XS Sights Inline Rear Sight Tool for Glock - What every Glock Owner Needs
By: Sal PalmaIn November 2022, XS Sights introduced two models of their Inline Rear Sight Tool for Glock pistols. They announced a DIY (do it yourself) model and a Gunsmith series. Both are designed for the GLOCK pistol and are unique in that they are remarkably simple to use. There are no complex clamping devices or any other mechanism that requires a mechanical engineering degree.
In this review, I’ll replace a set of Glock factory sights, on a GLOCK 48 MOS, with the XS Sights R3D suppressor height sights. Depending on the design of your red dot sight, you may find that it occludes the pistol’s primary sights to some degree. So, a suppressor height sight may be a better choice for your configuration. XS makes excellent night sights specifically
designed for high visibility and rapid target acquisition.
Before getting into my review details, I want to touch on the differences between the Gunsmith and DIY versions of the tool.
The DIY Series ships with a single pusher plate and is operated via the supplied allen wrench. The Gunsmith Series ships with two pusher platesandisoperatedviaamultirolehandlethat also serves as a front sight tool. XS Sights sells both models stand alone or bundled with the appropriate sights for your Glock pistol.
The XS sight pusher is compatible with all Glock models and can be used to remove any manufacturer’s Glock-compatible rear sights.
Your first step is ensuring your pistol is clear and you’ve removed all ammunition from your workspace.
Next, break down your pistol and separate the barrel and recoil spring assembly from the slide.
XS has machined the pusher out of brass to fit and align itself with the slide’s dovetail. Because the pusher is a soft brass, it will wear with use and eventually need replacement. XS publishes life estimates for both model tools, and they will alsosellreplacementpartsshouldanythingneed replacing
You must hand it to the XS folks for their choice of a polymer wedge to lock in the slide. Several ofthesighttools I’ve used in the past usually end upmarringtheslide’s finish.Thewedgetrapsthe slide securely and leaves its finish intact.
Once the OEM rear sight has been removed, you’re ready for the new sight. Slide thenewrear sight into the dovetail and once more index it on the centerline of the pusher tool; then slide the wedge into position.
Prior to using the pusher tool, XS Sights recommends that you lubricate all nuts and bolts to ensure everything operates smoothly and prolong life.
Pushing the old rear sight is straightforward, and quitefrankly, couldn’t be easier. Simply place the slide in the tool so that the rear sight indexes with the pusher’s centerline and slide the wedge into position to securely lock the slide in place.
Using the multirole handle to turn the screw, push the new rear sight into position. Removing the old sight and installing your new sight is a process that takes no more than 10 minutes using the XS tool

Manufacturer Specifications
Glock pistols are extremely popular in the United States, and estimates suggest the company has a 65% share in this market The Glock pistol is also extremely reliable, safeto use and carry, but the sole weakness is their OEM polymer sights. I’ve yet to encounter a Glock owner who has not replaced their factory sights at some point or another. XS Sights saw the opportunity and seized it, today they produce an assortment of exceptional GLOCK sights.
The Inline Rear Sight Tool for Glock is a natural extension of XS Glock product line. Its compactness and ease of use makes it an ideal toolforyourrangebagshouldyouneedtotweak your rear sight. It’ll also save you some bucks that your gunsmith won’t see.
