GREENVILLE: “EARNS TOO MUCH” FOR A BNG HOUSE
Group plans to march ESMÉ ERASMUS
W
hile about 1 600 people have received free Breaking New Ground (BNG) houses in die Greenville
housing development already, other disgruntled residents plan a march to protest against the “unfair” process. The members of Fisantekraal Backyard Dwellers, an organisation that was founded
in July last year, are upset because they do not qualify for BNG houses, because they earn “too much”. With the cut-off at R3 500 per month, some of them earn just slightly more, but at the
same time they do not qualify for a housing loan in any one of the other housing schemes planned in Greenville by the City of Cape Town and the developer, Garden Cities. V To page 4
