As tactical lighting products get brighter and brighter, it’s nice to have a light that you can use at night, or in low light conditions, to do things like read maps, navigate through darkness or clean weapons. Streamlight’s Sidewinder Boot fills that need with a handsfree right angle light.

secured via a flat head fastener making the BOOT IPX7 water resistant (1 meter for 30 min.). The cap is readily loosened or tightened with a round or any pocket tool.
Properly orienting batteries is always a pain in the neck, especially in the dark, so Streamlight included polarity indicators as part of the BOOT’s housing

Manufacturer Specifications
The 185° articulating head houses the white L.E.D. and an integrated slide–in-place red filter to preserve your night vision. I particularly liked the integrated filter implementation eliminating the risk that you’ll misplace it. The BOOT offers two modes of operation; high or low accessible by pressing and holding the activation push button on its head. On high, you’ll have access to a 55 lumen beam with a runtime of approximately 8 hours depending on power source and temperature. On low, the BOOT provides a very comfortable 7 lumens and a runtime of approximately 90 hours. I found the low setting to be an excellent mode for map reading or any type of administrative task. Streamlight has done an excellent job in producing a flexible, durable and easy to use task light that can be belt mounted, helmet mounted or on all sorts of MOLLE equipped load bearing equipment. You can even run some paracord through the included holes provided to create a lanyard. This is a lighting tool that should be in your kit, or household emergency supplies, and it’s widely available at a $25 to $38 price point. -SP
