LEGAL CORNER

The More you tell the more you sell!!!

LEGAL MATTERS CORNER MIRIAM MC GILLICUDDY ANSWERS YOUR LEGAL QUERIES

Susan is buying a second-hand car and is wondering what she should look out for when purchasing. The area of purchasing a second-hand car is one area where consumers need to be extra wary. It is really divided into two areas Where you are purchasing from a car dealer and in this area, there is extra protection as the consumer rights apply that the car should be of reasonable quality in the context of the car’s age, the price and the history of the car (including usage, mileage, and previous accidents). It should be fit for purpose and roadworthy. In fact, there is a second of the sale of goods legislation that makes a dealer liable if he allows a car not roadworthy on the road and it causes an accident. The car should also match any descriptions given on it by the dealership in advertising or online e.g., on a website. It would be important to question the seller vigorously about the history of the car. Consumer rights include getting good title to the car so it should not be repossessed from you if subject to prior hire purchase or loan arrangements. In a car dealer situation, one may also have the added bonus of a 6- or 12-month warranty on the car that if there are any issues with it the dealership will sort them out. These need to be checked carefully to see what they will cover i.e., will they cover parts only or parts and labour. If buying from a private seller none of the consumer protections mentioned above prevail except that the car should be roadworthy and if it causes an accident the seller may be liable if they left an unsafe car on the road. Therefore, one must be much more wary in this situation and also if one is to sell one’s car privately to be aware of the liability issues. It is safer to give one’s car to a car dealer to sell as it takes the responsibility off the private seller. It is a good idea to check the car on the car checker websites – there are a number of them online where one can check using the car registration number and get the history of the car. The national consumer website has a handy car buyers’ checklist that one can use when checking out cars. See https://www.ccpc.ie/ consumers/cars/car-checks#questions Legal Quip: Confucius say, man who runs behind car will get exhausted, but man who runs in front of car will get tired. ITS THE COLD AND FLU SEASON!

Hi Mike, I've got a sore throat and runny nose. How concerned should I be?

Many symptoms of a common cold, seasonal flu and coronavirus can be quite similar and can be difficult to distinguish at times. The common cold is prevalent at the moment and normally starts with a sore throat, along with other symptoms like a watery nose, sneezing, fatigue and cough. One will not normally have a fever with a cold. If you do, it could be a sign of flu or a bacterial infection. Flu symptoms are for more severe, with fever, cough, headache, muscle soreness and general fatigue being a lot more pronounced. Flu can also lead to further complications such as a pneumonia. Covid is still doing the rounds in the community with a lot of symptoms being quite similar to what we see above. If you have any doubts, then I'd recommend an easy-to-use home antigen test available at Ryle’s Pharmacy or a PCR test available at your local test-centre. There is a train of thought to suggest that we could be in for a bad flu season this year due to there being a lot less immunity around because of Covid restrictions last year. For this reason, it is particularly important to get the flu vaccine this year. For youngsters aged 2-17 the vaccine is free, and is a simple nasal spray (no needles)... Most people are entitled to a free flu vaccine so call us to find out if you are entitled to it for free.

Mike

OUR FLU VACCINE CLINIC IS NOW UP AND RUNNING Most people are entitled to the flu vaccine free. Otherwise, we offer a best value in town €25 for the service. Bookings are advised, but we also try our best to accommodate walk-ins, with a fuss-free & convenient, on-the-spot service.

KEEP YOUR BUSINESS IN TRALEE AND KEEP TRALEE IN BUSINESS!

Hello everyone!

& welcome back to 'Create with Rebecca', a page where I will be talking ALL things social media! (yaaaaaaay!). This column will be especially helpful for those in business looking to navigate the world of social media for their business. I will be simplifying EVERYTHING as well as giving my top tips. Oh, by the way... I can edit videos, advise you on social media & create a new vibe for your brand! (Aka video editor, social media consultant & graphic designer) - so I know what I'm talking about!

WHY YOUR INFLUENCER MARKETING STRATEGY ISN'T WORKING So, you have a business that finally decided to implement influencer marketing... first things first, what is it? Influencer marketing employs leading, niche content creators to improve brand awareness, increase traffic, and drive your brand's message to your target audience. These content creators already market to your ideal audience across different channels which allows you to expand your reach across your buyer personas.

You've done this, you've found the most popular influencers, either sent them your product as PR, invited them in for a complimentary service or reached out for a paid collaboration, but it 'didn't work' in your eyes. Here's why your strategy most likely is not working. - You're selecting influencers based on numbers: You know how easy it is to buy followers? €20 for a couple of thousand easy. Just because they have a large following does not mean... well virtually anything really. Also, if their numbers are that big and it is genuine, you most likely will not get much advertising from them unless you pay €€€. Why? Because advertising. Duh. - You're selecting influencers that are not interested or do not use your product or service. People who consume content are smart, and can spot an ad for the sake of an ad from a mile off! If you waste your time sending fake tan to someone who does not use it, that's on you, do your research. - Your expectations are too high: Sorry to be blunt but, honestly. The best type of influencer marketing is the ongoing collaborations with people who align with your brand / business. Unless it's the likes of Kylie Jenner, you more than likely may not get much traction off of one post or mention. You want the influencer to genuinely love your product / service and use it continuously to the point where it is heavily associated with them. That my friends, is effective influencer marketing.

For more information on what I do or if you are interested in any of my social media service: I offer 1:1 consultation calls, video editing, graphic design and more, you can follow @create.socialmedia on instagram or email me: createtralee@gmail.com to book a call!

New Action Plan To Support Economic Recovery Kerry County Council has published an Economic Recovery Plan to help support and guide the county through the challenges of the next phase of the COVID-19 pandemic and to help stimulate and support economic recovery and activity in the county. The plan is a multi-stakeholder response to the impact that COVID-19 has had on the Kerry economy, and reflects the significant capital and programme investment that is committed from national and local government towards the delivery of strategic capital infrastructural projects to support the economic recovery in the county. The Economic Recovery Plan addresses the need to build resilience and diversification into Kerry’s economy to respond to the additional challenges and opportunities faced by businesses in the county, including in the postBrexit and post-COVID-19 environment, the transition to climate neutrality, the transition to a digital economy and the opportunities

presented by remote or blended working. It is a comprehensive plan with some 189 actions. The Plan focuses on a number of key themes including Digital Transformation, the Transition to a Low Carbon Economy, building on Kerry’s natural resources and the necessary training and education to support these structural changes. There will be a continued support of existing business in the efficient delivery of National Schemes and the prioritisation of local supports in training, mentoring, supporting the transition to online trading and lean programmes and assisting the National Pathways to Work Programme 2021-2025. Launching the report, the Cathaoirleach of Kerry County Council, Jimmy Moloney said: ‘The pandemic has been an unprecedented economic challenge for the county. The key sectors in Kerry are tourism, wholesale, retail, agriculture, manufacturing, and local services which

towns, smaller settlements and their hinterlands rely on to generate economic activity – all of which have been impacted by the pandemic. As we approach a fuller reopening the economy, it is important that we have this recovery plan in place that clearly sets out a roadmap for economic investment and sustainability in the years ahead. The Chief Executive of Kerry County Council, Moira Murrell said:‘At the beginning of the pandemic, the public and private sectors in Kerry, building on existing collaborations, recognised the need for a coordinated response to support the

economic recovery of the county. Chaired by Kerry County Council, the Kerry Economic Stakeholder Forum was convened in April 2020 to support the economic recovery of the county. Ms Murrell thanked the many stakeholders and those who contributed to the Plan, particularly the members of the Kerry Economic Stakeholder Forum as well as the Munster Technological University, Kerry Education and Training Board, Kerry SciTech, Kerry Tourism Industry Federation and the Kerry Chamber Network. Baile Mhuire Day Care Centre Purchases Former Balloonagh Convent BAILE Mhuire Day Care Centre for Older Persons is proud to announce that it has purchased the Freehold on its existing site along with the neighbouring Balloonagh Convent and McAuley Home in Tralee. The site, and extensive surrounding gardens, were owned by St Brendan’s Trust under the management of the Bishop of Kerry, and has presented an ideal opportunity for Baile Mhuire to expand the range of services to older people. The purchase of the listed building has been partly-financed through Clann Credo Community Loan Finance, who provide loans to community organisations, charities and social enterprises. The Chairman of Baile Mhuire, Paddy Garvey, said: "This is a great step forward for the provision of care for the elderly and the expansion of services for older persons in Kerry over the next number of years. Securing our existing facility has always been our long-term aim. This, along with the extensive site that Balloonagh offers, is an ideal opportunity for Baile Mhuire to expand the range of services to older people. Baile Mhuire has made a lasting positive difference to the lives of many people over the years and we are committed to continuing this into the future. My colleagues on the Board, past and present, deserve credit for their forward thinking in relation to the growth and development of services at Baile Mhuire.” Friday 22nd October 2021

14 KEEP YOUR BUSINESS IN TRALEE AND KEEP TRALEE IN BUSINESS! OUR PROPERTY PAGE IN ASSOCIATION WITH TOMMY CARMODY’S PROPERTY HOUSE

Tommy’s current market outlook... Hello Tommy. Myself and my partner recently moved to Fenit and see that you have recently become active in the area. We both work remotely and having sold a home in Dublin we have surplus monies which we have been advised by our financial advisor to invest in property. We have approx. €300,000 to invest through a pension angle. I feel we should purchase two properties if possible while my partner feels that we should invest in a single, more substantial property. Can you please advise. Basia & Sergiu Hi Basia & Sergiu. Thank you for contacting us. Firstly, welcome to the area. Secondly, I am sure you have realised that Tralee and the surrounding areas are some of the few locations in Ireland where you can actually purchase two properties for

€300,000! Having looked at current properties listed in Tralee/ Fenit and surrounding areas I would advise purchasing two properties as opposed to one. If purchasing properties to rent the going market rate for a two bedroom home/ apartment is between €900 & €1,000 depending on finish and location. These will cost from €120,000 to €150,000 having taken an average of the most recent 15 sales of comparable properties using my data analytics sources. If you were to purchase a home for €300,000 it is likely to be a 3 bed detached, 4/5 bed semi you will purchase but the likely passing rent is unlikely to exceed €1,500 unless you opt to rent the property on a room to room basis which can be troublesome. If purchasing a 2 bed apartment make sure it is in

a development which is well run, where the majority of owners are up to date with service charge and that the management company is well run.

REMINDER LOCA PROPERT Y TAX L DEADLINE LOOM ING...

The last thing you want to do is purchase a property where the common areas are in disrepair, the owners are defaulting on charges etc. as if a development is looking forgotten about or tired looking it is likely to continue in this state and this first impression will affect the tenant you attract. NB if the two bed apartment does not have a private balcony or terrace I would say AVOID.

Do some research, or give me a call to find out what the passing rents of similar properties were during the last down turn and use this to work out the long term financial risk factor. As always, Tommy Carmody’s Property House are here for you for a personal consultation if required. We can also act as your agent to purchase a property on your behalf. Speak soon, hopefully.

Finally, achievable rents are high at present. Rents are not always going to rise.

Tommy

Banna Beach Rally returns after 4 years! The ever-popular Banna Beach Resort Kerry Winter Stages Rally will return to the Tralee area on November 6th / 7th following a four year layoff. Masterminded by Banna Beach Hotel proprietor William Murphy and Kerry Motor Club in 1989 the traditional end of season event has grown to become one of Ireland’s most popular events. Clerk of the Course Sean Hegarty and team have put together a challenging route to ensure an action packed weekend. A compact six-stage route will challenge competitors using stages in the north Kerry area. New for this year will be the inclusion of a shakedown stage on Saturday afternoon. “We are really looking forward

to welcoming motorsport back to the North Kerry area after such a long lay-off,” said Clerk of the Course Sean Hegarty. “These are challenging times to run a major event but our safety plan is in line with Irish Government, Sport Ireland and Motorsport Ireland guidelines and we have prepared a COVID-19 compliant event. I look forward to welcoming rally drivers, from near and far, including our overseas visitors, on the weekend of the event. “ No fewer than 5 previous winners have entered to date including West Cork's Daniel Cronin and his uncle Denis and local Kerry Motor Club driver Mike Quinn as well as Gary Kiernan, the last man to win in 2017. The Rally will provide a huge boost to the local economy

Things To Do In Tralee This Halloween By Georgie Downes

To get you fired up for the Halloween festivities, here's a selection of events taking place in Tralee this Samhain 1. FOR CULTURE, TRADITION AND OLDWORLD KNOWLEDGE...

Siamsa Tíre is an absolute must this Halloween. You get an authentic, traditional take on Samhain, and you get see the Town Park in all its autumnal glory while your there. The Samhain Festival 2021 kicks off during midterm with a spookilicious program packed with familyfriendly fun. From Mon 25th to Sat 30th, Siamsa will host a mix of theatre, arts & crafts workshops and storytelling with Eddie Lenihan one of the few remaining traditional seanchaithe in Ireland; audiences will be spellbound by the way he weaves a tale. There's also a children’s art exhibition thrown in for good measure. Follow this link for more details: Samhain Festival. 2. SKELETONS AT BALLYSEEDY Nobody does festivities better than Ballyseedy Home & Garden Centre. No matter

what the occasion, these folks really go for it. Their Halloween festival begins on October 23rd so pop in for pop-up activities like jack-olantern carving, sustainable arts & crafts and pottery classes. Tickets can be purchased at the Ballyseedy website. All events are suitable for children aged 8 and upwards. Expect lots of pumpkins.

3. ECO FRIENDLY WITH A SPOOKY EDGE This Halloween, blow away the cobwebs at the Tralee Bay Wetlands Eco & Activity

Park as it hosts some brilliant activities, including a Pumpkin Scavenger Hunt. Places are set to go quickly so book early. A guided nature trail around the Wetlands reveals the spooky creatures that might be lurking beneath the murky waters, while the Scavenger Hunt leads families to the pumpkin patch where you get to choose your own pumpkin to take home and carve. The centre is open daily from 11am – 3pm. See Tralee Bay Wetlands Centre to reserve your place.

4. KID'S HALLOWEEN FANCY DRESS DISCO Little Rosebuds Pamper Parlour is hosting a Fancy Dress Disco on Sunday, 31st October at 1pm. As part of the fun, kids will get a little Halloween Tattoo (temp, naturally), some Halloween treats, extra fun and games and there's a prize for best dressed. Best of all, there's a disco so all the despicable witches and warlocks can shake off that excess Halloween energy while they dance

and prance and hop and skip around, casting spells to their heart's delight. Tickets are 20 euro. Call 066 712 8790 to book your space. 5.CHILL OUT WITH ROOM SERVICE 6.Why not opt for a little 'me

time' this Halloween. Lots of hotels are offering great value Halloween Deals for the mid-term break. Check out The Rose Hotel for their amazing family 2 night b/b and dinner special. Enjoy 10% off an Autumn break at the The Ashe Hotel, right in the heart of Tralee. Or, get into the spirit of the season at the Ballygarry House Hotel beside the wonderfully mystical Ballyseedy Woods, perfect for conjuring up an atmosphere. Whatever you're doing, keep it local and stay safe!

The Cathaoirleach of Kerry County Council, Cllr Jimmy Moloney, has extended his condolences to the family of the late Brendan Kennelly following his death on Sunday. “Brendan Kennelly was a remarkable poet and writer who produced some of the most important and iconic poems which now form part of his rich legacy. He made poetry popular and accessible, which won him such admiration nationally and internationally. “Brendan was first and foremost a Ballylongford man and despite many years in Dublin, he always maintained a close link with, and a love of, his native place. The Chief Executive of Kerry County Council, Moira Murrell, said that Brendan Kennelly was an exceptional ambassador for Kerry. Minister for Education and Kerry TD Norma Foley said “Saddened to hear of the passing of Brendan Kennelly. A proud Kerryman and giant of the world of literature. A wordsmith beyond compare blessed with a noble heart and infinite well of creativity. Many, many happy hours in times gone by spent with my students studying his wonderful poems. Remembering him with both gratitude and admiration. Rest in peace, Brendan.” President Michael D Higgins said "As a poet, Brendan Kennelly had forged a special place in the affections of the Irish people. He brought so much resonance, insight, and the revelation of the joy of intimacy to the performance of his poems and to gatherings in so many parts of Ireland. He did so with a special charm, wit, energy and passion. There are many for whom an insightful and twinkling intelligence has left us, but it will endure in the lines of the poems as he wished.

T RQ U I N G CINA R SAND ! KEEP TRALEE IN BUSINESS! 30 O PREMIUM ADVERTISING KEEP YOUR BUSINESS TRALEE BMW UNVEILS ITS NEW 2-SERIES ACTIVE TOURER

BMW is ‘electrifying’ its revised 2-series Active Tourer range as it outlines details of a one-stop shop for charging vehicles around Ireland and Europe. The new Tourer range includes two mild hybrids for the petrol models but there will be two plug-in hybrids coming later next summer. The new architecture can accommodate electrified drive systems and conventional engines.Debuting on the Tourer 223i and 220i is the 48v mild-hybrid technology. The marque says it means improved efficiency. The 48v electric motor acts as a starter generator and power booster for the engine. Of more interest will be two plug-in hybrids from summer 2022 (230e xDrive and 225e xDrive Active Tourers). They claim up to 80km on pure electric power alone.Prices start from €41,225 (on the road); first deliveries due next March. From launch, there will be two petrols and a diesel. BMW says the new Tourer has tech and spec that would normally be on larger, more expensive models. For example, it debuts the BMW Operating System 8 and the new generation of the brand’s iDrive control system with Curved Display. Until now, the system has only been on the fully electric BMW iX and BMW i4.There is a big range of driver assistance systems as standard or optional. The 7spd Steptronic dual-clutch transmission is standard. There are Sport, Luxury and M Sport trim levels. Sport includes 17in alloys, Sport seats with cloth upholstery, LED headlights, parking assistance, reversing camera and park distance control.Luxury has aluminium exterior trim, Vernasca leather upholstery, heated front seats. M Sport adds a new front apron, 18-inch alloys, Adaptive M Sport suspension, Adaptive LED headlights, sport seats, Alcantara/Sensatec upholstery, Luxury instrument panel, heated seats and wireless charging. As it is a family car, a lot of attention has been paid to improving the seating and room. ISOFIX child safety seat fasteners are integrated into the rear outer seats. The 40:20:40 split rear backrests can fold to expand boot capacity. The plug-in hybrid boot can take 1,370 litres.

WHY DO WE HAVE 900,000 LESS-GREEN AND LESS-SAFE CARS ON THE ROAD?

To answer, I’m putting myself in the shoes of someone who owns a car aged 10 years or more – and I’m wondering. Wondering what they make of all the awesome expanse of technology and comfort that adorn new and newer cars. The stuff that makes new motors so much safer and ‘greener’ than the older ones they have had for quite a while. The most likely reason they have an old car is that they can’t afford the expense of a new one. And those sums are increasing by the month: be it the rising cost of producing a modern car, high secondhand prices or taxation. I get the feeling there’s a sense of alienation, of being powerless to reach for the new or the newer three-year-old. Sure, I know some who are proud of maintaining their motors in tip-top shape. But I also know, because I get told a lot, that there are families out there praying they will get through the winter without an expensive breakdown. There are nearly a million of them/you who own a car that is at least 10 years old (900,000 and climbing), according to the latest official figures from the Society of the Irish Motor Industry. Cars are vital for so many, especially down the country, that the case for something being done to reduce that figure is strong. Greater safety, such as in accident avoidance technology, should be of prime concern. And there is the overall issue of lowering emissions (newer car = lower CO2). We talk a lot about safety and even more about transport’s carbon footprint. But are we really, radically serious about doing something? I’ll leave the answer to that with the owners of 900,000 old cars.(Eddie Cunningham , Indo Motoring )

C- CLASS OR IS IT AN S-CLASS ?

The new Mercedes C-Class has arrived and costs from €53,350. Mercedes is effectively describing it as a scaled-down S-Class, such is the level of specification, safety and comfort elements it says has been channelled from the large flagship. Prices start from €53,350 for the C180 petrol version. From the launch, there are five petrol and three diesels, in saloon and estate guises. All have four-cylinder turbo-charged engines and 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission. The petrols are C180 (1,496cc), C200 and C200 4MATIC (1,496cc), C300 and C300 4MATIC (1,999cc). Diesels include C200 d (1,951cc), C220 d (1,992cc) and C300 d (1,992cc). Plug-in hybrid versions with a claimed electric range of around 100km will follow. The new car is roomier, longer and wider, with a 25mm enhanced wheelbase. The boot is up 30 litres to 1,510 with the 40:20:40 split rear seats folded flat. During the three decades of its existence, the C-Class has sold nearly 11 million units. Friday 22nd October 2021

TALKING SPORT WITH THE TRALEE ADVERTISER in the Eamonn O’Donoghue Cup.The Green u15 boys took on the Sem in the Brother Taft Cup.

with “The Voice” Pat Harnett

FAI NATIONAl P.R.O. OF THE YEAR IS TRALEE NOW THE CENTRE OF KERRY (CLUB) FOOTBALL? Austin Stacks celebrating their third Club Championship in a row by once again defeating Kenmare Shamrocks. A goal from Conor Jordan, set up by Kieran Donaghy, gave the Black and Amber the ideal start and they went onto win 1-16 to 1-11. Kenmare’s Kerry star Sean O’Shea got their goal and added 5 points but in truth was well held as Wayne Quillinan and the Stacks management got their match-ups correct. The Stacks celebrated the win on Sunday night but were right back to training last Tuesday night as they prepare for their Garvey’s Senior Football Championship opener in two weeks where the face defending champions East Kerry who are going for their own three in a row. This will be a huge test but the Stacks on their day are well capable of causing an upset but in a quirk of Kerry football should East Kerry win the Stacks will be cheering them onto the title – or another District League side – as they win then represent Kerry in the Munster Club championship. Or of course the Stacks could go on and win the title!! The Stacks are the last of four games on Saturday October 3rd when they throw in at their namesakes pitch at 7pm. Prior to that at 5pm another Tralee side are in action when Kerins O’Rahillys take on St Kierans also in Austin Stacks Park. There are two games at 3pm on Saturday and the other 4 games are on Sunday. And the great news for the eight games is that there are no limits to crowds attending the games following the relaxing of more restrictions. There was more good news for Tralee GAA with the progressing of Na Gaeil where the will face Beaufort in the Intermediate club football championship. They had 8 points over Casstleisland Desmonds 1-19 to 1-11. John Mitchels also had a very important win over Currow in Castleisland 1-19 to 1-16 in their Intermediate relegation clash. So with things go well for the Tralee clubs football is certainly strong in the town at senior level will this lead to more Tralee players being given a chance to impress Kerry manager Jack O’Connor at inter county level? Tommy’s Time is Up: One player who won’t be waiting by the phone for a call from the Kerry manager is Tommy Walsh who has announced his Inter County retirement. The 33 year old had a great career In the green and gold culminating in two All Ireland wins and of course he also played professionally in Australia for a number of seasons. Walsh also overcame a serious hamstring injury to get right back to his best. County Chairman Tim Murphy, many of his teammates past and present and incoming manager Jack O’Connor paid tribute to Walsh. O’Connor said he Friday 22nd October 2021

was saddened to hear of the player’s decision to retire from the Inter County game. “I coached Tommy for two years firstly in 2008 with Rahilly’s when he was instrumental in helping the club to a county final and in 2009 with Kerry. That 2009 All Ireland final when he kicked 4 points, 2 with each foot, was one of his greatest exhibitions. He was certainly a man for the big occasion and I wish him many more years with his club”. PARNELLS NEWS Well done to the u12 Girls Blue team who made history on Wednesday night in Caherslee when they became the first Parnells team to win the Division 1 Cup in the County League defeating a strong CillArd team after going through the League undefeated. And there was more joy when the Amber team displayed all their skills to defeat the same opposition in the Division 2 Shield final. This was a great achievement by the players on both squads, their coaches and management. The club wished these girls the best of luck to the majority of these players who are moving up to u14. The under 7 boys and girls travelled to Firies on Saturday for a blitz with teams from across the county. The club fielded two teams and played teams from Abbeydorney, Ardfert, St Pats and the host club. The work done on the training ground certainly showed on the day. The club thanked all the parents who travelled and Firies for hosting the Blitz and the County Board for providing the Goodie Bags. The club thanks the members of the u9’s who raised e150 for the clubs Run4Pieta fundraiser. AUSTIN STACKS JUVENILE NEWS: The u7’s season comes to an end this Sunday while the u9’s were in Milltown for an inter club blitz last weekend. The Bracker O’Regan season brings their season to an end this Sunday, October 24th. Who will take the trophy home for the first time in two years. The u11’s will battle it out for the John Galvin trophy this Sunday with a great battle expected before the winner is known. They can then look forward to their winter break. The u13’s season ended last night with the final of the Timberland Kitchens and Flooring Tralee and St Brendan’s Boards League. They played Kerins O’Rahillys in the Division 3 final. The Juvenile section of the club is delighted for Wayne and the seniors following their win on Sunday. COLLEGES UPDATE: Tralee CBS defeated Colaiste na Sceilge in the final of the Dr Eamonn O’Sullivan Cup. Mercy Mounthawk played IS Killorglin in the O’Sullivan Shield in midweek as did the schools 15’s who took on St Michael’s Listowel

KERINS O’RAHILLYS NEWS: The club wishes the senior side all the best in the County Championship as they play St Kierans in Austin Stacks Park on Saturday at 5pm. The hugely successful underage Academy came to an end at the weekend. Over 280 juveniles took part with 40 plus coaches involved. The club are also thankful to sponsors Eleanor and Roy from Sandy Feet Farm. The u9 boys finished their season after their Go Games against Glenbeigh/ Glencar. The u11’s are indoors for the next few weeks. The club is delighted for the u12 Blue team as the girls won the Town Shield defeating St Pats. Joint captains Erika Slattery and Grace Kirby accepted the trophy. The u14’s have two games left while the u16’s went down to the Stacks. There was no winner of the Lotto from the numbers drawn 8,17,24 and 29 with the next jackpot being e2,200. OPPORTUNITY TO RACE BIKES COMES TO THE UNDERAGE IN NORTH KERRY: While there is a strong underage cycling programme ran by the Killarney Cycling Club there has been nothing similar for riders in the northern side of the county. Tralee, West and North Kerry has produced a number of very good riders but these have moved to other clubs further afield to gain their experience. Now Tralee Lee Strand have plans to start a youths cycling club with a view to participating in Youth Road Races in Munster in 2022. The new club will cater for boys and girls in u12, u14, u16 and junior categories. The minimum age for insurance purposes is 10 years of age on January 1st 2022. If you have a young keen cyclist interested in getting involved in the Tralee Lee Strand underage club please contact Sean on 0879449443 or email Sean on seaniemoriarty@msn.com Top Cycling Ireland officials head for Tralee: There are a number of Kerry cycling administrators headed up by Eugene Moriarty at the top table of Irish cycling and they will be heading to the Rose Hotel on Saturday November 6th where the Cycling Ireland AGM will take place. WARRIORS YOUNGSTERS STEP UP AS THEY GO 2 FROM 2: Having won their opening day game for the first time a depleted Garvey’s Tralee Warriors side headed to the Kingfisher Arena at NUIG to face Moycullen. Having impressed in his debut Aaron Calixte had another impressive performance hitting a game high 31 points. But in the 84-81 point win head coach John Dowling will have been delighted with the performance of his younger squad members with James Fernane and Steven Bowler particularly impressing. The Warriors led by 11 at the half 47-38 and 71-64 after three quarters but the home side never gave up and closed the gap to two points before a big Fernane score settled the Tralee nerves. Bowler fired in another vital score and two Calixte free throws saw them seal a narrow but vital win. Calixtes 31 points were added to by 17 from Fergal O’Sullivan and 10 from James Fernane.

LAUGHTER ....THE BEST MEDICINE !

A MAN WALKS INTO A BAR

A man walks into a bar and orders six whiskies. He lines them up in a row and knocks back the first, third, and fifth glasses. Then he gets up to leave. “ Don’t you want the others?” asks the barman.”You’ve only had three of your whiskies.” “Best not” replies the man, “My doctor said it was only okay to have the odd drink.”

MY EX MADE THIS FACEBOOK STATUS ABOUT HOW SHE FEELS LIKE SOMEONE IS WATCHING HER... ...but I’ve been following her around all week and I can guarantee no one is stalking her.

A GUY TOOK HIS BLONDE GIRLFRIEND TO HER FIRST FOOTBALL GAME...

After the game, he asked her if she liked it. She replied, “it was fun but I don’t see why they made such a big fuss over 25 cents.” The guy asked, “What do you mean?” And she said, “Well, at the beginning of the game, they flipped a coin and someone took it, and for the rest of the game, they kept shouting ‘Get the quarter back! Get the quarter back!’”

DONALD TRUMP IS BOARDING AIR FORCE ONE

When all of a sudden, an assassin jumps out and points the gun at Trump. A member of the secret service sees this and yells, “Mickey Mouse!” This startles the would-be assassin so much that it gives the other agents time to apprehend him. While the agents interrogate the assassin, Donald Trump pulls the agent aside and says, “ Why did you yell Mickey Mouse when you saw the assassin?” The agent says, “Well, I got nervous and meant to say Donald Duck.”

A MAGICIAN WAS WORKING ON A CRUISE SHIP IN THE CARIBBEAN. THE AUDIENCE WOULD BE DIFFERENT EACH WEEK, SO THE MAGICIAN ALLOWED HIMSELF TO DO THE SAME TRICKS OVER AND OVER AGAIN.

There was only one problem, the captain’s parrot saw the shows every week and began to understand what the magician did in every trick. Once he understood that, he started shouting in the middle of the show: “Look, it’s not the same hat!” “Look, he’s hiding the flowers under the table!” “Hey, why are all the cards the Ace of Spades ?” The magician was furious but couldn’t do anything; it was the captain’s parrot, after all. One day the ship had an accident and sunk. The magician found himself on a piece of wood in the middle of the ocean, and of course the parrot was by his side. They stared at each other with hate, but did not utter a word. This went on for several days. After a week the parrot finally said: “Okay, I give up. What’d you do with the boat?”

I STARTED DATING THIS BLONDE CHICK LAST NIGHT.

“Do you have any kids?” she asked. “Yes,” I replied. “I have one child that’s just under two.” She said, “I might be blonde, but I know how many one is.”
