At this year’s Shot Show, MEOPTA Sport Optics introduced three new magnified optics. Among the three is the MEOSPORT R 3-15X50 RD SFP the subject of my review. MEOPTA markets the MEOSPORT as an entry level optic, but speaking candidly the only thing that’s entry level about it is its $449.99 M.S.R.P. This scope checks a lot of boxes for me, but where do I begin. MEOPTA has done something magical with its optics. The company uses MeoBright, a proprietary lens coating that enhances light transmission and image contrast. The optical performance of the MEOSPORT has been described as being close to the Kahles or Schmidt & Bender optic, clearly subjective, but I will attest to its outstanding image clarity, sharpness, and detail. The MEOSPORT is built on a 30mm tube indexed along its longitudinal axis, which when used in conjunction with the included indexed scope ring, ensures that your reticle is completely level without the need

for specialized scope leveling tools. Easily align the tube’s index with the ring’s index mark and you’ve just perfectly leveled your scope’s reticle.

MEOPTA went the extra mile to provide highend features in an entry level optic when they included exposed zero-resettable wind and elevation turrets that lock. Adjusting wind and elevation is a snap, simply pull up on the turret cap and rotate it in the appropriate direction. I was also impressed by the turret tactile; it was a positive feel as well as audible. As one would expect from an EU scope, the turrets are calibrated in 0.1mil per click with a total adjustment range of 26.2 mils.

MEOPTA’S MEOSPORT R 3-15X50 RD SFP Other upscale features are its illuminated reticle and side parallax adjustment knob for a sharp focus from 10 yards to infinity.

Collocated with the parallax adjustment knob is the illuminated reticle brightness control and battery compartment. The shooter has an option of 11 brightness settings with an off position between settings, 1 through 6 are for night vision and 7 through 11 are low light / daylight settings. The MEOSPORT features a Second Focal Plane 4C reticle, a duplex floating dot design. In reviewing the scope, I found that the floating red dot, particularly at the lower magnification levels, offered the same optical benefits as a red dot sight, and ceteris paribus, increased the speed of target acquisition and engagement, particularly under low light conditions.

I haven’t run across many entry level rifle scopes that are as robust as the MEOPSPORT, and I would not hesitate to mount this scope on a magnum platform. The MEOSPORT is nitrogen purged, shockproof, and fully sealed so fogging or moisture is not an issue. Everything on the scope operates smoothly be it wind and elevation turrets, parallax adjustment, illumination, and the magnification ring; there’s no binding or slop that I was able to detect. A truly impressive offering from a highly reputable EU manufacturer. The only issue I encountered during my review was in mounting the optic to the weapon rail. The rings that ship with the MEOSPORT are excellent, but MEOPTA uses dual torx head screws for the ring base, so you’ll want to limit torquing on the base fasteners to 25-30 inchpounds, or risk damaging the screw head, and the ring caps require 17 – 22 inch-pounds.

At the range, the MEOSPORT R performed brilliantly. This is the easiest optic to zero that I’ve had an opportunity to review. I sent two rounds downrange, dialed in my corrections and it was a done deal for the next 6 rounds. Copyright 2022, Twobirds Flying Publications, All Rights Reserved
