the third round of the South Kerry group of the u12 competition in Caherslee. The away side led 2-04 to 1-03 and were still ahead until a last minute goal swung the tie in favour of Parnells 4-05 to 3-07. The u12 girls had a valuable friendly with Kileedy from Limerick ahead of their upcoming county final matches. The u14 boys went down to a strong Ballyduff side in the North Kerry Championship 1-07 to 3-07. In the County Minor Shield semi-final Parnells took on Rathmore – a side they had earlier beaten in the Co.League. The Tralee side led 1-07 to 1-05 at the half and in a roller coaster second half where the lead changed on numerous occasions it was the East Kerry side that took the narrowest of wins 1-12 to 1-13. AUSTIN STACKS JUNIOR NEWS: The last Thursday night of the season took place this week. This Saturday they travel to Legion and are also due to play Firies in the last of the GoGames. The u9’s welcomed Ballymac last weekend and on Thursday night the always anticipated Bracker Regan Cup got underway named after legendary club and county player Martin Bracker Regan who won 4 All Ireland medals, 4
County Championship football medals and two hurling medals in the 30’s. On October 9th the boys travel to Killarney to take on the Legion. The u10/11’s continue their Sunday and Thursday training sessions. As the Tralee Town League continues the u13’s continue to train twice a week. The club is encouraging people to support the Lotto and the club shop is open for merchandise. The Juvenile section says well done to the seniors in their win over Dingle. KERINS O’RAHILLYS NEWS: The seniors were delighted to chalk up an important win in Round 3 of the Senior Club Championship defeating Killarney Legion 2-10 to 0-08 with the scores coming from Jack Savage (1-03), Cormac Coffey (goal), Barry John Keane (3 points), Tommy Walsh (3 points) and Gavin O’Brien (0-01). The Club Championships take a break for 4 or 5 weeks as the County Championship takes precedent. The u12 Strand Road Blues side were unlucky to go down to John Mitchels in the Town League and will play their final round away to Stacks. The Kerins O’Rahillys side played Austin Stacks in midweek. The u13 girls put in a great effort in the Championship semifinal just losing out to Stacks. The u14’s are at home to Duagh in the next round. The u17’s had 3 points to spare over Laune Rangers in the Championship and will now face Na Gaeil in the semi-finals. The Junior C Championship side defeated Beale by 3 points and play Glenflesk in the next round. The u5’s and 6’s session was rained off last Sunday. The u7’s enjoyed their clash with the Stacks in the GO Games. The 8’s girls were enjoying their trip to Churchill while the u9 boys took on the Legion. The club is looking forward to everyone coming along to the Family Fun day on Sunday October 10th with plenty of activities for all the families. The jackpot next weekend is e10, 200 BASKETBALL’S DEFINITELY BACK: The long wait for the return of National League basketball is nearly over with the official launch of the new season taking place last night (Thursday night) with a new sponsor also set to be unveiled for the National League and Cup – details of which we will bring you next week. Alongside Garvey’s Tralee Warriors there will also be teams in Castleisland, Killorglin and Killarney. KINGDOM WHEELBLASTERS BACK IN TRAINING: The Kingdom Wheelblasters juniors returned to training this week at the Kerry Sports Academy. The club was delighted to see members of the KRSP at the session and thanked them for helping secure funding for new sports chairs from the Dormant Account Fund. The Wheelblasters would be delighted to welcome any new members at their training sessions. LAUGHTER ....THE BEST MEDICINE ! A MAN IS DISPLEASED WITH THE SOUP HE HAS ORDERED IN A RESTAURANT. So he calls for the waiter, and says to the waiter," Waiter, could you please come over and taste my soup?" To which the waiter replies,"Why, sir? Is it too sour? I could add some sugar to it if you want." "Just come and taste it." "Why? Has it turned cold? I could get it heated for you." "Please just come and taste it." "But why, sir? Is the soup too sour? I could serve you a new bowl if you want." "No, it's not that. Just please come over and taste it." The waiter reluctantly agrees and walks over to the man's table, but finds he cannot drink the soup. "But sir, how can I drink the soup if there's no spoon?" "Exactly."
80-YEAR-OLD GUY GOES TO SEE A DOCTOR FOR A CHECK-UP
80-years-old guy goes to see a doctor for a routine check-up. After the doctor asks about his health, he replies "I am feeling great, I have got married to a 25-year-old girl 2 months ago, and now she is pregnant" After the doctor thinks a bit, he replies to the guy "I will tell you a story." "There was a man who likes hunting. Everyday he picks his rifle and goes hunting. But, one day he accidentally picked his umbrella instead of the rifle. While walking through the trees, he saw a deer just across the way . He positioned his umbrella, aimed at the deer, and bang ! The dear is dead on the ground." The guy is surprised. He interrupts the doctor: "No way, this is impossible, someone else must have taken a shot on the deer." Doctor: "Absolutely!!!"
THE ELDERLY MAN GOES TO VISIT A PHYSICIAN FOR A CHECK-UP
