Vortex® product in the event it becomes damaged or defective—at no charge to you. If they cannot repair your product, they will replace it with a product in perfect working order of equal or better physical condition.” At the heart of the Strike Eagle 1-28X24 FFP is the EBR8 MOA reticle.

March 2022, saw Vortex Optics announced a new LPVO (Low Powered Variable Optic), the STRIKE EAGLE 1-8X24 FFP. For the AR shooter, the LPVO’s 1X magnification setting meets the need for rapid target engagement during close contact, and the higher variable magnification settings increases accuracy against point contacts at longer ranges. It’s irrefutable that the LPVO has extended the effective range of the AR platform and transformed it into a precision semiautomatic rifle. The Vortex Optics Strike Eagle 1-8X24 FFP MOA was tasked with precisely that role. Vortex Optics requires no introduction, but I’ll mention that they are headquartered in Wisconsin, American owned, Veteran owned, and Family owned. They have established a national reputation for excellent optics and their VIP Warranty. “VIP stands for a Very Important Promise to you, our customer. They will repair or replace your

The Strike Eagle is designed to be zeroed and shot using the holdovers provided by the reticle for the applicable target range. Since this is a First Focal Plane (FFP) optic the reticle MOA subtensions are correct at all magnification levels. The EBR8 provides range and wind holds for ranges out to 600 yards.

I found the EBR8 reticle to be instinctive to use with excellent illumination. I’ve never understood criticisms “that reticle illumination is inadequate in bright light.” The EBR8, without illumination, performed extremely well in bright

light; all subtensions as well as the center dot were clearly visible; against a dark target where illumination was necessary illumination was excellent.

Vortex designed the reticle, so it provides wind and holdover data; along with a ranging reticle conveniently located in the upper half of the optics’ expansive field of view. On the aggregate, the EBR8 reticle is extremely fast: you range your target, determine proper holdover at the target range and send it.

at 50 or 200 yards, you have a fine enough adjustment to get you a precise zero.

The turrets provide 25 MOA of adjustment per rotation and a total of 145 MOA travel. Once your zero, the turrets knobs are restabled to zero. They’re also capped.

Another feature that I like a great deal is the German 4 style reticle. At lower magnifications that feature makes for very quick and reasonably accurate engagement, even if you can’t find the center dot, the German 4 reticle will get you on target. Wind corrections are equally fast, the first horizontal dot is the correct hold for a 5-m.p.h. wind at the indicated range, the second dot is the correct hold for a 10-m.p.h. wind at a given range. The Strike Eagle is an MOA optic. The elevation and wind turrets are calibrated in ¼ MOA clicks, a great decision because whether you’re zeroing

Optical clarity is excellent for an optic at its price point. Parallax is fixed at 125 yards and diopter adjustment is very generous rendering a sharp reticle focus.

Vortex has done a great job in bringing this scope to market, but in this reviewer’s opinion, what makes the Strike Eagle 1-8X24 FFP standout is its First Focal Plane EBR8 reticle and ¼ MOA adjustment. Maybe it’s time to upgrade your red dot sight to an LPVO, and the Vortex Optics Strike Eagle 1-8X24 FFP MOA is a great choice that will keep you on target for close engagements and out to 600 yards.
