What It Takes to Get the Job Done Right
Turner Industries’ ONE Solution Approach Earns High Praise from Arkema
Turner Industries recently applied its ONE Solution approach to successfully complete work for the Arkema Beaumont, Texas production plant’s expansion project.
The 12-month project encompassed a wide scope of work, including site preparation, piling installation, foundation construction, underground firewater systems, equipment setting, and tower internals installation.
By leveraging the expertise of multiple Turner divisions and groups, the project was executed with precision and efficiency, and the Turner team’s commitment to safety resulted in a zero-incident record. The Arkema expansion is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2025.
“Turner Industries has assembled a ‘top grade’ personnel team that delivered ‘high level craftsmanship’ and ‘set the bar’ for safety performance,” said Rich Torres, senior construction manager for Arkema. “This group is the definition of ‘112%,’ and I’m grateful for the opportunity to work with them.”

Turner Industries Reaches Milestone on Shel l ’s BlueCAT Project
Turner Industries’ Construction Division has reached a major milestone on the BlueCAT project at the Shell Catalyst s and Technologies plant in Port Allen, Louisiana. After months of module assembly, the team is beginning to set its first modules on the project. These modules make up almost the entire expansion at the BlueCAT site and will further advance Shell’s environmental and production capacity goals.
The high-performance catalysts produced at the Port Allen facility are used to generate a less energy-intensive refining process and to manufacture biofuels and sustainable aviation fuel, among other products. The existing plant is the world’s largest refining catalyst plant , and this expansion will allow the facility to increase manufacturing capacity.
“Turner and Shell have collaborated to develop an extremely strong BlueCAT execution team with a safety culture that is second to none. Assembling vertical modules in the horizontal position is already challenging, but modifying beams and connections after modules have been fully assembled adds a new layer of complexity that the Turner team met with a positive outlook. Stepping up to these challenges and continuing to execute with a flawless safety record gives us the confidence that this team will continue to perform at the high standard that they have set.” -
Shell Construction Manager Kevin Braud
The project centers around the fabrication of 16 modules, set between elements of preand post- module stick built components. A unique element of this project is that, because of their height and the transport route into the plant, all but two of these modules are being assembled in the horizontal direction. They are then lifted vertically, in much the same way towers and vessels are raised in the vertical position. Designing, assembling, and securing modules to be erected vertically is extremely difficult and deserves recognition!

“I could not be happier with our decision to partner with Turner for construction of the BlueCAT project. They truly perform as a partner in all aspects of their execution: excellent safety performance, quality, efficient work, and collaboration on issue resolution to name a few. Turner has worked with Shell on other projects prior to this, and I continue to be impressed with the ownership and professionalism of their entire organization. I look forward to finishing this project strong together, and I hope to have the opportunity to work with this group again.” - Shell Project Manager Geno Tolari

Initial Fin Fan Replacement Project Completed at Cheniere’s
Sabine Pass LNG Facility
Turner Industries’ mechanical, SIPA, and SWS groups recently completed a fin fan replacement project on the first of six trains at Cheniere’s Sabine Pass LNG export facility in Cameron, Louisiana.
The initial replacement project was completed without a single OSHA-recordable incident. It is part of a larger, 18-month project that involves replacing approximately 1,200 fans across the facility’s six trains. Fin fans in an LNG facility cool down hot gases such as propane by blowing air over them, helping to turn the gas into liquid form.
With approximately 70 Turner employees working day and night shifts, the project was completed on time and within budget. This project showcases Turner’s ability to perform work at LNG facilities safely and efficiently.
“Our success on this project reflects the hard work and collaboration between not only our teams but Cheniere’s teams as well,” said Alan King, a vice president of maintenance and turnarounds for Turner Industries.
“We appreciate Turner’s work in helping us advance the installation of these fin fans at our SPL site,” said Cheniere SVP of Operations Maas Hinz. “Over the past year, our team worked closely with Chart Industries to develop this fan model, which we believe will help us maintain our competitive edge in the LNG industry. This is a technology developed and manufactured in Texas, and we are proud to have Turner, a company
“We’re proud to partner with Cheniere and Turner Industries to help optimize Sabine Pass production,” said Chart CEO and President Jill Evanko. “We look forward to continuing our partnership of new and

Turner, OQ Chemicals Showcase Teamwork in Feed Outage
Turner Industries and OQ Chemicals teamed up during a recent feed outage, which was to satisfy the safety interlock systems and perform other minor maintenance and preventive maintenance work. The outage began on July 21, 2024 and was turned over to operations on July 26, 2024. The Turner and OQ Chemicals maintenance teams showed outstanding coordination and teamwork in completing the work. Heat safety was mitigated by Turner’s maintenance team who had built a cool-down shack to help with the hot and humid days during this outage. All work was completed in six days with zero injuries. Maintenance turned over all equipment to operations on time. Operations started the unit on schedule and was successful with on-spec product in a timely manner.
Keeping the Wheels Turning at Bridgestone’s Tennessee Operations
Turner Industries has been making significant strides at Bridgestone’s La Vergne, Tennessee facility since establishing its presence in early 2022. What began as a small team handling miscellaneous tasks has grown into a vital partnership, with Turner now responsible for all daily contract maintenance at the site.
Today, Turner’s on-site team has grown to 41 employees, primarily operating as a preventive maintenance team. One of Turner’s most significant achievements has been earning Bridgestone’s trust to handle work orders in critical areas.
“We now have two planners that work directly with Bridgestone and handle work orders in the mixing and extrusion departments through Bridgestone’s PM system,” said Donny Snow, site manager for Turner Industries at the Bridgestone facility.
Turner Industries has also taken on major projects at the facility. “One of our largest projects was replacing two bucket elevators, crucial components that hadn’t been changed out in 25 years,” Snow said. “Both towers were over 100 feet in the air, requiring multiple components and weeks of preparation. This project was completed safely and ahead of schedule.”
Safety remains the No.1 priority for Turner at the Bridgestone facility. Since beginning operations, the team has logged 108,304 workhours with a TRIR of 0.00, with only one first-aid incident reported.
Turner continues to work closely with Bridgestone to ensure the facility’s success. Employees take initiative during downtime to inspect machinery, identify potential issues, and suggest improvements. This proactive approach, combined with Turner’s commitment to safety and innovation, has earned high praise from Bridgestone.
CONNECTING THE DOTS
TSS Dock Connecting Crew Ensures Safe Product Transfers for ExxonMobil in Baton Rouge
TSS’ dock connecting crew at the ExxonMobil facility in Baton Rouge, Louisiana plays a crucial role in ensuring the transfer of products between ships or barges and storage tanks is executed with precision and care.
The dock connecting crew is tasked with a range of responsibilities that require the transfer of various liquid products. Once the initial connections are made, the role of the crew evolves. The process of transferring products is overseen by the person in charge, who coordinates closely with the dock controller, multiple product controllers, and the vessel’s chief mate or the barge’s tankerman. This collaboration ensures that all necessary valves are correctly opened and closed, safeguarding the environment and ensuring an efficient transfer process.
A Multitude of Products, A Team of Experts
The docks managed by TSS handle a range of products—approximately 40 different types. These include various fuels (jet fuels, gasoline grades, diesel fuels, and heating oil fuels), different grades of oils (crude oils, light cycle crude oil, pyrolysis gasoline, and light kerosene gas oil), as well as lube products, caustics, and coker feed. The ability to handle such a diverse portfolio requires a team with a deep understanding of both the products and the equipment used in their transfer.
A Dedicated Team for 24 / 7 Operations
The operation of the dock crew is supported by a team of 24 personnel, providing round-the-clock coverage throughout the year. The dock connecting crew has maintained an exceptional safety record with zero recordable injuries, spanning more than 13 years. In recognition of this commitment to safety, the dock crew received the 2022 and 2023 ExxonMobil Silver Award for outstanding safety achievement.

REMOTE HIRING: FROM APPLICATION TO JOBSITE IN RECORD TIME
Stepping beyond office walls, Turner Industries’ remote hiring process is now more efficient and user friendly than ever before. One of the key benefits of Turner’s remote hiring is that it removes the need for new hires to make trips to central offices to complete paperwork. This cuts down on inefficient “zigzagging” and ensures workers can get to their jobsites much more quickly.
Turner has also optimized the remote hiring process for rehires. Because the company’s custom-built system saves key information, returning employees can complete the necessary steps easily. This leads to a faster, more efficient “reboarding” experience.
Additionally, Turner’s remote hiring process is integrated with its craft testing database, ensuring that candidates’ certifications and credentials are instantly accessible. This system benefits both Turner and its clients by reducing onboarding time, allowing new workers to get to work faster.
Turner’s streamlined remote hiring process is more than a convenience; it’s a strategic advantage that accelerates project timelines and employees alike.
