Sylvester Chief Financial OfficerA LETTER FROM OUR CEO
At Turner Industries, we provide turnkey industrial services and solutions to the companies that fuel our lives, energize our planet, and build the materials we rely on to make modern life possible. But our success isn’t solely defined by the work we perform on a jobsite. We actively invest in the social, economic, and environmental well-being of our workplaces and communities. We provide solutions to help fuel our industry, yes, but we’re also dedicated to operating with integrity and contributing to the greater good. That means safety, workforce development, sustainability, and community investment are just as important as the next project we undertake.
Last year, Turner employees worked more than 40 million hours, prioritizing safety above all else. We continue to invest in our people, providing a springboard for fulfilling careers and attracting the best talent. And we’re serious about sustainability – it’s not just a buzzword. We’re supporting clients’ sustainability initiatives as well as adding to our own.
We will continue to nurture our people, embrace innovation, and invest in the communities where we live and work. It’s about building a future where operational success and corporate responsibility work in tandem, just like the late Bert Turner envisioned over 60 years ago. That’s the Turner legacy, and it’s one we’re proud to carry forward.
Stephen M. Toups, CEOTURNER TIMELINE
A young engineer named Bert Turner buys Nichols Construction Company out of bankruptcy. The company specializes in industrial construction, heavy equipment, hauling, and rigging and equipment rental. It doesn’t take Turner long to realize that the industrial construction industry is a series of peaks and valleys. So, he begins to take steps to ensure a steady stream of revenue, embarking on industrial contract maintenance and other services that fulfill the needs of Turner’s clients. In 1968, Turner hires Roland Toups, who currently serves as executive chairman.
196 0s 1980s 2000s 1970s
Mr. Turner begins to acquire companies and add additional services like scaffolding, as well as continually expanding the equipment fleet and buying bigger cranes. These moves provide the company with opportunities to manage and control most of the elements that make up construction, maintenance, and turnaround work.
The Turner group enters the fabrication business, forming International Piping Systems, and introduces a pipe bending process that revolutionizes the pipe fabrication business in the United States. The company participates in many of the large industrial construction projects being built in the Gulf South at the time.
1990s 2010s
Industrial specialty services, such as NDE and inspection services, specialized welding, and environmental remediation are added to fill client needs as they arise. Proprietary programs are developed internally to better track and manage work.
The early companies are consolidated into one entity—Turner Industries Group—with four main business lines: Construction; Maintenance and Turnarounds; Pipe and Module Fabrication; and Equipment and Specialty Services. Five fabrication facilities located across the Gulf South make Turner one of the leading pipe fabricators in the United States.
A focus at Turner this decade is digitizing the wealth of data generated by our employees and at our clients’ jobsites to make data-driven decisions that reduce costs, save time and improve safety metrics. Our everevolving DECIDE WITH DATA® software and services portfolio offers a digital “toolbox” that can solve critical client productivity, reliability, and safety issues. The company begins building “one-stop” hiring and training facilities and opens new regional offices in Geismar and Hahnville, Louisiana; Pensacola, Florida; and Freeport, Texas.

Safety
In 2023, our employees worked more than 40 million hours at over 420 jobsites with a TRIR of 0.25. Although 2023 had its challenges, we were still able to build on existing safety initiatives as well as launch new programs that support mental and physical health.
Our employees are truly our most valuable asset, and any success we achieve in terms of safety is only possible due to their diligence and commitment. As we move forward, we understand that continued training, open communication, and a “one team” mindset will get us closer to our ultimate goal of zero incident performance. At Turner, we don’t choose between success and safety; we achieve them together.

The Safety Pulse Report marks a groundbreaking transformation in our safety approach. This comprehensive, real-time dashboard delivers standardized safety metrics across all jobsites. Leadership now has a clear pulse on current safety performance, enabling data-driven decisions and proactive risk management.

SAFETY TRAINING DASHBOARD
The Safety Training Dashboard gives Turner’s safety department and operations insight into the overall safety training picture. Users can easily see where employee safety training is up-to-date and where training may be needed. Through various screens and filters, users can view different categories of training. They can also view training by division, jobsite, job number, or even individual employee.
Turner Industries administers almost one million safety tests each year. The dashboard is a game changer when it comes to keeping up with training. It highlights current and upcoming expirations, giving sites the tools they need to stay ahead of the training curve .

STOP WORK AUTHORITY
At Turner Industries, all employees have the authority to suspend a work task or group operation when it’s perceived as unsafe in any way. The “Stop Work Authority” program stands as a fundamental safety initiative and is a core value embraced by Turner employees. The program continues to gain momentum and has received positive feedback and accolades from many clients.
STOP WORK AUTHORITY

In 2023, Turner employees exercised Stop Work Authority in 8,528 instances, a 21% increase from the previous year.

MODULE CONSTRUCTION FOR SUSTAINABLE POLYSTYRENE RECYCLING
In collaboration with Agilyx and Toyo Styrene, Turner Industries constructed a module that is helping to make polystyrene recycling more sustainable. Turner’s modular fabrication crew in Port Allen, Louisiana only had nine weeks to receive materials; install the steel, pipe, and electrical and instrumentation; perform required testing; and develop an efficient plan for disassembly and shipment overseas.
WIND BLADE RACK FABRICATION PROJECT
In 2023, Turner Industries fabricated four pairs of wind turbine installation modules, which were then delivered via barge to the Northeast. This was a major fabrication project at Turner’s New Iberia, Louisiana module fabrication yard. By project’s end, Turner had fabricated and assembled eight wind blade racks made of structural steel, including four doubletower blade “tip racks” weighing 98 metric tons apiece and four single-tower “root racks” weighing 78 metric tons apiece.
SOLUGEN’S CARBON-NEGATIVE MOLECULE FACTORY
Solugen specializes in the production of sustainable chemicals using bio-based manufacturing methods, and its proprietary technology platform combines biology and chemistry to produce high-performance chemicals from plant sugars. In 2021, Solugen opened the world’s first carbon-negative molecule factory in Houston, and Turner Industries started working at the site the following year.
