Building the Future of Homebuilding: Advocacy, Growth & Innovation

As we enter 2025, our focus is set on the future—on shaping an industry that is stronger, more innovative, and better positioned to meet the needs of our growing communities. The Home Builders Association is committed to advocating for policies that support homebuilders, investing in workforce development, and fostering opportunities for economic growth.

Advocacy: Strengthening Industry Connections

This year, we kicked off our advocacy efforts with our first Breakfast General Membership Meeting (GMM) at Broken Arrow Options Academy. This event marked an important milestone as we welcomed Broken Arrow High School into the HBA family, strengthening our commitment to workforce development and education. By engaging with students and educators, we are helping shape the future of the homebuilding industry, inspiring the next generation of skilled professionals.

Economic Outlook for 2025

In January, we had the privilege of hosting Dr. Robert Dietz, Chief Economist for the National Association of Home Builders, who provided an in-depth economic forecast for 2025. His insights into market trends, interest rates, and housing demand have given our members valuable perspectives as they plan for the year ahead. Understanding these economic factors is essential in helping

Smith’s Scoop

builders and industry professionals navigate the evolving landscape and seize new opportunities.

New Leadership at OKHBA

Leadership changes bring fresh perspectives and renewed energy, and 2025 marks a significant transition at the state level with new leadership at OKHBA. We look forward to collaborating with our state association to advocate for policies that support homebuilders, ensure regulatory improvements, and advance workforce initiatives. These changes set the stage for continued progress and industry growth across Oklahoma.

Looking Forward to a Great Parade of Homes

One of the most anticipated events of the year, the 2025 Parade of Homes, is just around the corner! This year’s show is expected to be bigger and better than ever, with nine subdivisions and more than 120 homes. One of the largest shows we have had in quite sometime.

A Year of Progress & Innovation

The future of homebuilding is bright, and the Home Builders Association is committed to making 2025 a year of progress and impact. Through advocacy, education, and collaboration, we are laying the foundation for a thriving industry that will support our communities for generations to come. Thank you to our members, partners, and supporters for joining us on this journey. Together, we are not just building homes—we are building the future.

Tulsa Housing Market Sees Significant Growth in January 2024 Housing Starts

The Tulsa housing market began 2024 on a strong note, with January housing starts reaching 467, marking a 39.2% increase compared to January 2023. This surge indicates the continued strength of the local housing market, demonstrating resilience and growth despite broader economic challenges.

The housing starts in January 2024 outpaced expectations and provided a solid foundation for what looks to be another year of robust activity in the Tulsa region. The 467 starts recorded in January represent a substantial leap from the 199 starts in January 2023, signaling heightened demand for both new homes and residential developments.

"This impressive growth in January’s housing starts is a clear indicator that Tulsa's housing market remains strong, with both builders and buyers actively participating in the local market,” said Jeffrey Smith, CEO of the Home Builders Association of Greater Tulsa. “The numbers reflect not only the resilience of the industry but also the growing confidence of residents and businesses in our community."

This early-year performance is a promising sign for the rest of 2024, building upon the momentum seen in 2023. Tulsa's growing population, thriving economy, and ongoing development projects contribute to a positive outlook for the housing market moving forward.

As we continue through 2024, the Home Builders Association of Greater Tulsa remains committed to supporting builders, remodelers, and associated professionals in meeting the needs of the community through education, resources, and advocacy.

A Night of Celebration: Tulsa HBA Welcomes Brian Rose as 2025 President

On the evening of December 6, 2024, the Tulsa Home Builders Association (HBA) gathered at the stunning OKPOP Museum in downtown Tulsa to celebrate the installation of Brian Rose as the 2025 HBA President. The annual Installation Gala, a highly anticipated event in the association’s calendar, brought together industry leaders, members, and supporters for a night of elegance and appreciation.

The OKPOP Museum, located across from the historic Cain’s Ballroom, was transformed into a dazzling spectacle of black, gold, and silver. Enormous ornaments and glowing trees adorned the venue, creating a festive and sophisticated atmosphere. Attendees, dressed in cocktail attire, were welcomed with a luxurious reception featuring cocktails at 6 p.m., followed by a delectable dinner at 7 p.m.

The evening was not just about welcoming new leadership but also about honoring those who dedicated their time to the association in 2024. Outgoing presidents Ed McIntyre (Associates), Cherlyn Reeves (Professional Women in Building), Dylan Nall (Lot 45), Greg Fuller (Remodelers), Jesse Powell (Builders & Developers), and 2024 Tulsa HBA President Craig Thurmond were all recognized for their hard work and commitment. Each of them sacrificed personal time to lead the association and contribute to its growth.

As Brian Rose took the stage to address the audience, he shared his vision for the future of the Tulsa HBA. One of his primary goals for 2025 is to re-engage past presidents and leaders, ensuring that their legacy and experience continue to shape the organization. Additionally, he voiced his strong support for new leadership programs that will build upon the solid foundation laid by past and present members.

With an evening filled with camaraderie, celebration, and a shared commitment to the home building industry, the Installation Gala once again showcased the strength and unity of the Tulsa HBA. As the association embarks on a new year under Brian Rose’s leadership, members look forward to continued success, growth, and innovation.

Tulsa HBA Kicks Off First Morning Mixer with Grand Opening of Broken Arrow Construction Lab

Tulsa HBA Kicks Off First Morning Mixer with Grand Opening of Broken Arrow Construction Lab

The Tulsa Home Builders Association (HBA) made history on Tuesday morning, hosting its first-ever General Membership Mixer in the morning hours. This special gathering, held at 8 a.m. at Broken Arrow Options Academy, wasn’t just about networking— it was a celebration of progress in workforce development.

The highlight of the event was the Grand Opening of the Broken Arrow Construction Lab, an initiative designed to equip students with hands-on experience in the building industry. Attendees had the unique opportunity to tour the new facility, engage with students actively using the space, and see firsthand the impact this investment is making on the next generation of skilled professionals.

Adding to the significance of the morning, Lt. Gov. Matt Pinnell and members of the Broken Arrow City Council were in attendance, showing their support for the program and reinforcing the importance of trades education in Oklahoma. Their presence underscored the collaboration between industry leaders, educators,

and government officials in strengthening the construction workforce pipeline.

This milestone event was made possible by the generous support of sponsors, whose contributions helped bring the vision of the Broken Arrow Construction Lab to life. The Tulsa HBA extends a special thank you to:

Elevate Realty

Bank of Oklahoma Mortgage

AEP/PSO

Lacy Davenport Agency – Farmers Insurance

The morning was not just a networking success but also a powerful reminder of how industry partnerships can shape the future of homebuilding and skilled trades in our community. With a strong start to the year, the Tulsa HBA looks forward to continuing its mission of empowering the success of its members and the next generation of builders.
