The Table View Neighbourhood Watch (TVNW) members and community medics joined forces to honour the healthcare workers at Netcare Blaauwberg Hospital last week. This as healthcare workers and essential service facilities across the country are on the front line battling Covid-19 with their own health and well-being at stake. The TVNW said they are the true heroes in this battle. HEALTHCARE WORKERS: NHW SAYS ‘THANK YOU’

s many healthcare workers around the country are baring the brunt in the fight against Covid-19, the Table View Neighbourhood Watch (TVNW) took the initiative to spread some joy. Healthcare workers at Netcare Blaauwberg Hospital, who wear their uniforms with pride every day, despite all odds, were honoured last week. Laura Outhet, media liaison at TVNW

said patrollers and some members from community medics wanted to bring a little happiness to some of the healthcare workers at Netcare Blaauwberg Hospital. “TVNW organised with the matron of the hospital to welcome the next shift and thank the previous shift with a round of clapping and very big thank yous. What an emotional evening. By now, we all know someone fighting this or who have lost someone fighting Covid-19 – our healthcare workers across the country are drowning in it daily,” Outhet said. She added that a small gesture such as this

one goes a long way in keeping their spirits up. “They can’t get away from it. They are our superheroes! We thank them so much for their dedication to their work. We ask all of our community members to please be safe at all times,” Outhet said. Netcare Blaauwberg Hospital recently posted on social media, thanking various companies and the community for their generous contributions. “On behalf of the Netcare Blaauwberg Hospital management, doctors and staff, we would like to extend our sincerest thanks to

the community who have so generously contributed in various forms of donations during these trying times. You have brightened up our day and made everyone smile. The thought that our community stands behind us in this tough time is deeply encouraging. Stay safe,” the post reads. The recent surge in Covid-19 cases has placed significant demand on the hospital staff, making it difficult for them to provide regular updates to concerned family members. V To page 2
