The idea of the LIGATURA International Comic Culture Festival is to create a pioneer genre of comics’ festival in Europe. A festival which by its focus on the cultural and social function of comics will present all the most important initiatives, publishing houses and all the trends in the general reflection upon the tradition and the development of the comics art. The main goal of LIGATURA festival is to create an international event in Poland, which will attract publishers, artists, directors of diverse festivals as
well as activists in order to exchange experiences and create new contacts.
Apart from the goal to create a culture of professionalism of the activities connected with the promotion and artistic works in the field of comics LIGATURA through the integration of the majority of the central European comics initiatives, publishing houses and the best artists originating in this region has great opportunities to become a leader in the communication and transmission of activities between and among the central, western European and American comics artists.
LIGATURA is a festival, which represents the comics art in the culture through its promotion and introduction of new ambitious comics projects.

(1966 - Amsterdam) studied illustration and graphic arts at the Rietveld Academy for Art and Design in Amsterdam. Ever since graduating in 1991 he has been working as a free-lance illustrator and has also achieved (inter) national acclaim as a comics author for his ongoing ‘silent’ comicbook series Gutsman, stories centered around a faux-superhero and the troubled relationship with Tigra, his scantily clad girlfriend. In 2006, Gutsman was even brought to the stage as a ‘silent’ music-theatre piece, combining both dance and mime. In 2008 Kriek received the ‘Stripschapprijs’ for his entire oeuvre. Erik Kriek lives and works in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, together with his girlfriend, their son, their cat Pip and an ever expanding collection of toys…
Klimowski
Andrzej Graphic artist living and working in London. He is professor of illustration at the Royal College of Art in the department of Visual Communication. Klimowski studied painting at St Martins School of Art and graphics at the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts under professor Henryk Tomaszewski. He designs posters, book covers and editorial illustrations. His graphic novels include: The Depository, The Secret and Horace Dorlan ( published by Faber & Faber). Together with Danusia Schejbal he has adapted The Master and Margarita, Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde into comic books (published by Self Made Hero). His works can be found in many museum collections including The National Museum in Poznan.
Tim
Molloy
Tim Molloy is a 30 year old comic artist from New Zealand who is now living and working in Melbourne, Australia. He has been producing comics for almost two decades now with numerous self-published and obscure periodicals to his name. He has also been published in numerous magazines, collections, newspapers and telephone books. His main influences are the Surrealists and Symbolists, dreams, the Occult, and travel. For the later part of his ‘career’ he has specialized in the art of silent comics. He is currently working on a couple of new books that he hopes will take him over the fence from self-published unheard of comics loser to super celebrity comics God status! We all have to have dreams. When not making comic books, he fronts Scifidelic Pre-Apocalyptic Blues Pop band “PLAGUE DOCTOR”, and wrangles baboons.
