In Part I of this two part review, I covered the Crimson Trace CMR-208 and CMR-209 both excellent lights for use on any rail equipped platform but best suited for the accessory rail on your pistol; however, if you’re needing a light for your long gun, CTC offers tactical lights that can only be described as homeruns for your gun, they’re the CWL-102 and CWL-202.

Everything that you need is provided including hex wrenches, a true statement for the CWL202 as well. Activation method comes in two flavors, tail cap or long gun tape switch.

I took the strap route because I don’t like sticking anything to my handguard that I’m going to end up scraping off at a later date. The CWL-202 has a High Momentary and Constant mode of operation but I wish it had a high/low feature - not a show stopper for me. Lastly, both CWL-102 and CWL-202 can be used as handheld lights by simply removing the mounting hardware.

The light is constructed of anodized aluminum and is 1 meter drop resistant. The CWL-102 is O-ring sealed at the battery compartment and bezel providing waterproof performance to 1 meter.

With a street price of under $60 for the CWL102 and under $100 for the CWL-202 , Crimson Trace has made it very easy to illuminate your life.

The CWL-102 is a mere 4 inches long and weighs in at 3.9 oz. Its light weight and physical footprint makes this light the ideal illumination accessory for the AR pistol platform
