i guys! Welcome to the last issue of 2014 – I cann believe how quickly another year has flown. It alw feels strange talking about Christmas and New Year wh we’re still in November. Writing this, I can’t help b turn my thoughts to what we have acheived during past year as well as the changes in both our person and professional lives.

It’s been a phenomenal year for us with that has come a lot more overse travel and commitments which ultima means being away from our families Again, with the festive period upon the ties of family and friends feel stron and it’s one of our favourite times of year as Nic and I try to take things a l slower. Mum’s house has always been a hub on Christm day with our brothers Jim and John, Tanya of course, partners and other family members. And it’s getting b every year with tiny feet running around the table! a time that we’re truly thankful for.

We want to thank you for your support during year but especially all of the amazing creatives that h submitted their work to TWO and our fantastic regu contributors. We wish all of you a wonderful Christm with health and happiness for the new year.

What was your route into make-up?

I am a self taught make-up artist. I studied fine art, painting, sculpture and illustration. I originally wanted to illustrate children’s picture books, very much still a passion of mine! I definitely think my art school background gives me a creative edge and I approach my work more as an artist.

I absolutely believe a good make-up artist should be able to paint.

How do you feel the industry has changed since you first started?

There is now an over saturation of people wanting to work within most creative industries, and it’s very competitive. Overuse of Photoshop and App filters can have a diluting effect on the finished impact of an image… There are a lot of voices out there shouting to be heard, this is evident within the rise of social media and worldwide accessibility.

This industry is evolving fast – as are many other industries. I’m not sure where it’s going.

As an in-demand artist in the industry, how do you find time to relax?

I have a daughter and I like to spend time with her. She likes to make cartoonish costumes for Comic-cons in her spare time and make short films so I enjoy helping out with that.

GLAMOUR EYES Like always with a big make-up look I start on the eyes to keep the rest of the skin clean: – Apply a base coat of By Terry Ombre Blackstar eyeshadow pencil in Bronze Moon right across the lid and blend until seamless. This is the perfect eye base and gives a greater intensity to the eyeshadows.

WAY TO SPICE NTER FESTIVE THAN A BIT OF HERE’S SIMPLY OOK TO HRISTMAS

– To create a beautiful, exaggerated 70s eye shade in the outer crease, use Nars Fez eyeshadow with a tapered soft brush in a cat eye shape.

Don’t be afraid to take it slightly higher than the crease as you want it to be visible. Blend the edges with a completely clean brush.

– Add a dash of Bobbi Brown Black Cocoa eyeshadow just in the outer corners of the eye to intensify the gorgeous bronzey tones.

–P at Stila Jewel eyeshadow colour in Citrine on the lid and lightly blend the edges of the colours to add the disco eye-pop. The pigment on the jewel eyeshadows are intense so it is best to lightly pat instead of brushing on.

– Using your favourite black kohl pencil, line the inside and outer edges of the eyes and blend.

Smudge outwards to carry on the feline shape.

– With a smudging brush, add on a bit of NARS Fez and Bobbi Brown Black Cocoa eyeshadows on top of the pencil to add depth around the eyes.

– L oad the lashes with at least two coats of mascara. Try Rimmel Scandal’Eyes mascara for big volume lashes.

– Adding a false lash is a must for any festive eye look. My pick is the Model Rock Lashes in Kit Ready #420 and the winged out edge looks perfect on this eye.

70s FRESH SKIN – Clean off any excess make-up around the eyes and apply moisturiser to the skin. To create a beautiful disco shimmery skin add Becca Illuminating Skin Perfector in Pearl to the cheekbones, forehead and the nose bridge. This primer gives the most heavenly glow!

– For a foundation that stays on all night long, try the incredible stick foundation by Japanese brand, RMK. Stripe on and blend with a brush or fingers and apply in more concentrated areas under the eyes and on the cheeks where needed.

– Brush on some colour for bronzing and sculpting under the cheekbones but bring up towards the cheeks for more colour.

One of my favourites is the Tom Ford Bronzing Powder.

– Add a tiny touch more of the Becca Illuminator and tap onto the cheekbones for extra pop.

DISCO LIPS You can’t turn back now, you’ve gotta’ go full throttle on the smacker now to really ramp this look up to a modern 70s speed!

– Choose either a deep berry or red shade to compliment this look.

My choice would be either Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipstick in Grand Cru or Hot Pepper to make this look sexy 70s chic.

These liquid lipstick stains glide on super easily and build to the strength you want.

– A final touch of lipgloss would definitely complete this look.

ising from modest working class roots as the son of a London cabbie, Lee Alexander McQueen became head designer at one of the biggest fashion houses in the world and one of the most celebrated figures in fashion.

Named British designer of the year (four times!), McQueen started his own fashion line in 2004 opening stores in New York, Milan, London and Los Angeles.

four years later and following the success of his low-waisted ‘bumster’ design, he was appointed Chief Designer at Givenchy.

Often outspoken on his background and the fact that he did not fit the conventional mold of a ‘good looking’ fashion designer, McQueen wowed the world with his bold styles and extravagantly creative shows. A series of tragic events, notably the deaths of close friend Isabella Blow in 2008 and his mother in 2010 led him to take his own life at the age of just 40.

In 2015, an exhibition, Savage Beauty, will honour the legendary designer’s life and work. The show will combine Alexander McQueen storytelling, theatre, film and music and showcase more than 200 pieces, After ‘dropping out’ of high school at making it the largest collection of his 16 he found work on London’s famous work to date.
