President’s Report

A Season of Growth and Opportunity

As we move through the heart of summer, I’m reminded of the incredible resilience, dedication, and community spirit that define the Home Builders Association of Greater Tulsa. The July-August months mark a particularly exciting time for our association as we reflect on our achievements and gear up for the opportunities ahead.

This summer has already brought us some memorable moments. One of the highlights was the annual HBA/ MeadowBrook Golf Tournament. It was a fantastic event that brought members together for a day of fun, networking, and friendly competition. Congratulations again to our winners—the Huber Engineered Woods team for taking first place, with Hahn Appliance and Brian D. Wiggs Construction following closely in second and third. The camaraderie displayed during the event is just one of the many reasons our HBA family continues to thrive.

Additionally, I want to take a moment to recognize the tireless work of Beth Byrd and the entire Parade of Homes committee. Their dedication ensured another successful showcase of our community's finest homes. This event not only highlights the craftsmanship of our members but also allows us to connect with the greater Tulsa community in meaningful ways.

Our Government Action Committee has been hard at work leading up to the August primary and runoff elections. These elections hold significant importance for the home-building industry, and the committee is dedicated to ensuring that our members' voices are heard. The Tulsa HBA is proud to offer recommendations that will be featured in a voter’s guide, helping you make informed decisions at the polls. Your participation in this process is crucial to securing a future that supports our industry and the broader community we serve.

In addition to workforce development, our focus on legislative advocacy continues. With the 2024 election season in full swing, our ongoing collaboration with local, state, and national lawmakers remains critical. We are committed to protecting the interests of our members and the communities we serve through proactive policy engagement.

As always, I am immensely proud of the way our members uphold the core values of the Tulsa HBA— integrity, community, and impact. It’s not just about building homes; it’s about building a better future for Tulsa. Our members continue to step up in times of need through volunteer efforts, charitable work, or simply providing quality housing solutions to families in our region.

In closing, I want to thank each and every one of you for your continued support, passion, and dedication. Together, we are shaping the future of housing in Tulsa, and I couldn’t be more excited about the road ahead.

Enjoy the rest of your summer, stay safe, and let’s keep building greatness—together.

While the summer may be drawing to a close, the work of our association is far from over. We have several key initiatives on the horizon. First, we continue expanding our workforce development efforts, particularly through the Build My Future program. By fostering the next generation of builders, remodelers, and tradespeople, we are ensuring the longevity and health of the homebuilding industry in Tulsa. The Tulsa Build My Future will be October 30, 2024, and the Claremore Build My Future is in the works.

Warm regards,

Craig Thurmond

Building Stronger Communities through Integrity, Community, and Impact

At the Home Builders Association (HBA) of Greater Tulsa, our commitment goes beyond constructing homes. It’s about laying the foundation for a stronger community—one where trust, support, and empowerment thrive. Our three core values— Integrity, Community, and Impact—are the pillars that guide our mission and every interaction we have, both internally with our members and externally with the community.

Integrity: Building with Trust and Transparency

In our industry, integrity is non-negotiable. At the HBA, we believe that every home built and every project completed should reflect the highest standards of honesty and craftsmanship. Our members are dedicated professionals who take pride in their work, ensuring that every promise made is a promise kept. This commitment to integrity not only builds trust with clients but also elevates the reputation of our association as a whole.

When you work with an HBA member, you can be confident that you’re working with someone who values transparency and accountability— qualities that are essential for successful, long-term partnerships. Whether it's a large-scale construction project or a simple remodel, integrity is the cornerstone that ensures our work stands the test of time.

Community: Supporting and Strengthening Together

Our role within the community extends far beyond building homes. We are dedicated to supporting the people and organizations that make Tulsa and its surrounding areas such a vibrant place to live and work. The HBA actively engages in community projects, charitable endeavors, and partnerships that

Smith’s Scoop

uplift and improve the quality of life for all residents.

By fostering connections and providing valuable resources, we help strengthen our community from within. Whether it's offering educational workshops, advocating for housing policies, or contributing to local causes, the HBA is committed to being a positive force for change. Together, we build more than houses—we build community.

Impact: Empowering Through Education and Connection

We believe in the power of connection and education to create lasting impact. At the HBA, we empower our members to succeed by offering a culture rich in learning opportunities and networking. Through various programs, events, and resources, we ensure that our members stay ahead of industry trends, best practices, and innovations.

This culture of continuous improvement benefits not only our members but also the clients and communities they serve. By empowering our members to be the best in their field, we create a ripple effect of positive impact throughout the housing industry and beyond. Our focus on education and connection ensures that the HBA remains a hub of professional growth and innovation.

Conclusion: A Commitment to Excellence

At the heart of the HBA of Greater Tulsa are our core values of Integrity, Community, and Impact. These values are more than just words—they are the principles that shape our actions and define who we are as an association. By staying true to these values, we continue to build not just homes, but a brighter, stronger future for everyone we serve.

Together, with our members and the community, we are building something truly lasting—a legacy of trust, support, and empowerment that will endure for generations to come.

That's the Scoop,
