Every Hero Has a Story: A Story of Success! Summer Reading 2015

The “Every Hero Has a Story” summer reading program at the Herr Memorial Library, which encourages children to continue reading throughout the summer, has come to an end.

2015 Summer Reading Statistics: • 1,677 children participated • 196,000 minutes read from June 1 - August 8th “It was a terrific summer! We had fabulous participation and met LOTS of new families!” said Carol Grove, Summer Reading Program Coordinator. “We had fantastic support from the community for our programs! The kids all did a great job of reading. We had TONS of fun celebrating and learning about all different kinds of “heroes”! The Herr Memorial Library would like to thank all of the participants, sponsors and volunteers who helped to make the summer reading program a HUGE success!

Mutt-i-grees in the Library Honor The Herr Memorial Library has been selected as one of four Mutt-i-grees in the Library national demonstration sites for 2015-2017. The honor has been awarded, along with a $250 grant, due to the message of empathy and compassion towards animals and shelter pets, implementation of experience, exemplary practice, ability and willingness to share expertise with other animal organizations and evidence of promotion of Mutt-i-grees activities.

Sidewalk Sign: Top of the Wish List Herr Memorial Library is fortunate to have broad support among residents of the Mifflinburg Borough and surrounding areas, with many people donating time, money, and materials for the benefit of all. In addition to ongoing requests for financial support for operating expenses, materials, and program development, the library occasionally is in need of very specific items.

We really appreciate everyone’s help! For more information, call 570-966-0831 or visit the library. Herr News & Notes • Fall 2015
