LEGAL MATTERS CORNER MIRIAM MC GILLICUDDY ANSWERS YOUR LEGAL QUERIES

John is thinking of buying his son aged 10 years a motorised scooter for Christmas but is just wondering what the the legal restrictions in relation to scooters are. There is no specific legislation in Irish Law on the regulation of scooters. However, if they satisfy certain requirements they may be classed as mechanically propelled vehicles and as a result must be taxed, insured, and have details available for the Gardai. The driver may also have to have a license. So essentially they are illegal as there is no method of getting a license, tax or insurance for them at present to be able to use them legally on the road. Under current provisions, all non-mechanically propelled vehicles must use roads and cycle tracks - but not footpaths. Yet if an e-scooter were to do this they could be prosecuted for having no insurance and there have been some cases of this already. There are multiple different type of scooters on the market but if the scooter has pedals and needs pedalling to get started it my not be categorised as a moter propelled vehicle. This would apply especially to ebikes. The government has legislation in the offing which will provide for the new class of vehicle the “Powered personal transporter”. The new legislation is the Road Traffic and Roads Bill 2021. It will mean that this new class of vehicles will not require the same licensing, insurance, and tax regulation as motorbikes. These transporters are being defined as being designed for one person, not having a weight over 55 kilos and a speed limit not below 6 kilometres per hour and not above 25 kilometres per hour. It is a new vehicle class essentially. tax, insurance and driving licences will not be required for the use of e-scooters. The new legislation will regulate where these scooters can be used and will essentially legalise them. It will also deal with e-bikes. We are one of the last countries in the EU to introduce this type of legislation.Because e scooters are not legal in Ireland some operators have not been selling e scooters here so it may be better for John to wait until he sees what is in the new legislation when it is finalised after Oireachtas discussion. Moreover, if more companies come into the Irish market to sell their scooters there will be more competition and he may be able to get a better e-scooter when there is a more comprehensive selection available.

Hello everyone!

& welcome back to 'Create with Rebecca', a page where I will be talking ALL things social media! (yaaaaaaay!). This column will be especially helpful for those in business looking to navigate the world of social media for their business. I will be simplifying EVERYTHING as well as giving my top tips. Oh, by the way... I can edit videos, advise you on social media & create a new vibe for your brand! (Aka video editor, social media consultant & graphic designer) - so I know what I'm talking about!

YOU DON’T HAVE TO BE YOUR BRAND

When a lot of clients start working with me, they come to me stressed and confused as they don’t want to be ‘the face’ of their business / brand. I’m going to let you in on a secret, you don’t have to be the face. ust because personal brands are successful and we’re in the era of ‘The Influencer’, doesn’t mean that you have to act like a blogger to thrive in business. There are so many types of content that you can make without showing your face, you can use stock footage, photo / video montages, voiceovers, graphics and more. Not only that but you can alsopay content creators to make content for your product / service. Outsourcing content creators is especially beneficial on TikTok. ig brands tend to not understan TikTok yet and also, trying to sell to Gen is not the move. If you hire a Tiktok creator, they will be able to make relevant content about your brand / business for the relevant platform. This is their field, let them thrive! Try not to be too controlling with briefs and specificities as generally this hinders creativity. if you want to discuss more on this topic with me for your business you can email me or find me on Instagram @create.socialmedia.

For more information on what I do or if you are interested in any of my social media service: I offer 1:1 consultation calls, video editing, graphic design and more, you can follow @create.socialmedia on instagram or email me: createtralee@gmail.com to book a call!

Minister For Justice Relaunches Safer Night Out Campaign

Minister for Justice, Helen McEntee, joined Tralee Chamber Alliance for the Re-launch of the Safer Nights Out Campaign. This multi-agency collaboration to improve personal safety on Nights out will see a further expansion of the See Something Say Something initiative to include the 104 taxi drivers of the Tralee Taxi Association, Taxi Text, while also including the Ask for Angela safety campaign across their fleet of drivers. Building further on Tralee Chamber’s on-going work with An Garda Siochana to improve personal safety on nights out , TCA are launching a newly improved Safer Nights Out campaign. Key elements include:Operation Safe Home - Distribution of High Vis jackets by Gardai to vintners for customers who walk home at night.Ask for Angela - This successful campaign will be re-launched with the vintners playing a key part in keeping people safe while socialising. This is a code word campaign for people who feel unsafe on a night out. The initiative encourages people who find themselves in a dodgy or suspicious situation to ‘Ask for Angela’ at the bar. The phrase alerts bar staff that something is amiss and they will safely diffuse the situation.Taxi Text - In collaboration with the Tralee Taxi Association we will introduce the new Taxi

Text initiative which will work as follows:Taxi drivers will use the existing ‘See Something, Say Something’ protocol to alert Gardai of - Suspicious behaviour/ Vulnerable persons walking home alone/- Anti-social behaviour/- Drug dealing/Public disorder In short , when a taxi driver witnesses any of the above or overhears/sees something suspicious from occupants of their taxi, when the vehicle is stationary, they will text ‘Tralee’ followed by the details of the report including location to 50555. The service is anonymous. The Ask for Angela campaign will be extended to taxis. Where a person gets into a taxi and are uncomfortable in the company that they are in, they can discreetly ask ‘Did you pick up Angela tonight’ alerting the driver who can do the following: 1. Ensure that

the other person is dropped off at their destination first 2. Contact Gardai 3. Drive to the nearest Garda Station Kerry Rape Crisis Centre is fully supportive of this initiative. There are currently 104 members of Tralee Taxi Association and all supportive of both the ‘Taxi Text’ and the

‘Ask for Angela Campaign’ initiatives. This Taxi Text initiative is the first of its kind in the country and given the presence that taxis have in our urban and rural areas its benefits will be far reaching in keeping our people safe.

Warriors Unbeaten Run Ends as They Are Hit for Six by Maree

Garvey’s Tralee Warriors early season unbeaten run came to an end last night when they suffered their first defeat of the campaign going down 97-91 to NUIG Maree at the Kingfisher Arena in Galway. In an entertaining opening quarter the sides went score for score early with Aaron Calixte, Ron Elksnis and Nikolo Roso trading baskets with Eoghan Rockall, Luka Krajlic and a double from Deondre Jackson saw the teams level at 12-12. . Calixte managed two late scores and three from four from the line and the Warriors had all their three-point shooters in play in the dying moments, but it was too little too late as following their Cup win last week Maree bagged the precious League points by 97-91 in the end. Next up for the Garvey’s Tralee Warriors is a home tie with Bright DCU Saints at the Tralee Sport Complex on Saturday next with tip off at 7.30pm. Photos by Liam Ryan

County Clash and Local Derby!!!

Ryles Remedies by Mike and Gráinne Ryle

Tralee Town Board are all looking forward to a great Senior County Championship semi final clash between Austin Stacks and St. Brendans next weekend. We wish both teams all the best. Coiste Trá LíI would like to congratulate our Under 15 team who have qualified for this year's Under 15 County District Championship Cup Final". The Final is to be played on Sunday November 14th against Mid Kerry. They qualified by beating St Brendan's and Eoghan Ruadh. The panel has players from Austin Stacks , Kerins O Rahilly's and John Mitchels. We the board wish the Management and Players the best of luck in the Final. John Slattery. ..Secretary of Coiste Tra Li. & Tim Lynch PRO

‘GRAWNZ SWEARS BY…’

As pharmacists, we develop ‘favourites’ – items that we have used ourselves, or have heard excellent feedback on from happy customers. I often hear Jane, Kat and Vera recommend a product in the pharmacy by starting with a reassuring ‘Grawnz swears by…’, so here are a few of my top OTC items (not sponsored, but compiled after years of observation!): Hydrocortisone 1% Cream: the first thing I recommend for (almost) all rashes or skin irritations – everything from sunburn to hives. Guaranteed to either improve an allergic or atopic reaction, or to worsen an infection, meaning you know it’s time for a visit to your doctor. Not suitable for shingles! Salatac Gel: in my experience, the most effective to clear minor warts & verrucas. Takes commitment and hard work (six weeks or so) but penetrates down as far as the root more effectively than many other treatment options. Rubex 8-Hour: A slow-release multivit/mineral tablet, suitable from 12 years and up. Gentle on the tummy, and because of the 8-hour release profile, allows maximum absorption from the stomach. I couldn’t function without these! Revive Active Beauty Complex: I took these for a while, and a customer told me my frown lines weren’t as deep. Enough said!! Optibac for Everyday: The girls are blue in the face from hearing me declaring my love for probiotics– they are a wonder product for gut health, immune system, women’s health, the list goes on. Optibac for Everyday are my probiotic of choice, but I strongly recommend that everyone incorporate any good quality probiotic into their daily routine (and of course load up during and after an antibiotic course to replenish the body’s good bacteria). Don't forget to call to the pharmacy to support the fantastic Comfort for Chemo fundraising drive by donating one of our lovely Chemo Buddy gift boxes!

A CHAT ON THE STREET WITH... Chris and Mary

Hilary, Nicole and Mary

They form part of the team at the Brand new Cosmetic and Hair Restoration Clinic (CHRC) located at the Bons Secours Hospital in Tralee. Hilary Fitzgerald, CHRC Manager, Nicole McElistrim, Client Liason and Mary O Donnell, Brand Representative... Hilary , let me start with you... is this Clinic part of the Bons Secours Hospital Group or a standalone operation? This is the flagship CHRC Clinic concept for the Bons Secours Hospital and Tralee was selected to host the very first Clinic in Ireland for many reasons. Can you tell me some of those reasons? Well the location alone with Tralee right in the heart of Kerry, its beautiful scenery both by the ocean and the mountains and its wonderful Hotel infrastructure here in Tralee and indeed Kerry which is so important to our clients.. They see Tralee as a ‘Cosmetic Getaway‘ when they come to visit us. And one of the reasons they come is for your Hair Restoration procedure? Yes, our Clinic is the only healthcare provider in Ireland to house the ARTAS iX robotic hair restoration device responsible, using AI technology, for delivering the most naturallooking results in this area. Niclole, this procedure is proving quite popular? Yes, we haven’t, for obvious reasons, had an official launch of the Clinic yet. However we already have a large waiting list for this procedure alone.

abroad but here in Kerry, you have the excellence in Health that the Bon Secours are renowned for, in conjunction with the high level of professionalism that the Clinic brings. I see the CU Easy Pay on your adverts with The Tralee Advertiser? Yes this makes all our procedures and treatments very affordable, something that our clients can make fit into their lifestyle. This is provided by Cara Credit Unions here in Kerry. Can you give me an example of this professionalism, Hilary? If you take our initial Hair Restoration Consultation, the client is assessed in this stand alone, no-obligation meeting as a ‘Small, Medium or Large ‘which essentially is to do with the area of hair that needs to be restored and the level of urgency for a successful restoration. Indeed we may advise alternative solutions such as medication. So the initial Consultation is key to the whole process.

And are they travelling from afar? Yes, we have clients booked in from counties such as Donegal Galway Limerick and Cork as well as Kerry.

This must reflect well with your clients Nicole? Yes Indeed... We see it initially with the follow up... Where the client would be having their first haircut a few weeks after the procedure... Just to see the increase in confidence in them, it certainly gives the whole team here a lift and a sense of satisfaction and achievement. It really has impacted on the clients life going forward.

So there are a lot of positives in travelling to Tralee then Mary? Yes, not only do you not have the added expense of flight costs, follow up trips, additional time off work when you travel

Mary, you are well known in Tralee and Kerry... Whats your position at this new Clinic? My involvement in the Clinic is 2-fold, firstly as a Practitioner to some of the facial rejuvenation

treatments that are available in the Clinic and also carrying the Brand representative role to help promote the Clinic. So tell me Mary, what are the other procedures that you provide here? Probably the big one here is the award winning treatment called Tribella which essentially is 3 different procedures in one... Firstly. IPL which is laser treatment for maybe skin rejuvenation, fine lines, wrinkles, scar tissue. Or veins, Second we have Skin Tightening (via Radio Frequency tightening of the muscles) and thirdly Nano Fractional which deals with the resurfacing and remodelling of the skin in areas such as the face, neck, decollatage and hands. And other treatments? Yes we also have the body treatments such as Cellulite Reduction, Fat Reduction and Skin Tightening in various areas around the body. Of course I have to mention that all these are ‘Non-Invasive’ treatments apart from the Hair Restoration which in ‘Minimal Invasive‘ And which is proving most popular? At the moment it is skin tightening both in the neck area as well as the abdomen. Obviously with all the world turning to zoom calls, people became very aware and as a result, more conspicuous of their neck area. This is a

course of treatments that we provide and you may even see a difference after the very first treatment! And just as popular with both men and women! And are there other problems that you are seeing Hilary? Well yes, after the summer months people can have pigmentation issues on their skin. So we also carry a range of Professional peels, a medical grade of Skincare and of course the one that is treanding now is the Glowpeel as promoted by Laura Whitmore ..this is the one that ‘ everyone wants‘ And its here at the CHRC! Hilary, these treatments are normally associated with places like New York or indeed Harley Street in London and indeed you feel like thats where you are when you walk in the door and now they’re available in Tralee! Thats quite an investment! Yes, The Bons Secours Hospital Group have invested over €1.1 million so far in both infrastructure and also in our personnel, to ensure Tralee remains as the flagship. And we look forward to seeing this concept grow throughout Ireland

THERE is plenty for Kerry GAA followers in a new book that will hit the bookshelves this week - 'Kerry Game of My Life'.The new publication from Hero Books is written by David Byrne. From the 1959 All-Ireland final between Kerry and Galway to the All-Ireland Club semifinal between Dr Crokes and Corofin, 30 of the greatest Kerry footballers over the last 60 years tell of the games in green and gold that defined their lives.Including first-

person testimonials from many of the stars of the 1975/85 era when Mick O’Dwyer’s brilliant team dominated the game and changed Gaelic football forever - and also teams from The Kingdom that won AllIrelands in the 90s, noughties and in 2014. Household names who played with the county throughout the last 60 years but failed to ultimately taste All-Ireland glory will also talk about the one game they will always remember

"I am privileged to be able to share the fascinating stories of these 30 footballing legends," said David Byrne. "Kerry Game of My Life is not only a look back on games gone by, but an exciting journey through the past, what makes these 30 men tick, and what got them to that stage of their footballing career. I am really excited to bring to you these stories from both on and off the field."The new book leads the reader through 30 Kerry and club games from the point of view of former Kerry stars including Mick O'Dwyer, Dr Sean Murphy, Mikey Sheehy, Eoin 'Bomber' Liston, Jack O'Shea, the Ó Sé brothers, Seamus

Moynihan, Dara Ó Cinnéide, Kieran Donaghy, and many more. The exciting new book also tells of the many ups and downs of the 30 stars, both on and off the field, one that is set to enthral Kerry football fans throughout the world Kerry Game of My Life is available in all good bookstores now . New Tax Role For Tommy Walsh! TOMMY Walsh may have put his Kerry jersey away, but the Head of Taxation at CDS Law & Tax LLP is playing a more central role for his firm after being elected to the Council of the Irish Tax Institute. The All-Ireland Senior Football winner will serve on the Council which oversees the strategic governance of the leading representative body for Ireland’s Chartered Tax Advisors. Tommy Walsh, who operates from the CDS Law & Tax Office in his native Tralee, said: “I was elected to the Council of the Irish Tax Institute in June and took up my appointment in September. It’s great for the firm to have some representation on the Council in County Kerry. My involvement on the Council will provide me with an opportunity to be involved in the strategic direction and governance of the Institute and provide a forum for local lawyers, accountants and tax professionals to make representations through me. Through my involvement on various committees, the makeup of which will be determined in the coming weeks, I expect to work closely with other Council members by discussing matters that we’re seeing and experiencing within the industry. I’m very much looking forward to my tenure

with the Council.” Since joining CDS Law & Tax in 2018, Tommy has provided a range of tax compliance and consultancy services to both private and corporate clients in Kerry, Cork and nationwide. Jennifer Downing, Partner at CDS Law & Tax LLP and a proud Kerry woman from Kenmare, said; “Tommy’s sporting prowess and proven business acumen mean he is a fantastic asset to the CDS Law & Tax team, and will be ideally positioned to bring a focused and fresh perspective to the Council of the Irish Tax Institute. He represents the modern face of taxation consultancy having built a wide range of practical experience across multinational groups, Irish SMEs, and sole-trader businesses. We congratulate Tommy on his well-deserved success.” Tommy Walsh is an AITI Chartered Tax Advisor and his undergraduate qualification is in Construction and Management which he has used as a grounding to develop his tax career. Whilst playing professional football in Australia he strengthened his knowledge by gaining further university qualifications in commerce. He announced his retirement

from inter-county football with Kerry last month and he said he is looking forward to developing the potential for CDS Law & Tax to deliver a quality service to businesses in the Kerry/Cork region. “By retiring from inter-county football, it obviously gives me a bit more time from week to week. We’ve recently opened a CDS Law & Tax office in Denny Street, Tralee and I will have more time to drive that. There’s a lot of business in Kerry, probably unbeknownst to people, so I think we can provide that market with a really good quality service. We’re a one-stop-shop: you come in for your commercial activities and we’ve a taxation side of the house as well. We’re hoping to expand all over Kerry and having our base in Tralee and the quality

of personnel that we have here, makes it an exciting time for the firm. “I decided to retire from intercounty football because of age predominantly I suppose. Unfortunately your body starts to creak a bit when you go past 30, but I have had a very enjoyable career. I was in and out of the Kerry scene obviously and I enjoyed my stints in there. There were many highs and lows but I just felt that it was my time.” Tommy Walsh may be contacted at the CDS Law & Tax LLP Office, 4 Denny Street, Tralee, Co. Kerry. Email Tommy.Walsh@ CDSLAW.ie or phone 066 716 9033. For more information, visit www.CDSLaw.ie.

This 7.5-tonne Terminator-style electric juggernaut is being hailed as the future of trucking - and it's British. The Tevva Truck is designed to address the haulage industry’s immediate need to electrify, with the UK and Europe committed to a target of net zero emissions by 2050 alongside a proposed ban on the sale of all polluting vehicles by 2035. It will have a range of up to 160 miles between charges as a pure battery electric vehicle, or up to 310 miles with its hydrogen fuel cell range extender technology (REX). The truck is being developed by a team led by Ken Scott, former engineering director at both Bentley and Alexander Dennis, and styled by Dale Grewer, former chief designer at Jaguar Land Rover. In a boost to the British automotive industry, the Tevva Truck will be manufactured in a brand-new facility in the London Thames Freeport area, putting central London and Europe within easy reach. The 11,000m2 manufacturing plant is set to create an additional 1,000 skilled mechanical, software, engineering, and manufacturing jobs in the next 24 months, adding to the 60 plus jobs already created this year. The facility is initially expected to begin manufacturing 3,000 trucks per annum by 2023.Asher Bennett, founder and CEO of Tevva, said: “Technology is transforming the commercial vehicle sector at pace, making it safer, greener, and entirely more efficient. “But meaningful change is a gradual process, it must happen one step at a time, even if those changes are needed in fast succession. “The Tevva Truck provides a natural transition into electrification for fleet managers, providing total peace of mind and a compelling total cost of ownership proposition, with no compromise on range and reliability and minimised compromise on payload.” The Tevva Truck can carry up to 16 euro pallets and more than two tonnes payload at 7.5-tonnes Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW). Its total cost of ownership is comparable to a diesel, with parity achieved at approximately 3,000 km or when 500 litres of diesel is consumed per month. Production of the Tevva Truck is due to commence in July 2022, with the truck manufacturer also producing a range of BEV and fuel cell REX models up to 19.5 tonnes for the UK, European, and Middle Eastern markets.

JAMES BOND'S ASTON MARTIN VOTED GREATEST FILM CAR - BEATING BACK TO THE FUTURE'S DELOREAN

James Bond’s Aston Martin has been named the greatest film car - beating the DeLorean from Back to the Future, and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. A study of 2,000 adults revealed Bond’s iconic DB5, which has featured in seven flicks to date, was the ultimate movie motor, with 27 percent of the vote. Herbie, the 1963 Volkswagen Beetle came in at number four, with another car from the Bond movie franchise, the Lotus Esprit S1, which featured in The Spy Who Loved Me, in fifth. The 1948 Ford Deluxe, more commonly known as "Greased Lightning", and the Minis from The Italian Job, also ranked highly in the top 40. The Batmobile, from Batman Begins, as well as Tim Burton’s portrayal of the vehicle in Batman and Batman Returns, were also firm favourites. The research was commissioned by Uber Eats, which will be delivering the KFC Zinger Popcorn Bucket in famous movie cars such as the Batmobile, the Aston Martin DB5 and the Ghostbusters car. Sunjiv Shah, general manager at Uber Eats, said: “It’s clear from our survey that most people would absolutely love to get their hands on one of these amazing motors to try them for themselves. “Many of them are cars you could only wish to see flying down the road, so it’s an amusing prospect that one of them could turn up in your street to deliver a KFC order.” It also emerged The Italian Job was seen as having the greatest car chase of all time, followed by Bullitt and The Fast and The Furious. The ultimate film car chase had to include near-misses, driving on the wrong side of the road, and lots of crashes. As a result, seven in ten film buffs see cars as an integral part of cinema history, according to the research, via OnePoll.

Christmas coming! Advertise with us! TALKING SPORTisWITH THE TRALEE ADVERTISER

with “The Voice” Pat Harnett

FAI NATIONAl P.R.O. OF THE YEAR COME OUT AND SUPPORT KERRY – THE 19’S SOCCER TEAM: There is no doubt what the biggest game in the county is this weekend. It is on Sunday in Mounthawk Park when Drogheda are the visitors for the SSE Airtricity Shield semi-final with a 2pm kick-off. All teams talk about momentum going into their most important games. And that is certainly what the Kerry 19’s side have. Coached by Billy Dennehy, James Sugrue and their back room staff the side are unbeaten in their last eight games (6 wins and 2 draws). Following their away and at home wins over Treaty United Kerry headed to the RSC in Waterford level on points with their hosts but behind on goal difference. So they knew they needed to win to secure a home semi-final. Despite going behind twice Kerry levelled through goals from Nathan Gleeson and Cianan Cooney and then Kian Clancy hit a memorable winner and so Kerry take on Drogheda, who beat Finn Harps to secure second spot, while Waterford are away to the Donegal side. This is a great opportunity to cheer on a Kerry side in a National semi-final so Mounthawk Park is the place to be on Sunday at 2pm. NO REF’S – NO GAMES: By now you will probably have read or seen on television that both the North Dublin Schoolboys League and the Metropolitan Girls League are not playing any games this weekend following the referees withdrawing their services due to the level of abuse some of their members have suffered in recent weeks. This is not just a soccer issue but one for all sports. It would be foolish to say it never happens in Kerry but thankfully serious verbal, or other types of abuse, is very rare. The vast majority of clubs and Leagues do not tolerate any forms of abuse and there are sanctions in the rules for breaches of these rules. Supporters must remember that all clubs are responsible for the behaviour of their supporters. No one at any sport in Kerry ever wants to see the contemplation by referees of them withdrawing their service not to mind actually doing that. Every fan that goes to a game is responsible for doing their bit to ensure this is the case. AT LEAST ONE TRALEE SIDE IN THE BIG FOOTBALL FINAL: In a piece after Austin Stacks winning the Club title we said that football in Tralee was enjoying a golden period. And following the semi-finals of the Garvey’s GAA Senior County Championship this has been proved to be the case once again. Most people are saying that the four teams remaining are the top four and two cracking semi-finals are whetting

28

Friday 12th November 2021

the appetite of all sports fans. The weekend of November 21st and 22nd will see St Brendan’s Board take on Austin Stacks and Kerins O’Rahillys will face Dr Crokes with one game on Saturday night and one on Sunday. It is a brave person that would predict who will come through to contest the final and take home the Bishop Moynihan Cup. So we will also stay on the fence and wish the Tralee sides all the best. AUSTIN STACKS JUVENILE NEWS: The underage section of the club were out in force to cheer on Wayne Warriors as the have progressed to the last four of the Championship. These wins are based on years of training and high quality coaching. There was a great atmosphere on the terrace last weekend and this will be the case again in the semi-final. This will be a cracking game against our 5 club neighbouring St Brendan’s Board. The u15 Lee Strand District Football Championship Cup and Shield finals take place in the Fitzgerald Stadium this Sunday, November 14th from 12 noon. In the Cup final the Stacks have 15 players on the Tralee Board squad that take on East Kerry at 1.45pm. All our juveniles are encouraged to keep practising their skills during the winter and be ready when the Academies return early in 2022. Club members and supporters are reminded that the fundraising Gala Race Night will take place on Friday November 26th – back after nearly two years. There are various ways of supporting the fundraiser starting with buying a horse for e20. Club officials have all the details. COLLEGE NEWS: The Mounthawk footballers defeated St Flannan’s of Ennis in the first round of the Munster Senior Colleges A football competition. Thety will now play Chriost Ri on November 17th in Tralee. The Green seniors defeated ISK in the Corn Ui Mhuiri and are now into the quarter finals. Tralee CBS take on Colaiste na Trocaire Rathkeale in the u19 competition while Mercy Mounthawk will take on Pallaskenry. In the u161/2 hurling competition Gaelcholaiste Chiarrai will take on Desmond College while Mercy Mounthawk were very unlucky to go down to Gaelcholaiste Luimnigh. PARNELLS NEWS: Club members are busy looking in the mirrors as they get ready to take part in the Debs and Evening Wear Fashion Show which takes place in the Ballyroe Heights Hotel on November 21st from 4.30pm. Tickets for the event are limited and all tickets bought before this Sunday midday will be entered into a draw for two tickets to the Ireland v Argentina

rugby game in the Aviva. All proceeds from the show are kindly being donated to Autism programmes at the club. AGM – The club AGM will take place this Sunday from 4 to 6pm in the sports hall at the Tralee Sports and Leisure Centre. All members are asked to attend. Social Hurling – boys from u9’s to u15’s meet up on Saturday mornings on the astro pitch of the MTU Sports Academy for an hour of social hurling. Games are supervised with u9’s to u11’s from 9am and u12’s to u15’s from 10am. Great win in cracking North Kerry u21 Championship semi-final: After a cracking game Parnells took the win 5-13 to Ballyheigue’s 2-18 after extra time. Darragh Reen led the scoring for the Tralee side who were well ahead at one stage but had to come from behind in extra time. Parnells led 3-05 to 0-04 points at half time but the game was tied 4-08 to 2-14 at the full time whistle. Again the extra time period swung each way and a 1-02 to no score burst saw Parnells take the win. They will now meet Crotta in the final.

O’Hanlon hit his fourth three of the night the gap was down to two points but foul trouble curtailed the Warriors offence as Maree took the win by six points 97-91. Top scorer for the Warriors were Nikolo Roso with 18, Aaron Calixte on 16 and Darragh O’Hanlon hitting 14. The Warriors are at home this Saturday night when Bright DCU Saints come to the Complex for a 7.30pm tip-off.

KERINS O’RAHILLYS NEWS: The whole club is buzzing following the progression of the seniors to the Championship semi-final. Things don’t get any easier in the last four when Dr Crokes will be the opposition but team is in great form and will certainly be up for the challenge and will be hoping to make it an all Tralee Senior Football Championship final. Santa is coming: In less than five weeks Santa will be making his much anticipated visit to the clubhouse. The Big Man will arrive at 2pmand places can now be booked via What’s App on 086 8173552. The underage season is nearly over with the u16 Girls putting in a great effort before going down to Dingle in the North Kerry League final.

RALLYING BACK TO THE DELIGHT OF COMPETITORS AND FANS: Well done to Clerk of the Course Sean Hegarty, the Kerry Motor Club officials and the huge number of volunteers who made sure the Banna Beach Resort Winter Season Rally went off without a hitch. The hunger for competitive rallying was shown by the fact the nearly 140 cars set out on the 3 loops of the two stages covering the maximum allow 90km. The podium was a multicounty one with the Monaghan / Limerick duo of Sam Moffett and Keith Moriarty taking a 36.6 second win in their Hyundai i20 R5 from Cavan’s Gary Kiernan and Darren O’Brien in the Ford Fiesta R5. They in turn were 7.8 seconds ahead of the Donegal pair Kevin Eves and Chris Melly in the Toyota Corolla. There were lots of great Kerry performances led by Killarney’s Colin O’Donoghue and co-driver John McElhinne whose Ford Escort had clutch trouble for the final two stages.

The senior ladies still have a few games to play starting with a game against Beale in Ballyrickard at 11am. There is a vacancy in the CE Scheme and interested candidates can apply to Dan Walsh Senior Committee on 087 9260988 or via email to walsh737@gmail.com Lotto- There was no winner of the Lotto from the numbers drawn 12,13,15 and 16 and the next jackpot will be e2500. COACH AND PLAYER OF THE MONTH AWARDS FOR WARRIORS: Having been unbeaten in their four games in October Garvey’s Tralee Warriors head coach John Dowling and player Aaron Calixte certainly were deserved recipients of the Basketball Ireland Coach and Player of the Month. Calixte averaged 25.5 points per game as Dowling led his charges to three InsureMyVan.ie SuperLeague wins and a first round InsureMyHouse.ie Pat Duffy National Cup win. However November started a little disappointingly with a 6 point away loss to NUIG Maree. The home side led 25-23 at the end of the first quarter. This was a see saw game that each time the Warriors went into a lead Maree pulled them back. The Warriors are getting some great work from their less experienced players-at this level. And when Stephen Fernane found time to plant his feet and drain the basket the Tralee side led 44-42 at the half. The Warriors went six up in the third quarter but again Maree fought back to lead 67-63 going into the final 10 minute quarter. When Darragh

U20’S OPEN WITH A DERBY WIN: The Warriors opened their u20 National League Southern Conference campaign with a 74-59 win over KCYMS Killorglin. The Killorglin side led by 4 at the end of the first quarter but by the half the Warriors were 4 in front 42-38. Led by James Ferrane on 31 points followed by Daniel Bowler on 18 and Jack Tobin with 15 the Warriors took the win. Their next game is home to Limerick Celtic’s on December 10th with Neptune and St Paul’s also in the Group. Cup opener: St Brendan’s u20’s will face KCYMS Killorglin in the first round of the Cup this Sunday night.

TRALEE MAN SHORT-LISTED FOR RIDER OF THE YEAR AWARD: Motor cycle racer Tralee’s Darragh Crean, winner of the Production Twin Class this season on his Suzuki SV, is on the 15 person Rider of the Year short list. Speaking to Kerrymotorsportnews. com Darragh said it was a great honour to be named on the list. “It is great to be selected and it means a lot. The fact that other local riders have also been selected shows how strong out sport is at the moment.” Superbike Cup champion Evan O’Grady and second placed in the Supersport Championship Andrew Murphy are the other two nominated riders. WINTER SERIES CONTINUES IN FENIT: Following a weekend off due to the weather Round 2 of The Turkey Series took place last Sunday with over 70 swimmers taking to the water at Fenit. The series continues every Sunday at 11am and newcomers are welcome. And of course every e2 get you another ticket to the draw for some Christmas goodies in the run up to the big swim on December 25th. CBS THE CHAMPIONS ! Congratulations to Tralee CBS who are BrotherTaft Cup champions after defeating St Flannans College 0-20 to 4.06

IN MEMORY THE MIRACLE PRAYER Dear Heart of Jesus in the past I have asked for many favours, this time I ask you this special one (mention favour). Take it dear Heart of Jesus and place it within your Heart where your Father sees it, then in his merciful eyes it will become your favour not mine. Amen. Say this prayer three times for three days and your favour will be granted. Never known to fail. Must promise publication of prayer. K.G.

THANKS GIVING Greatful thanks to our lord and our lady for my daughters clear results.
