BLOUBERGSTRAND: AFRICAN TAILS TO BENEFIT
Going the extra mile for animals TIYESE JERANJI @jeranji
A
Bloubergstrand resident will embark on a solo back-to-back cycling and running endurance adventure of over 1 500km for charity. The endurance athlete Willie Richards will cover this distance from Stellenbosch to Plettenberg Bay in 20 days – cycling for six and running the remaining 14 days – to raise awareness and funds for one of his favourite charities, African Tails, through the #WheresWillie2019 fundraising campaign. Starting on Tuesday 10 September he will tackle about 50km per day, without any support. Richards will cycle alone, run alone and even be responsible for carrying his own food and water supplies, as well as sleeping bag, as he makes his way through tough terrain. Richards is, however, not a newcomer to these type of challenges, having done it before for African Tails and several other charities. Richards told TygerBurger many people are doing good work and helping charities, but most of them are more focused on helping only humans. V To page 2.
